The core idea is extremely good, yet the narrative execution makes the whole film confusing to watch.
I was amazed by how this movie provokes thoughts about life itself.
It is rare to see movies that spark such inner realizations.
One small issue is that I realized all of that 30 minutes after I finished watching the film, through some research, because it was pretty hard to have a clear understanding of what actually happens.
Now, it is good for movies to allow different interpretations for the viewer, but it is safer to keep it around the "why": "Why did this character do that?". Not the "what", like here. Making the viewer, at some points, even ask "What actually happened there?"
You often see movies making the viewer reconstruct the meaning, the "why", in order to make an interpr…

I don’t know how a film about fireworks, summer holidays and first love could be both so beautiful and so confusing. 😭
Fireworks is one of those films that, through its trailers and visuals, promises a romantic, nostalgic story in the style of Your Name or The Tunnel to Summer. And then you sit down to watch it and spend half the time trying to understand what on earth is actually happening on screen.
The plot (and a few unanswered questions)
The story centres on Norimichi and Nazuna, who, one summer’s day, try to escape their problems. At one point, a mysterious orb appears, allowing them to alter the course of events and explore different versions of reality. Sounds interesting. And for a while, it really is. The problem is that the film very quickly starts prioritising atmosphere over…

It's a decent movie and had a lot of potential. The music and animation are a big highlight but unfortunately, these two aspects are the only two reasons why most people would like this movie. The Sci-Fi concept is good and a little confusing but i understood it later on. The story is painfully simple tho and the characters are pretty basic, Nazuna is the only Interesting and well written character in my opinion. It's a good experience because of the animation quality but there is better stuff out there so it's really upto the person who wants to watch it. The movie had a lot of potential but it lacks in execution unfortunately.

this movie was the most saddest thing iv ever watched and it wasnt because of the story its from how bad it is the characters might as well be rocks i watched this years ago and i still have nightmares of how bad this was iv watched many movies and shows this can not compare to the gut retching horror this movie is.
i will admit the art is beautifully well done but thats about it thats the only positive i can say but if you care enough about you well being go watch your name or a silent voice instead.

Honestly, this movie was a complete letdown. It tries really hard to be deep and emotional, but the execution just doesn’t work. The whole time-travel concept felt messy and inconsistent. Thus, instead of being clever, it just got more confusing with each reset. By the end, I didn’t feel moved or satisfied, just frustrated.
The characters didn’t help either. Nazuna could’ve been interesting, but the story never gave her proper depth, and Norimichi felt more like a plot device than a real person. Their relationship had no real weight, so all the “dramatic” moments came off hollow. The supporting cast was even worse.
Visually, sure, it looked nice in parts, but the weird switches between 2D and 3D completely broke immersion. Some scenes were gorgeous, then suddenly you get clunky CGI that…

Anime Review: Uchiage Hanabi, Shita kara Miru ka? Yoko kara Miru ka?
People have their own opinions about Uchiage Hanabi, Shita kara Miru ka? Yoko kara Miru ka? Some people mock it as a terrible anime movie, often critiquing its pacing, problem with 3D animation, or failure to express emotional attachment.
But I think this anime deserves some extra points for its original story, gorgeous artwork, and quirky charm. It's not perfect, but to dismiss it altogether disregards its artistic value. Shall we strip it to the bare essentials:
Music: 6/10
More emotional, more memorable music would have connected the story more, but what we have here is something that comes and goes and is forgettable.
Characters: 8.5/10
Most of the merits of the movie really lie in its character design.…

I’m really not sure why this movie pisses me off so much but it really does. It’s simple but nonsensical and completely meaningless and not at all impactful. The animation is stellar but my compliments stop there. It’s not even offensively bad it’s just so painfully nothing. It didn’t beat me up and take my lunch money it just sat in the corner of my room menacingly for 90 minutes. I can think of so many better uses of 90 minutes…actually I don’t think I can think of worse ways to spend 90 minutes. This movie makes me unreasonably upset.

I watched this film after it spent an unholy amount of time being shelved on a watchlist, slowly gathering dust over the years. The primary reason behind such a long delay was due to my high expectations for it, due to the phenomenal 1995 film on which this one is based, the involvement of Shaft, and the music and OST that I had previously heard.
Needless to say, that backfired tremendously and the fact that I was a major fan of the 1995 film meant the plot failure for this adaptation only highlighted how it fared against the original. If this were an independent or original film, I would have certainly rated it a 7 (or a 7.5 at best), but a 6 seems to fit it best due to the injustice it does, compared to other great animated adaptations.
Overall, go into it with a fresh mind, and you sh…

This movie is a bit of a disaster. The art was okay, and the story was HORRIBLE!! I want to tell you why. First up the starting of the idea of going back in time with a small orb is great but the switch up between 1 friend who wanted to date that girl by winning a race and the main character who is the 2nd date by throwing a orb to win. The back-story with one of the characters was heart breaking and sad but the main character is just a cocky little snake who wants to date this girl. The idea of it sounds alright but the length of the movie didn't capture it in time. The movie said, "We're out of budget so cut to the end already." It felt rushed with this 90+ minutes of a movie. They're better ones out there. If you want to watch this because you see the other ones, then be my guest. I did…

The year was 2021 and I was in the early stages of getting back into anime. One of the things I really enjoyed doing at the start was watching AMVs, usually of Shinkai films like “Your Name” or “Weathering with You” with the theme song playing. During this time I came across this awesome song & music video by DAOKO and Kenshi Yonezu titled “Fireworks”. It was an instant favorite of mine and I’ve listened to it again and again over the years. I knew the AMV was about a movie, but it seemed that the general consensus online was that the film was disappointing so I held off on seeing it. Well yesterday (17 April 2023) curiosity killed the cat and I finally watched the full film. Is it worth it?
Short answer no. Hell no. “Fireworks” also known as “Fireworks, Should We See It from the Side or…

Please read the book instead of watching this movie, I mean go ahead and watch the movie if you want, but I recommend reading the book first, at least that's how I did it. I prefer the book.
Obviously the anime has some differences from the book, one of the most apparent maybe being that in the book they are in elementary school if I'm not mistaken. Also, the book contains a few nerdy little details, like how they play Mario Kart (I believe in the movie they play a fictional game). Something that some might like about the movie compared to the book is that they better justify certain scenes and the fact that you see what's going on rather than just reading and relying on your imagination.

Yikes.
I was not expecting this. Look, it might look amazing ill come back to it but I was not expecting this terrible of a movie.
The Story: The story frankly sucks. Neither character has any spine to them. When I heard the producers of Kimi no na Wa made it I watched it but it was nothing like Kimi no na Wa.
Animation: Only redeeming quality about it. It looks amazing no doubt about it. That's the only *good* thing about it.
Music: Nevermind, the DAOKO song is the only reason I heard about it. The song is freaking amazing, and it's part of the movie that.
Why you should watch it: You shouldn't. If you liked Your Name or the Daoko song, don't watch it.

This movie gave me mixed feelings first of all the animation on this was amazing i loved the art style movement scenery and all of that, however the general story seemed to be lacking it was as if a good studio was given alot of money and time but a terrible story board, the characters are introduced to quick and we are not able to really understand any of their motivations behind their actions or how they feel it seems this would have worked better if it were a tv series which could have gone more in depth with the story, the use of cgi also ticked me off the fact that it stood out so much from the normal animation brings the score down a bit aswell, the pacing was similar to morbius and you never could really understand what was going on apart from that the music and animation was amazin…

This is a fully average film, it's a decent time passer, but that's about it. Fireworks has a rather confusing plot towards the end. The story also lacks depth, and as such, isn't a particularly worthwhile film to watch.
One can't help but feel the writers try to lend an aura of supernatural mystery. But unlike Your Name, where it was done masterfully and logically, Fireworks struck an illogical and discordant tone. Plot elements feel unresolved, and a central mystery around the shape of fireworks feels out of place. The stakes, while made to seem high and suspenseful with great music and fantastical animation, are actually quite low and uninteresting.

Taking my time to watch this ended up making me hate myself more than I ever have.
This film felt like it was created by people with dementia and was made to spread awareness.
Instead of watching this film, here's a similar option:
Watch paint dry
The fact that some people rated this film as a 6 or higher scares me. It's evidence that shows the Coronavirus is mutating and becoming a long term disease This is proven by those people suffering from one of the most common symptoms of the Coronavirus: having no taste.
If you liked this film:
Are you okay? Do you need help with finding some positive coping skills? Are you seeing a therapist regularly? It's okay to expect more from yourself.

So this is the first romance movie from my collection I'll make a review. I remember when I watched this film way back 5 years ago in my local cinemas. When I first watched it, it was so confusing. But rewatching this again wasn't any time-wasting and I gained many realizations and deep knowledge about this film.
Fireworks is a supernatural drama, romance anime film released in 2017 and it was based on the live-action movie of the same name way back in the 1990s. Many audiences rated it low and said this is confusing to watch, but yep. This was confusing to watch like the plot is all over the place. It's like a big jigsaw puzzle. But if you see it from a different aspect or angle, and if you can combine all of the pieces, you might fully understand the meaning of the film and its message.…

I had incredibly high hopes for this movie, and I left feeling robbed.
I went with a group of friends and for the life of all of us we could not figure out what the point of the movie was. There was a romance story set up with a poorly developed time travel element thrown in and that is just about all this movie has to offer -- and it barely even develops that.
The film tries to take itself seriously but nothing about anything that happens comes across that way. The characters are bland and not charming. Their actions, decisions, and drives make no sense. The musical numbers are awkward and offer a strange tonal whiplash. The animation feels melodramatic and mismatched from the tone.
The only way to watch this is as a comedy, besides that, I'm not sure what these high scoring reviewers…

This is the first time I’m doing a review. So lemme keep this simple. However I'm not a great critic 😅
Well about this anime, I have couple of good and bad opinions.
{Caution!: Minor Spoilers ahead!}
Story:
The story is underrated but it’s fair to say that the anime adaptation was quite bad. I assume there are plenty of people who were introduced to this anime because of the MV ‘Uchihage Hanabi’. The story and its concept is nothing new to the audience, which is already spoilt by the music video itself. The movie comprised of the most irrelevant things like students trying to measure their teachers bust size, and guys debating whether fireworks are round or flat, that really had nothing to do with the story. Finally, a bunch of kids along with our protagonist ‘Norimichi’ then plan to wa…

the best thing about this movie is the song at the credits
(this review has spoilers!)
I rarely write reviews so ill keep this short but seriously don't watch this movie. It's rare that I watch an anime that pisses me off so much that I have to fast-forward bits, this managed to do that.
I started this with high hopes coz I heard the song by DAOKO and kenshi yonezu, and also saw miyano mamoru in the cast. I was very excited but as the movie unfolded I realized this is like one of those john green books but worse.
Firstly the whole argument in the movie was "are fireworks flat or round" which I thought at first must be like a joke or a small convo...but the fact they used that to determine important aspects of the movie pissed me off.
The main female lead's whole reason to run away was th…

Did you know?
Uchiage Hanabi, Shita kara Miru ka? Yoko kara Miru ka?, has a film adaptation from back in 1995. I just happened to have watched the film first and I think that greatly affected my expectation for this anime. The thing about the film adaptation; the original Uchiage Hanabi is that, it did great on reminding the viewer the following, which the anime tried but wasn't as successful:
1. Kids asks unusual questions (ex. the title of this anime: Fireworks, should we see it from the side or the bottom?).
2. Kids argue over silly things (ex. One kid would argue that the fireworks are flat/2D and the other kid would argue it's spherical/3D).
3. Kids or boys starts to show interest in girls but too shy to admit it in front of them and even in front of their o…
