Please read before watching this OVA!
As a person who played the VN i can sadly say this episode is not giving you the actual experience intended.
Please.. Read the VN!
Don't watch this.
You will miss what's actual beautiful in this route.
You can't fit a whole route inside a single episode. The route is like.. 7-9 hours.. Look at Kotomi or Fuko.. They had 5 episodes for their routes. Kyou's probably the same or even longer than theirs.
I guarantee you will have a way better experience by playing the VN. Play at least Kyou and Tomoyo's routes. The other routes are actually pretty good in the anime.
This route is my favorite in the VN (not considering the after story part which is a masterpiece). It made me actually feel something. Meanwhile this episode was a huge mess and could not…

Great episode. The Clannad series had very flat and boring heroines. However, I am glad to see that this episode gives more character to Kyou and Ryou. Sunohara is still a bro. Tomoya acted a bit out of character in this episode, but it's understandable why. I appreciate that the plot they started got resolved. I usually hate how love triangles lead to long term awkwardness, but this one lasts one episode so I found it enjoyable.
Better than the original Clannad, not as good as the climaxes in After Story.
This is some text filler because for some reason I am supposed to write an essay for a single episode, which I won't for obvious reasons. Please stop reading this review because there is nothing else.

Well hello there, my fellow anime aficionados! Today, we're going to take a look at Clannad: After Story - Mou Hitotsu no Sekai, Kyou-hen, and let me tell you, this show is the bee's knees!
Let's start with the story. It's deep, emotional, and it hits you right in the feels. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll come out the other side feeling like you just went through an emotional rollercoaster. The plot twists are as unpredictable as my ex-gf mood swings, and I absolutely loved it. Score: 8/10.
The art style is top-notch. The animation is smooth as butter, and the character designs are just gorgeous. I mean, have you seen Tomoyo Sakagami? She's hotter than a jalapeño on a summer day. Score: 9/10.
Finally,…

Love is a painful mystery we will probably never solve.
I don't really have much words for this OVA, just that it is really incredible how with one episode it has shown everything necessary to fall in love with this story and characters even more in another world. It shows you what every character is going through, what its like to be lost and loving the same person. If you should take a lesson from this OVA... it is never good going into a relationship just to discover yourself.
If you liked Tomoyo chapter, you will surely like this OVA too.
Recommeneded must watch if you have seen Clannad: After Story
9/10

I'm thrilled that this isn't the cannon ending. I hate love triangles. I hate the stupid high school drama it introduces when you force love triangles into a story. It's a played out obnoxious trope and I don't think anybody has ever genuinely wanted to see more of them in fiction.
Not only that but this story completely ignores Nagisa, and she gets sidelined to probably die alone unfulfilled and never having completed her goal of restarting the theater club. This is clearly a dark timeline bad ending and anyone who thinks otherwise is objectively wrong. There were no Kyou stans. It just isn't something that exists. I'd buy a Fuuko ending before I enjoy watching this.
So yeah both sisters are the worst, my favorite episode of the main show was when they both realized they didn't have a c…

After finishing the kyou route in the visual novel, i thought i would watch the OVA adaptation. Understandably, there were obvious cuts made, as its impossible to condense an 8 hour fleshed out story into a single 25 minute episode, therefore a-lot of the build up is lost, and only the main events are animated. To Kyoto animations credit, they did a good job of making sure no time was wasted, and attempted to include as much as they could in the form of a "montage". The material for a great adaptation of the VNs story is definitely there, and if the anime adaptation had been the length of a movie, it could have been great. Overall, if youre looking for something as fleshed out as the Clannad VN or after story you will be disappointed. My recommendation is to not watch this, and instead exp…

(TLDR Review at the bottom, as usual, thanks for reading)
If there is one thing that Clannad is most known for it is for drama.
It may sound obvious at first, surely a drama will indeed contain drama, but Clannad seems to hold a title for creating drama in ways never seen before, so much so it has claimed the hearts of many. However, Clannad too has pushed the hearts of many away. In an attempt to bring the viewer to tears, Clannad doesn't always succeed at doing so, consequently, it is also gained the title of every slur used for dramas as such: cry bait, sob story, fake emotion, manipulating, the rest of it.
Having gone and rewatched a part of Clannad - this title, despite this chapter, Clannad Kyou, not being canon in respects to the anime series, I can still say that, indeed, Clanna…

Clanna: After Story - Mou Hitotsu no Sekai, Kyou-hen was pretty boring honestly. The parts of Clannad I like are the good arcs that lead to emotional climaxes, which this one does not. It feels much more like a generic anime high school romance than any of the other relationships throughout Clannad. It also should really be called Ryou-hen, as its about her for most of the special, and she is honestly my least favorite character of the main cast. She is yet another shy, kind of airheaded character like Nagisa and Kotomi, except she gets a third of the screen time and is way less important. Kyou is slightly better, but still isn't a character that I'm a super big fan of. The story is really just kind of boring, with a pretty basic conflict and a pretty predictable resolution. It's not the w…

First off, I should probably say that I am not a fan of OVA's or special episodes. They typically have little to no correlation with the anime plot, and while they should at least partially try and compliment it, they instead present a filler episode. This one is different.
I must say I was taken aback by the beautiful art, likely one of the best-animated episodes in the entire series, I could really feel the raindrops, presented locations and feel the character as I was directly watching them from behind a camera. An outstanding job is done here.
It would not be Clannad without sentimental music, and I was not disappointed here either. The fantastic, new soundtrack accompanying the story made it only more dramatic and complete.
Sadly, I felt the plot lacking a little. I guess I can cal…

“We can only hurt each other … because we ended up liking the same person.”
We´re here to celebrate Fujibayashi Kyou. And i suppose Fujibayashi Ryou too. (May contain spoilers.)
After the expectacular 2nd season of Clannad(Clannad:After Story), the train of feels had to make sure it would end its travel with a memorable OVA and...let me tell you, this one won my heart.
One scene. Rain. A colourless day. A girl in love to someone who is loved already. These 3-4 minutes were enough to convince me that Clannad isn´t just laughs and jokes. Behind all of that, lies a cruel world where everyone suffers and cries in pain. That is probably the biggest quirk this anime has to offer; it may sound weird but if you put into perspective, that´s why you watch a drama, to show to people that there…

I actually watched this about 9 years ago so I don't remember how much it differs from the VN, but it should basically be Kyou's route so I'll talk about this.
This is by far the worst route in Clannad. Scratch that, this is by far the worst route in all of Key's works. And Kyou is by far the worst character to ever come out of this great company. Everybody makes mistakes I guess. (you can find a detailed tier list on my profile in which I put Kyou on the "Please Die" Tier.)
She is a manipulative psycho with murderous tendencies, and she doesn't think twice before throwing heavy objects on people from multiple floors up or trying to run them over with her scooter. Then she laughs it off. Psycho. The fact that nobody has ever tried to get her to a psychiatrist (or better yet, report her to…

This review might contain some spoiler but i'll make it less as much as possible and rephrase it.
Story: What will you do if one of your friend suddenly confessed to you? would you accept it? and what if that friend of yours had a twin sister who also likes you and was also your friend? who would you choose? this is the main plot of this OVA, its a realistic story nowadays where in both sibling fall in love with the same person but the question still remains who should you choose? Upon watching this OVA i realized that once you choose between them you'll end up hurting the other one, no matter how good at you of rejecting that person it will still hurt them and the only way you can do is be happy with the person you choose to show them that you will take care of here twin sister and bear…

Please just do me a favor and play the visual novel before watching this mess of an adaptation. This adaptation deserves at least 3 episodes to do it justice, and the fact that they tried to complete the whole thing in one 24 minute episode is blasphemy.
Ryou gets none of the development that she gets in the VN. Her development is the backbone of this entire arc. You do not get to see Ryou and Tomoya's relationship develop, you do not get to see Tomoya's feelings get more and more confused until they boil over and explode into a fantastic ending that was done so poorly in this adaptation, and you do not get to see the true extent of what Kyou was going through during this entire ordeal. Ryou is not meant to be the bad guy, but that is what I feel this adaptation was trying to do, and it i…

Okay I love Kyou she is My favorite girl in clannad and my waifu, which meant that coming into this i may have been expecting too much, i honestly feel the Kyou in Nagisa's adaptation is a much better character being a good stable platonic friend with no ulterior motives or i should say less ulterior motives.
i love kyou i played the visual novel just to get a better feel as to who she is and just have more from her but it was how should i put this a bit jarring, i just dont understand her motivations in this plot it just makes no sense to me as far as an adaptation of the story kyoto animation did an excellent job to that its not some descrepency between the vn and anime its just as the protagonasts love interest her actions are just absurd i dont understand mate.

Clannad: After Story - Mou hitotsu no Sekai, Kyou-hen takes an interesting approach at an alternate universe in which another girl takes the heart of our main character.
I enjoyed this differentiation from the main story, but it felt somewhat rushed. I suppose it's more there to show the different adaptation from the visual novel, but ultimately a single episode is too short in capturing a lot of emotion, which Clannad is originally the best at.
It's certainly worth the watch if you enjoyed Clannad, I would recommend watching this after After Story, but you can do as you please of course. Just don't expect it to touch you as much as the original and especially After Story itself can do.

I wasn't a big fan of Clannad (rated 5, 8 for After Story) partly because I just didn't like Nagisa. The way she ended up how she ended up annoyed me personally and I was never really a fan of her personality. I always thought of Kyou as the best girl so this OVA was perfect.
Really, the story was just great. Basically what I wanted to happen in the series but I think it acutally worked better for an OVA.
The romance was good. The characters were swell. The developments in the story were on point.
Like I said before, I'm a little biased because I really am not a fan of Nagisa, but this OVA was great. It did feel a little crammed and if the split it up into two parts it may have been better, but it definitely worked.

**Spoilers sorry**
I was not happy with this OVA. I really liked Kyou's character throughout Clannad and Clannad After Story, but this really ruined it (I watched this after watching Clannad, the Tomoyo OVA, and Clannad AS because I messed up the viewing order)
Kyou came off as immature, even slutty in this OVA. I always saw her as a figure of stability, a strong version of Ryou. But after she tried to force herself onto Sunohara, I basically lost all respect for her.
I was also unhappy with Tomoya when he decided to go out with a girl he clearly did not like (Ryou). If you don't like a girl, there's never a reason to say "hey let's give it a try", no matter how much she wants it. To be fair, he's a greenhorn at dating, but still illogical and unlike Tomoya's character.

Clannad: After Story - Mou Hitotsu no Sekai, Kyou-hen in a word: NotClannadEither
It's basically the same idea as Clannad: Mou Hitotsu no Sekai, Tomoyo-hen so I'm going to give it the same review:
All this is an alternative reality with the characters. It doesn't give more to the main story of Clannad and Clannad After Story. If you have played the visual novel you might enjoy it more than I did, but I didn't gain anything from watching it.
The art was good, the characters were their usual selves, but I adore the relationship between Nagisa and Tomoya and their relationship wasn't the focus of this story. So I kind of checked out on it.
If you want to watch it, just to see the Clannad characters back in action, go for it, but I will probably never rewatch it.

I assume anyone planning to watch this has seen Clannad so I won't bother describing the characters, art, sound, things you wouldn't already know about.
The plot of this is essentially a love triangle between Ryou, Kyou, and Tomoya. Not much more I can say without spoiling since its just one episode.
If you watched Clannad and are looking for more Clannad then go ahead and watch it, I thought it was well done.

As one concludes Clannad: After Story, they are presented with another "alternate world" OVA (such as the one that ended the first season of the original Clannad anime) in the form of a chapter focused around Kyou Fujibayashi (as well as in turn: Ryou, her younger twin sister).
The episode takes place time-wise around the end of the first season of the show (though not given an "exact" episode parallel like the last one with Tomoyo). However, it strangely works better to watch it at the end of the second season and I don't think it would have the same impact if watched in tandem with the first season's end.
Any fan of the show who has watched up until this final OVA episode knows that both Fujibayashi twins struggled with affections towards the main protagonist Tomoya Okazaki since epis…
