Introduction
In a fantasy version of Europe, a war between enemy countries is brewing. One of these countries, Zhcted, has its seven regions ruled by War Maidens, known as Vanadis. Equipped with powerful dragon-carved weapons, Eleonora "Elen" Viltaria, one of the Vanadis, launches an invasion against their neighboring rival country of Brune. Eventually, Tigrevurmud "Tigre" Vorn, a young archer and an earl for Brune's region of Alsace, has his entire army decimated at Elen's hands. In a strange twist of events, Elen spares Tigre, and gives him the order, "Become mine!" What could be the meaning behind this new alliance?
Adapted from the light novel written by Tsukasa Kawaguchi, Madan no Ou to Vanadis is an epic adventure filled with complex war tactics and beautiful women. Trapped in a multinational conflict, Tigre and Elen are swept up in a war filled with dark secrets, conspiracies, and corruption.

It’s quite cliché, but at least the protagonist uses a bow and arrow.
Madan no Ou to Vanadis is the sort of anime that initially gives the impression it might take a path slightly different from the norm, but as the episodes progress, it increasingly reveals itself to be a generic fantasy, war, and harem series. The beginning manages to spark some curiosity, mainly due to the political situation and the context of the war between kingdoms, but that sense of novelty doesn't last as long as I would have liked.
The story follows a war between two kingdoms in which the protagonist, Tigrevurmud Vorn, is defeated and captured by the enemy. Instead of remaining a mere prisoner, he strikes a deal with Eleonora Viltaria, one of the Vanadis, or famous war maidens, and begins to aid her. From there…

An interesting start leads to a boring haremslop magical screamfest slog.
The first few episodes were intriguing, the next few episodes rewarded investment, then around episode 8 or 9, it flattened. Interesting characters, political setup, and motivations, squandered for a gaggle of horny-for-MC "battle maidens". A weird MC in a weird dilemma reduced to a does-nothing-wrong always-does-right cardboard cutout. Interesting potential for magical weapon use reduced to who screams loudest and has the biggest cleavage and most suggestive weapon.
I unenthusiastically finished it. Bummer.
To its credit, the little skirmish scenarios they developed were generally clever, though "and then the unexpected happened" can only happen so many times until it's expected.

Overview:
While I don't see myself as someone who believes in violence, the fantasy battle genre is one that I have always found myself enjoying. "Lord Marksman and Vanadis" is an anime that falls into the "warring nations" sub-section of the genre, and certainly makes an effort to distinguish itself from other shows of its kind, albeit in ways that aren't necessarily for the better. It's certainly worth a look, but it also has plenty of flaws that make it a far cry from essential viewing.
Story (6.5/10):
"Lord Marksman and Vanadis" is set in a pair of Europe-esque rival kingdoms known as Brune and Zhcted, the latter of which is home to seven highly powerful female warriors known as the titular Vanadis or war maidens. After the Brunish king falls ill, a power dispute begins between Brunis…

**Disguised Potential, Wasted Execution**
At first glance, this anime appears to hold great promise — a war-themed setting, strategic battles, and the label of a *seinen* series imply something mature, serious, and potentially thought-provoking. Unfortunately, once you begin watching, that promise quickly unravels into a shallow, frustrating mess.
The plot is incredibly underwhelming. What could have been a gripping narrative about conflict and tactics is reduced to a flimsy excuse for action scenes and fanservice. The story never builds momentum, and the stakes feel artificial. The motivations for war are so poorly constructed they border on parody, and any attempt at tactical complexity comes off as naive and ill-researched. The "strategy" is laughable at best, and at worst, insulting…

Nice fantasy-war themed anime.
How a count brings stability to a war-torn empire where higher-ups plot devious schemes to attain power is the short summary of this anime.
This anime has sort of Fate : Stay Night vibes but here the hero is pretty talented and intelligent.
My main issue with the anime is that it's very short and seems rushed. Also, only two to three female heroines are highlighted where we've around 7-10 heroine cast probably due to compressing the anime to mere 13 episodes. And the show creators left out the background story of those powerful weapons and powers that we see in the anime too.
As such, despite having potential, the anime is betrayed by its own producers who just wanted to mint money rather than portray the story true to its light novel source.😤

Ahhh... what a waste.
The show has a solid premise. A standard fantasy fare with a strong focus on powerful individuals and massive army warfare.
But execution? Terrible.
This anime feels like it omitted like 90% of its source material, because that's the only way it makes sense. Nothing is given enough time to develop on the screen. Characters are paper thin, lacking any real personality or motivations. Next to no backstory given on any of them. Each character is more meaningless than the other.
The story seems to revolve around a young count being drawn into a civil war as well as fighting off foreign invaders looking to take advantage, but we the viewers are given nothing to work with. No backstory, no explanations who all these different sides are and why they're fighting. Wars ju…

Recommendation: Must watch for fans of trashy fantasy action harem shows. Others can probably take or leave it, but it's action packed and doesn't take itself too seriously, so it can be a fun time for anyone.
This is a show that presents itself as garbage and delivers exactly that. Please understand that I don't mean that in a negative way at all. Not everything can be brilliant and deep and critically acclaimed. Sometimes you just want to watch waifus chop dragons in half with a big sword, you know? This is a show that's just fun to watch and isn't overly serious.
The thing that makes this series unique compared to other harem action fantasy garbage is a tactical map of the battles that pops up to explain what's happening at important moments. It seems like a small addition, but it mak…

It's hard to write a review from this one because there is not much to comment, is not a flawless show but a good show in general, not incredibly original but I quite enjoyed i.
Nice characters good sound a quite a good art for 2014, It's not a show that I'll put personally on must watch list but... if you have nothing to do give it a try. I have read that there is maybe a season 2 in 2021 since it was a promo for a product, and a lot of people liked the show in general.
One of this shows that even if I don't have any complains, is hard to praise... an enjoyable one nontheless.

Despite it's mediocrity, Madan no Ou to Vanadis is unarguably one of the best Ecchi shows I have ever seen due to it not showing an excess of fanservice. Though the fanservices are obviously over the top as that's how it works. I felt as if this show didn't really want us to focus on the fanservices and more to its mediocre story. Hence making it quite interesting and unique as most of the Ecchi shows I've seen always overload me with fanservice and it makes me feel disgusted.
There's only one way to improve this show - make season 2. The ending was unsatisfying and was a cliffhanger. Honestly, 13 episodes ain't gonna cut it lads. I need more until you actually end it well.
Overall Madan no Ou to Vanadis was pretty cool. I actually had fun watching 90% of the show ( 10% is the last epi…

Get ready for the most milk-toast, cliche harem anime you have ever seen. If you have seen 1 harem, you have seen this one. This anime is incredibly generic and predictable that it is painful. I'm only giving it 6's because objectively that is what it is. These characters are so bland and predictable that you will probably be able to guess what each character is going to say before they even say it. If you're in the mood to be bored, then watch this anime. If I were you, I'd just re-watch the York-New arc of Hunter x Hunter, because that is just Soooo much better. This anime isn't bad, though. If you are in the mood for that boring ecchi harem, then by all means this is a perfect choice. But I don't see why you would be in the mood for that, and there are way more entertaining ecchi harems…

Recently I found myself thinking back to shows I have seen in the past that took place in times of war. That left me wanting to see something similar again and I have to say Madan no Ou to Vanadis most certainly caught me a little off guard. Admittedly that is more than likely because I didn't bother to look at the genre tags. All I did was look at some of the pictures and glanced the synopsis
Given how it starts off I was expecting it to be exactly what I was looking for and while we do get that for sure, there is certainly some "Ecchi" and a whole lot more "Harem" throughout the short show.
I don't think that completely kills the show. It does still have some niceties about it, particularly in some of the characters themselves. Tigre himself might not seem like much at first glance but…

This show is a result of the Japanese having sub-par knowledge about European history and culture. If you want to watch for the ecchi or battle harem type stuff then there are better shows to watch out there.
Story:
The story in itself is piss poor and makes zero sense logically. If you ignore every aspect of the story that doesn't make any sense at all then you can probably find some enjoyment in it.
The gist of the story is a count that for some reason isn't acting like a count or have the skills required to be a count is taken prisoner and for some unexplainable reason is let live by his captors. After his county is attacked by a duke within his country for no good reason he sets out to defend his county by killing everyone that oppose him and allying with his captors.
There's als…

I don't like reading long reviews myself so I'll try to keep this review short and on the point.
Story: This is a harem/ecchi/fantasy anime that happens to revolve around war in a medieval setting. There are some nice action and fightscenes but if you expect something with a lot of strategy and thinking involved you are in the wrong anime, you should watch Kingdom if that's the case.
Art: The art is quiet nice and I believe above average for a harem show.
Sound: The sound is good too and fits the theme of the show.
Conflusion: If you want a good harem with magic and fantasy elements then go for it but if you want something more realistic and serious you will most likely be disappointed.

My brother recommended this to me and it didn’t disappoint. I loved the characters, their designs, and the world built for them to live in. I loved the “coed” nature of the show as no one is the damsel in distress needing to be saved by the hero every episode. The action is tense and generates real emotion from the viewer. I also enjoy the military strategy employed in the course of this series. One thing to note; i don’t think I could’ve watched this dubbed. It seems like a headache to listen to these names rather than read & hear them. My only real complaint is that there isn’t anymore. They clearly have more story to tell but 13 episodes is all we get.

I actually enjoying this anime anime a lot. It is not exactly special, and it ends a bit inconclusively (it is almost as if there was supposed to be a second season), but somehow it reminded me of Spice And Wolf (although Spice and Wolf was better), and I found it to be a bit calm and relaxing. However, due to fairly high body count in battles, blood and occasional dismemberment, I'm not sure if that's what creators were trying to do.
Detailed breakdown below.
Story (6/10):
It is a one long storyline, speaking about a small kingdom and its ruler who is an archer of godly skill. One things go after another, and story follows the kingdom and characters go through series of battles and conflicts. Those battles and conflicts are portrayed indifferently, and the narrative often takes step bac…

With every genre there is a piece that serves as the marker for rock bottom. If people could say that your piece is worse than that, then you are the new rock bottom. I say this because when it comes to the harem genre, this show is that marker. Which sucks too because there was a lot, and I mean a lot, of potential here. So let's rip this apart piece by piece.
Story: 1
Yes, this is literally the worst part about it. A brief summary is that a count goes to war and is captured and now must ally with his capturers to save his homeland. The only reason that she agrees is because she likes him. Yea, digging deep for motives there. The bigger picture of the whole war he starts to save his people is so that he can reveal the villian, which is a duke in the kingdom his homeland is also apart of,…

I will try to be as unbiased as possible considering I already read the light novel which is much better than the anime. The story is okay although a person who has not read the light novel will be confused. There are many subtle hints of whats really going on, especially the true agenda of Duke Ganelon and Duke Thernadier. The art is fair and they did a good job of portraying the battle by switching to a narration of what is happening across the battlefield. I was confused by the what the Muozinel soldiers were doing in battle. They seemed to be waving their swords around and doing a really weird dance. I just put it down as them taunting Tigre and Mila. The music and sound is okay since they weren't outstanding or anything like that. I do like the characters and how they interact but the…

FULL DISCLOSURE: I have not read the manga/light novel for this.
Based on the MAL average scores I was hoping for a more. I like fantasy-action-ecchi-harems as much as anyone else, so I see anything above a 6 and I'll give it a shot. However, I also like my shows with some humor.
ANIMATION + ART:
The art itself is standard fare for the genre. Nice scenes and backgrounds, standard hotties, etc. The character designs are good, but not the best in the genre. I particularly like the building and city designs.
The overall animation is 'meh' though, with some of the battles entirely replaced with little chess sets showing the strategies. This wouldn't be a bad thing on its own, but the fact that the actual battles are shown mostly using this method makes them underwhelming. Other battle scen…

Story:
The story won't be anything new; it's your typical powerful main character surrounded by other women that fight alongside him. Unfortunately, it also doesn't have a new thing that stands out that would cause one to desire to watch the series, unless you're into that certain trope. The story was predictable if you've seen anime similar to this. The ending of the anime was a bit sudden as well and it didn't give the audience much time to realize that it ended. The "final boss" of the series was also kinda lackluster, in my opinion.
Art:
The art was very nice. The color palette for the characters were quite nice on the eyes and if CGI was used, it was hardly noticeable. I especially like the character designs.
Character:
The characters were alright; they follow many of the trope…

It's quite hard for me to explain the plot for the series. I kindly recommend you for reading the plot in MAL, but still, I'll try to make a short explanation regarded this series. It happens on the time when war settles everything, the territory, ownership, status, wealth, and so on. Based in Europe, divided into five kingdoms which the hero and heroines come from Brune and Zchted, two kingdoms famous for its wealth. The hero is, Vorn Tigrevurmud, a skillful archer rules Brune kingdom got caught up in a circumstance which makes him a captive of Zchted kingdom under~the heroine~surveillance named Eleonora Viltaria who is a Vanadis. As the story goes, the hero and heroine form a sensible contract, between the name of Brune and Zchted prosperity and the story of war among countries starts.…
