Darwin's Game

Darwin's Game

Introduction

High school student Kaname Sudou receives an invitation from a classmate to play Darwin's Game, a mobile game he has never heard of. However, as soon as he opens the application, a green snake suddenly pops out from his phone screen and bites his neck, leaving him unconscious. Waking up in the infirmary without any signs of a snake bite, he is told by the school to take the rest of the day off. Although he is puzzled by what has happened, he dismisses the surreal experience as a hallucination and boards the train home. Unfortunately, his curiosity gets the better of him and he uses the application once again. As the application appears to be just like any other battle game, Kaname breathes out a sigh of relief and decides to start his first match. However, the pleasant surprise is short-lived, as his in-game opponent unexpectedly appears right in front of him and attempts to hunt him down with a knife. As he desperately runs for his life, Kaname puts two and two together and realizes that Darwin's Game is not an ordinary game, but rather, it's a brutal fight for survival. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Darwin's Game has enough going for it to be entertaining, but I still found it aggressively mid. The premise is generic and there are some cool action scenes, but Shuka and Rein were the only characters I really cared about. Kaname was easily my biggest issue, mainly because his pacifist attitude feels completely out of place in a kill-or-be-killed battle royale, making it hard to take him seriously when he tries to intimidate his enemies. He constantly gets outmatched and survives through luck or plot armour, which makes his victories feel unsatisfying. Shuka and Rein, on the other hand, are much more enjoyable because they're competent, decisive, and proactive. There are some fun moments, but I still left feeling more frustrated than satisfied.

Very good opening and ending. The buildup to the ending is also very good. Fine osts too. The animation was good overall, given that this is an action anime. Although the drawing is average in some scenes. Fine-to-weak characters, as their motives and backstories aren't well presented (e.g., Wang, Rin...). The story isn't the most unique, but it's fine for the most part. I can definitely see it getting better with that whole Master Game plot if there is a new season. The MC's transformation in the last episode is a bit sudden and less believable. I think it's and enjoyable anime if you like action and mystery.

An entertaining but relatively uninspired entry into the high-stakes game genre. Darwin’s Game does succeed in retaining your attention despite flaws. You can turn your brain off in a positive sense. It incorporates an interesting power system, has decently well-animated action, and features a double-length first episode. Unfortunately, it falters on most narrative levels. Character relationships are shallow, yet they have familial bonds despite having little to no interactions, and many situations and explanations are lacking, yet basic concepts are voiced for no reason. Finally, the adaptation was sub-par with cut material, glossed over details, and inconsistent pacing. A somewhat enjoyable, though mediocre background watch.

Darwin's Game is a survival thriller that blends urban mystery, high-stakes battles, and social strategy into a modern, action-driven narrative. The story centers on a seemingly ordinary mobile game that secretly grants players supernatural abilities, known as “Sigils,” in deadly competitions where losing often means death. At its core, the series examines human instincts, trust, betrayal, and the moral compromises people make when survival is on the line. The plot follows Kaname Sudou, a high school student drawn into the game after receiving an invitation from a mysterious app. Initially naive and unprepared, Kaname is forced to quickly adapt, learning to navigate life-or-death battles while discovering allies and enemies hidden among seemingly ordinary people. Shuka Karino, a skilled an…

Interesting premise only made better by a smaller but very talented studio. The biggest issue being how short it is. Rushing a show who's entire niche is being more psychological than anything else, into 11 episodes can only really end in a rushed product. And it's very apparent with how little the characters are built, how small the world feels, and how confusing the conflict is. When you sacrifice outstanding visuals for a plot line that attempts to make you think instead, and then fall on your face with conflict a 12 year-old could solve, you end up with a nothing burger that relies solely on being different. And unfortunately, the fast-paced nature that 11 episodes brings does nothing to bolster that. The only redeeming aspect is the overall animation quality by Nexus. With more episod…

Darwin’s Game blew me away—it’s the kind of anime where you sit down to watch one episode, and before you know it, you’re binging the whole series in one night. The story pulls you in immediately and doesn’t let go, throwing you into a world where every move counts, and survival is the ultimate goal. The plot revolves around Kaname, our main protagonist, who unwittingly gets dragged into this deadly survival game. At first, you think, “Okay, just another death game anime,” but trust me, it’s so much more than that. The stakes are high, the twists keep coming, and every episode leaves you craving the next. One thing that stood out to me is the balance between action, strategy, and even a bit of romance. Kaname’s dynamic with Shuka, the “Undefeated Queen,” is such a refreshing touch. She’s…

To be honest i kinda like overall of these anime, but they not good ! here's the reason 1. These games are not well-setted at all, all the time it just giving like funny sense of reality that go with what the writer wants 2. thiss the one I hated the most, even though it was a fair trade to make the enemy deserve what they this, but the power that MC has and all just unfair, it just making you feel like you didnt actually win, but you got it by cheating, these are just some false anime, but after all it is a fine anime to watch.

Darwin's Game, is a high-stakes game in which players kill other players for points (rewards). In other words, it's a survival-killing fest or battle royale. I can also say it's a cheap Fate/Stay Night or Fate/Zero... Instead of using magic, they use just martial arts, swords, handguns, grenades, etc. So it's more raw and gore here... Instead of summoning servants, players are granted a unique skill that is largely unbalanced, some are too OP, and some are way useless... The story is nothing special. They kill players in an open city, kill police officers, people are missing every day, and nobody thinks it's weird? The game is large-scale, 200+ players die in one event. There are clan wars and mafia gangs... It is also easy to invite anyone using a smartphone, people can accidentally cli…

I really recommend this anime. I have been watching boring anime for a long time, this anime grabbed my attention and I finished it very quickly. The story is very unique. The cool idea is a cell phone game that forces you to fight people. I like that each character gets a special ability. The pace of the series is excellent, the characters are interesting but i think they had to give them some more background story. I really liked the art. The music in the series is very good and so are its voice actors. An excellent opening that totally belongs in my playlist. I would watch it again.

Darwin's game really is a mind-blowing anime. The concept of the game is really cool even though it resembles the concept from the book Game by Anders de la Motte, which is a trilogy. Still, it's something to look forward to. The Game book and Darwin's game have a lot of similarities but it's not like they are completely the same. I really enjoyed the character development of the protagonist at the end. The way he realized that his current ways weren't enough was blasting tho. But they made him go through so much trauma. The genre suited the adaptation and the characters were so fantastic. I highly recommend this anime.

Darwin's game was a surprisingly good series. I expected a very standard 'hunger-games-esque' type show. It really surprised me how much I enjoyed it. The MC has a steady development throughout and ends on a good note. I hope a season 2 releases one day but for now the existing content is satisfaction enough. I think anyone who enjoyed things like Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) or just standard last man standing/king of the hill types, will enjoy this anime. The pacing is good. The characters are interesting enough. And just the addition of unique powers per player adds an almost unlimited potential of possibilities for unseen characters in the future. Though I think the manga may have finished? The story isn't complex at all, it's straightforward and easy to keep up with. Episodes feel…

It’s just a little better version of Mirai Nikki. nothing more and nothing less. Story follows kinda like it. Hunter Games-like game on a phone where people actually die except it’s on IPhone instead of a fliphone. The only characters I like the most from the main cast is Ryuji Maesaka (the skull masked guy) He’s very entertaining and likable to me, very underrated, scary on the outside but caring in the inside and has a lot of potential as a character in my opinion (that’s if there’s ever going to be more seasons in which I doubt) and Rein Kashiwagi, she’s the serious and mature but also the kinda nice and smart black hair girl. She reminds me of Konoha from Orbital Children for some reason. Those are the only characters I like, Everyone is to me here is either fine, meh, or bad. Would…

Darwin's Game is a Japanese anime series that centers around Kaname Sudou, an ordinary high school student who is invited to play a mysterious mobile game called Darwin's Game. Upon entering the game, Kaname finds himself trapped in a deadly game of survival where players must fight to the death using unique abilities. From the very first episode, I was hooked on the show's thrilling plot and well-developed characters. Kaname's journey through the game is full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, and the supporting cast is equally compelling. The animation quality of Darwin's Game is impressive, with smooth and fluid movements that add to the overall intensity of the fight scenes. The use of color and lighting also helps to create a dark and foreboding atmosphere that…

Darwin's Game As everyone knows, every anime season has its misfits who wouldn't even be loved by their mothers. And Darwin's Game has proven a lot of things with the first 3 episodes, especially how low you can fall and have no idea what you're doing. But I wouldn't call this anime bad, even though the first episodes were just a disaster. Darwin's Game, despite everything, has a relatively average plot, a somewhat detailed game concept, and especially a protagonist which is more rational than you would think. To my surprise, this grit went from being a bad show to a weak show, and in the end, even a slightly below-average show. It is rare to see how a bad series gets better bit by bit. In the beginning, I could hardly imagine watching this garbage to the end and wishing there would be…

During early 2020, everyone found themselves indoors and it’s fair to say that the anime that came out was of the quantity weren’t used to for quite some time. This meant that you were more invested in the shows that were coming out. This was a show I watched with intense. The story is something we are all too familiar with therefore, I won’t bore you with the details. It’s what sets itself apart from what it doesn’t, that is the interesting bits. What it did do differently I think it did quite well. While the setting was something I was already used to, the way it was executed was enough to set itself apart. I enjoyed the pacing of the episodes quite a bit. While the introduction was something familiar, it was the centre part of the anime that I found to be quite enjoyable. I enjoyed th…

Logic, reason, reality… these are things I simply do not care about. But because of an anime called Darwin’s Game, we need to talk about them. And by we, I do mean me, so take a seat and let me tell you why this anime is crap. Darwin’s Game tries to pass itself off as a battle royale, one of my favorite sub-genres, but it really isn’t. I expected it to be dumb, shlocky, and nonsensical, which has never stopped me from enjoying an anime before. So I prepared to suspend my disbelief, but nothing could prepare me for what I have witnessed. The titular death game everyone plays, shortened to D-Game, is a fight to the death downloadable right on your phone. Players enlist to earn cash money and to get away with murder. It’s also a dueling arena, a power struggle between clans, a citywide scav…

Darwin's Game is another take on the "death game" concept that has gained popularity in recent years in various mediums. Everything about the setup itself reeks of reuse, though. There are certainly novelties about some aspects of the anime's system and premise, but a lack of real individuality causes me some inhibition in liking it that much. Additionally, character motives and the reality of interpersonal relationships also become somewhat muddled towards the end of the run. Deeply sci-fi rooted concepts like Laplace's demon and spontaneous materialization are explored, but almost feel like individual add-ons to boost the story, rather than well-integrated pawns of the plot. Setting these flaws aside though, the music slaps and it was easy to binge in one sitting, so I must at least pra…

tl;dr: An urban death game anime with a heavy emphasis on the growth of it’s protagonist. Darwin’s Game is an anime centered around players playing a death game of the same name that’s run entirely from a smart phone app and may start anywhere and at any moment. There are different mechanics that come and go, but at it’s core it’s a game where each player is given a supernatural ability known as a Sigil which they must then use to fight others, often to the death. If they win they receive points from the loser which can be exchanged for various items or incredibly high amounts of cash. However, the penalty for losing all of one’s points is death. There’s some foundation for a larger overarching plot regarding the mysteries behind the game itself, but this season is primarily centered arou…

The first few episodes of Darwin's game would leave the average joe dumbfounded. The concept is abstract, the story is mostly unexplained, and I don't blame you. Darwin's game is based on the concept "Might makes Right", but allow me to clear your doubts by explaining why this anime is brilliant. Following the concept of Darwinism, the story mainly focuses on the theme of dominance and power, which is shown throughout the show. It's interesting because Darwin's game really leaves you questioning about a lot of things that happen within the story. It's not too dramatic, has decent fight scenes and successfully demonstrates its high-stakes theme. Its plot also gets straight to the point (and has good context), allowing for an easier understanding of the basis of this show. Sure, some things…
