Romantic Killer

Romantic Killer

Introduction

Anzu Hoshino needs only three things in her life: video games, chocolate, and her beloved cat. Unlike other high school girls, Anzu has no time for or interest in romance. But as she begins playing a poorly programmed 3D otome game, a bizarre flying wizard named Riri emerges from the screen and calls Anzu "subject one," the first person who will experience a dating game harem storyline in real life. Despite Anzu's fiery protests, Riri confiscates her favorite things to force her to focus on love. Riri orchestrates a series of unlucky incidents and romantic cliches that lead her to meet Tsukasa Kazuki, one of the most attractive boys in her school. Still enraged, Anzu is adamant about resisting Tsukasa's charm. As all the ridiculous fabricated scenarios help Anzu warm up to Tsukasa's pleasant nature, Riri throws other stereotypical pretty boys her way—and avoiding romance quickly becomes almost impossible. It takes a bit to warm up with the goofy antics, but it is honestly so fun and so cute! I had such fun with it, and I truly hope we get a second season! I think sometimes people take the media they watch as too serious. It's a fun anime with jokes, funny faces, and all-around good characters. It's 12 episodes and doesn't have a lot of time to be anything more. The last arc of the series was really good and I like how it turned around. It was really feel-good. :) I enjoyed it enough to write a review!

Hmm how would I rate it. From the beginning it had a touch of comedy so it was only +. The characters didn't really bother me but how can you say that. The main character was great (it's not always in a romantic anime that you find a girl who prefers games to romance so another +) but that can't be said about some of the characters. Tsukasa I really liked his behavior being cold towards girls and not interested in love I like characters like that the most in romance, what I didn't have to do was his past which they had to bring up towards the end and which just ruined the whole thing for me the same thing with Saki I wasn't interested in her past either (it was enough for me when they mentioned it marginally) playing on feelings is not for me as well as the fact that they make themselves…

Honestly, the plot is interesting, but it's a shame the execution fell flat because I felt like there were way too many plot holes. For example, episode 1 was presented kind of weirdly—a fairy suddenly pops out of a simulation game just to help Anzu with her love life, and Anzu doesn't even question why she was chosen in the first place. I also wasn't really a fan of Anzu's character development, especially during the comedy scenes, which felt a bit forced at times. The pacing is inconsistent here and there, and while the animation is a little stiff, it's still watchable. Bottom line: this anime is enjoyable enough, but it won't really keep you on the edge of your seat.

Gosh, what can I say...I accidentally stumbled onto this show expecting something completely different, yet it turned out to be more of an otome, romcom, something like that. Usually, I'm picky about those, especially with the concept of the reverse harem, but the humor made me stay. At first, certain characters may seem infuriating, but throughout the show, they are given more and more depth until you realize that in the span of 12 episodes, your perspective of them completely changed. Secondly, the music is absolutely amazing. The opening gives off a romance vibe typical of its genre but sounds just a little bit too emotional?...this choice eventually makes sense once you complete the anime, and I could not ask for a better opening. The ending? It's a damn freaking masterclass. It…

Holy shit this anime was so good. The main girl reminds me of me and the hot guys are like my friend connor. Connor is so in love with me but I just wanna game and eat chocolate. This is one of the best anime I have ever seen I found myself laughing out loud every other minute. I am a big fan of comedies that get me to laugh irl ngl. The anime had a lot of strong points like the characters were all fire, there wasnt one that I disliked. Even the wizard grew on me. I hope connor stops trying to ask me out one day.

Honestly just nothing special. Definitely had its redeemable moments but I didn’t find myself attached to any character in any way. I was pretty much bored from episode 3 and beyond. I honestly don’t understand all the hype this show was getting, as it just seems like a romantic comedy with uninteresting romance and shoddy comedy. Some people would enjoy this type of show but it just ended up being more annoying than meaningful. I’ll give it some points for art style and minimal fan service, but I’m disappointed in most other aspects. Characters were pretty bland aside from the main character and wizard. 5/10

Romantic Killer charmed me. The heroine, Anzu, is a girl after my own heart: she prefers cats, chocolate, and video games to dating. Finally, a protagonist with priorities. The story isn’t meant to be taken too seriously, but it still manages to explore themes like emotional growth, personal boundaries, and friendship. It’s funny, fast-paced, and surprisingly wholesome in moments. Even though some plot points are exaggerated for comedy, the characters still feel grounded and grow over time. The animation is colorful and expressive, perfectly matching the chaotic energy of the story. Anzu’s reactions are over-the-top in the best way, and the magical mascot character Riri is both hilarious and unhinged. Overall, Romantic Killer is a fun watch with heart. If you enjoy comedy with a subversi…

Romantic Killer (ロマンティック) is genuinely one of my favourite animes I’ve ever watched. Phenomenal romcom with great humour. Solid and interesting plot, great animation, well written characters, fun designs, amazing dynamic artstyle and overall just a great series. And all that with just 12 episodes. I also love that they didn’t follow the happy OP, mellow EP trope and had a banger hyper-energetic eurobeat EP, subverting expectations not just in the series' plot itself, but even in the presentation. The blend of the gorgeous, incredibly smooth 2D animation and the silly goofy 3D is SO GOOD. The animation is really stellar, especially the character animation and FX animation. Very energetic and expressive. Huge recommendation for sure!

Romantic Killer is a show about poking fun at common anime tropes, and is honestly entertaining to watch each attempt at a romance be crushed by the main character. Its an interesting take on the genre and it definitely works in accomplishing what it sets out to do. To avoid spoilers, I wont go into detail but this series genuinely dropped the ball at the very last moment. This moment was a scene that was anime-only (as far as I know) and I seriously cannot figure out why they would do it. This scene alone drops this series from like an 8 to a 5 or 6. It doesn't add anything to the plot, develop a character, or anything but solely to undermine what the second half of the show was talking about and to potentially set up another season despite the manga finishing with season 1. They should'v…

(mild-vague spoilers) Romantic Killer is one of those animes where, after reading the synopsis, you’re convinced it’s mediocre, but then get pleasantly surprised when it turns out so much better than you anticipated. I saw this on Netflix one day, and I thought, wow this looks so generic, but it was a Friday night and I had nothing better to do… so why not? I’ll start by saying that Romantic Killer does not try to break out of the cut and dry romcom mold. The girl who’s nice to everyone trope, the summer festival, the toast in mouth, the forced proximity… Yep, it’s all there. So then why should you watch it? The thing about Romantic Killer is that, as an otome game parody, it embraces these tropes instead of intentionally presenting them. Romantic Killer doesn’t take itself too seriousl…

I really enjoy anime which try and explore the usual genre conventions/tropes of the medium. Romantic Killer does this in a way to shoujo/romance anime but mainly try's to parody and satire dating sim games. Overall I found this anime really funny and wish there was more of it. First off I would say that the animation and character designs were really good. In general I like when shows use animation for comedic effect (eg Bocchi the Rock). This is also done somewhat in Romantic Killer which I really enjoyed. Also just the general animation was super smooth and looked pretty good. Not groundbreaking but great for a modern anime. The characters were also well done for example the MC Anzu just had a great design which really conveyed her character. As well as the designs of the supposed love…

I went into this anime completely blind, and didn't really know what to expect. I haven't watched too many shoujo anime, and from the tags this looks like this isn't even categorized as a shoujo. Well either way, the series is a bit of a parody of lots of shoujo romance tropes, and it does a good job. The main character Anzu isn't interested in romance at all, and just want to play games, eat chocolate, and play with her cat. For some reason a wizard comes in, and takes that all away while forcing her to get into romantic situations. She's against it, and fights it at every turn though. Anzu is a great character, and the best part of the show. The other characters aren't that bad either, but they do fall into the usual stereotypes. They take some time to give them interesting enough back…

I have been watching anime for 15 years (how am I 30 already? No regrets though, 30 years well spent so far), with an emphasis on isekai and romance. I'm not going to say I'm infallible, but I have an opinion on this one. There is a lot to like, but also things I disagree with. It is a classic dating sim format with love interests that have surprisingly fine backgrounds. It takes a bit for those backgrounds to be realized, so be a bit patient. My qualms with the series begin with the main character being relatively unlikable in the beginning, which takes me out of the emersion because why should anyone give this lame violent person the time of day. In the end though, we find that it wasn't just plot convenience, but circumstance that would lead these people to give the protagonist the time…

Netflix if you cancel one more good show I am going to lose my mind. I was bored and wanted something nice and simple, like any typical shoujo, to entertain myself. And then I stiumbled upon this anime, not expecting much. You can imagine my surprise when I became glued to my seat, binging the whole thing in one go. I really enjoyed the whole plot surrounding the romance in this anime, I think its much better than the romance itself, with plot twists and complicated backstories as well as recurring trauma/issues. The romance itself was lackluster, I wanted a little more of it but I didn't mind much because of how good the actual plot is. However, I will say the male leads just felt like they were multiplying for no real reason because all of us knew that other than the first two, the comp…

Romantic Killer was fun to watch, it's the kind of show that can be enjoyed both by romcom fans and viewers who aren't used to this genre. It is using a parody angle to build its story, and while it does work to some extent, it also has some shortcomings and I'll try to explain my point of view down below, without spoiling anything. The show starts off with an interesting premise and going for a parody to make fun of the usual tropes we find in romcoms works pretty well, the story manages to give a somewhat believable explanation for everything that is happening. The jokes aren't that original but they are usually well executed and the cast of characters is quite likable, and while the rhythm wasn't flawless ( the transitions between the mini arcs felt a bit abrupt ), we can praise this…

Wow i did not expect to like this anime so much! I was bored and just picked it because my friend mentioned it once, i completely expected to play it and get distracted with my phone instead but wow it sucked me in. It can be kind if hard to get through the first episode, i felt like it moved too slow and i found the main character kind of insufferable but very quick i found i couldnt stop watching. The main character is still kind of really annoying at times but when the shows gets a little more serious it really makes up for it all. The side/romantic interest characters are easily the best part of this anime and i loved seeing their bond and dynamic grow. It was very comforting to watch I 100% recommend!!

The only reason this didn’t get a 10 was because of the ending. The end honestly felt like you were being left on a cliff hanger. I know that was kinda the point but it also wasn’t super satisfying. Overall though this anime was HILARIOUS !!!!! The sub and dub were both really good but the sub was absolutely phenomenal. Especially the main character she did amazing. The animation itself was beautiful and really funny. It expressed so much emotion and flowed so well. I was in tears watching this anime, every episode cracked me up. Highly highly recommend I’m so happy I decided to watch it

Honestly didnt expect this to be a comedy has IT was. I thought it was just another high school love drama anime, but it wasnt. Its simply a story about a girl trying to prove that love cant be forced and that items can not replace humans in a very videogame-comedy alike way. The story has a very Nice finished round off, which answeer some questions/Backstory, along with giving it optional to make a season 2 or leave it like that without being on a cliffhanger. Characters and their backstory are interesting. The intro and outro is Nice but also funny. The way its been drawen can in the start feel very weird , and I mean very! But after a couple of Episodes it dosent bother you anymore. Or maybe you like this style i dunno. So if u really want an anime that is fun to watching but als…

screaming, crying, eating my pillow, hurling, doing a 100m sprint, oml finishing this has left me with that feeling when you finish something that is just so godamn good that you get that sadness its over and the despair that you'll never find something like it again. This is going to be one of my less critical reviews because gosh I am simply gushing over this one. I binged it all in one (with a dinner break) sitting and it captured my full attention the entire time. I went into this knowing absolutely nothing, never heard of it or the manga - I simply thought it was going to be another romance anime with a 'quirky' lead like toradora, but oh boy was I in for a ride: Romantic Killer is a parody of the romance genre, it takes the reverse harem trope and puts a unique spin onto it. All wit…
