As a continuation of bakemonogatari this does a great job of keeping you hooked on the monogatari series. First of all Kizumonogatari Tekketsu expands on some of the characters in the show providing more depth to them and the overall story. It also makes you ask questions about what happened to get to bakemonogatari. Although, the story in part 1 is a little lacking I found it wasn’t too slow considering the 1 hour length. Sadly the series also continues with unnecessary fan service but this is basically a given so I won’t mention it more.
The soundtrack is great and improves the visuals which, of course were beautiful and reminded me of a typical film’s camera angles. Kizumonogatri part 1 has amazing scenes throughout with colours that add to this visually appealing element whilst also c…

I don't understand how they dropped the ball on this. Don't get me wrong, you should eventually watch Kizumonogatari in its totality. But this first movie just had a whole lot of nothing going on. And it was just awful at portraying how the world of Monogatari should feel. There was a lot of just random views/art pointed at pretty much nothing (which is standard for Bakemonogatari), but this time there's a lot of that with no dialogue; nothing interesting going on. The Monogatari Series' art is great, beautiful, but not meant to stand alone. It is often paired with something interesting: dialogue, metaphorical art, etc. The series has been known for being great at setting the tone. Unfortunately, Kizumonogatari doesn't do well in this regard, making the world feel empty, bland, and uninter…

DON'T WATCH THIS ANIME...
...if you accidentally stumbled upon it because of its high rating, if you're just a newcomer to anime. If you are an advanced viewer, you already know WHAT it is. The trilogy of these movies is the chronological beginning of all the other series. If you don't like this movie, don't continue watching. The level of insanity will only increase. Yes, I understand why people adore this universe: energetic music, high-quality painting, tons of fan service, pronounced cruelty, composition, style and atmosphere beyond genius. I'm not against eroticism and pathos. But! Don't get me wrong: Interspecies Reviewers is one of my favorite anime, but there eroticism is the essence of anime, it doesn't have any deeper meaning behind it, you understand WHY you're watching it. Here…

As the first movie in the series of movies of the monogatari subseries being the kizumonogatari series, it does set the tone of what was the basis of our protagonist, Araragi Koyomi, with the emphasis on how he managed to obtain his powers. This mention is to those who have watched earlier Monogatari Series of seasons released before. For those who would like to watch this movie as the first monogatari anime episode/movie, then it fits chronologcially as where it all begins and what is really a prompt to our protagonist.
What would one gather just from reading the preface for a description is that... The anime just seems to be one of those where the protagonist just finds a mysterious character/has a mysterious encounter with someone who is relatively obscure according to the standards of…

Flames And White Panties, What A Beginning
Kizumonogatari part 1 Is what happens, when you take a light novels text, And make every word into stylish editing and amazing character design, that is just a wonder to look at.
The music is amazing and puts a good tone to every scene It is in, it makes every moment nice to look at and listen to.
There is a lot of dialogue, but it is stylish and doesn't feel boring, there is a purpose behind it, even if it feels like a waterfall in my face.
It is perverted but in a way that I really enjoy. maybe it's turn off for some, but I don't mind at all.
The movie is not afraid to slow down, and let the music and animation talk from itself. it is so atmospheric, I love it. it's a great part one, would recommend.

Tekketsu differs from Bakemonogatari in the sense that it doesn’t place dialogue proficiency at its crux; instead, it’s more concerned with setting the narrative and revealing the relationship between Koyomi and Kiss-shot. It’s a visual feast lathered with experimental shots and an amalgam of Shaft’s signature quirks, employing symmetrical architectural layouts with the 2.35:1 aspect ratio to produce wide shot compositions. Akiyuki Shinbou and Tatsuya Oishi’s direction is gripping even with the film’s short length, as the storyboards (that the latter worked extensively on for several years) are terrifically creative, involving background structures and intertitles between dialogue and strategically placing jump cuts without damaging the flow of conversation. The animation is lively, compri…

You know what's scary? Vampires. Kizumonogatari is just as weird and intense as you'd expect from this series, and this is a great start to this arc. For full disclosure, I have watched all of Bakemonogatari, but none of the stuff that came out after that but before this yet, as is often recommended.
First things first, this thing looks INCREDIBLE. The 2D cel animation is fluid and gorgeous, and the art features a desaturated palette and masterful lighting. I don't typically like 3DCGI in anime, but Monogatari is meant to feel unreal and weird, so it works incredibly well here. Bravo Shaft.
The direction is unique and expressive, as you'd expect, and is actually less disjointed than Bakemonogatari was; though it's still playing with your perception of the story's events quite a bit. Mood…

First of all, this is my first anime review on MAL and I apologize for my broken English.
I watched this anime very randomly. Frankly, I didn't like the intro of the anime very much and I thought it didn't appeal to me so I watched it at x1.5 speed to make it end quickly. But in terms of its content, I can say that I found the background, character designs, animation and narration of this anime beautiful. I can even say that I liked how the characters expressed their moods, feelings, moments of thought and reactions in a different and interesting way.
Okay... In general, this anime movie was a little strange and a little interesting.

In my opinion, the first movie in the Kizumonogatari trilogy is one of the best anime films ever made. The storyline is quite linear and straightforward: Araragi meets one of his first friends, encounters Shinobu, and gets introduced to her world. However, the main appeal lies in its aesthetics and visual presentation. The combination of anime characters with real-life backgrounds highlights the deconstruction aspect of otaku and post-modern consumption culture. The film employs various camera angles and animation styles, from horror zoom-ins to chibi cartoons, and its use of color makes it visually captivating.
The opening scene creates a sense of urgency and paranoia, helping viewers immediately empathize with Araragi. During his conversation with Shinobu, the pacing slows down to allow…

TLDR
-The animation is inconsistent
-Fights are anticlimactic
-Hanekawa
-Ending sucks (for this movie and the other 2 movies)
(kizu is short for Kizumonogatari.)
Shaft did not need to strectch a it for taht long.
its unbelievable how a backgrounds at some points were more interesting than Hanekawa character... and it was really unneccessary for hanekawa to be sexualised so much??!!
the fanservice (throughout the 3 movies) are so garbage like its even worse than those bad isekai or terrible harem animes... I feel like the movie could of been a lot better if hanekawa was literally removed from the 3 kizu movies
if they fleshed out Shinobu's character/reactions etc and removed hanekawa, which would mean no terrible irrelevant fanservice scenes the 3 kizu movies could of been bumped up in rat…

Monogatari series were a great example of how to properly adapt a wall of text into degenerative cartoons. While still being "tell, don't show" — like a text — it made up for it with awesome background, awesome music and just the right amount of artsy shit like the slideshow, the camera angles, the architecture of protag's bathroom.
Kizumonogatari grabs this well-working formula and throws it out of the window. The music is loud and distracting, all the character reactions and actions are theatrical and unnatural, everything's very dragged out, very pretentious and very confusing since the inner monologue is cut completely and only the bare minimum of dialogues is left. And it doesn't work that way.
First 90 seconds of ep.1 of Bakemonogatari are a better anime adaptation of Kizumonogatar…

As an anime only starting the monogatari path. I was amazed by bakemonogatari but the magic I saw in bakemonogatari wasn't really here. I think the main issue is pacing without a doubt. The story is intriguing without a doubt but it only starts to get told towards the last 15 minutes. I enjoy the storytelling method of using quick flashes of text as well as animation to tell the story as opposed to simply dialogue, but it was just too slow this time around. I enjoy the careful pacing but this wasn't it for me. Regardless, the movie does many things well, the sound is brilliant, as well as the art and animation. The dialogue is witty and the characters with an air of mystery about them, even though we may have existing knowledge about them, the author makes it clear that there is more to th…

Overall rating: 5, further review below
Where do I even start dissecting this? The problem isn't that there is too much to say, it's that there isn't enough. For the hour that this movie lasted, there's maybe about 10 minutes of worthwhile content, all scattered in the second half. So, the first Kizumonogatari, as all prequels do, give a good deal of insight on one of 778's most famous works.
Sorry, the parallels were just so obvious I had to make the joke. But every masterpiece has its cheap copy, and the Yupiel doujin is no exception. With Shaft doing as it does with this anime and making the oujou-sama's laugh into something you can watch, Kizumonogatari first movie doesn't offer much to look at. Hanekawa and Araragi feel like wholly different characters, probably free of whatever tra…

Kizumonogatari I Tekketsu-hen is an amazing introduction to the trilogy.
Story: 9/10
The story in this movie is great but I wouldn't say it's the best of the whole trilogy, so expect it to get better with each movie. Tekketsu hen is a great introduction to the trilogy and it hooks you in the beginning. I love Oishi Tatsuya's directing in this movie in particular since he changes some scenes from the Light Novel and makes them better in my opinion. Some changes are for visuals and help with the storytelling.
Art: 10/10
I already thought that the normal Monogatari series seasons already had top-tier animation but this is a movie so it has to be better! The whole movie looks amazing and the art is just fantastic. The fight scenes in these movies look amazing and the animation is stylized a…

To review a movie that could have been summed up to be half the time it ended up being is difficult because, on the one hand, this movie essentially only introduced Araragi's story of being a vampire, and on the other, it was entertaining to watch. I had this feeling when watching Bakemonogatari as well--not much happens, but it keeps you engaged anyway. Part of that is the tone that's set, and though this movie differs from the older pieces of this series, it still has a distinctly surreal feel to it. The only analytic thought I had while watching this film was that it felt like an art piece. There isn't much dialogue for an hour-long film, but the hand of Araragi's narration is still ever-present, and that's always going to make for a unique experience.
I'm not aware how this story is b…

**THIS REVIEW IS FOR ALL KIZUMONOGATARI FILMS**
If that one kid in class during high school who was smart, funny, and liked by everyone, were to be an anime, it would be Kizumonogatari.
We all know those kinds of kids belong in their own group, in this case it's the Monogatari series, a long plethora of scenes and scenarios combined into one large story in order to create the effect that Kizumonogatari manages to do nothing but emphasize, and really give it the extra element of storytelling that the Monogatari series needed after its initial season; Bakemonogatari.
Kizumonogatari is the second instalment of the Monogatari series, at least in the order in which I am watching it in, and it really fills in those aspects that Bakemonogatari was really missing, not only a lot of explanation,…

There are lots of good things about this film but it also has its weaknesses. I can see why it has deserved praise and hate but I'll begin with talking about its strengths first since its failures are pretty obvious. The first thing that stood out to me was the cinematography. You can tell this is an 'artsy' film from its various stylistic choices such as the juxtaposition of realistic looking backgrounds and the animated 2D characters. The shots of texts that flash in between cuts to show what the characters are thinking/feeling. The camera angles and emphasis on Araragi's eyes that make you really feel his anxiety and fear in the beginning of the film. The switch from French text back to Japanese and occasional English. The scene that really got me impressed was when Ararag…

Incomplete and empty movie. Watch all 3 parts together if you want something meaningful. I'll summarise the good and bad parts:
Good part:
1. Pretty visuals,
2. Didn't get me bored (probably because i was watching with too much interest)
3. A tall, blonde, gorgeous big lady. The scene when she shows up is most important in the movie (since there are very few scenes). It involves a little bit of suspense, horror (for the MC), and sympathy (from the MC, although his actions are questionable. Bad part:
1. There is not much content in the movie.only a handful of scenes. There isn't even much to spoil this movie. Its feels like a build up.
2. Characters behaved very strangely and idiotically but in bakemonogatari dialogues start making sense later on so i hope its the same case for thi…

I finally got around to start watching the kizumonogatari movies, my final step before watching the second season of monogatari. Overall I think its a pretty good movie, but there are a few things that hold it back from being great.
The movie as a whole is good, not too much happens. But why would it? This is the sort of introductory movie to the rest of kizu, it establishes the base that the next 2 movies will build off of. I enjoyed seeing my favorite characters from bakemonogatari again, as well as a much more talkative Shinobu/Heart-Under-Blade. I can't wait to see where the next movie takes me.
As far as sound as concerned, (which I usually don't think is too important) its meh. After the great tracks in the other monogatari content I've seen, I was kind of let down. I don't think I…

MINOR SPOILERS:
ok so this was my first time experiencing the monogatari series, well except for the one episode i watched of bakemonogatari. how did i feel about this? well I thought this was pretty captivating to say the least.
there's a lot of cuts in the beginning which I thought was some random bullshit trying to make the story "deep" or "symbolic" but they ended up explaining it later which was a relief
The protagonist is a little bitch, I cant even sugarcoat this. it takes him like 3 whole minutes to ruin from an injured, immobilized vampire. the vampire can't do shit to you bud, just fucking run. "he's frozen in fear." that is not an excuse, the vampire literally can't move and is crawling around 1 inch per minute.
regarding the animation, it's pretty fucking good. smooth af…
