7.5/10 - a rare find I was suggested this by another user as one of their favorite shows. And I have to say I understand why this would be someone's favorite. For me it's hard to really fall in love with only part of a whole so only having one true season that does take away from it a bit as always. This show is odd by western and even more Japanese centric focused shows. It doesn't spoon feed you the answers and makes you want to pay attention. I imagine it is going to be a great rewatch to catch all the little details they sprinkle in. That being said being very Chinese proverb and history based, it wants you to be confused like the main character and learn as you go. Certainly not something for everyone. My personal problem was many of the voice cast, who did a good job to fit the Vict…

Me going in unaware after having only read a few chapters: thrilling steampunk with cults oohhh I was then shot 30 times and strapped to a roller-coaster. Amazing animation that does justice to an incredible story. The pacing is good and it retains the steam-punk thriller vibe of the novel. Waiting for the next season eagerly!! Recommended even if you haven't read the novel, though reading the novel will make you appreciate the story a bit more, as without it you can become a little confused. But it can also serve as supplementary material to the novel readers, as it can clear the any confusions that readers might have from lack of visuals.

This show has changed my mind! One of the best I have ever seen, with such a unique world, unique systems, and characters. After this season finished, I read the entire novel! It has given me ideas for my RPG campaigns and for the stories I write. So for me, a 10/10. The story follows the isekai initial route: a man is thrown into a world, in a body and family that isn't his, not medieval times btw, but early industrial times (which is already a + for me since all stories are either current time, medieval times, or somewhere in the future - a very feel happens during the 1800s to early 1900s culturally speaking). However, a series of coincidences happens, making the mystery flow with ease. Aside from that, the world system is a bit hard to understand, but it doesn't feel overwhelming; we…

One thing I think people need to understand, is that you really have to watch the whole thing before reviewing it. Judging the anime too early, especially based on the first few episodes, doesn’t give you the full picture of what it’s building toward. LOTM is a story that takes its time establishing its world, characters, mysteries, and overall atmosphere. A lot of the details introduced early on become more meaningful as the story progresses, so watching everything before forming an opinion makes a huge difference. The world-building, mystery, characters, animation, and storytelling all come together incredibly well. There are moments that might seem confusing or slow at first, but they’re often setting up something important later. That’s why I think giving a review before finishing th…

It is like if someone tried to recap a fantasy novel you'd never heard of in your life within about six hours. It is beautiful, on a very objective level, you can see where so much of the budget must have gone to make the most breathtaking scenery for the total payoff of one neat moment in the same episode. Where it could ever struggle is perhaps the steps it takes from episode to episode, as from what I know it is adapting a fuck ton and fitting it into this pretty space couldn't ever be perfectly clean. Yet, for every little tidbit of information it misses it manages to cram it in somewhere else so the viewer isn't left completely unaware or forced to make assumptions. LOTM is the fucking wiki warrior's wet dream, there are 5 second slides of information between scenes, an entire season…

This is kino. You will not find extraordinary depth in the characters, or a moralistic plot, or overarching lessons and insights. However the world design and magic system of the show is nearly unparalleled. The VAs are talented and perform their characters well. Visuals are excessive in a clearly Chinesey way, but this doesn't distract at all and truly fits with the setting perfectly. Detractors like to show their underwatted brains with complaints of pacing, confusion, etc. rather than using their heads. Confusion over the course of this show is purely user error. A Skill issue. A fault of a lifetime of having all exposition and relevant pieces forcefed from episode 1, chapter 1, minute 1 of the track, whatnot. Unknowns and frustrations are rewarding to sit through and ponder, not an en…

From the very first episode, it delivers a rich and mysterious world that feels both fascinating and unsettling. The blend of supernatural horror, Victorian-era aesthetics, intricate lore, and psychological suspense creates an atmosphere unlike almost anything else in anime. Every detail seems intentional, rewarding viewers who pay close attention and making each revelation feel earned. Visually, the series is stunning. The art direction captures the eerie, while the animation brings both quiet moments and intense confrontations to life with remarkable quality. The soundtrack and voice acting elevate every scene, adding emotional weight and tension exactly where they're needed. What truly sets Lord of Mysteries apart is its storytelling. The layered mysteries, interconnected plotlines, a…

Lord of the Mysteries is a good show and I recommend it, however, there are some "big" flaws that almost made me drop it, and I'll try to describe them below. The good : - The visuals are good looking, the animation is well done ( most of the time ) and you'll see some shots you don't see that often in animation. The art direction is also rather original and feels refreshing, it's common for chinese anime to have a different style and this one follows the rule. - The OST is also done nicely. There is a lot of music in this anime, not songs but rather music themes that enhance the scenes, it's another point that makes LOTM stand out. - The plot, the world building, and the lore are all ambitious and should keep you interested, especially during the last episodes... The bad : - B…

Praise The Fool! It was epic, I don't know how much of a opinion I can form, because this definitely felt like a set-up season rather than being everything Lord of Mysteries has to offer. It is in name the Isekai, Power Fantasy of China, the main character Klein resurrects in another universe, inside someones else's dead body. Tingen ( the city ) seems like a European Gothic city in the midst of an industrial revolution with people having supernatural powers, 22 different types of powers. Each having 9 sequences which you start at sequence 9 with potions. Klein abusing the opportunities that he's given and with special gifts he has tries to become a deity and even seems immortal? Yet he doesn't seem like a power freak, he's very careful and genuinely cares for other characters, that's…

Surcease covetous doss and rollick the probabilities within a coup d'œil of this virtuosic curio. First off, Art & Visuals; Above excellent! The fighting choreography's realistic pace when it's about weapons and throwing hands will make you rewind to watch again. The way they show magic, spells, alchemy, rituals and effects of powers is unique to each character based on abilities/affinities/credence/doctrine/dogma/sect/etc... and what they choose to do in the moment. Add to that realistic textures and colors that don't shy away from colorful set pieces and fantastical imagery, they raised the bar from start to finish. Perfect implementation of traditional art & 3D, it's seamless. Deucely; The lore, mythos and superstitious wisdom needed to write and fabricate such a story is beyond impec…

As a web novel reader, what I found amusing was the pace of the first few episodes. It was way too fast for many viewers to keep up, especially for the new ones. But after the first 3 episodes, the pace smoothened exceptionally well. The animation is gorgeous and it was refreshing to see faces of various lovable characters going about their lives. The story, as well as Klein as the MC, is interesting. The hero transmigrating to a new world has been done infinite times but, what separates them from this is the extra layer of world building and a unique set of power system. I won't say much here and totally recommend to all viewers, new and old ones to enjoy the show. With the strong source material, the subsequent adaptations of the novel will be fantastic as well.

Lord of the Mysteries presents a protagonist who is suddenly isekai’d from the modern world into a parallel universe overshadowed by a sinster crimson moon. The inspiration from Bloodborne is unmistakable. It features one of the most intricate and well-constructed power systems in fiction. The world feels vast and beautiful, yet also dark, unsettling, and gruesome. The most interesting part is the main character, Klein, who is completely different from typical isekai protagonists. Most isekai leads accept their situation as luck or divine destiny and simply adapt to their new life. Klein, however, is obsessed with understanding the logical and mystical mechanisms behind his transmigration and finding a way back to his original world. To achieve this, he must grow stronger while diving dee…

The anime is good, the animation is very detailed, the soundtrack is impeccable, and the story is engaging with an incredible protagonist. The anime focuses a lot on the protagonist's perspective, where we often follow his thoughts, also showing the development of the story. I believe that sometimes the anime doesn't make some things very clear in the story; if you don't pay close attention, you get lost. We had a small plot twist at the end that I wasn't expecting. Another positive thing is the relationship between the character Isaac and the protagonist; his development within the story is well-written.

Pacing. If the pacing had been handled properly, this could’ve been great. There was a lot of hype on social media about how massive the source material is and how unique the power system is. Maybe that’s true—but the anime didn’t manage to present it well. I found myself constantly Googling and watching YouTube explanations just to understand what was going on. Eventually, I stopped doing that and just followed the main story loosely. If the source material has too much content, cramming everything together and expecting viewers to keep up isn’t a good idea. That’s exactly what this felt like. It seemed tailored more for people already familiar with the world rather than anime-only watchers. Animation Honestly, very good. The animation quality and camera angles are strong. However, it…

It was such a pleasure to watch this donghua. The visuals are incredible. The animation can be a bit stiff at times, but the backgrounds are absolutely stunning - so beautiful, complex, and detailed. Victorian vibe lovers will be instantly mesmerized. I checked some of the negative reviews here, and all I could think was, "the kids these days…" ;) Is it really that hard to think a little, to stay engaged for more than a single TikTok? I hadn’t read the novel or seen anything about this series before watching, and I was hooked from episode 1. Condensing such a huge, well-built world into 13 episodes isn’t easy, but they pulled it off. For me, it was all quite easy to follow after the first 2-3 episodes. The dynamics, history, powers etc. are clear, and I’m in awe of the author for creatin…

I watched this from 16 Nov to 23 Nov 2025. There was a lot of hype around it, so I had to check it out. But honestly? It’s complicated. Very complicated. If you’re planning to watch it, I’d seriously suggest going to YouTube first and searching something like “Lord of the Mysteries – before watching this!” Just watch one explainer video. Otherwise, you might feel lost in the first few episodes and think the story is bad. It’s not bad. It’s just layered. Some parts feel inspired by different mythologies. There’s a lot going on. Secret groups. Hidden powers. Strange rituals. Even the main character doesn’t fully understand what’s happening around him at times. That’s actually part of the charm. It’s a proper mystery thriller. I liked it. Not perfect, but engaging enough to keep me watchi…

People call Lotm as the greatest piece of fiction ever. After watching the anime I was really impressed but I felt like the direction of the show was off. So I read the novel and I was genuinely shocked to see how brutally they had cut so many scenes from the novel just so that they can finish the first book in one season. Now that I think of it, it's really absurd that they adjusted the entire book 1 in just 13 episodes. This is why the pacing of the show feels too fast. I was really disappointed with the anime after reading the book and finding out that lotm was never supposed to be so fast moving. The lotm world is enormous and the power system is so detailed it feels surreal to think that a person can think to such an extent. Honestly speaking the anime should have been of 24 episodes,…

So I must say that while this anime WAS over hyped to be this GIANT masterpiece that it did fall short of it WASN'T by any means a bad series. It is a SLOW process from start to finish as it is a cultivation series & I think a lot of people will be turned off by this because its not instantaneous OP abilities. It takes time and understanding to grow in strength in Lord of Mysteries & while this is something I watched over the span of a couple of days I think I enjoyed the watch better this way instead of binging it because it really gave me time to digest all of the complexities the series was working with. I absolutely LOVED the dub for this series as well because it really sold the European adjacent setting that the series is placed in. If you are looking for a slower, more in depth se…

I'm anime-only but I finished the whole thing. It's compelling storytelling and I like it, but I'm not overly hyped. It's a good anime, but you need to make sure that you're paying attention. This isn't the typical easily digested Shonen or Isekai. This one has so many things going on, you can barely afford to blink. My one complaint is that a lot of exposition and information comes in text form instead of being fed organically as the story goes. (But perhaps they don't have enough time to go through everything that way.) Other than that, I like the victorian era-esque style. Battles are interesting. Animation is good. Art is pretty. Character designs are also nice. All in all, a good anime. But like I said, you need to pay attention. It's a serious watch.

I have still to encounter a good donghua, these shows producers think shiny images substitutes having a compelling story with good characters, as people say, doesn't matter how much you polish a turd, in the end it's still a turd. The 2D animation is super inconsistent, really stiff in dialogue scenes without any sign of character acting and the bad character desing doesn't help. The 3D bg stands out way too much in scenes that aren't covered in shadows, making the 2D characters look really out of place and whenever we have a tracking shot, the bg looks like miniatures. Action scenes are the only times the 2D team seems to be put to work, but they're still awkward, i also have no idea what the Nightmare power actually does in most fights sequences, are people sleep fighting? are they just…
