It was a good show, I don't have anything intellectual to say other than the pacing could have been better, i felt like the show was half backstories and inner monologues. I still really enjoyed it, but wish they cut out the backstories. It is not always necessary to have 5-10 mins dedicated to showing someones past. Through the actually story we should be able to make sense of someones character. The characters themselves were pretty well rounded already. But its still a good show, i think most people will enjoy watching it and its really beautiful. I'm grateful mappa didn't use heavy CGI. Just on the really ugly title card.

Story:
The plot is top-tier and the stakes are ridiculously high. People are dying left and right, and nobody feels safe, which keeps the tension super real and gets you completely hooked from start to finish.
Character Design & Art:
The character designs are soo much good! Every single person stands out with their own unique look, personality, and combat style. That said,
fair warning—they definitely sexualized quite a few of the characters especially some of the female designs, which can feel a bit unnecessary at times, even if the overall art style is stunning.
The MC: Gabimaru is such a great main character. Seeing a deadly, cold ninja who is secretly deeply loyal and soft for his wife makes his character so compelling and easy to root for.
Overall it worth to watch ......9/10

It wasn't until the world and its power system were introduced that I became invested. At first, it may be your ordinary shonen show, full of tropes regarding characters resembling of a broken hero, of an extreme moralist, etc. And to some extent, it still was that "tropey" show at the end. But its unique world, system, and mechanics is what may just make Hell's Paradise stand out a bit more than the others.
I think others will enjoy this series. Specifically, those who are into action and exploring power systems that are embedded in Chinese culture. What makes this show attractive is that the main characters are underdogs and the antagonists are so powerful that I even question whether the MCs can even survive. So it is in that essence of rooting for a character, which I know is in a di…

Even though the plot and everything else seem pretty classic for one of my favorite anime genres, I really enjoy watching series like this. It reminded me of Demon Slayer, and since I really liked Demon Slayer, I enjoyed this one too.
The artwork is quite beautiful, the battle scenes satisfied me, and especially the distinction between good and evil among the characters both the samurai and the criminals is very well done. As I said, it’s a truly magnificent production.
I can’t think of a single reason to deduct points. Maybe Sagiri’s behavior might have tempted me to deduct points, but she didn’t come across as overly off-putting, so I’m giving it a perfect score.

Hell's Paradise has an incredible premise, and I loved the mystery surrounding the island. Gabimaru and Sagiri are both well-written, likeable protagonists, and the supporting cast is equally enjoyable. The series is brutally violent and intense, which suits the story perfectly. However, it loses some momentum in the middle due to the frequent flashbacks and dream sequences. The large cast can also make the plot and pacing feel messy, while concepts like Tao are explained far more than necessary. Even so, the final two episodes were a real highlight, as the characters finally began to make a meaningful impact on the story and left me excited for what comes next.

Hell’s Paradise has an engaging premise, intriguing worldbuilding, and mysterious elements, but quickly glosses over these ideas in favor of shifting to a more standard shounen formula. Some aspects, like the compelling character motivations, wholesome flashbacks, and terrifying encounters persist, but this would have been more interesting if those previous concepts were explored further. Other areas, such as the cartoonishly evil cardboard cut-out criminals, the disposable side cast, and the rushed production left something to be desired. And fair warning, since this anime is sometimes excessive in its depictions. Overall, this has potential, but the initial introductory episodes peaked more curiosity than its later execution.

I will keep it simple. Watched two seasons. Typical shounen. Pointless battles between crazy retards. They fight left and right with whoever they meet. One bastard is sicker and more delusional than the other.
The story is not unique at all — it's extremely predictable and follows the most basic battle shounen template without any real surprises. The plot barely matters and feels like it's just there to set up the next fight. Characters gain power mid-battle by overcoming some struggles and other typical bullshit. Those with power use people as resources, just like in real life, but even that doesn't make the story feel smart or meaningful.
The characters are not well-rounded. They're mostly one-dimensional violent maniacs with almost no depth, believable development, or realistic reacti…

Hell's Paradise is a very colorful and visually captivating anime that contrasts its looks with a very grim world and some gruesome imagery, we follow the story of Gabimaru, a powerful man trained like a slave his whole life and capable of inhuman and capable feats, a hollow thing with no soul is what they first call him.
His entire adventure is very well done, in all aspects: Many characters with curious designs and interesting personalities, incredibly well-animated fights depicting everything from weapon skills to magics and hand-to-hand combat, beautiful visuals, and an intriguing story paced very quickly but skillfully.
You won't regret watching it! It is a very nice action/mistery mix.

I came into this anime expecting pure chaos… and yeah, I got chaos… but also feelings?? which honestly feels illegal.
First of all, the concept is simple but spicy: criminals go to a deadly island to find immortality. Sounds like a group project where everyone dies instead of doing the work. Beautiful.
The strongest thing about Jigokuraku is the vibe. It somehow mixes violence, philosophy, and “I miss my wife” energy in one blender. One second someone is getting turned into plant fertilizer, and the next second we’re talking about the meaning of life. Emotional damage + existential crisis combo.
Gabimaru as a main character is… interesting. At first he feels like your typical “emotionless edgy guy,” but slowly he opens up. Not in a dramatic way… more like Windows XP loading slowly. But…

Hell's Paradise does not have a long introduction, but a short one that manages to capture you from the very beginning. From the first episode, the world is established as brutal and completely unsafe. The island on which the action takes place is not just a beautiful setting, but a living organism, which seems to hide more than it needs to.
The story combines classic survival elements with heavier themes such as life, death or the meaning of life with deeper themes about life, death and meaning, each moment of the protagonists' expedition being a new step towards something unknown.
The characters are well built, each with their own beliefs and stories from the past. The dynamics of the three of them being different depending on the camp they are in (criminals or Samurai) but ultimately…

It keeps the action and clarity really well—I really liked that. The visual side was also amazing, I even fell in love with it. It left me almost speechless—it’s definitely not bad. I’d suggest watching more than half or even the whole thing, because only then you can really judge the story. I truly fell in love with it.
The whole story feels like you just start watching, and before you even realize it, you're already at the end. It doesn’t feel slow or dragged out at all—instead, everything flows naturally and keeps you interested the whole time. It really pulls you in, and because of that, it becomes very enjoyable and hard to stop watching.

Story & Characters: Hell's Paradise comes with an interesting premise that is ever so slightly unique - go to an island, find an item, survive and return home. That is exactly the situation that Gabimaru - along with ten others - find themselves in. All eleven of them go to the island known as Shinsekyo. It's here that an Elixir of Life, which apparently grants immortality, is located. The shogun overseeing these eleven convicts makes them a deal - return with the elixir and he will pardon the crimes of the one who brings it back.
While on the island, each convict is paired with a Yamada Asaemon, a powerful swordsman who basically act as their retainers. Each retainer has their own style of fighting and the eleven of them are ranked 1-12, based on their relative strength. Sagiri is the 12…

Hell’s Paradise is insane. Action, mystery, supernatural, dark fantasy—it’s all there and somehow works perfectly. The side characters are awesome and the story keeps you hooked. i guess you can say slight romance in the mix too. The suspense and tension is very good. i usually don't binge an anime like i did this. i watched both the seasons in 1 sitting i have never done that before. usually in most anime the main character is the most liked but i cant choose my favorite character out of 5 characters. that is how good the side characters and and the character development for all the characters are really good throughout the season it really shows. this is a must watch and if you want to ask me for more recommendations feel free to ask me. I'm very picky on my anime trust me on this.

While initially captivating with its visual aesthetic and grotesque representation, Hell's Paradise has several flaws that come to light quickly when you use even an ounce of critical thinking in-between. The first half excels at establishing a tense, survival-horror atmosphere and a peculiar pairing between Gabimaru and his executioner, Sagiri. However, several character…

Fun and extremely engaging to watch.
I started watching the anime after the announcement of the second season, which rekindled my interest in the work, mainly because I had already read the entire manga. Even so, the adaptation managed to captivate me from beginning to end. Being a production of Studio MAPPA, a high level of technical quality was expected. The studio has already demonstrated its competence in works like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, and here it was no different. The animation is well executed, with impactful action scenes and consistent direction. Even if at times the fluidity isn't absolutely flawless, this doesn't compromise the experience, especially since the true highlight of the work lies in its narrative approach.
The story presented in this first season is cap…

Been a while since I watched a good shonen and props to MAPPA for not churning out yet another oversaturated, cel shaded, bright garbage like AOT and CSM in terms of art style and animation.
there's nothing more to say except that it's better than most normie new gens like JJK, Demon slayer and CSM, there i said it, cry about it normies
and just to fulfill the required word count for this review, I gotta say MAPPA actually animated the fights well instead of using cheap plastic looking CG and the effects are also well done, as for the story the pacing in early episodes is slow but cranks up to 100 in the last five or so episodes

This review contains 4 major aspects: Characters, Plot, Art, and Impact which I’ll follow up on after with my overall conclusion. Hell’s Paradise is a great show about death row criminals being sent to an island called “Paradise” and searching for the elixir of life so the can be pardoned of their death sentence.
Characters
The protagonist Gabimaru is convicted of betraying his village as he expresses his desire to leave the village and refrain from further life as an assassin for the village, desiring a relaxed life with his wife. Gabimaru explores the island and through his encounters with others finds a more human side to himself in spite of his indifference to killing. Each criminal is assigned an overseer, for Gabimaru deuteragonist Asaemeon Sagiri is assigned to watch over him. Whi…

I love the series. very big fan, very excited for season two, but i do have some drawbacks.
I loved a lot of the fight scenes, i loved the premise, and i loved the relationship between the two mcs. it was nice to see a male and female character be friends and not have a romance forced on them, I feel like they are soulmates but not in the romantic sense. I see them as "blood-brothers" in a sense that they are meant to represent the opposite of each other, along with one another's weaknesses. I also loved how loyal the mc was to his wife.while many female characters came on to him, he never considered cheating and is very respectful to his wife. him and his lovers dynamic is something i could delve very deeply into, but that would take forever and this review is already way to long. The cha…

I liked the concepts used here, they are very appealing and have connections to real life concepts.
The visuals are great and the fighting scenes are well choreographed.
I did think that the characters felt a little bit shallow and the whole thing felt kinda rushed rushed, especially with the “learning” point near the end (I called it like that to avoid spoilers) but it’s to be expected from a 13 episode series, it’s well made and does a great job considering that.
Also the ending shows potential for what comes next.
I enjoyed it and recommend it, it’s short too so it doesn’t hurt to give it a try.
