Kobato.

Kobato.

Introduction

The friendly and sincere Kobato Hanato has a wish to go to a particular place no matter what. To fulfill this desire, she is tasked with helping people in their times of distress. For each mended broken heart, a small candy-like fragment is produced and fills a special bottle. Once the bottle is full, her wish will be granted. As Kobato carries out her mission alongside her stuffed toy companion, Ioryogi, she encounters various people troubled by their different situations. From a child struggling with his parents, a high school girl troubled about romance, and everything in between, Kobato's naturally sweet smile and outgoing personality are ready to brighten their day! At first I thought this anime could gain popularity if remade in today's world of anime. I don't think I am alone on that thought. Then it built its setting into this regular repetitive feeling that was, for some reason, difficult to push off. With how many, so different and stimulating, the reels and TikToks we go through on a daily basis are, I marked off the idea of Kobato, ever being successful as a show in this day and age. It took a long time, but eventually, as I made it to the journey's end, I saw how this show built its foundations on regularities, enjoyed and hated so very much, that are perfect with their, here they go again, imperfections! Kobato is what I may call the "perfect" show. I am not expecting the best of the best to keep the ride on the hype train until their viewer…

An angry stuffed animal and the charming airheaded girl, Kobato, arrive on a playground through an otherworldly dimension. Their mission is for the girl to heal the hearts of others, vague as that may seem, and that she has a finite amount of time to facilitate these results. If Kobato cannot heal enough hearts by the end of 4 seasons, then her wish will not come true. Thematically, this is a cutesy comedy-drama with supernatural elements that is adjacent to the slice-of-life genre, but the anime has a tad too much intrigue and heartstring-pulling throughout the total runtime to qualify it as a proper slice-of-life. Kobato herself is a blank slate of a character with a default factory setting of "Hopelessly Optimistic", and it is her naivete and radiant positivity that makes this a compel…

This is one of those animes where you feel empty once you're done watching it because it's just that good! The best way to describe it that I could think of was, imagine Tohru Honda in Violet Evergarden (without the war part) with a bit of mahou shoujo elements. The story is simple yet beautiful and emotional at the same time! At first I thought the plot was going to be repetitive or a collection of different stories but it's not like for the most part. It's a story that keeps building and adding to the plot, I especially liked how a lot of non main side characters reappeared through the story. It gave it a realistic feel because in real life, you encounter many of the same people from time to time when they live in your neighborhood and stuff. The ending was very unexpected for me…

Over the years, it's very difficult for me to give a 10 for an anime. And this one I can say with all the certainty in the world that it is worth much more than the Note 10. It will be engraved in my memory, in my whole being this beautiful story. The story involves you from beginning to end. You suspect in some episodes and u wont be able to wait. It's already engraved in ur memory. And if your heart is of stone like mine, I'm sure it will break, the ice melts and tears will run down your face. Kobato and Fujimoto, I love you! And I will always do!

This is my first Clamp series (aside from Code Geass). Yes, I'm a neophyte when it comes to this particular corner of the anime world, and regardless of what else I say, I am interested in seeing more series from Clamp, though not because of the various cameos in this series. Those were honestly a little distracting. And I'm not entering into this one with a negative attitude towards it. Sure, it's a little saccharine, but that's kind of the point. A young woman appears suddenly in a town with a talking, fire-breathing stuffed animal with the chief goal of mending peoples' broken hearts. If that's not a premise for a saccharine show, I don't know what is. So when people start inviting this random stranger into their homes and preschools, you just kind of roll with it. That's the kind of s…

I quite liked this anime, the different characters, the story is good although there are many holes to fill in, the plot is not told very well. In my opinion I think it is very overrated, Kobato is like a Mary Poppins but clumsy, and the story of gangsters and that someone owes money is very seen. If you like to cry and feel an open heart this is the anime to watch. The anime itself is quite beautiful, with the premise of an innocent girl doing her best out of the depths of her heart to help mend broken hearts. It's itself a very relaxing anime to watch yet has strong emotional peaks that can bring tears to the eyes. The one issue I had with this anime is that I think the premise of the plot could have been executed better. The beginning starts really strong and sets the expectation for it to be something very grand but its execution doesn't live up to the energy shown at the beginning of the story. However, despite this, the strong beginning and ending really bring things together in a way that is extremely satisfying and healing for the heart and soul. So despite it having the…

It is a very calm anime, the first episodes we only see loose stories from a Slice of Life anime, where we see the protagonist who is a god bread, a very good person. From the middle of the anime it becomes more serious, then the last chapters become quite slow, what I liked the least is that at the end they add romance, in short I did not like the anime so much because it is very quiet too much for my taste, He takes a long time to tell his story. The animation is quite good, it's cute, the soundtrack is very good, the character design is also very good, the co-star is very cute, the character development is also very good as it gives each one much more foliage. The only thing I would have liked to see more is the protagonist sing more because what a beautiful voice she has for God's sake…

Expectation: Protagonist magically heals broken hearts from lots of emotional high school romances, divorces, and mild trauma in each episode that ends on happy notes. Alright, sounds like just the right blend of bittersweet but warm and empowering, I'm in. Reality: Ditzy girl with 0 superpowers devotes the majority of her life to a failing kindergarten with predictable children. "Helps" people by forcing her way into the daily lives of neighbourhood's residents, and is rewarded when they smile. - I was initially surprised that I hadn't heard of this anime before. The description sounded appealing for a sensitive sh*t like me, and I generally appreciate protagonists who try to make others' lives better, because I too, like helping people in real life. Now I know why it was never popula…

Wow! This was unexpectedly great! I was prepared to watch another reverse-harem/rom-com kind of thing, but this was far beyond that. The plot is centered around our protagonist Kobato, whose carefree and kind attitude is entirely endearing. Often I find 'ditzy' characters to be annoying and made dumb for purely comedic effect. Still, she was written in a way that never read as her being truly 'stupid.' She was wonderful to watch as her journey progressed, and as for all the other characters - I found them equally enjoyable, as well. Which only made the show more entertaining as I wholeheartedly cared about what happened to those we were introduced to. Aside from that, the story was awesome! Every episode had meaning and significance - and overall - was uniquely genuine. It had me cryin…

So the story is great, she tries to help people to achieve a goal. I get the character cuteness. What I is hard for me to understand is her stupidity. There is no need to have a character who is cute and a bit clumsy...but it doesn't have to be stupid. The series overall is very sexist and abusive. Yes the overall premise of the story is beautiful and heartwarming, but I don't get why the character needs to be senseless and imprudent to communicate her will to help. I also do not agree with the "dog" character been so violent against "woman". Maybe it is because this is the "old" way of portraying woman for the Japanese Anime/Manga community where a female character equal cute and adorable they are clumsy and stupid, but I do not believe it is a good message to support and teach our youngs…

bo i. I really thought that I would beat the show without tears, but those last two episodes. Goddamn it. The first half is basically just a phase, just making you feel comfy with the show so that it will stab you relentlessly in the last episodes. I hate this. I'm giving this show a -100 points ok but memes aside, this was a really good show. It may seem boring or repetitive at first (or that Kobato can tend to be annoying for some) but this show just really pays back at the last half of the season, which makes the show worthwhile. Though for me, I enjoy the comedy in that show, Kobato can be dumb, but that kind of dumbness is what made the show tolerable (esp her dynamic with Fujimoto or Ioryogi.) The music is very selective but it hits different, especially that one repetitive so…

Kobato is like a fresh iced tea on a humid summer day, an Autumn afternoon where the colorful leaves fall softly off the tree, a warm scarf on a cold winters night, a Spring where the rain stays on the dew in the grass with a nice smelling breeze in the air. Kobato is my childhood. It was a simple show to me growing up... about a girl who is granted a wish once she fills a bottle within 1 year (four seasons) by collecting magical mini candy. One candy appears in the bottle every time she heals a person's heart. Growing up I thought it was a steady, loveable show to watch but as an adult there's a darkness laced in it. It tackles our need to look out for each other in such a slow yet seamless manner–while having 24 episodes full of beautiful animation. Issues such as tragedy of an orphan,…

I found Kobato's energy enjoyable and the series somewhat refreshing, but the story's presentation really is so incredibly bad that I can't give it a recommendation. There is far too little explanation upfront, it takes way too long for Kobato's journey to kick off for real, and it doesn't go anywhere once it does. The glacial pace of Kobato works against it in a big way. There is no reason for this to be 24 episodes, even by the standards of somber slice of life anime. It's way too basic to justify the time sink by any stretch of the imagination. But. The ending really is quite good and worth watching. I found myself getting extremely tired of the episodes in the middle of the series because they were almost entirely wheelspinning. If, like me, you feel the same, I recommend doing wha…

Once I saw this anime's synopsis, I already had an idea about how it would be. Kobato needed to cure broken hearts, thus, new characters would appear every episode with their stories and emotions. After seeing another anime similar to this in the shoujo genre, my idea was that those characters would be empty with weak stories, because in shoujo drama, my experience with these type of one-episode characters is usually like that, where the really strong stories are around the main characters. But Kobato have fooled me, by the second broken heart I was already entertained by it, and as it was going, I was easily in tears, which doesn't really happen to me, I don't cry much in famously sad animes like Angel Beats and etc.. But most difficult for me than that, is to care about characters that…

I enjoyed watching this anime for the pureness and heartwarming feeling that it gave me. Kobato was an adorable character. I loved seeing her relationship with others develop, especially with Fujimoto (although, Fujimoto was a jerk in the beginning). She truly wanted to help others, even if it doesn't help her mission. I just wished that it wasn't emphasized in almost every episode that she's kind of dumb and a klutz. It wasn't necessarily bad, but they just did it for comedic effect, and you get fed up with it. You might find it annoying at some point. The character I truly loved is Ioryogi. He's funny, but he tries his best to push Kobato, and call her out when she's being dumb. The story was more character-driven, so you won't necessarily see a progression in the plot. Sometimes it fe…

Kobato is a simple anime that is rich with warmth and kindness. As she tries to collect confetti to get her wish, Kobato goes through various difficulties as she navigates challenges like relationships, finance, and social interaction in general. And honestly? It was delightful, charming, comedic, and heartwarming. What is the point of life if not to be kind to others? To bring joy not only to ourselves when we crave it but also to those around us? In Kobato's case, much of her healing nature lends itself to meddling, but what we can learn from her is how strong a force compassion and love can be. The last episode made me CRY if only for a few hard-hitting concepts (and the fact that it is currently 2am and I just finished watching it). This anime has value, both on the simple level of enj…

Kobato in and of itself is a pretty enjoyable, innocent anime if you watch episodes 1 up to 22. There is world building and buildup to a greater reveal in the background, whereas small stories about people and their problems of connecting with others are in the foreground. With her innocent and kind of clueless earnestness, Kobato manages to get through to all of them. It's calm, the pacing is relaxed, there are a lot of nice recurring characters as well as the usual Clamp cameos. It's a nice overall package. Now the final two episodes however are a different beast. Kobato's wish that has been eluded to but has never been explained in more detail than "there is a place she wishes to go" gets revealed and it's actually pretty disappointing. There is no buildup to any of it, and there is a…

After reading the plot synopsis I expected a cute, heartwarming, fantasy/magical girl kind of experience. While it IS cute and it certainly IS heartwarming, I wish it was more fantasy-driven. Sadly, the fantasy elements remain very scarce throughout the anime (which is too bad because there was great potential). What you ultimately get is a sort of dull slice-of-life/drama/comedy kind of thing. Too much of the story revolved around that damn preschool Kobato and Fujimoto worked at. There are episodes when the viewer easily forgets that there's supposed to be a fantasy element to this story. When it DOES get pointed out, everything is so vaguely explained that by the end of the story you're not even entirely sure you understood it right / what it is that ACTUALLY happened that made Kobato…

An interesting tale about juggling obligations and love, the story of Kobato involves a mysterious young woman seeking to redeem herself due to some past tragedy, which is shrouded in mystery. In the first half of the narrative it shows her day-to-day struggles to achieve her goal of 'healing broken hearts' which seems to be the point of her quest. As the narrative moves toward the second half, character motivations and developments become more noteworthy as the sweetheart protagonist Kobato realizes her motivation shifting with her heart, and as the show nears the end, she begins to take a newfound romantic interest in Fujimoto, the male lead opposite her throughout the series run. But a deal is a deal and this comes home to roost in the final string of episodes with a massive emotional r…
