This was definitely one of the best pilots I've ever seen in anime. Nothing has ever hooked me as violently and unsuspectingly as Oshi No Ko. Seriously, I think during the pilot I was kind of brain off; I'd heard so many offhand, negative comments about the show already, so I wasn't expecting anything and was actively cynical towards its premise. But you know, the animation was great, and the characters weren't overtly gaudy or annoying, so I wasn't upset to be watching. Then, before I knew it, I had been thrust into a deep pit full of emotionally charged characters sprung by a profound mystery, it was just so interesting, I couldn't stop watching.
To be honest, because of that, I ended up binging the whole show from seasons 1-3 in only a few days. So, I can't really review season 1 all t…

An Absolute Must-Watch: The Anime Elevates the Manga
Oshi no Ko is genuinely one of my all-time favorite anime.
I actually read the manga for this series, but the anime adaptation is on a completely different level of quality. Everything from the animation and soundtracks to the openings, endings, and voice acting is absolutely incredible. The production value is just insane and truly elevates the source material.
I will admit that the story kind of loses its legendary status and emotional impact towards the very end, but despite that, I still absolutely loved my time with it. The adaptation brings so much life to the characters and the world that, in my opinion, the anime is definitely better than the manga. It is an absolute must-watch!

(Originally written on 2025/03/22, one day after I finished watching this season)
Overall, it was a fantastic experience at every step - I really wasn't sure if they would be able to match my expectations for the rest of the season after just how incredible Episode 1 was, but they definitely delivered.
ARTSTYLE / DESIGNS / ANIMATION / CINEMATOGRAPHY - OVERVIEW
- I'm putting them all in one category at the beginning, because they were all tied to one another and they were all equally incredible; without one another, the whole experience would not be the same. I'm not exaggerating when I say that all of those were some of the best I've seen across all anime I've watched so far.
ARTSTYLE
- It honestly felt otherworldly with how it was presented; many environments and characters may have…

This review covers the first 3 seasons.
This is a very bizarre show that is generally well produced in its moment-to-moment scenes, but has a lot of serious structural problems. Ostensibly a series focusing on showbiz, Oshi No Ko spreads itself out like a tangled octopus and tries to do *every* showbiz take during its runtime. Then as if this wasn't enough, it spreads its tentacles further and tries to dabble in every major genre of anime that exists:
1) Entertainment industry drama: idols, actors, agencies, etc. is the core setting. It's often depicted in mundane terms as just a high-intensity job.
2) Idol industry critique: Fan parasociality, purity expectations, scandals, and exloitation all receive focus for criticism at some point.
3) Love triangle: Between Aqua, Akane, and Kana.

Imagine your friend tells you this: "Look, watch this anime; it's an action anime with great animation and some of the best character development in just 12 episodes." You listen to your friend and watch it, then you realize—it's a slice-of-life, harem, ecchi, romance anime with almost zero character development. You feel betrayed and baited. In Oshi No Ko season 1's case, the first episode sets the dark revenge plot very well, so you think this will be a dark mystery revenge anime, right? After episode 1, everything falls apart. This anime randomly becomes a weird slice-of-life/drama/romance, which is also not done well. This anime has one of the worst, maybe the worst protagonist, Aqua, who, instead of making progress in his revenge, gets stuck in a love triangle and does random unnecess…

Wow! Honestly, it has been such an incredibly long time since I have felt this exact way about an anime series. It is truly one of the absolute best television shows that I have ever watched in my entire life, and I completely love it! It simply made me cry real tears of pure joy and overwhelming emotion. I really appreciate how every single character has their own unique sparkle and shines in their own very special way. To be completely honest with you, I was feeling terribly stressed out recently, but watching this beautiful anime finally made me feel true happiness all over again.

Well, Overall, I find the anime a true Seinen Masterpiece. Full of funny moments, perfect for memes, but on the other hand, it's a psychologically intense anime that only adults may understand.
From the very first episode — that insane 90-minute premiere — this show grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. I ended up binge-watching the entire Season 1 in just one day and immediately started Season 2 right after. Ai Hoshino and her world of idols look all sparkly and cute on the surface, but underneath it's a brutal takedown of the entertainment industry: the lies, the pressure, the stalkers, the fake smiles everyone wears like armor. The reincarnation twist with the twins (Aqua and Ruby) is wild, but it works perfectly. These aren't your average kid protagonists; they've got adult minds…

Oshi no Ko is a one of a kind anime, it deeply shows the dark side of the show business not only of Japan but everywhere. The 90min first episode got me hooked really fast. For me personally, i sense fast wheter i love, like or dislike an anime and Oshi no Ko just jumped on my top 5 in an instant. The characters really feel real, their emotions, their actions and their wording. It is really interesting to follow their story and see how they develop, it is a absolute blast with 0 fillers whatsoever, there is no conversation, no frame that is not important. It looks incredibly good and ever frame of every season so far could be a wallpaper, it is drama packed, intense with emotions and has a thrilled like plot with good timed little comedy (i usually hate any comedy in animes so thats a real…

This is probably late in the game as I'm writing this review after a rewatch of Season 1. But, the reason why I watched Season 1 is to refresh my memory on the series. I read the manga and finished the series under two years ago; so, rewatcing Season 1 puts a smile on my face to see the characters again. I still cried in the first episode of Season 1 and smiled widely at episode 11 (that wonderful finale). But, the anime has outdone inself it terms of music, animation, soundtrack, and voice acting. If I were an anime-only watching Season 1 for the first time, I would recommend this series multiple times to long-time anime viewers for the production quality of the show as well as its message. The message is basically the pressure of the entertainment industry to its hired talent. And, of co…

The anime start in a calm start that makes you think "Alright, where is this heading?" Then as one scene flows into another, you find yourself captivated. It has subplots that are interesting as you try to figure out the mystery behind the main plot. It is perfectly balanced for me. Found myself crying and laughing along, feeling inspired as well. The songs within the show, the ending and the opening are very memorable, especially the opening. The art style is aesthetically pleasing. The animation is perfect and doesn't feel awkward or choppy. I see myself for sure reading the source and keeping up with it till the end.

At the beginning I was drowning in boredom - the prologue sets important foundations, on which the series then partially builds and comes with emotional moments, but I didn't like it at all and had to struggle with it, but to my surprise, the plot suddenly started to be entertaining in about the third/fourth episode and I happily finished watching the rest of the series. The series sets up various themes from the world of TV stars, sometimes it comes with a more realistic reflection of reality, sometimes it jumps more into a fantasy "pink" world, but it presents both sides with grace, while emphasizing characters that you quickly like and who give the story character. I wouldn't expect to write this despite the weak beginning, but I'm looking forward to where these star children will take…

This anime's theme differs from animes that came out recently. I'm not gonna get into details of story u can get it from summary etc. Anime points the issues and the bad sides of celebrity sectors(idols, actors, singers). I know we know what the famous people go through and that doesnt seem much, but anime reflecting this good and u gonna get emotional for sure.
And there is not any annoying ass characters in there so you can watch it without going mad. So watch it, its emotional and dramatic at some parts, but mostly slice of life that u can watch while chilling. And drama is not boring too, its not some annoying teen relationship issues(it has it somehow but not as the main theme).
In the end its good anime you can watch if you dont want to be annoyed while watching something.

Before I dive into the anime itself, it’s important to acknowledge the studio behind this gem. Until now, they had never scored above 8.0 on any of their productions and were mostly known for small, 12-episode series with 7.5 rating. With Oshi no Ko, however, they took a bold leap into uncharted territory and delivered what can only be described as an absolute masterpiece.
First episode immediately sets the tone, daring 90-minute opener that grabs your attention with its storytelling and cinematic quality. Voice cast is particularly interesting, instead of relying solely on top-tier seiyuu, the studio chose a diverse group mostly known for supporting roles. This decision surprisingly works in the animes favor, bringing a fresh and natural feel that avoids the usual conection to characters…

I had some preconceptions and assumed this show was just an idol show for weirdos, but I found myself fully engrossed in every episode.
The reason for my initial distaste was simple: Oshi No Ko begins with a pregnant 16-year-old idol going to a middle-aged gynecologist who happens to be a diehard fan of hers, and who gave the impression that he'd love to date her. However, instead of helping to deliver the idol's twin babies, he ends up being reborn as one of her two children. It seemed like something out of a poorly written fan fiction, and aspects of the main character's thoughts were off-putting to me.
Luckily, my worries were mostly unfounded, as I found the show entirely captivating and well written throughout. Once the first episode wraps up, it became the story of two siblings: a…

I want to discuss the isekai genre.
This review contains minor spoilers.
There are numerous isekai anime, such as Oshi no Ko and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. However, for many anime, the isekai premise is merely a narrative device to grant characters supernatural abilities, like self-awareness or sharp wit. For example, in Oshi no Ko, no explanation is provided for why the characters are reborn as Ai’s children, despite dying at different times and places. The show glosses over this, which feels unsatisfying and unreasonable. Even though isekai might not be the main focus of the show it's like forgeting their identity and being and starting all over again which i wonder why make it a reborn thing in the first place.
It’s frustrating how quickly some characters undergo drastic…

I was stunned by the end of the 1st episode. Its almost as if all the promo videos of the anime I had seen were a lie and I found it difficult to understand how the story would progress given what happened in the end of 1st episode. At the same time 1st episode was the best episode in season One for that "Game of Thrones" level plot twist.
Entire anime is anime does an excellent job into giving us a glimpse into the entertainment industry in Japan. The show reminded me of the classic anime Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon. Opening and ending credits are good.

I have so much to say about this anime...
I guess the best way I can describe, it in brief; it is an instant cult classic.
But to elaborate, it has an absolutely ridiculous premise, unapologetically genre jumping several times throughout episodes. Goes from annoyingly cute to insanely dark and back again. You'll sit there going, "What the hell am I watching rn?" You will laugh at the stupidity of the plot one moment and then cry at the heartbreaking emotional turmoil the next.
It is hilarious to me how the writers will tear through mediocre story progression and plot structure while somehow simultaneously pulling off pitch perfect motif design and social commentary on the music and art industry. Like, as illogical and unbelievable as some of the dialogue and logic is, the setup and mean…

Personally I don't care about idol and showbiz they're just ordinary singers, I don't know why they call them that (Like hey they're idols but in a different sense).
As for the anime I only watched it because someone recommended me a manga that was just coming out in CZ otherwise I wouldn't have watched this. And I have to say that the manga surprised me and this isn't bad either, but personally it's not something I'm interested in, since anime about idols is mainly about singing, dancing and I'm not into that kind of stuff and I'm not interested in showbiz in general.
So I give it a 4/10, which might be a shame for some people, but from the beginning it didn't grab me strongly (manga or anime) or excite me to eagerly await what happens next. As for the rest, the animation was nice (what…

Let’s get one thing straight: Episode 1 of Oshi no Ko is a banger. It had shock value, emotional weight, and a storyline that grabbed you by the throat. For 90 minutes, I thought I was about to witness something truly great.
Then the rest of the season happened—and it was an absolute trainwreck.
Everything after the premiere is a frustrating mess. The characters are hollow shells, written with all the depth of a kiddie pool. Aqua turns into a brooding edge-lord with zero charisma or consistency. Ruby’s entire existence in the plot feels like filler, and the side characters—Kana, Akane, the entire supporting cast—range from forgettable to downright annoying.
The story nosedives into a dull idol industry soap opera, packed with melodrama and cringe-inducing attempts at “dark” themes that…
