Osamake: Romcom Where the Childhood Friend Won't Lose

Introduction

Sueharu Maru is childhood best friends with one of Hozumino High School's most popular girls, Kuroha Shida. Cute, outgoing, and affectionate, Kuroha is the perfect older sister type. She has boys constantly begging at her feet to be with her. Yet, when she confesses to Sueharu one day, he immediately rejects her; he just can't think of her in that way! Besides, he already has his sights set on his first love—school idol and renowned author Shirokusa Kachi. Sueharu believes that he has a chance with Kachi after one fateful meeting, but soon, he finds out that Kachi has a boyfriend! With his dreams now shattered, Sueharu agonizes over what could have been. That is, until Kuroha approaches him with a proposal: "let's get revenge." [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I genuinely don't know what the fuck I just watched. Osamake had a premise that sounded like it could've been fun. Childhood friend romance, love triangles, revenge, misunderstandings, dramatic bullshit, all that good stuff. The title basically tells you exactly what you're supposed to expect: the childhood friend isn't going to fucking lose. And honestly? I would've been completely fine with a dumb, entertaining romcom that just committed to that idea. Instead, this anime somehow turned into one of the most nonsensical pieces of bullshit I've watched. The biggest problem by FAR is the writing. 1/10. I'm not even trying to be harsh with that score. The story constantly feels like it's being held together with duct tape. Characters make decisions because the plot needs them to, misunders…

Ayo, this anime has got to be one of the best harem-romance anime I've ever seen but, why is the rating so low? Like, where was the problem? The animation was amazing, the story is just ecstatic, the character development is solid, the way everybody's past has been shown is perfect and the fact that every character(even the side characters) are aware of their feelings, the MC is also not an air-head I mean anyone who would be put in his situation would act the same. All in all, the anime was very relatable which made it a great watch for me. And for those who didn't understand the ending, IT WAS THE ENDING OF THE MOVIE "CHILD KING" NOT THE ANIME, I REPEAT THE ENDING WAS NOT OF THE ANIME. So, stop giving negative remarks on this absolute gem. I just hope the misunderstanding about the endin…

Osamake is a romcom, a messy and all-over-the-place rom-com but can be charming if you enjoy its virtues, which are few but there are. Those virtues are the premise, a mix of harem, rom-com with suspenseful mind games, and how its development is promising at first which is tied to the MC (Maru) development through the story which it happens along with other girls of the harem. However, is the execution where it greatly fails. The story tries to blend rom-com with mind games (which include alliances, plot twists, and info dumps) among the members of the harem. Turning each arc into some sort of Battle Royale where the objective is to make Maru fall for one of the girls and to achieve that each of the girls will use any means possible they have on their hands and all of that happens in pa…

This would be an anime that would score a borderline at 3 and lower than 5. Its pretty subpar. Having meh characters, and flawed storyline. That’s all I gotta say. Its not the worse in the world however, because there are some good gems into it like the comedy which is there and some pretty decent music which makes up for the issues I have explained earlier. If this has a second season, I would probably give this a similar score if it remains the same, but if they happened to improve on the episodes for the second season, then I would give this higher than even a 5. I feel like this anime needs a season 2 and the reason this should really NEED a second season is that the ending just feels incomplete and It’s really misunderstood to the fact it has zero logic and zero common sense into it.…

SPOILER-FREE! If you were to ask me what genre of story I hate, the answer I’d give is that I don’t hate any, and that’s the truth. What I will say however is that while there are no genres I hate, there are genres that for whatever reason give me more trouble than other ones, and that varies from person to person. I mentioned in my "Those Snow White Notes" review that music anime and I don’t precisely see eye-to-eye that often, and romantic comedy would be the other one that immediately comes to mind. Regardless, I do find it important to see entertainment in those genres that give you trouble, because as I often say to my own music students, “There are no genres you dislike – there are merely pieces of music you like in those genres that you have yet to listen to.” Finding those things c…

Probably contain spoiler, i warm you my friend I make it short and quick since this is old anime, almost a year old so i use old review template, its pros and cons Based on my experience back in 2021 (because i didnt use MAL yet, so i didnt write review that day) Pros : Loveable character, they have solid lineup, Kachi is basically the most mature woman in this anime, Kuroha is also solid childhood friend who didnt cringe as much as other character in other anime, Maria is basically yea cringe little sister (i didnt call her as heroine, i prefer her become little sister more than lover) Everyone have pretty good relationship, like kachi like haru when first meet him during haru first visit to her mansion, kuroha basically like big sister who always there for haru, and maria is just like…

I can't give this anime a note of 10/10 ( Masterpiece ) cause' the Story and the " Romance " sh1t sucks a lot. I will never like to see a " revenge " thing in a romance genre Movie/Anime for love, cause it's not worth it, a " revenge " for " love " can cause a lot of trouble in the current state or " relationship ". What I mean it's that ( and what I don' like )( and what I think ) it's that EVERYTHIME when Kachi Shirosuka was gonna do something with Maru Sueharu aka Suu-chan he was telling to Kai Tetsuhiko. Same thing it's gonna apply for Shida Kuroha, if they talked to Maru Sueharu about something in private, after they finished talking and everyone left, they would start and telling everything to Kai Tetsuhiko. So overall this is the thing that I hate about this Anime, but there a lot m…

Osamake is a travesty beyond the limitations of human speech. Words cannot express how god-awful this burning pile of putrid rotting pig-shit lying in a swamp full of blue-green algae, gamergirl bathwater, and every infectious disease known to mankind truly is. Now allow my to explain why. Osamake should have had a very simple premise -> a harem of girls compete to win the heart of the protagonist who are all his childhood friends (because that trope isn't dead or anything). However it somehow wasn't satisfied with the most overdone premise in the universe, because they decided to also make the show about acting (and proceed to grace us with some of the worst musical numbers ever produced in the history of mankind) AND for good measure decided that every single being in the show of the fe…

A fresh retake on the old Childhood friend RomCom Destroyed by a frankly lackluster execution. You have a beautiful trio of ladies with their own takes on the past of the MC. Each one with a different take to falling in to a relationship with the MC. This show should had been so much better, but instead in an effort to emphasize the childhood friend. Broadcasted her as an over the top Highschooler with on-the-go decision making but with the mindset of a gradeschooler. As you watch by the episodes, the story does slowly develop on to the MC's past being the prime of the series but. It then suddenly comes to a screeching halt when all it felt like. Were two lackluster attempts at capturing the heart of the MC with again his past being the prime. You, the reader can probably understand. H…

The anime really seemed very bad to me, I mean it's not bad but it has characters that you decide how you're going to do that. The animation and soundtrack is very good, the character design is very cliche, there was no character evolution. They are still the same as when the series begins, that bored me. Now speaking of relationships at the beginning of the anime it focuses on a love triangle, and you say well the typical but after a few chapters, where we already had a more or less formed relationship they reject the protagonist just because he wanted to reject him and then the whole series tries manipulating him to confess again seems like a shitty character to me. Besides, if you love a person even if he is in love with her, you are going to want him to be happy, that is the saddest an…

Let's get one thing straight. This show is not to watched if you are looking for something serious. That being said, when I go into a show, I never expect something serious. There are probably a few spoilers in here but whatever. First off, this is a light harem show. You may say "harem is harem" if you want and ignore it completely. I've seen people complain about it solely for being a harem show. That is a load of bull. Most harem shows that I have seen result in the whole harem aspect just being accepted by the characters, I'm looking at you every generic harem isekai out there. Fortunately, in this show, the different girls consistently try to butt everyone else out of the competition, even if they are a bunch of manipulative assholes. Secondly, the name of the show is ingenious. L…

The fact that every love interest is his childhood friend kinda ruins the whole point of the title (even tho the title is just for bait). The thing that really made it hard for me to finish this anime, is the sad main character. Almost every character in the anime manipulates the main character as if he don't know what he is doing at all. His love interests manipulates him, his best friend, someone he hated and even a maid who serves one of his love interests. While everyone around him play with him for their own benefit, he carry on because he doesn't suspect a thing. It is kinda like when you are at school, while a rumor has gone around the whole school but you are the only one who hasn't heard the rumor. Not gonna lie, this was just pathetic.

ARE YOU DEBATING ON WATCHING THIS? I think I've gathered a good consensus to try and defend it and I'll list the charges that it's convicted of then state my case. I spoil a few things just to get my point across for evidence but I think seeing it played out will still have the intended effect. CHARGE A: EPISODE 1 - A no brainer. So, I started this and really liked the character designs. I was thinking it was going to go a route where she's been there for him this whole time. Nope. They make it a revenge plot, which is a stupid plot but that's not where it ends up staying. To make his crush, Kachi, jealous, this girl, Kuro, volunteers to be his revenge girlfriend. Why her? She's genuinely interested. Some people do like this though and were just disappointed that it wasn't a parody. CHA…

Before I get into how much and why I hate this series, I'll say the things I like about it. It has a pretty good op and ed. Now, onto why I despise this awful anime. I have two main problems, the story, and the characters. First off, the story, each part of the story is a mess of drama where the problems are only barely solved because of the ineptitude of the characters trying to solve them. Its story runs like a bad satirical romcom that doesn't realize that its satire. The only funny parts of this show are seeing the failures of its writing team either at actually writing a functional story or writing funny jokes. I wouldn't be surprised if the writers were arriving at work under the influence of alcohol and/or several heavy substances. Any plot point is as if someone sniffed a sharpi…

1/10 (0 in my opinion) THESE ARE ONLY OPINION, IM NOT SAYING THIS IS FACTS OR ANYTHING ******************STORY***************************************************************************** The story is straight mediocrely bad, it had a lot of potential in the first episode. Around the beginning the story is good, but it became bad when the mc became friends with the black haired girl, I think that's where the story became just another harem with a cringe-ass mc. ******************ART******************************************************************************* The art is good ******************SOUND**************************************************************************** The dialogues are cringey, and will make you want to watch a better anime. Especially when the mc is screaming…

This has to be one of the biggest letdowns I have felt, regarding the ending of a romcom. It seemed like the characters were finally being fleshed out, only for the series to drop the ball in the last 2 episodes. For context, the character building is really good(if you don't mind some slightly cringy, stereotypical anime characters). The girls actually had personalities, and I found that I enjoyed seeing the interactions between the characters. Unfortunately, it seemed like the writers had no idea as to where to end the season, as it ends in the middle of what seems to be the series climax. The final episode is then ended with a out-of-place 2 minute clip, that tries to make up for the multiple episodes that were needed for the plot. All the complaints aside, the character design is fan…

"Damn it! My IQ is melting away..." - Maru Sueharu... ...and every person who finished this anime. Before I begin, let me answer the obvious. Does this show need another bad review? No, of course not. Especially when I'm a few weeks late to the party cause I was on holiday and otherwise too busy with better shows. That being said, I'm gonna write one anyway because my other options include starting work on my dissertation and data wrangling. The choice is obvious. OVERALL 3/10 Osamake had a promising concept and start, but fell short on everything I was hoping it would deliver. If you have 6 hours you would like to spend and then forget about them in a month, I highly recommend this show. If, on the other hand, you want a novel take on the love comedy formula, look elsewhere. Spoiler…

Interesting story, interesting and kawaii characters, but animated feet. (spoiler) The scene when dancing and falling down the stairs was really really stiff. It's not clear what he sings and what dances he does, but the audience said it was cool and very good. It's better if the scene doesn't exist because it's cringy and not very clear, imagine people moving awkwardly on stage but the audience is happy and that's considered good. And when the scene fell from the stairs, it's not clear what happened, suddenly a broken hand bone. There doesn't seem to be any wound or bleeding, just the sound. It should be possible to make the scene more interesting, like how the collision was shown. The rest I think is good and there are lots of fan service and jokes that make me really jealous. And the ad…
