The Way of the Househusband

The Way of the Househusband

Introduction

Who would have ever thought that the most feared gangster of his time now spends his days as a modest househusband? Seemingly giving up the way of the yakuza, the legendary "Immortal Dragon" Tatsu, best known for his prolific skirmishes against rival gangs, has abruptly vanished. Unbeknownst to most, however, Tatsu is currently staying at an apartment with his wife, doing his best to live a peaceful life. Donning his trusty apron, Tatsu is now striving to become an efficient homemaker. Because of this, he has mastered the required skills—be it cooking the most delicious dishes, making sure to get the best deals at supermarkets, and everything in between—garnering the surprise of both of his former subordinates and enemies alike. Despite being a man with quite a controversial past, Tatsu's new way of life will only be more eccentric from here on out! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I really enjoyed watching this anime. The jokes were funny and it was entertaining to watch. The main character is really interesting and funny guy. The artstyle is okay, the voice acting is really good and fit really well. The only but BIG problem with this show is the animation. It feels more watching manga with dubbing rather than an anime. There's almost no animation, the only things that are animated are the mouths of the characters when they talk. Well, sometimes there is a little animation like the cans are falling but that's all. I'm kinda disappointed because of this animation because it didn't really felt like watching anime so I understand if someone didn't enjoyed watching this. I personaly didn't mind that much, I'm used to read manga or comics so I enjoyed it anyway but I can…

I think most people would like this anime. Gokushufudo is a comedy series that operates on one long running premise of a former Yakuza legendary badass now living a standard domestic life as a househusband. The main character Tatsu is thrust into normal everyday activities such as grocery shopping, pet sitting, cooking, and cleaning but brings all the hilariously overdramatic energy of the most serious life or death gangster movie scenes. Tatsu is always speaking in a menacing tone and scaring everybody around him with his tattoo'd and testosterone fueled aura even though he'll be doing something as harmless as joining an old ladies' sewing club. The show is broken up into multiple mini episodes that run very similarly to those of a sketch comedy show where they explore a topic for a littl…

New to this series, and as someone with no history with the manga I had a great time watching this. It's spiked my interest in reading the manga if the series doesn't continue. While, I do understand the complaints about the animation (or lack of) aside from that it's Characters, humour, VA are top notch and the art style and coloring I liked and serves it's purpose. It's stupid and asbusrd humour to the core. The animation doesn't detract from the series imo, it's comedy and the gags still land. I'd watch more if a new season does get greenlit. If you can look past the slideshowiness of this adaptation id recommend

(Writing this after finishing the whole anime) I watched this anime after some edits passed on my fy and I was really hopeful for this. But if I ever saw someone else looking into watching this, I would not recommend it. "The way of the Househusband" does, honestly, have a lot of potential. This concept is very fun and good to be explored. However, the poor animation is impossible to go unnoticed...Especially when it's equally bad in all episodes...Needs a lot of work...On the bright side, this animation is so bad, it's almost goofy, and cracks a laugh once in a while. In the internal structure, I think there's a lot more things "The way of the Househusband" can explore, but it doesn't. That's why I'm considering this anime boring. It's very repetitive and flavorless, at least for me, a…

To put it short – great for what it is, and is just what it tries to be. Nothing more, nothing less. If you're going for a masterfully crafted SoL with insane depth, this is not what you're looking for. It's the opposite. Absurd and stupid humor that revolves around the same trope, but still keeps it creative enough to catch you by surprise and get a chuckle out of you every now and then. No meaningful story arcs that span across multiple episodes, meaning it demands very little attention from the viewer and can be watched in pretty much any order you want, once you're done with the character introductions. Casual lightly engaging comedy. That is by no means a jab at it, although it does set the ceiling at right about the same height as a 90's American sitcom. But in a way, that's also t…

This is an amazing slice of life anime with a touch of comedy to it. I really liked the episodes, each were relaxing and fun to watch. The theme was quite good, shows the life of a househusband. Househusbands are pretty rare in today's world. Maybe we will see more househusbands in future. The anime also highlighted different chores one managing the house has to take care of and norms that one has to follow as a part of Japanese society. The anime confirmed that housework isn't easy at all and one must never take someone managing their house for granted. I really liked all the characters especially Tatsu and Miku, they form an amazing couple. Each character has its own personality and hobbies. The animation quality was quite good. The opening and ending songs were appropriate for the anime…

I binge-watched the 15 total episodes (for now) while I was down sick for a couple of days. I LOVED the series. The bite-size episodes make the show easy to watch and not overwhelming, and it's perfect to watch during breaks-- or you could binge-watch the whole thing like I did, obviously. I loved the humour and execution of the jokes particularly. It's pretty fast-paced and the style felt similar to Saiki K (which is also another great show). I also think the anime series is extremely loyal to its original manga, with both being pretty much identical from frame to frame. I liked this since the way the anime is structured has a bit of a manga-esque feel, if that makes any sense. I don't know if it was because I feel particularly vulnerable when I'm not feeling well, but the show was a g…

Gokushufudou is a breath of fresh air in the slice of life genre. People harp on the animation quality, but it does exactly what it sets out to do; create a charming and hilarious dichotomy between the gritty, life-or-death nature of the Yakuza with the down-to-earth, wholesomeness of housekeeping. You can't have some hyper realistic, grimdark, Berzerk style animation when the main character is making a cake for his own birthday because his loving wife isn't good at cooking. You also can't have Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon vibes when a guy is flash backing to when he violently murdered a rival gang. The sound direction and voice acting work in harmony to create a sense of conflict and inner turmoil that the main character experiences. It isn't about grand themes and epic opuses, it's…

the story and characters are good and all. but,my only issue is tha animation is too bad and i dont know why the opening has good animation so, why is the animation so terrible it made me think is this animation or animatic so many times. Almost the only animation made is the mouth, everything else remains constant. also shadows in most of the scenes are just lazy and bad. not only that alot of scenes has so much drawing mistakes. its like the only thing that holds the show is the story, i would normally give 1/10 for the animation but i give 6/10 just because it actually made me laugh several times and some scenes were fun to watch.

"The Way of the Househusband" was actually very entertaining and I liked it very much! I thought the art style was pretty great! - the manga panel-like adaptation from page-to-screen was kinda neat! it did not bother me at all - heck, i sometimes forgot that that what's happening cause my brain kinda 'filled in' the parts that needed animation? (if that makes sense?) i love this kinda anime where ur extremely eccentric characters gets pulled into the mundane normie-ness of life haha. also the MCs love for his wife sometimes really spills out & i find it adorable >///< there's not much of a story as everything is pretty episodic & the characters are all 'developed' enough for viewers to enjoy them as-is.

People hate on the animation because netflix advertised this as an anime when its more of a motion comic. It is hilarious, I love the episodic feel of it, and it does not get tired. I feel if this was animated as a traditional anime I would not have enjoyed it as much. Story wise, it is a very unique idea. Tatsu is a great main character and very funny in a dry humor kind of way. The side characters show up the perfect amount of times, giving great pacing in a 15 minute episode, thats divided into smaller chapters .Definitely watch this if you want something completely unserious and a great time overall.

As someone who had never heard about Gokushufudou before, I can't say I was expecting too much from it when I decided to watch it. However, the show soon proved me wrong. Some of the strong points of this anime are the characters and the voice acting. There are not many characters, but each of them is memorable and plays a clear role in the story. The acting is superb, too. The jokes are well delivered and the final result is a short, cute comedy that you can watch in just one sitting. The main problem with the anime adaptation of Gokushufudou seems to be the animation itself. Although it's true that at first it doesn't look too good, you'll soon get used to the "coloured manga panel" style. Maybe it isn't everybody's cup of tea, but it is worth giving it a chance. As I said before, the…

No way that this is considered a 7 (as of this moment). I really did not like this show, but it was as expected of a Netflix Original. How can they have so much money yet produce such low quality shows? This review is not solely based on animation, but on just being unfunny, bland, and dumb. Even if the animation was average it would still be bad. Enjoyment: 2/10 "Comedy" was not funny, the same few tropes over and over. Sound: 1.5/10 The use of sound-effects were just like the animation, "stock sound effects", the soundtracks were below average (I sort through soundtracks and ops/eds after watching shows and add them to my music playlist, these were not good), the ed was bad, the op was actually good (added to playlist, raised sound from 1 to 1.5). Characters: 3/10 The characters were fl…

This was a fun and surprisingly wholesome show. It’s just little snippets of this ex-yakuza man’s life as he tries to reform his life by doing menial tasks with maximum effort. He still holds the traditions of his old lifestyle and still has the mentality of a yakuza so it creates some fun circumstances as he does stuff like yoga or vacuuming. If he goes out shopping people are scared of him but he doesn’t notice. Things like that. It’s funny and I especially love it when he talks to other yakuza members and sees how they handle such menial tasks. It’s kind of wholesome seeing these battle hardened men take cute dog photos or worry about which laundry detergent to buy. The sound effects and music is fantastic and adds to the comedy so much. Overall just a fun time. And for me that’s what’s…

In no way I want to hate the animation team, but this is a bit lazy. I get that they're making it manga style but this isn't my type, but I still watched it because IT WAS Entertaining, they matched the art style, the voice acting and really great soundtrack. I will gladly take that instead of the animation part. It feels very great when you watch it on your free time because its short and very episodic so different episodes like sponge-bob for example. WHICH IS VERY GREAT SO I DON'T FOCUS TOO MUCH ON THE STORY AND JUST HAVE FUN! The humor is very great with a lot of yakuza jokes etc. I would recommend this to people who would love the rest but not care for the animation. (WARNING IT FEELS LIKE A SLIDE SHOW). Not hating though, still a good anime to binge watch on netflix.

this one is a short one. The way of the Househusband. The premise was interesting. And I got hooked not through the manga or the trailer, but a live action made by the same VA as the Yakuza. It is quite cool!! Anyway, this was a good watch. I really liked it. My only gripe: The animation. The source material is good so the jokes are good. But an anime is not an anime without animation, and the first few episodes was just manga panels but with effects. As the season went on it got better though. I only marked this anime a 7/10 because of the animation. The jokes are there. The comedy is there. This one does not have a story. It is just a bunch of scenarios. And that is perfect since this is a Slice of Life. The comedy hit hard though. But also, holy this was short. 5 episodes that is…

English. Look at the series, it's not bad, it's quite funny and it comes to seem very entertaining in some episodes that it has, but I also think that it is not a series for everyone, the animation may disappoint many, it is not fluid at all and the It looks like the drawings didn't put much effort into it, all they did was put everything that appeared I believe in the manga in color (I suppose it's based on a manga) and put dubbing on each of the characters, literally while you go Watching this anime series you will also see how all the episodes in the manga unfold, an episode can have about 5 to 6 mini-shorts, some may not like these and others may be fascinated by them, even so I think they could do much more than what you see in the anime. Español. Miren la serie no es mala, es bastan…

To start, the anime is very minimal and by that I mean the whole show feels like a PowerPoint slideshow rather than an actual anime. That being said, I can't say that the anime is bad because even with the minimalistic animation the story, characters and comedy carry all the way. The English dub in particular is very well directed and left me chuckling a good number of times. However, I do recommend reading the manga instead because I don't think the anime did the source material justice despite following the story to the manga very closely. But if you don't want to read the manga then the anime is fine too, just not as good as it could have been.

The SFX, music, and voice acting are all worth coming to for this animanga. The art is objectively worse and their stylistic choice with the animation would've been excused if it weren't for the shitty tracing work. The pacing of the jokes are a little too fast for me imo. The manga's just the obvious choice if it weren't for the good voice acting, both the dub and sub. Of course, if you don't mind the "animation" (when it barely is.) then go ahead, it's an okay adaptation, but there's so many areas this could've been improved on, especially with the Netflix money it's been funded with.
