🌤The Sun Will Shine Again °7.4° °finishes strong with silver lining° 💯%🔍 minor spoilers only 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Oota Kun must adjust to living with his brand new 👼🏻 sister, Mirai. Mirai gets all the attention🍼 so he battles with jealousy. He doesn't like Mirai... As his parents seem to only pay attention to him if he's in trouble, he's outside alone, and he finds some unexpected friends. These friends bring new insights into life, family, and what it all means. Here's a movie that I struggled to enjoy in the first half because I found all the characters unlikable. It wasn't until 2/3 of the film had passed that I could start to appreciate the ✨. The wrap up is lovely; by the time the credits rolled I was very pleased. This is a 🍭sweet film about a growing family. It is not entirely unli…

4.5/10 ~ So much children crying I really wanted to like this movie because when the good parts are good they really hit right. However this film has to be like actually 30% just 1+ children crying/screaming/complaining, Yes I understand that this pretty accurate, No I dont have to enjoy it. All I could think about is damn, they should have used more protection especially after they had their first child. This movie tried to do the thing that like many Ghibli movies do especially well, capture the point of view of the world through the eyes of a child and really bring out that magic that only children can truly experience. Most of the scene where the MC experiences the wounder were pretty well done, the everything else was just annoying and or just dragged out. Its a real shame becau…

Mirai was by far one of the worst movies I think I've ever seen in my life. Nothing about this film was appealing at all and how it was nominated for best animated film of the year is beyond me. The film Mirai just had so many things wrong with it that I can't even begin to describe. I'll start with Kun: I understand that with being a child you can expect a level of immaturity. At some point in their life, all kids have been immature / brats at some point and that's normal. However, Kun takes it a step further to the point he just feels unlikable. I can't say I fully blame the kid though as his parents were pretty neglectful for the entirety of the film. I get that with a new baby you're going to want to put them first. But the way they do it was horrible. Soon as Mirai came into the pic…

Mirai - 2018 - A movie you should watch with your family on a Sunday evening, because it's a movie about family. My personal experience began with thinking it was about how moments of distance between parents and children lead to children creating "worlds" in their minds and making the mind work as hard as it can to fill the emotional gap and thus draw their own conclusions without a guide to show it the ways of life. From the second stage of the movie, I had a clearer idea: the movie is about how we learn from each other throughout life, living and learning, passing on our experiences to others, be it from grandfather to grandson or brother to sister: the most important thing is to maintain this thread that leads to the human experience. Hosoda really surprised me with this movie, becaus…

"If grandma hadn't let grandpa win that race, we wouldn't be here. Small things like that add up, into something greater than ourselves." The movie shows the point of view of the children in a small house that have some secrets. As the movie progresses, the gorgeous art animation do a excellent job to maintain the attention of the spectator, a garden house tree keeps the connection between the past and the future. Kun meets his future young sister and learns the importance of every stories that happens to the people and family, the responsibility to live every moment. Mirai is the kind of a movie that you can experience what the director wanted to show. Hosoda with a simply/deeply story connected by the house garden, transported small moments in life that have some powerful meanings into…

Is your bratty son being a pain and not adopting well to being the older sibling well? Then order our magic family tree! Plant it in your backyard and be transported to the past, present, and future like A Christmas Carol so they'll truly learn what it means to be a good older sibling. Part of me feels likes I should mark "older brother whacks babysitter on the head with train" with a spoiler 😆 ZombieTrex put it perfectly in his review, I was surprised how episodic this kind of felt, the whole film follows this formula, Kon (the older brother) acts like a brat/mean towards his sister or parents, he ventures out into their house garden where he meets a version of a family member in a different timeline, and they're there to basically teach Kon a lesson on whatever relevant situation just…

Synopsis is very misleading because Mirai is not the one coping with the arrival of his little sister (in fact he's way more pleased than real life brothers would be)... his parents are the ones trying to cope with having two kids, while not giving enough attention to a TODDLER and the husband not knowing jack shit about housework. Overall a nice movie but the entirety of the plot revolving about Mirai learning about love and family or whatever while presenting us a setting where the parents are the stressed out ones with much more to learn... well. To be honest the start left such a bad taste in my mouth I thought I wouldn't enjoy the rest but it was very cute.

Mirai is definitely not going to be a movie for everyone. For starters, the main character of this film is a very bratty 4-year-old. The child can be extremely irritating to watch to the point of being unlikeable. It's worsen when everyone else is so nice and likeable, including the new baby sister. However, that is the intention of the film. The whole focus of Mirai is seeing this bratty kid learn important life lessons and growing into a more capable individual and a better brother for the new sister. Fantasy elements such as seeing an anthropomorphic dog or a middle school age version of his sister are there to give him these lessons in more interesting ways. This leads to some amazing visuals and animation with some stellar sequences. Additionally, the music is great and elevates the…

I'm just now watching "Mirai", the anime movie nominated for the Best Animated Film Oscar as an apology for snubbing "Your Name" the year before. This... This is "We have 'Your Name' at home" energy. Which is a bad sign because I thought "Your Name" was just, y'know, fine. This is 90 minutes of kids screaming because they're being in turns unreasonable and emotionally abused. The kids being unreasonable part I can understand, because they are especially little and little kids can get quite loud. But the main kid just screams So Much, and his parents largely ignore his feelings. Which is where this goes into shades of emotional abuse, what with the mom frequently threatening him with over-the-top punishments in response to temporary inconveniences. That's just a recipe for inter-generation…

I had heard some great things about this and was looking forward to watching it. It didn't meet my expectations but it was okay. The movie title “Mirai” was (supposedly) named after the main character. It wasn’t really based around her life but rather her family members’ lives. The movie dove into the characters' backgrounds, but it lacked character development. It was pretty cool seeing how Kun (Mirai’s brother) was guided by others' wisdom/experiences. I didn’t know where the movie was headed, but the ending really tied everything together. The animation and sound was great. The idea behind the movie was sweet and realistic. The story was something I could almost relate to although the plot was weak. I would rate the movie maybe 7/10

After completing all the major works of Hosoda, Mirai made me realize a thing. Hosoda's central theme in all his movies is family. He has simply redefined the way we see a family. A family is more than blood, more than memories. Family bonds are strong enough to carry us through the closeness of family life, as well as the pain, scars, and sufferings that come with it. Family is an entity that communicates the lesson of compassion, even if no one does it perfectly. Talk about Hana, the central figure of Wolf Children. Though the result of Wolf Child…

Im writing this review as im finishing the movie & im just pretty disappointed with what I've watched. Even if there were some supposed "emotional" moments im already mad with how boring it was. I saw & read some of the ratings thinking they were pretty critical & saw the studio that made it which i respected after watching wolf children but now i understand why people were so critical with this movie. I'm not gonna go into depth with the plot & shit because im too lazy & stupid to even write a whole analysis on the movie but I'll just give my experience. I put this movie on with me & my younger brothers with an open mind thinking this will be a nice movie to watch with my lil bros & there was a message i liked about being nice to your younger siblings or whatever but it was badly executed…

(TLDR at the bottom, thanks for reading.) A short and sweet review for a short and sweet kids film. If you took everything that Mamoru Hosoda has ever made and blended it all and condensed it into a 98-minute film you'd get Mirai. Depending on who you ask this can be good or this can be bad. You could say that Mirai is just reusing Hosuda's old idea's and you could say Mirai is a refinement of everything Hosuda has been building up to. Both of which can be true (depending on your perspective). Mirai doesn't really follow a specific story, there isn't a set goal or task to complete, but instead, it is a story about maturing. While most coming of age anime focus on older teens maturing into adults Mirai focuses on a 4 years-old boy, Kun, learning to be less of a brat. He has gone from bei…

Its about a bratty child, learning lessons. Which is probably important development for him as a person. But to everyone over 10, It's not a mystery why they're like that. And teaching them what is obvious to everyone else is just work. Story: 4 Is there really one? Im trying to think of what I could even say to spoil it. The first 20 minutes repeats itself 4 or 5 times over and nothing happens. Its also very strange. It treats the viewer as having the perspective of the child and expects them to care or learn from it, but it also doesn't feel like a movie for kids. Sound: Idk. The main song thing that plays at the beginning and the end is good, but I didn't notice anything else. 5 Art: 3 Why do these babies look so weird? Kun acts and looks like a weird mix of features and personalit…

This has got to be the most wholesome anime movie I have seen… Story and Theme: The movie beautifully showcases the one-sided sibling rivalry we see amongst a firstborn and a newborn who is just a year or two younger than the former. The elder child feels secluded from their parents love and feel the younger kid is snatching away the love and affection which was solely reserved for him. And finally coming to terms with the fact that your parent won’t be giving you as much time for there is someone who needs them more, as well as coming to love your sibling and acting mature, as an elder sibling should. Such events led to an elder kid developing either a bully attitude or maybe if he comes to an understanding, the attitude of a person who would protect his sibling, no matter what. In…

This movie is very relatable if you have kids. I totally get the struggle with raising little ones! The brother sister dynamic really reminded me of my own son and daughter, (two and four months). It's a really cute film and definitely made me laugh and tear up. The bond of siblings is such a sweet and wonderful thing. And yes, kids really are this dramatic... This film is not only adorable though, but is breathtakingly beautiful. The soundtrack is also perfect and really makes every scene so memorable. Overall, I would definitely recommend if you want something lighthearted and cute... Now, I need to go pick up my sons toys because he just spilled them everywhere...

this film I watched it with my older sister a Thought to my self it this what an alder sibling experiences when the younger sibling enters the household. and yes maybe it is played up in the story to add to the drama. the story can be confusing with some of the experimental ways this story is told are their things happening in the film that is an illusion. and the parents of Kun chan are also not without there fault that throughout the movie the try to grow as parents and it is acknowledged that it is not weird that Kun than in literally being mean. and the parents try to bridge the gap to solve his anger and give him also some of there time.

Mirai no Mirai is the latest output from director Mamoru Hosoda. Who has a pretty decent to good track record as far as I’m aware. Girl Who Leapt through time I enjoyed, Summer Wars was decent, Wolf Children I liked a lot, & Boy & The Beast I thoroughly enjoyed. So I have fairly high expectations for this movie. Lets a go Story: 2/10 The story of Mirai no Mirai is really cool in concept. A young boy gets brought to the future to get taught life lessons from his older sister the aptly named ‘Mirai” along with various other people in his life. Really interesting concept on paper. Too bad the execution blew. The problem with the story is the repetitive structure of the movie. Kun learns something, goes back to being a brat, learns something new, goes back to being a brat, rinse repeat until…

Mirai is a pretty picture that's marvelously animated and sharply directed (I love the long shots where time passes just off screen, as if the house were this timeless constant), but the end product just doesn't come together. It feels like there are two stories here - one, of Kun learning to be less of an annoying little shit, and the other, of the magic of learning your place in your family tree and coming to understand where you come from. Unfortunately, these plots don't work in tandem or feel like they really play into each other; we just start with the A plot and then eventually the B plot just takes over. Since the story is essentially a series of vignettes, the movie has a real herky jerky sense of pacing that doesn't help matters. I don't want to bitch about our main character be…

So basically I just watched this since I haven't watched an anime movie for a very long time as well as having a dub included. I have heard of this movie being mentioned from anitubers but i didn't actually investigate properly if I wanted to see it or not. Anyways here we are 2 years later, unfortunately forced to be stuck indoors til this pandemic gets sorted to God knows when! Right so let us get my opinion shall we?! I gotta say folks, this anime film will certainly put you off being a parent at all like hearing the large amount of cries or tantrums from children, really really drives you up the walls. Definitely Jaden Waldman did a good job on voicing Kun and making me go crazy lol! I really liked the art in this and how Kun was transported to meet his other family from that magica…
