Show from my youth amazing at the time but doesn't quite hold up on re-watch.
Worth a watch but not going to blow your mind, go into it with average expectations and you'll be happy. High expectations or nostalgia will probably be disappointed.
Great concepts, settings, artwork, sound
Okay characters -
---They can be fairly inconsistent and backstories feel light
---A lot of characters that last like 10 minutes, too long for side appearance, not long enough for backstory
---For an anime with amnesia MC zero character arcs (guess the arc is he remembers/learns but zero personality change or development), Saki kinda gets a resolution but I wouldn't call it change/development
Pretty Bad Plot/Writing
---Story tends to jump around a lot especially the first few episodes this is made worse by…

When I'm King
Quite a bold anime to say the least.
This is both one of the most thought provoking shows ever and one of the most unsatisfying shows ever. It's a show that doesn't hand you a whole lot to understand what's going on. It asks questions you're not gonna get answers to, and it works very well. You can definitely say this show has a lot of unresolved plot points by the end, but I think that would be missing the point. It's about the journey moreso than the destination.
In this anime, you're gonna wonder a whole lot about what the point of some things were, and that pondering makes you linger on the ideas presented to you. There's a great mystery surrounding the story that grips you, but beyond that, it's the ideas that make you keep hanging on. The characters are okay, aside f…

EoE starts as a battle ship, sails like a fishing boat, and then sinks like a stone.
Story: 5/10
A fever dream.
The start is extremely interesting. However, from there things kept happening with no direction or explanations that could get us anywhere. Things kept getting hectic, yeah it served the comedy but that's it.
Characters: 7/10
There isn't much told about the characters background. Howwwever, the characters are fun to watch and keep you engaged. ML, FL and most of her gang members, Pants, and even some of the villain which are barely relevant, had good designs and loveable atmosphere.
Art 8/10 Sound 9/10
Enjoyment 8/10:
Honestly, the premise is great, the fun, mystery, and elements of adventure are there. The anime flops with the undeveloped plot, missing info, and wth ending.…

Note: This will be a review of both the anime and the two movies.
Overview:
Just like there have been many examples of Western media influenced by anime and Japanese culture (the "Avatar" franchise, "Miraculous Ladybug", "The Matrix" etc.), so too have there been anime influenced by Western culture. Perhaps one of the most blatant examples of this is "Eden of the East", an anime explicitly and heavily inspired by American spy movies, most notably the "Bourne" series. Unfortunately, while it does provide an interesting and entertaining series to sit through, in the end "Eden of the East" never even comes close to matching the quality of the movies it so shamelessly borrows ideas from.
Story (6.5/10):
"Eden of the East" begins with one of the most unique, not to mention bizarre openings to…

Eden of the east, or higashi no Eden, has always been on my mind to check out. There was a lot of interesting things already before I watched it. Idea that we are following a character who has amnesia and a mix of scifi and mystery helped me to already Connect..saying that though this show..is quite excellent.
Taking place in "modern day" Japan, we follow Takizawa, a mysterious boy, who has lost his memories. With this he meets saki, a Japanese girl who was on holiday at America. With this they work together not only a mystery in Japan but who Takizawa was before he lost his memories. With this, Takizawa only has two things, a phone and a mission to save the world. The premise while simple..does get complicated and I can't lie, while I really love the premise, I did kind of get lost beca…

As one of the more intriguing premises in anime to date, Eden of The East, though stumbling periodically, delivers on the initial hook and ultimately lands on its feet. Many great ideas and unique concepts were explored, engaging the viewer by consistently posing questions to develop the narrative. However, there were also many odd writing decisions that, while not ruining the enjoyment, would leave the audience wondering why they were implemented. Nonetheless, the well-executed scenes, character interactions, and chemistry between the main cast gave an overall positive impression. Despite some hindrances, it is worth giving this a chance if you are interested in the synopsis.

Not gonna lie, I had some realllllly high hopes for this show. The first 3-4 episodes do a pretty great job setting up an interesting mystery and building intrigue around this charming but unreliable main character. And even after those eps, it brought up some real neat ideas! How are young people reacting to a society that ignores and belittes them? What are they capable of? How many (legal and nonlegal) ways are there to “save the world”?
But after all that set up, all you end up with is characters you don’t care about, an unfulfilling endpoint to the mystery, a suspense plot with no exciting climax, and a romance thats dead on arrival. It’s textbook definition of disappointing.
I feel like my biggest gripe has to do with the main characters. Esp for our main heroine. I never on…

Eden of the East is an idea I like. the execution does leave me bore some of the time. it has funny characters and an interesting story, but it's just didn't catch my attention.
I really enjoyed the setup because the naked guy with revolver no memory and a girl who needed to get away from the cops. It is wonderful start
mystery just keep building up and it is fun, so I don't question it. but there is a point where the story gets so b*** and so much stuff is happening so I'm just like. I have to tap out, I can no longer keep up and I'm just trusting the story to make sense for somebody who truly care .
I like the character design they are So cute round in the designs. characters are fine. They do the job. I just think the show lacks something,
I like the themes, and what the story is a…

I have one question for myself, and that is... WHY did I watch the entire thing? I DON'T HAVE ANY POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE FEELINGS ABOUT THIS. There's nothing striking or interesting about this show. The big reveal at the end as to what the cliche high-stakes-game that the directors fruitlessly try to elude and thrill the viewer with *even is*, ends up being REALLY fucking dull. Everything about it is just dull. The experience is akin to eating paper. You chew it and you chew it and shit it out eventually but ultimately get no nutritional value.
This is neither good nor bad. It exists in a retarded limbo of mediocrity. Stay away from Eden of The East unless you genuinely have nothing better to do and want background noise to your thoughts while staring lifelessly at the screen. Moving lights…

"Eden of The East" kinda left me with mixed emotions. Not gonna lie, I don't understand my feeling after finishing this anime. The big point of the show is pretty clear – talking about shaking up the economy, the whole old gen vs. new gen drama, and how messed up the work/study/life grind can be. But, it also felt like there were a bunch of holes in the story that just didn’t get filled (yes, I'll watch other 2 movies hoping that it'll explain everything, but truth be told, I wish I wouldn't). You know, these are 2 types of show that leave you hanging:
1) ones that are perfectly made from the first time and just leave you with impression of wanting more
2) ones that are made in a good way, but miss a lot of important information for whatever reason. And you have to watch other parts just…

(My view changed from "Mixed" to "Recommended" after watching the movies. Read the end of the review to understand why. The rest of the review remains unchanged from when I first watched it. THIS WHOLE REVIEW CAREFULLY AVOIDS SPOILERS!)
I just finished watching, and I'm quite conflicted. If you don't want my mixed opinion to influence negatively in your decision to watch the anime, skip the next two paragraphs.
I wish I could rate this higher, but the last 2 episodes almost threw the whole anime off the window for me. It was building up to something really interesting, intriguing, at a nice slow pace that was quite enjoyable, while developing the dynamics between the characters through well-meshed, entertaining situations. Then the 10th episode comes in and pushes the whole plot forward…

Spoiler-free (nothing that isn't in the MAL synopsis or revealed immediately) should-you-watch review:
Eden of the East is a fascinating anime, and I'm not talking about the plot. What it tries to do, and the place it sits between different genres is something I've thought back about plenty of times since watching. It wouldn't be unfair to call the anime and subsequent movies underwhelming, but at the same time, there is a sublime groundedness that permeates the whole work. It really is quite strange, but in a pleasant way. I struggled with rating this an 8 instead of 9, but it's that comfortable underwhelmingness that led me here.
The most important thing to know before starting: the series doesn't stand alone, the movies are clearly filling in for the second arc, and you should treat t…

Eden of the East sort of resembles a death game anime at first, but it's only superficially similar and not nearly as stupid as what you can expect from that genre—or at the very least, these 12 participants are a little more thoughtful and not always murderous. The 12 are referred to as Selecao, and they're given 10 billion yen and a phone they can use to issue orders and have any of their desires fulfilled. This can be as simple and innocuous as ordering an item—it can also entail assassinating someone or launching a missile.
Their purpose is to revitalize, save, change, or otherwise alter Japan—we can assume it's meant to be for the better, but they have enough power at the tips of their fingers to destroy Japan. The logistics are absurd, and they can be granted just about any very dif…

Eden of the East is a super fresh and original concept, it's extremely intriguing and honestly, I enjoyed it a lot. The idea of being given a ton of money and being told to save the world is honestly fantastic. However, it is not to say the show itself is flawless. The TV anime ended on quite a weak note despite the pretty entertaining build-up and climax. I can't say it's exactly poor but it definitely should have gotten a second cour considering there's still so much more to it. I particularly liked the opening theme as well and I found the animation sequence to be pretty nice. The rest of the OST was also not too bad either, it definitely immersed you into the world of Eden of the East. I liked the art style as well as it was pretty fluid and the character designs were also very interes…

like everyone else said, the first episode is amazing, so fascinating, such charismatic leads, and afterwards the show remains entertaining but not in any sense great.
it was absurd half the time (the first episode itself, but also the NEETs! the johnny killer! lol) and that's my favorite thing about it.
i loved akira, he was so easy to root for, and probably because i loved akira so much i HATED ogushi. wow. i hate him. whiny b**** boy. leave saki alone! stop putting your nose in things and jumping to conclusions! ugh I REALLY HATE HIM and i have no one to tell so i'm writing it here. i was motivated to write this review (my first animereview thing) just so i could complain about how much he got on my nerves.
anyway
akira and saki, animation, absurdity=best things about the show. too…

Alright, this anime was good...........that's it. It was just "good". The story was interesting the whole way through, though i was confused most of the time, the animation was solid, and the soundtrack was really good (done by the same composer as Mob Psycho 100), and yeah. It was good. Nothing more, nothing less.
But would i recommend it? no. Sure the story was interesting and there were all these great aspects but it didn't feel very unique and it lacked impact-fullness. There were all these mysteries and pieces to the puzzle in disarray but when they were all connected together at the end it didn't move me or make me feel anything different from the rest of the story and it's not supposed to be that way.

Honestly, I loved this anime. The plot was especially intriguing. It left me wanting to know what happens next. I also enjoyed the characters and the romance between them, however short-lived it was (as far as the anime ending goes).
The other characters were also very interesting. They even got some depth, despite being side characters! But overall, the mystery is what kept me going.
You got this naked guy showing up in the middle of the street, next to the White House, with no memory of who he is, and with a cellphone where he can order literally anything through the super-cool AI, Juiz, using the ¥8.2 billion left on it. All with the pretense of "saving Japan."
Of course, then you find out if the money is used for selfish reasons, some dude will come and kill you. And then you find…

This anime drags you in and holds you. It gives you some topics and ideas then tells you to sleep on it, it's like a ride that you want to binge because you know it's trying to do something cool.
I'm going to keep this "pretty" non-spoiler. I could see people say that Saki is too easygoing but she talks about how her life's going and it sounds like what she's looking for is to be whisked away so when the opportunity was given to her, I kind of don't blame her despite what an odd situation she was put in. Not to mention how they make it a point that she's dealing with reality versus the way she wants things, that's kind of the premise actually, with the 'change the world' idea and is really smart to include it this way. I kind of feel the same way if I'm honest. She does turn out to be mo…

So a friend of mine recommended this anime to me over the summer I got into anime-- yeah, I know, 2020's a bit late but better late than never! If I could describe Higashi No Eden in one word, it's odd.
This entire show was quite odd indeed. The story is super unique and far-fetched which I definitely love because it feels like a breath of fresh air. I've never read a story or watched a show that had this kind of story, and the writers threw us in right where it all started which was very exciting. The atmosphere that the art in each scene gives off feels airy, cold, and thirst-quenching. This is like taking a deep breath in a cold winter-- not cold enough to freeze but not warm enough to feel mundane.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys mysterious stories. The charac…

(TLDR at the bottom, thanks for reading.)
Eden of the east is a story of many parts that never seem to come together to make one cohesive whole. It has some interesting ideas about social and economic issues which form the backbone of the story. But then there are many other bits tacked on like a death game plot that is way more complicated than it should be, many different groups of people for the economics bit to bounce off. Everything is slightly off kilter giving some of the events a slightly surreal/dream-like atmosphere and a few other bits.
But these events don't come together and seem to get in the way of each other.
On a social/economic level, the show is about the issue of NEET's (not in education, employment or training). Mainly focusing on the millennial generation, Eden of…
