You can save hours of your life by just watching the clips of Yuki, Alya, and Masha on Tiktok or YouTube instead of watching this anime.
The anime lured me in with the prospects of it being a cute romcom featuring adorable waifu but then decided to punish me with this stupid school election plotline.
The writers want us to believe that Alya is smart, hardworking, and determined. However she runs for Student Council President and stumbles through every single obstacle. Every single conflict relating to the school election could have been an opportunity for Alya's character to grow, but instead it results in making her look stupid. In the end she is just helplessly dependent and in love with the MC.
It's okay that the heroine encounters problems that she can't face alone. But of course th…

Well, that was a little bit of a slow-paced watch for me. I wasn't as invested as I wanted to be. For some reason, I thought that it would be better given all the hype around it. If you enjoy watching student council politics unfold, then I'd recommend this anime to you; otherwise, it does fall a bit flat. This is just my personal opinion, but even the romance aspect, I feel as if I've seen better chemistry between the leads, such as in "My Dress-Up Darling" or even "Rent-a-Girlfriend. I haven't read any of the manga, so I don't want to say too much about the overall storyline. The animation is beautiful, though, and I enjoyed how they did a different song cover for the ending credits!

Love the cast of characters, love the interactions. VERY mixed feelings about the MC though, out here acting like he Ayanokoji.
Fantastic and sweet moments are often outweighed and hindered by unnatural interactions and cringe moments, but not to the extent of making it unwatchable. It is predictable, but in the occasional moments it builds something up it feels satisfying to see the end result.
Characters are interesting while often one dimensional. It boasts a alright supporting cast with great main characters, but as I mentioned before our MC is just a Ayanokoji fanboy haphazardly following a similar formula. He doesn't ruin the shows by any means, but there is space for improvements.
Animation is great, above average for sure. Sometimes, there is more detail on characters toes rat…

(THIS IS A YUKI GLAZE!! BECAUSE I HAVE NOT SEEN ENOUGH YUKI GLAZE)
You start watching because of Alya. The beautiful silver haired Russian beauty who secretly confesses her feelings in russian while thinking nobody understands her. The whole premise is built around her cute little secret and her slowly developing relationship with Kuze.
But then you have Yuki Suou, and suddenly everything changes.
Yuki is not just a childhood friend.
She is not just another character added to create a love triangle.
She is not just a LITTLE SISTER.
SHE OWNS THE SHOW. SHE IS HER. - STORY: YUKI THE CHARACTER WHO ACCIDENTALLY STEALS THE SHOW
The premise of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is honestly simple. Alya Mikhailovna Kujou is the popular, beautiful, talented student who appears impossi…

Anime girl,
Silver hair,
From Russia,
Meet Bronya Zaychik.
Just kidding. 😂
Meet Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou, aka Alya.
This anime tells the story of Alya, a Russian girl studying in Japan. She secretly likes Masachika (our MC). But since Alya is a classic tsundere, she always hides her true feelings by saying sweet things in Russian. But here comes the plot twist:
Our MC is apparently a pro Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player. 😂
(Meaning yes… he understands Russian.)
I still remember when the trailer first came out, people were roasting the anime because Alya’s Russian sounded weird. But thankfully, once the anime actually aired, most of that criticism disappeared.
But well… that makes sense. Most people watch anime to hear Japanese, right?
Unless you’re one of those lost souls watch…

I really enjoyed every episode. The first half is great for getting to know the characters. A new girl arrives in each episode, and although they all seem somewhat interested in Masachika, only three truly appear to pursue him. This often feels tedious to me, but here it felt natural.
The second half serves to build the plot, develop the characters, and deliver a satisfying ending. The last episode was the best, and it leaves you wanting more. I hope the second season comes out soon because I'm eager to continue this story.
Another thing I really liked is that none of the characters were annoying. Often, characters feel out of place in the setting, but here everything felt right; I liked them all.
Finally, the animation and art are absolutely beautiful. The scene transitions while the c…

Well she certainly is russian, and she certainly sometimes hides her feelings in russian. If only there was something clever or unique they could've done with that concept.
Honestly this show is a rare oddity for me because I see so many potential avenues that the show could choose to do and a lot of unique story telling opportunities, but the show seems to be more obsessed with being your average romance slop with extra hypnotism fan service to boot.
I really enjoyed whenever the anime took Kuze and Yuki's relationship seriously and delved into that family politics side. There is a glimmer of angst and trauma that these rare moments show and I really wish the show could focus more on that. There's a lot of untapped story potential to dive into Kuze's character and his relationship with…

I'm gonna be real honest: there isn't that much special about this show. The story is unremarkable, so is the artstyle, and like most romcom anime, it doesn't go very far in its first season. Where it shines is in the fact that it's just very funny. The characters, though not exactly revolutionary, bounce off each other beautifully. I could watch the main cast chat sh!t for a long time without getting bored.
Also one of the few anime where I have chosen the dub, which was a great choice! The english cast nail the energy of ye olden self-aware dubs that are just aware enough to be charming in its hiccups, yet still very immersive in its serious moments.

The series starts off enjoyable, especially in the early episodes. While the setup is fairly generic, good pacing and character interactions make it entertaining at first. The art style fits the story well and supports its overall tone.
Things take a clear downturn around episode 5 with the presidential election arc. This plotline feels poorly written and overly predictable, draining the tension and making the series frustrating to watch. By episode 9, it nearly pushed me to drop it.
The main character is the biggest issue during this arc. While supporting Alya against his sister, he comes off as a cheap Ayanokoji knockoff, acting unrealistically clever without the depth to justify it. His actions feel forced rather than smart, hurting both his character and the plot. Other characters al…

The concept was definitely really interesting, as were the characters.
Hopeful for Season 2, but the romance between the MCs felt on and off at points. They get flustered by something plain and simple, but then proceed to say/do something hella sus and proceed to brush it off. Aside from that, most of the characters are interesting, and they're all well-designed and animated really well too, so it was a nice watch. Definitely some OTT fan-service moments though. Like, a lot.
They also decide to dip into a bit of a psychological anime at points surrounding the presidential election, which is cool, but I felt it was a little weak. I enjoyed the show more by just focusing on the character dynamics, but some weren't fully explored. Again, hoping for a good Season 2 that can pick this up.

Ahh, yes. Roshidere. The series that keeps haunting me on YouTube Shorts.
Great advertisement though! I like the MC and his sister a lot. It's really made me want to watch it.
How did I find this?
YouTube Shorts.
Don't know why I keep getting it even to this day. They are that popular, huh? No wonder it got a second season this year.
Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?)
The MC and his sister.
My god, I never knew this duo could carry a show to the point of peak! Additionally, I had also intended to meet and greet the creator when I attended the CF21 convention in 2025. I love his spirit! It made me want to watch it more.

i picked this anime randomly and didn't expect to like it that much :0
as a person who studies russian in school, in the first episodes i found the russian phrases INCONCEIVABLY cringe but somehow i got myself to tolerate them. and the brother-sister teasing nearly made me quit midway and bleach my eyeballs, BUT: this anime was actually pretty GOOD! :oo
in the end i really cared what happens to the characters and understood their distinct personalities and unique quirks, i guess character building in a slow, piece-by-piece way, is the biggest w for this show
i can't believe i'm waiting for s2
final verdict:
recommend :3

It's a typical rom com, but it's still good, nevertheless.
There's this saying that idea is cheap; execution is not. This anime got a cheap idea, but it executes it quite well. It's not the best or anything, but it's solid. The main plot is essentially about the development between the two main characters, but other side plot is as essential. There's this school political plot, the mind games by one of the major characters, and backstories that ties back to the characters. Some said it's boring one is looking for romance entirely since it can, indeed, develops quite slowly.
It's still great though. I'd say the characters carried this show more than its writing or plot. They got nice chemistry, refreshing, and it is fluid. The art itself is quite nice, the visuals work well, and the humor…

Imagine dealing with someone who, when they feel uncomfortable, speaks to you in a language you don't know—annoying, right? But since you don't know what they're saying, you let it go, pretend not to notice, or point out that you didn't understand. Okay.
Now, though, suppose you DID know that language and had no reason to hide it, except to know what that person is saying without letting them know, just for fun. Understandable.
But what if you were attracted to that "foreigner"? And what if she were expressing her feelings for you in that unknown language, and you secretly understood? Who's so stupid they wouldn't take advantage of the situation and play it safe? Who knows their "crush" likes them and does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING?
That's exactly what "Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Rus…

At first, this anime seemed like it would just be another school romance, this time featuring a Russian girl. But I was wrong. It presents characters with depth and personal stories, exploring themes like the pressure to always be good and the constant effort to improve oneself.
The protagonist, whom I didn’t expect much from, actually made me curious about his past, showing that there are more layers to him than initially apparent. The romance between the main characters is gradual, but that didn’t surprise me — in fact, it makes everything feel more realistic and engaging.
The animation is beautiful and pleasant to watch, and the voice acting fits well, giving the characters more personality. Without a doubt, if a second season is released, I will definitely watch it. It’s an anime tha…

The cast for the dubbed version made this show a masterpiece. I have NEVER seen such an amazing performance. The new generation humor made this show the best comedy I have ever watched by a mile. Specifically, the VAs for Yuki and Masachika carried the show. Watching this in sub would not have the same impact. Honestly feel bad for the dub haters because we ate good with this show. Only way they coulda went above and beyond was if they made a dedicated season of just Yuki and Masachika yapping. I would compare this to Love is War, it gave similar vibes. I would put the comedy of this show above Love is War, but I'd put the romance under Love is War.

Inspired by Jack the Ripper, let’s take it apart piece by piece.
Positives Right off the bat, the main characters are extremely charismatic. The whole “Russian” gimmick is a breath of fresh air and dodges that irritating cliché of the “closed-off tsundere + clueless MC” combo — where she never shows anything and, when she does, he doesn’t get it. Here it’s the opposite. Alisa expresses her feelings crystal clear (in Russian) and Masachika actually understands. It’s a simple premise, but executed really well and genuinely fun.
Another highlight is that both the male and female leads are active. They show their desires openly and don’t chicken out when things heat up. If Alisa gives Masachika an opening, he doesn’t sit…

True score: 6.5 —
The core premise — she speaks a language he understands but never admits to — is honestly great and could have carried a full 12-episode season focused purely on romance. Instead, the show throws in a family duel arc and a student council subplot. Not awful, but it pulls focus and keeps the main relationship from reaching its full potential.
Why the score dropped:
Loss of focus — too many side plots and sequel hooks hurt the core story. At times, it even drags, especially if you came here just for the romance.
Ecchi — not over-the-top like some shows, but still pointless and occasionally annoying.
Protagonists’ sisters — without spoiling, Kuze’s sister’s dynamic with him feels unnecessary, and Alisa’s sister had me worried we were about to dive into “Quintuplets”…

First of all, the characters are funny, strange, and I got a lot of new Russian vocabulary, thanks to Alya hiding her feeling in Russian. I like the majority of the characters, and if they gonna do cliché thing they do it parodically which is funny! Also the dynamic between character is so lovely.. It's nice to get this type of story in a while. That's all, I think.
Oh, yeah, the animation also top notch! Other than that, I don't think i dislike something in it. Alya also very cute I wanna protect her!
This season seem very interesting, I can't wait for the next season!

"A series and broken promises"
To be fair, to put your expectation on anime edits is a big mistake, you'll always end up with a bad impression of what truly is the entire work, and it's always frustrating; although "Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san" has other problems too.
The thing that probably take you to watch it in the first place, was the gorgeous animation, and yeah, they really did a good job; the character design are impeccable, Alya himself is for sure one of the most beautiful protagonists of the season; okay, the other reason for sure was the best girl "Yuki", she alone carries the entire series, but all the other characters have their moments too. So where is the problem after all?... the story. The thing is, there are a lot of elements to a good narat…
