This show was perfectly fine, perfectly passable, for a while. But the longer I watched, the more uncomfortable I got seeing the main character, a blatant stalker who ignores boundaries at every turn (literally embodies those "crazy ex" Twitter screenshots), be REWARDED for her behavior.
It tried really hard to say something about being a lesbian and knowing your feelings will be reciprocated. It honestly seemed like rather surface-level commentary, but it's also yuri, so it's not like the moral soapbox came out of nowhere, in that regard. It seems like the author is trying to have some sort of social awareness, but it turns around and flips that on its head by-- I shit you not-- having the main love interest declare to her peers that she is not comfortable with Rae's stalking, only to be…

This is a great yuri romance between the classic cat and dog personalities. The show itself is a dating sim isekai that tones down most of the major gripes with this type of story but keeps the essence and drama associated with it. Politics, religion, magic, gay, wealth disparity, secret evil villains, tragedy, using modern cooking techniques to get rich quick, this show has it all. But, even with the vast breadth of topics to cover, it doesn't feel convoluted because it does a good job keeping focus on the main characters. It keeps the ideas such as politics and religion in the background, giving some world building context and letting the viewer know how these ideas are relevant to the character and their personality, without focusing on it so much that it gets in the way. The broad rang…

I started watching I'm in Love with the Villainess because I wanted a fun yuri romance and that's exactly what I got. I expected a fairly standard villainess isekai with some comedy mixed in but I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. While it doesn't completely reinvent the genre it stands out thanks to its charming leads, entertaining humor, and a romance that has more heart than I initially expected.
If you've watched other villainess anime or otome isekai, a lot of the setup will feel familiar. The world itself isn't particularly groundbreaking, and some side characters don't receive as much attention as they probably deserved. The pacing can also feel a little uneven at times, especially during the later episodes. That said the anime understands what its biggest strength…

Such a well-paced anime, with a basic but excellently executed story. It is consistently enjoyable and never promises more than it delivers, which shows extraordinary restraint considering some of the topics it addresses directly. The story and characters are presented in a very direct and straightforward way, which works in favour of the show's light-hearted nature.
It's not deep, and characters are rather two-dimensional, heh. But they do convey authors intent very well. There are no unnecessary characters, and even in the show it's a joke that some characters are too background-y for main characters to remember details about them.
I liked the voice acting, but the quality of the artwork and animation is rather poor.
Somehow it's rare for anime not to be about characters, or to prope…

This series was so cute! I loved the push-and-pull relationship between Miss Claire and Rae Taylor. The complexity of their power dynamics. Rae, being a commoner, and a maid to Miss Claire, the noble and villainess. Need more yuri like this pls!!! Also, I loooove Miss Claire's iconic curls!! The animation was so pretty, and the art style and overall scenery illustrations were gorgeous!!! The dubbed VA played their roles so well, and I felt their emotions so clearly.
In the end, I'm excited to buy the light novels so I can keep following their story! <3
(I've heard Vol. 3 of the light novels follows after S1)

As a yuri lover, I was very excited to watch this, but it's genuinely very disappointing and weird.
Rae is a creepy, there are multiple scenes of her crossing boundaries, manipulating and making Claire uncomfortable, specially towards the beginning. She's a pretty inconsistent character and her actions often don't match her statements. I don't like how she makes Claire feels powerless, the scene with her dad not listening to her was so hard to watch...
There's incest on the story, it's a side "couple" but It was still pretty unnecessary and the comparison of this to homosexual couples was gross and unnecessary. There's a sexual assaulter who's barely villainized for that. Very extra feminine rivalry. They seemed to wanting to criticized meritocracy, but in such a weird way... The main di…

This is one of the anime that can make a non-yuri fan into a yuri fan
But remember, this anime is good but they cut off the darker parts when they made this
like if u read the manga - it hits more different [more darker - coz anime mainly focus on comedy]
But the real masterpiece is the light novel - as it is completed [with 5 vols ] it's the best ever story u could hope for
-coz it goes to "rezero / steinsgates" lvl story by the 5th vol-
So if i rate it, it's gonna be like this
anime<manga<light novel light novel - 10/10
[coz it's one of the best yuri - with best storytelling]
manga -9/10 [this can change coz it's still ongoing ]
coz it adapts the light novel -in the 1st few chaps it was better than the light novel
like the adaptation of LN vol 1 was better in manga - & it was till…

This show is definitely unique. Ten different ways out of my alley, but here I am watching a comedy GL villainess isekai about a borderline gay stalker. Despite that, the comedy is so absurd that it ends up being decently funny, and while a lot of the cast is forgettable, there are a few standouts, for better or worse.
The plot is pretty simple. Otaku woman gets isekai'd into her favorite otome game, like most of these shows, but whereas most like to flip the story by having the MC be the antagonist, this series keeps the MC as the otome protagonist, but rather has her chase the villainess's skirt rather than go for any of the dudes that would bend over backwards for a shot at her. However, subtlety is lost on Rae, and rather than trying to befriend the villlainess and slowly make her fal…

Yuri is good but this is just okay yuri. The premise is simple and fairly repeated in the scene, and there are really strange plot choices. Claire is so angry she barely ever even acts like a Tsundere, in fact the entire show is just slowly breaking her down. Watch it if that sounds interesting, by the end you'll know what I mean.
The story honestly feels like there are huge oversights. In terms of characters, essentially everyone is just a blank slate. This is in part rationalized as part of the consequence of this being a video game world, but also it still doesn't quite make sense. For example, if you're able to court princes in the game, then surely they would still be romantically interested in someone or anyone in the real world?
The characters fall into one of three categories: ab…

Quirked Up Lesbians in an Uninteresting World:
This show exceled at showcasing a cute, and comedic romance between the main character, who is an absolute lust filled freak towards the villainess, and the pompous villainess who ended up having a surprising amount of character depth. Although this show is an Isekai, the direction was refreshing since the main character isn’t interested in power but instead only cares about fulfilling her fantasy of finally being around the villainess she loves so much while comedically avoiding, ignoring, and deterring all of male love interests that would normally end up with the main character in the game she was reincarnated into. The show also provided some social commentary around queerness that was pretty interesting and worked well to set up one of t…

This is a show that I consider to be a pretty solid show. It was actually executed pretty well.
The designs are well done, the idea of being isekaied into a gaming simulator is a pretty good idea, the relationship dynamic between Rae and Claire are really nice, Raelaire is adorable, a lot of the characters like Lene, Claire, Rae and even Manaria are really interesting and the animation is really nice.
However, I do have some flaws with the show. First off, as much as a lot of the characters are really interesting, some of the characters like Rod, Yu, and Misha can be a bit boring. But that's mostly cause they have a lack of screen time. I know that the show wants to focus on Rae and Claire's relationship dynamic and what happens to it in each step of the way, but it makes the other chara…

This is my third "otome" anime and just like the previous two (Katarina, Villainess) I was ready to give up if it was going to be a boring, talkative romantic story, but to my surprise it ended up being a great romantic comedy with a good plot. The series rides on a constant wave of light provocative humor, which I didn't get tired of at least during the 12 episodes, every few episodes comes with a new little story arc and all this is complemented by the nice characters of the main characters. As I expected a fairly average affair, I'm excited about the finale.

This anime left nothing to be desired! I loved the romance’s pacing, the protagonists’ dynamic, the humor, the serious moments and the climax.
But MAINLY the story behind it (magic, kingdoms, RPG, and so on) — this part added so much to the work that now I’m even more eager to see how that wraps up than the romance itself.
Although, as I said, the romance didn’t lack ANYTHING (for my taste), and the only thing that could have ruined the anime — the three “boyfriends” — was handled perfectly.
I loved this work and everything in it, a lot! Even knowing it’s not perfect, it’s 100% what I wanted to see. Since it’s so rare for this type of work to get a second season, I’ll be FORCED to see the ending in the light novel, but it’s so good that I’ll do it as soon as possible lol.
Anyway,…

There isn't much to say here beyond: Watch the dub. The dub is a work of art. The dub deserves our praise, our loyalty, our hearts and our souls. All hail the dub.
Because I'm not allowed to publish this without more information, allow me to specify that the plot is a bit more than the usual isekai slop. The other world knowledge of this world is utilized well and defined the story. The character dynamics are goofy and not realistic but are still grounded in real feelings and emotions. The show's take on sexuality is not necessarily profound but it is more thoughtful then what anybody watching this show signed up for, I promise.
Above average villainess show with a dub that pushes it from good to great.

I want to preface by saying I absolutely enjoy shitty rom-coms and cheap isekai anime/manga. This is a review from this perspective, and not a hermetic expose of what this anime is.
The main character is extremely annoying, especially at the beginning, and such behavior would be considered problematic, should genders have been different. This is the series' greatest issue, and you will have to bear with it because "it gets good". On that note, the dub audio quality feels like a fandub. It has that "janky" quality to it, in some ways. It does not compare with cartoons, or with properly done dubs. Yet... the VA is so good that it simply works. I don't think I ever saw a character with such a good VA before. Well, while also fitting the "shitty" isekai rom-com MC.
But that is not the import…

I was going to say this is an average guilty pleasure watch with a wlw/Yuri twist on the otome genre but all of a sudden in episode 9 they start saying incest is a forbidden love on par with homesexuality and act as if it's okay, that kinda spoiled the whole thing for me.
The portrayal of these common romance tropes was honestly very well done (even if I dont like the tropes themselves) Very cute and has an actual ending!! I do believe it deserves some credit for that with its genre well-known for not actually ending anything in a solid answer.
But yeah fun besides the incest tangent lol

Honestly really cute and enjoyable. It's not very common to find shows that are not only not yuri bait, but are also so direct about it right out of the gate. If you don't take Rae's actions too seriously (which would be very uncool in real life) and buy into it as a setup for the premise and the comedy, Rae and Claire's dynamic plays out in an adorable way.
There are definitely strengths and weaknesses in the show that may weigh differently for different people though. The worldbuilding is a bit too much of a set piece which I feel might weaken the story in the long run should more get adapted, the challenges that come with homosexual romances feel like they aren't touched on deeply enough, there is a VERY weird comparison between the taboo nature of sibling incest and homosexual relati…

The anime was not special at first, but I do love the easy to digest story.
But the villainess backstory and the maid arc is surprisingly really good. It's deep, a little dark, and really interesting. However around the last arc the animation quality, artstyle and even character look suddenly changed, I usually don't mind something like that because I know what happen during the anime production but even so I can't ignore it. The story in the last arc is also so predictable it makes me stupid for thinking 2 step ahead.
It's really strange isn't it where the best story in the show is the one that didn't have MC in it

I'm in love with the villainess is, for once, exactly what it says on the tin.
A girl re-incarnated into her favorite Otome game. This one plays it straight and has her incarnate as her in-game character, aka the protagonist. Not the villainess, not the super duper hidden boss (why would an otome game have that?!) not one of the side characters. She's 100% the MC.
She just happened to be gay and played the game specifically for the Villainess.
At first I got drawn into the series because of the jokes. English Voice actress for Rae (Hannah Alyea) blew it out of the park with her performance. This series is easily one of the better anime dubs out there.
However as the series progressed I started to get invested in Rae's arch. How she used humor to mask her true feelings out of fear of r…

While I'm not a fan of GxG content (granted I'm not one for BL or Yaoi either), I thought both the story, the world-building and characters were pretty interesting.
While watching it, it kinda gave OHSHC vibes at times which was funny to think about while watching it. The Villainess and the second prince were my favorite characters. I know it was meant to be a story about the heroine and villainess getting together which is the point of the anime, I was sorta rooting for the villainess and the prince (sorry, they just feel like they could've made a cute couple). It was still an interesting watch overall, not bad for a reincarnated otome anime.
