Food Wars! The Third Plate: Totsuki Train Arc

Food Wars! The Third Plate: Totsuki Train Arc

Introduction

A dark age of cooking befalls Tootsuki Culinary Academy. With the Elite Ten's devastating coup d'état, Azami Nakiri is now the director of the prestigious school. Students must now conform to Azami's ideology of "true gourmet food" and are forbidden to express creativity, or else face expulsion. However, Souma Yukihira and the members of the Polar Star Dormitory refuse to accept these changes. Aided by other rebellious first-years, including the tenth seat, Erina Nakiri, Souma and his allies band together to fight off supporters of Azami's regime. But corrupt instructors and the menacing Central organization stand in their way, and so they must work together, harder than ever before, to survive every underhanded plot designed to banish them from the school. This is some of the laziest work I've seen in the past ten years. The animation is stiff, weightless, and perfectly static most of the time. There is a maximum of one cook-off per episode, and there is way too much time spent on reaction shots of the various jobbers who don't get to cook, but just exist to support Soma. There is no reason for the evil organization Central to allow the cook-offs to happen, and when all the nobodies get eliminated, Soma will just get them back in The Big Competition, because there can be no emotion, no consequences, despite the manga almost running as long as Dragon Ball, which had lots of meaningful character death. And that's a manga with resurrection! The "clothes explode off of diners" bit is so tired, it feels like we're flogging a dead horse. There'…

The totsuki train arc is the second part of the third season of Shokugeki no Souma. It's a direct continuation of the first part and similar in many aspects. The story is now about a series of cooking battles the rebels need to survive to not be expelled and to have a chance at completing their goals. It's a bit less exciting than the first part of the third season but still very enjoyable overall. The characters are clearly working towards a goal and it's very easy to root for them. The characters, animation, music and voice acting are similar or the same as in the first part of the third season. Overall this is a good continuation of the third season and fun to watch if you liked the previous season. It's slightly less exciting but still very good with great cooking battles.

First season: 10/10 2nd Season: 8/10 3rd Season part 1: 10/10 How about 3rd season part 2? Hmmm...I gave it an 8/10, but it's closer to 7.5 honestly. I didn't want to go as low as 7 because I still enjoyed it quite much. But it's obviously the weakest of the Shokugeki series so far. So what makes it so bad, and why did I still score it 8/10? Well the goods: Still a lot of laughs. The characters still do a fine job bounching off each other, although there isn't much development. The storyline is alright- it's just that part 1 set such high expectation that compared to part 2, ehhh I kind of feel a little deflated the route they went. But it's still a solid storyline. Soma does get some development, but to me he's actually more of a "negative" this series (I'll explain more in a bit). The…

While it has been a while since I watched the first two seasons of Food Wars, it's sad how much less I enjoyed this season (particularly S3 part 2) compared to the previous ones & there are several obvious reasons why my enjoyment decreased so dramatically. For starter's I can only suspend my belief so much. The challenge of having Central trying to expel some rebellious students from the school & ONLY wanting gourmet restaurants just seems so far-fetched to me. I can't imagine it would actually be that hard to kick some kids out if they really wanted to, especially since Central has no issues playing unfairly. I also cannot comprehend how they think they can just eliminate all non-gourmet restaurants. Like where do people go to eat who can't afford that? They're out of luck? Just seems a…

This has the same problems as before (look at my first 12 episodes review) and one more: there is no need to fight fairly. If all the teachers and judges are paid and under the director influence thay can simply say that the food is bad and expel the rebels. Gosh they could even expel them without any reason. The facty is that we didn't need such a villain, the series was good enough when the obstacals were harsh teachers, the very competive world of high cousine and other very talented students, there is no space for a totally evil villain in a fight were the wepons are subjective (food taste is not absolute) and even more if everythng happens behind closed doors (even diving is subjective but a flawed judgment during the olympics will be seen by many)

Hi guys, it me Zaki here What I want to say about this current season of Shokugeki no Souma: Central Arc. For me, the characters is good but the ending of this season is too rush. I cannpt see the fight between ex 3rd seat vs his opponent. This season did not have much variety, a little bit of comedy and less fighting cook because of current ruler by Azami that abolish all clubs and focus to the rebels like Souma and his friends. This season shows a background of Souma Father and his friends during his schools For the op of this season, focus on ice and snow. Before this, has fire for background for season 1, 2 and 3. Overall, I give 7.5/10 because of less fight in this seasons. I take 2 weeks to finish this anime because busy doing assignment

Here it starts to really slack. It gets kinda boring. It looks like they are just trying to make more episodes and more ''hentai'' like ''food porn'' scenes, and not that much character development. Whole part 2 is concentrated on 1 competition. One episode per 1 Shokugeki or maximum 2 Shokukegi. Usually Shokugeki would even take 2 episodes here. I had a feeling they were just trying to make as much money as possible because the previous seasons were great. So it looked kinda like: Hey, let's make a sequel without any good story. So we have some invincible people here, and some that will defeat them, because main character needs to do that or it's not main character. Let's make one Shokugeki in as much episodes as possible. Let's ignore their training and put it just in flashback…

When shokugeki no souma started, we all thought it was gonna be another one of those over dramatic but oddly likeable competition anime. It's the characters that drive these sort of shows, and maybe for two and a half seasons they did. If nothing else the plot is clear here. The new guys don't like the old guys, and they're gonna have an old fashioned head to head. The problem is that's literally it. If you gave any of the supporting cast a different face they could be in pretty much any other anime and you would know no different. So many of the female characters are portrayed as 'damsels in distress', and more often than not, the only thing they bring to the show is fan service. Not that the guys do anything more themselves. What's that, you liked the main bad guy? Well fear not! Because…

This season picks up right where the last one left off. Erina and Azami have their minds blown and shortly afterwards Erina explains a little bit of her past to Souma. Souma then cooks for her in an attempt to do what he swore he would do very early in the first season of the show. Souma does help Erina figure something out. We find out next that the school itself has advancement exams and if you fail these exams you can not graduate from first or second year. Needless to say it is the final cut of students that are trimmed away from the bulk of the student body. This advancement test will be in phases and as you pass each phase the students will travel throughout Hokkaido. Souma just helping Erina to realize something very important makes Erina want to help him as well as the rest of Pol…

Story 9/10 This season begins with the students on final exams for first years with Soma and his friends in trouble as Central uses every trick in the book to cause them to fail. The season ends with the beginning of a team Shokugeki for control of the school if Soma and his friends can win they will become the Elite Ten and save the school. Another excellent season there are some really good story moments with plenty of action and drama but also some quieter feel good moments as Soma and his friends spend some quality time together in between having to fight for their school life. Art 8/10 The art style involving the food and characters remain excellent with some excellent scenery as the exams take place in snowy Hokkaido. Sound 9/10 The sound, music and voice acting remain excelle…

First review status here. On the flip side this continuation of Shokugeki no Souma has created a whole new athmosphere of intensity! More battles, more action, and even higher odds. Considering this has officially turned to the battlefield instead of a simple slice of life, the over all plot intensifies. Personally i love this style of art and by spending the last seasons on character development, this one took advantage of that prior knowledge and really sparks the beauty behind each characters development. I love to recommend this season to several of my friends and I honestly would recommend it to probably everyone because its just a bunch of fun and really does show the awesome jam packed battle that food wars have become!

I finally understand why sequel seasons get higher ratings; not only does the audience shrink to those who liked the previous seasons (mostly), but the writing gets more polished and more focused. Here, with the 3rd season, we see this in full play: energy, entertaining plot twists and suspense. Story & Characters: 7/10 I'm grouping these together because they're similar. If you were to describe the plot, it's essentially a shonen with cooking. The characters are those you'd find in any standard anime of this genre: always supportive, optimistic, good always triumphs etc etc. But that's something we learn in season 1. No, we've stuck around til season 3 because it's not about the end result, but the journey - and this is usually what makes and breaks your standard shounen as well. The…

Shokugeki No Soma is a strange beast. It annoys me, but makes me laugh all the same. It's like one of those annoying friends who keep on bugging you, but you can't help but like them a little. Story: The story in Shokugeki No Soma is the low point of the series, meaning, there isn't much story. Soma wants to become a better chef than his dad and ends up going to a high class culinary school. The plot is simple, but it works. In the world of Shokugeki No Soma people settle a lot of their disputes through food battles, which have people make extreme reactions according to the food. This ends up with mostly being ecchi stuff, like people losing their clothing, but can be fun ("Oops. I turned into a young girl for a second" hint hint). Tragically, I think the writers must have had a hard time…

I must say that this show have lost the flame that it ones had with me. I enjoyed the first season, but they don`t really evolve.... The Food that Souma made in the beginning was already being potrait as amazing, and it kept on going, and for me at least, it does not really feel like he is getting better. And even though the main cast is lovable, the rest sucks... The judges ALWAYS gets hyped up, but end up saying the same thinks and acting like the judges before them. And there is limits to how amazing you can make food, because in the end it is just food, and it is also very limited to descripe. It always come out as "There is more aroma in this one" or "UUUH THE TEXTURE IS AMAZING" and just keeps on going while there clothes gets ripped off. there were a constant kind of creativity o…

I would say this anime is for people who love anime where there is competition for cooking an epic battle to fight or to bring back justice and peace in this for the character's school in the other seasons. I loved this series of anime because this tells some people life lesson as the main character is looked down upon as he surprises other. this is really fun to watch. this has a great story as he faces some challenges that are hard the pass and sometimes tries to but fail. the main character has characteristics and lessons has this makes him better and stronger as he helps his friends and enemies to be better and make them understand their mistakes hopefully, the company keeps making and writing this anime.

So central allows the elite 10 to use their creative freedom to create dishes that will defeat the 'rebellious' students that are fighting for the importance of creative freedom.... that really doesn't make sense lol If central is really trying to prove a point they should've had the elite 10 defeat the rebellious students using their conformist recipes... Honestly I'm getting tired of shokugeki no souma, it's always just one battle after another on an endless loop. The character progression is slow and frankly I'm getting tired of some of them. The show seemed promising at first but it's been a few years and I can't even remember why I was so hooked on this show in the first place. Hopefully the next season will be more interesting...

There are subtle spoilers. I believe people that didn't saw the anime wouldn't understand them, but if you are a Mastermind, be careful. With growing popularity, Food Wars has become one of the most expected series of each year, but with the coming of the 3rd season, criticism has increased. It’s very comprehensible that the quality of the animation decreased – didn’t know if the studio lacks funds – but I can’t understand how people actually say the plot used to be great and nowadays you can compare it with any shitty basic shounen anime. In my view the story of this arc was the result a very rich background narrative and this is why I loved this part so much. The difficulty in achieving mastery, or the way to mastery was one of the most interesting themes of the whole franchise. As o…

As we encroach ever further towards the maga's more recent arcs, Shokugeki no Souma has proved itself to be as popular as ever by pulling off yet another half cliffhanger by separating a major arc into two separate seasons.  So, how does this second half of the third season stack up to what we've seen previously?  Well, poorly.  At least by comparison. Story: Previously on Shokugeki no Souma, all of Tootsuki Academy is now taken over by Azami Nakiri, Erina's father who has instilled a regime on the cooking academy that gets rid of competition within the students by sacrificing their own individuality as chefs and cooks and turning them into carbon copies of each other in order to make it so that 'Central's' gourmet is the only gourmet food that's worth existing and everything else is con…

Once again, Shokugeki no Souma has been amazing. I remember back to when I was shiny new to anime and refused to watch it because it was too ecchi and I shake my head at myself. The fanservice is back this season but it's still more of a funny aspect of the show than anything serious so it's still fine. The biggest reason I loved this season was the character development. Talking about some of the characters before this season started - especially Erina - I was frustrated to realise there was such little development going on from season to season. I wanted Yukahira to stop being quite such a mystery and and I wanted Erina to do more than flip her hair and be elitist. I got it! We get info on Joichiro's time at Toutsuki and Erina gets growth like crazy. I'm not sure if this would make sen…

I'm going to have a hard time waiting for the next season of this anime. The suspense, action, and drama in this half of season three is unmatched by any other arc of Shokugeki no Soma. It is quite a lot to follow as there is a lot of new information thrown at you all at once, but it's amazing nonetheless. These final twelve episodes will finally answer some questions you may have had about the more mysterious characters in the series. Isshiki and Joichiro are a couple examples of that. The battles get way more intense, and the sense of comradery between former adversaries is formed. Besides all that, the singular best thing about this half of the season is the fact that we get to see some serious development from Erina. The friendships and bonds she forms with everyone is truly awes…
