Good Luck Girl!

Good Luck Girl!

Introduction

Ichiko Sakura lives life on easy mode. Blessed with good fortune, she has everything she has ever wanted, including beauty, intelligence, and wealth. Momiji Binboda is a goddess of poverty. In stark contrast to Ichiko, she is cursed with misfortune, such as a perpetual cast on her arm, a flat chest, and a box under a bridge for a home. Their lives collide when Momiji lives up to her title and delivers some unfortunate news to Ichiko: her large amount of luck is due to her subconsciously draining the luck from those around her! Momiji has been tasked with stealing back Ichiko's fortune before she leaves everyone without enough luck to even survive. But Ichiko, with the help of the wandering monk Bobby Statice, manages to fight off the poverty goddess. This defeat forces the goddess to enlist reinforcements in the form of Kumagai, her teddy bear familiar, and the masochistic dog god, Momoo Inugami. Insanity ensues as Ichiko's quiet life is replaced with daily battles for her fortune. To survive the chaos, Ichiko will need all the luck she can get in Binbougami ga!! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

A fun, enjoyable watch. What you see in the first 3 to 4 episodes is what you get - if you enjoyed and laughed in the beginning, be sure to stick around. There is no grand build up in the story arc or a mind-blowing gimmick to make you re-think this genre of animes. The premise of the imbalance of fortune for Ichiko is merely an enabler of bizarre and intriguing moments for the characters to shine. The lack of a serious focus on "plot thickening" moments coupled with the deliberate direction towards well-timed gags and references - it all works to the show's strengths. Fujita Yoichi, who also had a hand in numerous Gintama eps, directed Binbougami ga! and the similarities in episode flow and humour are definitely noticeable (albeit less of breaking the fourth wall). Side note: Kumagai (st…

Binbougami ga! is an anime that is suppose to be focusing on entirely on comedy. It has is own comedy but it just being at the level of below gintama if by comparison. As i like to give an fine rating , the story feels being intervene by the genre romance made sudden down turn that make the show in the later episodes turn into an average of a romcom. Moreover being anime of 13 episode, Binbougami ga! should be generously be at 15/20 episodes due to the show somehow being compressed at the reason of budget and time slot constrain. It is average in terms of story but the comedy is enjoyable.

Such a hilarious show. Ichiko is the perfect stuck up girl who only cares about herself. When Momiji comes to bring her down to everyone elses level, it just flows so well. Their dynamic, and the voice actor's chemistry is fantastic. There's multiple times I was watching the show where I had to pause it just to laugh out loud. It's full of references to other popular anime as well. I wouldn't say it leans on that though. It's got plenty of jokes on it's own. The characters act in believable ways, and even have growth throughout the series. Despite being a comedy, it has a continuous story, and a lot of emotional moments that didn't feel cheesy. The big downside for me is it does have quite a bit of fanservice, and "boob" related jokes. Two character's whole personalities are about being…

This anime is such an overlooked gem in my opinion. It's legitimately one of the funniest comedy series I've ever seen, every episode getting multiple genuine laughs out of me. And besides that, it executed this whilst balancing it with a good story and very unique premise. As a comedy series, the humour is the most vital component and Binbougami ga excels here. From visual jokes, to shock humour, to absurdism and a LOT of references. All of the jokes hit home for me and if you're a proper anime fan, recognizing all the crazy references is a really fun experience too. As my best friend who I watched this with very well put, this anime is a great litmus test if Gintama would be to your liking. If you appreciate the references and ridiculous jokes here, Gintama has more of them and they're…

Good Luck Girl is an amazing watch!! It doesn't have much in the art and sound department, and it's not particularly moving. HOWEVER the comedy and entertainment factor was great!! Personally had many laughs watching it and would definitely recommend it. The characters are, what I think, made it most fun! This anime is a good gateway anime for newer viewers, and is a good way to pass the time during COVID. Be warned this anime might be a little vulgar for some people, but personally enjoyed it. TLDR; If you need a laugh during these trying times, Good luck girl is your best bet!

I came into this anime expecting a weird and cringey ecchi anime, but what I got was a pretty funny show. It greatly reminded me of Gintama which I still need to finish. The dumb jokes and stupid ideas made me laugh alot. Few of the main characters were great too. Favorite probably has to be Momiji and then best voice is of course the main character. Despite it being only 13 episodes, there were quite alot of satisfying character and friendship developments too. The only thing I didn't like was the excessive amount of easter eggs and sometimes the characters go overboard with their personalities. I'm surprised the anime industry allowed this many anime reference to be shown. But then I guess I shouldn't be since Osomatsu also did something like this in their first episode. Overall, gr…

I wasn't planning on writing another review for a while, but Binbougami ga!? surprised me enough (in all the right ways) that I thought I'd put pen to paper to quickly plug the series. If you're on the fence about watching this (as I was) I'll say it now: take the plunge. Every single episode made me laugh out loud, and 11 or 12 of the 13 episodes I could genuinely describe as 'outrageously funny.' Though Binbougami-ga!? falls short of a being a true comedic masterpiece, it still left me feeling like I had hit the comedy jackpot. Sure, there are underdeveloped/extraneous/trite characters I feel I could do without (Bobby, Momo-o), and sure, the plot is not exactly a fine-tuned machine, but Binbougami-ga?! delivers laughs time and again over the course of 13 episodes, to the point where it…

Good Luck Girl is a really solid comedy that has a surprising amount of emotion, a really well developed lead character, and lots of really fun side characters. Given that the show was canceled after just one season with thirteen episodes, it is surprising how much the writers managed to fit in. There are several different kinds of humor: slapstick, references to other anime, 4th wall jokes, puns, parody, some "lewd" humor, and more. There is also one amazing reference to Dragon Ball Z in every episode, and they only get better as the show goes on. So if you are a fan of DBZ like I am, these references will be a highlight of the show. In addition to some great humor, the show also know when it needs to be more serious and develop the characters. Although this show is pretty episodic, you d…

This anime has nice visuals and surprisingly weak story that ruins it. It has plenty of references to other anime, plenty of attempts at fanservice, and plenty of attempts at humor. Unfortunately, most of those attempts fail. Detailed breakdown below: Story: 3/10. While the primse isn't horrible, the story eventually forget about the premise completely (and heroine's powers), and large number of references to other anime do not improve it. The issue with references is that in this case they are not fun, feel out of place and the anime being referenced usually is very popular. Supposedly humorous attempts usually fall flat, and the story attempts to shift its mood all over the place. Basically, the events are never convincing or interesting to watch, and it looks like a collection of more…

***THIS IS A SPOILER FREE REVIEW*** Lately I have found it harder and harder to find anime that I honestly feel makes me really "laugh out loud" or really enjoy warming up to a character I previously hated. The show Binbougami ga! has somehow incorporated both of these aspects into a fun filled thirteen episode running. Story: 6/10 No sugarcoating this category; being a slice of life and self contained episodic type show means there really isn't a whole lot of ways to have an interesting show especially since it is a parody anime that in my opinion rivals Gintama in how funny it comes off to be. The story follows Ichiko Sakura, the god of misfortune Momiji, and their rag tag friends as they progress through many different situations. The main premise of the show is that Ichiko absorbs a…

This is simply MAGNIFICENT!!! I absolutely loved it, I already watched it about 10 times and I can't stop...x3 + ITS ENGLISH DUBBED Rating: VERY HIGH This story revolves around a girl, Ichiko Sakura, better known as Titchiko (because of her rather big oo) which is a normal spoiled rich girl which with some magic absorbs the good luck out of the people surrounding her giving her tremendous good luck leading to a luxurious life. UNTIL a Poverty god, Momiji, enters tasked with the unimaginable hard mission to rid this girl from her good luck, of course she fights back and in return a HILARIOUS battle turns out...And to put the cherry on top the little girl starts to fall in love with someone leading to a juicy story, most certainly. In between this absolute chaos the anime includes some pa…

What would you do if you had all the luck in the world, but only because you'd been leeching the luck and happiness off of the people around you? Well, you'd probably feel at least a little guilty, but you can't help it, right? If there's no way to fix the problem then there's nothing you can do. This is the way our protagonist Ichiko Sakura approaches her situation, but there is an easy fix for her problem - she just won't take it because she's incredibly selfish. Ichiko herself was one of the main problems I had with the show as it tried desperately to justify her selfishness and make her likeable; if it had left her one-dimensional and unashamedly selfish I think I would've enjoyed the show a lot more, but as it was I hated her as a character and I hated when other characters would give…

The first anime I completed in 2017 and boy what a way to kick start it. Binbougami Ga in my opinion is like one of a kind. It is an anime that is supposed to be a parody and you really shouldn't take it too seriously but at the same time, the anime clearly has its own story to tell. So in a way, that helps to provide some weight to the events that happen in the anime. And because it is such, even during moments that are supposed to be dramatic, you can expect a joke to pop up and that prevents it from becoming as depressing as it might have. To me, the balance between light-hearted and serious moments were handled superbly and that is a huge plus for me. And I have to give praise to the anime for developing actual believable backstories for many of the recurring characters. This is espe…

As soon as begins it already has me laughing. Momiji is a poverty god and gets given a mission in the earth realm, she has to find a girl and get rid of all her excess happiness energy so it stops adversely effecting the people around her. Though she thinks it'll be a lot easier than it is. She is a great character, she's hilarious as soon as you meet her. Fun and entertaining, but serious when she needs to be. For all her life Ichiko has been spoiled and given special treatment above her peers, she always thought it was because she was rich and she deserved to be treated better than everyone else. Until it turns things bad for the people around her and she learns the truth from Momiji. Her character is also well done, she's pretty full of herself, but she's funny and easy to like. It'…

The funniest anime I've seen. There's lots of references and they turn cliches into jokes, like there's this one scene where the main character needs a disguise so she uses that smoke thing that anime people get when they get mad or passionate about something and added detail as the disguise and then everyone else thinks it's some new trend and starts doing it to and you can see the background characters turning more detailed with manly realistic faces and you just can't beat the funimation dub, it was hilarious and well made as well. It also has pretty good music, I usually skip and anime outros but this one is definitely worth listing to. Definitely recommending this. Comedy gold, especially the monk.

I was just lucky to stumble in this anime. I encountered this one when some user in the MAL is asking a certain screenshot of what anime it is. Then, I search it as I read the synopsis I found it interesting. The story is simple, hilarious, parody and whimsical despite that it has a lesson. The character design is unique and vibrant. I like the ending song. The seiyuu also did a good job of switching from serious to different characters. The character's personality is humorous. Overall, I did enjoy watching this anime somehow it is a female version of Gintama. So, if you like the Gintama you would also like this one.

Here's a quick and super original synopsis about this show. - This is a world where there are god for everything, it usually take form of a human with clothing that cosplay for what they represents. - Our MC is a gril, and she's one of those narcissist, selfish, short temper women; who's rich, got em big titties, and liked by all men in school. And she was blessed with fortune (that rivals even a god) that was taken from taking other people's. - so to counter that, a god of misfortune who's the diametric opposite of our MC came to teaches her a lesson, as well as, taking her ability to steal fortune from other people. To basically save their lives and future apparently. Simply put, this anime was somewhat a funny series. The only jokes that i actually laugh my ass off is when they does…

Binbougami Ga is a comedic shounen series written by Sukeno Yoshiaki. The manga ran from 2008 to 2013. At the tail end of the manga's run Sunrise, the studio behind Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass & Love Live to name a few, worked on a thirteen episode anime adaptation. How well does the anime version hold up? Let's check it out. Story: Sakura Ichiko is blessed with great fortune, far more than a regular human possesses. In fact, she unconsciously steals fortune from the people around her, ensuring her own good luck. In order to maintain the balance betwixt fortune & misfortune, the Gods of misfortune send Binboda Momiji to Earth. Her mission, drain Ichiko's fortune and prevent her stealing anyone else's. This quickly results in various schemes and shenanigans as Ichiko tries to protect…

As a parody of anime this has to be the best, making fun of popular anime such as death note, Rosario Vampire, and dragon ball z, as well as questioning the logic of anime. My favorite quote has to be "why do we keep getting transfer students?" "Because the main character is in out class." This is the type of anime an otaku whould enjoy as well as relate to because it answers the questions we all have. The best part of the anime is not only the comedy but the character development for a parody/comedy anime it can really touch you and get you attached to the characters while teaching you life lessons and how pushing people away is never the answer to anything. This is a must watch if you love anime and comedy for those of you who have not seen a lot of anime you probably should wait becau…
