Robotic Notes is the sequel to Chaos Child and takes place after Chaos Head. It is stand alone and accessible to anyone who has not seen the previous anime. What is notable about the Robotic Notes entry is its focus on previous events on what has happened over the years and returning cast members from Steins Gate.
It focuses on the robotics club on Tanegashima now led by Akiho Senomiya and her close friend Kaito Yashiro who are the only members of the club from their high school. Over the years, the club has become very technologically advance but no Tanegashima is in dire financial straits and members are trying desperately to prevent the robotics club from closing.
The team starts recruiting new members from their classrooms to help complete a new robot that has been in development f…

This story was kind of... average? It didn't jump out to me at all but it was a relatively intuitive concept. It was enjoyable, but it did not feel like anything particularly special.
My opinion on the animation jumps from being very engaged to being able to tell the different layers apart - you can see when something is a background layer because the art style isn't actually the same.
The voice acting is comedic and well done. The openings and endings were decent. They kind of blended together a bit but were good to bob your head to.
Kona Furugoori (Frau Koujiro) - The creator of Kill-Ballad. She joins the Robotics Club as the team's programmer.
Akiho Senomiya - The main female protagonist of the series. She is the President of the Robot Research Club.
Kaito Yashio (Kai) The main…

Alright let's keep it simple here. Out of the 4 current main line Science;Adventure anime adaptations, this and Steins;Gate/S;G0 are probably the only ones worth watching. Robotics;Notes and Steins;Gate both benefit massively from the extended runtime of 24 episodes, as the other adaptations only have a measly 12. This isn't a review of them though, and I encourage you to do your own research as I'm just giving my opinion. (Unfortunately I don't think very highly of C;H or C;C's adaptations.)
Robotics;Notes (the anime adaptation) manages to faithfully bring the characters and events that take place within the visual novel and translate them into a visual medium. If you don't necessarily have the time/money to invest in the visual novel, I firmly believe that this is an adaptation worth yo…

Overview:
"Robotics;Notes" is an anime that is best described as "Steins;Gate"'s lesser-known younger brother. Not only are they both based on visual novels created by the same people, but they are both set in the same universe. But while "Steins;Gate" was a cautious study of time-travel and the consequences it can bring, "Robotics;Notes" is an optimistic look at robots and the potential that can be achieved with them. Unfortunately, while it does succeed in delivering an interesting, enjoyable sci-fi series, "Robotics;Notes" ultimately never even comes close to filling the huge shoes left behind by its predecessor.
Story (7/10):
The series is set in 2019 (which, at the time of release, was in the near future), on the rural island of Tanegashima. It revolves around two childhood friends,…

Quick take: Robotics;Notes is a rarity in that nothing it does is particularly outstanding, but the combination of everything it does well leads to an enjoyable show I highly recommend. If you're looking for mecha, you won’t find it here, but the storyline is well worth it.
This anime is driven by storyline and character growth. You won’t find much robot battle in this anime and most of it will be lackluster. You're watching five students grow into good friends and a mystery unfold on their small island. The mystery itself is nothing special but has a few twists, although I wouldn’t consider them profound in anyway. Nonetheless, it kept me guessing most of the time, was coherent and entertaining. Occasionally you'll find that the story is stretched a little thin or far-fetched, but that d…

This is the third adaptation of a visual novel made by Nitroplus, after Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate. And no, despite all three VNs taking place in the same setting, they have absolutely no connection to each other, besides a few Easter eggs with no relevance to the plot. You don’t need to watch the earlier shows in order to better understand what is going on. In fact, they are so distinctive in their plots and characters, that each one leaves you with an equally different feeling.
- C;H is enraging you for wasting so many good concepts in a messy plot full of stereotypes and cop-out battles.
- S;G is exciting you for having so many lively characters and an interesting blend of mystery and science fiction.
- R;N is making you … feel nothing. Really. There is nothing in it.
The show is anima…

First, I want to point out that in the first episode there's reference to both Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head, but they're never referenced again so you don't have to watch either before watching Robotics;Notes.
Characters 3/10
Aki is the president of the Robot Research Club and her dream is to build a fully functional real life giant robot. Aki has a lot of energy and passion for robots and she's determined to make her dream come true despite what anyone tells her. Unfortunately, this makes her seem annoying and childish, partly because Aki's motivation for building a giant robot is to prove her older sister wrong that she isn't mediocre. Seriously, every time Aki mentions her sister, I just want to grab her by the shoulders and scream "stop caring what your sister thinks of you!"
Kai is a…

I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOOOOVE IT, are the words I would begin to describe this show. There is something compelling about a self-aware Gundam show that takes its self seriously with its characters, plot, action, and comedy. Before I get into the explanation part I’ll have to recommend the dub if you plan to watch this. This has by far one of the best dubs I’ve seen, it’s got great localization for North America and the actors fit perfectly. It’s a see to believe it kind of deal. It really helped improve the show for me and if given a chance might be a great experience for you as well.
Spoilers as usual
Story: Initially I had some doubts about the story, it starts out by talking about saving the world and then jumps into a comedy style club group? This may already seem to be the perfect…

I wasn't expecting much out of this, honestly. I blame my affection for the Steins;Gate duology on that, along with my not having read the source VN beforehand. While its story is all-over-the-place, and the sound- + art-work aren't superb, the characterization is pretty solid! Read on if you want to see someone's thoughts on R;N without the VN.
[Story - 6]
There are really /several/ stories going on - one is the Robotics Club trying to achieve their goal of making a life-sized mecha, another is the conspiracy behind the 'Kimijima Reports', AND another is about two teens trying to reconnect with a sibling that has abandoned them. While the Club + Teen stories are (usually) woven together well, the existence of the 'Kimijima Reports' plot caused a lot of focus division. In turn, this mad…

Before you read this:
1) Excuse my Englisj
2) in this review (BTW my first review) i'll try to highlight what I enjoyed the most while watching this show. To spell my opinion in one sentence "An unsatisfying Ending for a great build-up".
Problems: For starters, the first episodes makes you fell a there is a slow pace and caps feel longer than 25 minutes. I don't mind that slow pace but the show just went from really slow to dam fast (leaving things unexplained). That is a problem most series have, they've got 5 or 6 episodes left to finish the story and just rush it. I don't know if this was the case but the last 5 or 6 episodes could've been streched in another 10 and explained some loose ends, give the impact needed to some MAYOR EVENTS and give screantime to side characters that were p…

It's anime's like these that make me remember why sit and spend hours dreaming of the future. Once again Production I.G never ceases to amaze. They created such a beautiful and tear jerking masterpiece. This anime had from the start reminded me Tengan Toppan Gurren Lagann, of how good always wins - how they were never able to give up. This did not feel like 506 minutes, instead it felt as though I had witnessed someones memories. Truly amazing - through start and finish. Steins;Gate is a classic for me but all these alternate settings; Chaos;Head, Chaos;Child and Robotics;Notes - they are all just amazing.
I would recommend to sit down and watch this and it's something that sets the standard for anime.

This anime was pretty good overall. I enjoyed it most of the way through. But through the first half I had NO IDEA what kind of show it was trying to be. At first I thought it was a generic club anime where ppl are trying to get members to keep their club going. Then it turned into a mecha fight tournament show, then it got all creepy and turned into a thriller kind of show. But near the end it really surprised me (Mild spoiler) when the the main girl Aki-chan was like "After you get back from you mission I have something important to tell you". And I was like "Oh god shes gonna confess her love to him and its the MC is gonna be all dense and not know whats going on cuz all MC's r fckin morons who don't know whats going on". But in reality Hes pretty smart and confessed to her instead and…

Set in the Steins;Gate universe can be appreciated by any mecha fan, and even more so by a Gurren Lagann/Gundam Fans or by the robotic computer creation clubs in high school. Gun Barrel can be equated to the favored mecha show had the show cause havoc.
The ever so ambitious Aki attempts to succeed her sister in the creation of a life size replica of Gun Barrel. With her club members builds the dream of building the hope that stands that's Gun Barrel that Aki’s sister abandoned after graduating high school to work at a high tech company.
Utilizing those slice of life moments with wireless PED’s [snapchat filters(AR’s)/GPS caching/ and of course high school] to enclose our hearts closer to a childish dream, that became grander than it seemed.
Aki a strong female lead smart, willful, of a…

Story: 10/10
Let's start with a confession of mine - out of the trio, Robotics;Notes is my favorite, and it brought me much, much more joy that the over praised Steins;Gate (those of you who read my other reviews, must know I did not find it as astonishing). I was extremely sceptical about this one as, well, it has something related to robots in the title, as I hate mechas. Plus, the major disappointment in Steins;Gate. The first episode made me grind my teeth as I was certain there is no way I can keep up with this anime for solid 22 episodes. However, the second episode offered a different them…

I wish they would try to pick one way or another and not try to get the best of both worlds.
The anime starts out as a slice of life, a club wanting to build a giant robot. Okay, fair. That in itself could be a very interesting anime. Did you really need to include the part where they save the world too? Like if you wanted to do a mech, do a mech anime from the get go. If you wanted to do a slice of life, do a slice of life. I really enjoyed the beginning half of the anime where it was actually a slice of life mixed in with a little mystery. Then it just started to tumble downhill...
The art is good. This anime takes place in the same universe as Steins;Gate, so you don't need to worry about the animation and art being bad. I thought the color scheme was pretty and the designs for the ro…

I'll keep the review short and simple just to get my grievances out.
After reading so many reviews that compared this anime to Stein's;Gate (my personal favorite, I was pretty excited to start it. I kinda regret it now.
At first glance Robotics;Notes comes off as a simple story about a couple students scrambling together what support they can gain to keep their robotics club open, build their dream robot and enter a competition. That's really all it should've been. But sadly, a secondary story line is shoehorned in to, in my opinion, make the show seem more complex than it needed to be and in the end it just comes off as boring, hastily written and a bit pretentious.
The second story line deals with some vague event that occurred in the past (which is mentioned once…

*EDIT THIS IS A REREVIEW
After watching the series over again my opinions have definitely changed, so I would like to rewrite this review.
There are few anime out there that can express passion, as well as this one. A story about a girl who enjoys stem and wants to follow her dream is definitely something you don't see in many animes. Its an original fresh of air that you might want to watch casually. Its slice of life for the most part and scifi for the rest. As a hobbyist of electronic engineering this anime gets my internels tingling, the passion of someday achieving the impossible, is goal I also strive for. I feel that the feelings are so well conveyed by the characters. *I highly recommend watching the dub for this anime. I personally hate most funimation dubs as they are the worst…

I'm not sure what I expected, but it actually is an anime about robots. It just tries to present the (mecha) genre in a new way, by attempting to shift it from fantasy to reality. So at times it deconstructs the mecha genre, but it doesn't commit to it the way I'd expect. It just goes halfway with the real life approach mentality. It wants best of both words but it ends up missing both of them in the process. That said, it would be inaccurate to call this mecha anime, but it would also be inaccurate to not call it that. I guess that in itself is a plus.
Some of its style and themes are similar to Steins;Gate, mainly the scientific conspiracy plot coupled with otaku culture, in near future SF setting. Same as S;G, it's praiseworthy that even though it's aimed a lot at otaku culture, it sta…

What about Robotics; Note as well is kind of complicated present something here that elevates the experience.
Robotics; s Note presents a plot with a good potential that is wasted with the follow-up of the plot, it starts to become very visible when trying weapon an element of suspense, where the climax is broken at the moment of revelation, making the plot regress and return to starting point.
The act is repeated a few times, making the story dragged and even a little boring.
There also falls steadily when the anime begins to thrill, the pace drops of nowhere, getting frustrate, this act of ups and downs to get to be unpredictable.
Your end result is quite tolerable, managing raise some moments that worth it, even with all these problems is an interesting anime, with an interesting hist…

Note: I rate with a scale of 5 being average
Overall i really wanted to like this show more that I did. I feel that whoever wrote and directed this knew the major notes they had to hit to make this type of show work, but didn't know what to do in between those and fumbled a bit on the ending.
Story: 6
The broad strokes for the story were done right, but overall i have to say it was a bit of a mess. The basic layout is a more grounded slice of life story for the 1st half in order to put together the cast and catheterize them. This part is honestly done pretty well and the lead into the 2nd half is done well and grabbed my interest. The 2nd half is this larger worldwide greater evil conspiracy story with a decent little twist. This is sadly where the story falls apart. Many things are left…
