Normally I'm not picky about the type of shows I watch but this was really boring for me. Uramichi Oniisan has an interesting concept, but unfortunately, it didn’t fully work for me. The idea of a children’s show host who is secretly burnt out and emotionally exhausted is relatable and has a lot of potential. However, the execution ended up feeling repetitive, which made the series drag after a while.
The only two things I like are the Bunny Mascots anf the Ending song. Other than that, he jokes and dialogue often relied on the same depressing or cynical lines about adulthood, which lost their impact over time.
The anime isn’t necessarily bad, but it becomes predictable. Each episode follows a similar pattern: a setup involving the children’s show, followed by another reminder of how exh…

Adult. Humor. And existential dread. Presented at in anime children. In the form of an aired television show.
Do you hate your job? This anime will speak to you in ways you won't believe. With a cast of characters ranging from "I hate my existance but I need money" to "I have the morally just one with the humor of a ten year old" and everything in between. I really cannot state more. It's multipart segments with ... oddly real life lessons like I would give my small siblings.
Watch at your own digression. But, save it for depressive episodes.
The dub is phenomenal. It serves all the purposes.

Very good version of a slice of life dark comedy. When I'm in the mood for a bit of psychological horror but also want slice of life, this is kind of it.
The jokes can be pretty dark, which if you like that generally you'll really love this. A lot of existential angst embedded in the humor, which is honestly really refreshing. If you're not into that humor, probably not for you.
The characters are likeable even though they are all different versions of annoying, and also refreshing that everyone's an adult.
One thing that would have made this spectacular is an actual plot with character development. They edged it a few times in a few episodes but just didn't go anywhere with it. Not sure if more happens in the manga, but that was a little disappointing. Still a really solid and easy…

Uramichi Oniisan is an extremely good comedy and is a nice change of pace from other anime.
Starting off, the plot of the anime is practically no existent. So no arcs, no plot twists just pure comedy. And when I say there is no plot I mean it, Nothing in this anime connects together it really is just purely for shits n giggles so if you don't like that I suggest you still watch it because the anime is awesome. Everything about this anime other than the storyline is great, the humor is peak, This anime had me laughing like a little bitch and I think you will be too. Honestly this has to be the best comedy anime of all time period.
The animation of this anime is nothing special. Very typical animation sadly no stunning backdrops, Nothing wallpaper worthy, just extremely average anime quali…

If I could share my home screen picture widgets and keyboard wallpaper, that itself would have summed up on how I feel about Uramichi Oniisan. Uramichi-san, Marry Me.
Basically an anime about the daily life of a working class adult, but with a touch of realism (instead of the goofy comedy trope). You wake up, got to work, eat, go home. 5 times a week excluding weekends except the typical involuntary UNPAID overtime when the boss calls you up asking, which the answer will always be Yes, that he needs help.
"Ah for the company, it is our duty as a hard working employee to make sure the company prosper in good will!" as we exclaimed with our coworkers knowing the boss is listening in the background, while inside we are screaming wishing death to reap our souls.
(is this a review or am I…

Life Lessons With Uramichi Oniisan is a funny anime about children tv show hosts, and what they are like behind the scenes.
Despite putting on a big smile for the kids they are really dead inside.
Its a very funny cast of characters:
-Uramichi the host. In peak physical condition. But depressed and mentally unstable. He says alot of depressing things to the kids.
-His co-hosts Iketeru and Utano (both singers). One is clueless the other is obsessed with getting married.
-Kumatani and Usahara in the bear and rabbit costumes respectively. These are the two who constantly get abused by Uramichi (well mainly Usahara does).
-And of course you have the kids on the show. The only sane people.
The interactions between everyone is comedy gold. The constant fake smiles for the sake of appearances.…

You ever watch a children's entertainment show on TV and wonder why grown adults are wearing ridiculous outfits while being seemingly forced to sing children's songs or perform in degrading scenes that no sane adult would realistically do normally? "Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan" is a comical and pessimistic take where these adult performers are fed up, but also need to keep their jobs. Although the show mainly focuses on the title-character Uramichi, it also does a great job representing the similar (and also comedic) struggles of the other adults that are acting alongside him.
The comedy of this show is centered around the many grown-up problems of a single late 20s and early 30s adult being brought up to children in a children's TV show. Problems such as heavy drinking, smoking, b…

This is a hard one to write but definitely give this a watch if youre a seiota (seiyuu otaku) like me lol. In the anime we got hella loads of famous seiyuus (check above), but ofc the plot is not all that impressive. I did get a few good laugh or two but that's it. Nothing special about this but if you're bored and have nothing else to watch like me, yeah you can watch it to waste your time but if you're looking for something meaningful, there's not much to find in this anime tbh. I wouldn't really classify it as SoL tbh cause there's not much character depth and development, the plot doesnt really go anywhere and the humor is sometimes there, sometimes not really.

I just rewatched it.
I like this show a lot.
It really embodies the experience of "hating yourself but you work with kids so you need to create a fake persona to deal with them, but at the same time you want them to not get their hopes up in life so you try to teach them about the real life".
I hate being an adult. I really do. And I yearn for the childhood I undermined. This show encapsulates the feeling perfectly, and I treasure it for it.
Apart from that, I also adore this show because the seiyuu cast is insanely talented (and all of them are very well-known??) (and I think that they all had a blast recording). I feel like mamoru miyano was born for the role of ikiteru.
Also I've never felt greater need of fixing a man than after seeing Usahara. He is so pathetic... I need him...
An…

Watched this because of Mamoru Miyano's laughter scene.
13 episodes of wasted time...
I am amazed that they had such an amazing cast of seiyuus and yet the anime is so plain and not funny.
I really cannot express how disappointed I am in this show.
The story might seem unique and interesting, prone to have awesome jokes, but no story development or good jokes follow after whatsoever.
The art is okay, I mean it is nothing special and not bad either.
The characters were meh. They had cool backstories but again, never developed.
The characters might have been seen realistic but again, nothing was done with that.

I haven't seen a single other anime tackle daily adult struggles in such a funny and slice-of-life manner. This is a GREAT slice-of-life for people who want something that will make you laugh, and that feels relatable.
Story - 8
The story is fine. It's not something super cohesive where when you get to the end some big revelation will come, or a huge problem will be solved. However, some stuff does carry on between episodes, and you'll notice the characters kind of grow as a team from start to finish, so it's not something where you can necessarily watch any episode for fun. Especially the finale, the finale is a great ending and only really feels right if you have gone through the journey with the characters.
Art - 9
The art is so bright, fun, and cheery. It will make you happy on a sa…

The premise sounded cool: a dark comedy about the mental problems of adulthood at 30+, things such as the loss of hope, dreams; the ennui and anhedonia; being explained with a smile on a kid show to prepare the stunned little brats for the reality ahead. Instead it's all about the characters whining off stage about their trivial normie "problems" like TFW no GF. Not being married yet. Not having enough friends. Stressing about what family or strangers think of you being single. Being alone, and especially (oh god no, not THAT...) being alone on X-mas.
Maybe this is what people consider to be real adult problems, but you can just go read a relationship column for that sort of tripe, it will waste less of your time than this dumb bait and switch anime.

One day, you're in your 30's. Every single day, you start to hate even your own birthday. You feel dealing with some people is a hassle. You got stuck on a crappy job. Your boss is chewing the hell out of you. Boss's bootlickers are just mocking at you and bragging about how the first one invited them to a trip to The Caribbean for months. You're feeling defeated. Sick of everything. Almost on the point of committing a mass shooting... Yet your parents expect to go big. How to cope with all that Sh*tstorm? Welp... It's all up to you!
Long short story, this series portrays the lives of people on their late 20's/30's. Who turned out to work for a children's show: A worn out former gymnast, a singer whose career (or the lack of) is filled of pure failures and stuck with a good-for-nothing of…

Maybe I'll rate it lower when the high of the show wears off, but for now, I'm still reveling in the nice wrap up of the last episode.
First, you have to understand that it is primarily a comedy show based off of that hitting 30s depression. You know the one. Where you feel like you aren't living up to what you expected as a child, or you feel like you've just been wasting your years. Some would argue that this downplays the characters suffering, but I would argue that this it shows the audience that these feelings are okay and you can still find fun in your day to day life.
I'm going to try to keep this review spoiler free.
The show plays a lot into irony, contrasting the cheerful personas the characters take on for filming and the tiredness they feel afterwards. The main ensemble are…

My recommendation is; watch until episode 4 or 5 you might have a good laugh and get to experience this odd concept. After that just drop it! You won't miss anything, not even at the end! Save your time, time will never comeback.
It is interesting at the beginning because you don't what to expect and there are funny moments.
After 4 episodes it gets bland, there isn't content in this anime, the same joke was used for half of the show, it was fine for me, I would have a little laugh here and then.
The problem is that this anime doesn't have much to provide! The story didn't go nowhere, it was almost the same for 12 episodes of 23.4 minutes each!
Basically, after 4 episodes the dynamic was, watch 20 minutes of nonsense to laugh for a minute! I don't know about you guys but that isn't worth f…

Despite being a workplace comedy about young people this anime suffers from a writer that is either showing their age or relying on tired tropes and ideas. From rants against calling out harassment, the only female lead being obsessed with marriage, appalling LGBT misrepresentation, suggesting "some people won't understand unless you hit them", among many other tired tropes that feel like something your CEO would write and not your friends.
It's funny at times and I give it credit for otherwise good writing, if this was released in 1990 it'd probably be a big hit. 30 years later and it comes off as strongly out of touch and leaning heavily on tired stereotypes. Despite having lots of good scenes to clip and share online as a whole those moments can't shine through the majority of this oth…

Fun, relatable, and different.
It shows a different side than the idyllic, idealised Japan most anime showcase. It subtly tells of abusive work environments and of a people resigned to have work be a torture you just have to cope with. It does so while being funny, and never throwing social criticism in your face. The message is clear but it never gets in the way of what is, at the end of the day, a comedy.
If you're around your 30's you will relate to much of what the characters go through, even if you're not Japanese. Every character embodies and parodises one of the "archetypes" of people who, through one way or another, ended up peaking before 30 or lost any hopes of fulfilling their dreams. But every one of them is well-characterised and even though you always know exactly where eac…

One of the most relatable anime I've watched.
When you're an adult, your priorities change, and the way you see the world and the things you have to "endure" are so different from your younger version... It's great to see that it's not just you that goes through that transition.
I did found the characters to be a tad more pessimistic than what we would call normal, and Uramichi has a shadow of depression that has me looking at therapists near him... but it moved me to see how he treated the kids he had to interact with, since he knew it wasn't any of their fault.
The only thing that falls short of a 10 star, is that since it's a slice of life comedy there weren't any twist and turns in the plot, but it was a really enjoyable way to pass the time.

i personally loved it. It has 0 plot, near-zero character development, and average art. Singing is great with Miyano Mamoru and Nana Mizuki, but music overall is "meh" at best. Though I get why the music is children-song-esque, it just doesn't appeal to me. They are cute, just not on my playlist.
Th characters are admittedly rather 2-dimensional, and not much development really ever occurs. Which encouraged me to keep coming back for more after work without worrying about how I've already forgotten the plot and characters, since you don't need to know anything beyond its initial setting to see what's happening in the anime.
I had it rated at 10/10 since I'm absolutely in love with their self-depreciative humour. Dark and cold, and absolutely relatable. It helps me take things in life les…

Probably one of my favorite animes of 2021. I casually discovered it when they announced it and the synopsis immediately caught my attention so I went to read the manga. Guess what. It was the best choice I made.
THING THAT I LIKED:
- I think the most obvious thing about this story is the fair amount of dark humor. That´s what I liked the best. Just like the manga, the anime is divided in sketches where you can see the frightening combination of kid´s cheerfulness and also the inherit depression showed in Uramichi´s way of living (or should I say surviving?)
- The colors and music, all makes you think of a nice children´s show... But that´s only what you see in a superficial level. The song´s lyrics are pretty depressing, you can see bits of the dull life some adult characters have (and…
