It's just dumb. Really really really really dumb.
But it's super super dumb fun!
This show is ridiculous from start to finish, there's no end to its madness. There's so much dumb stuff I can't even begin to list it. But almost every episode made me laugh.
Nokotan is just stupid, one of the most stupid characters ever. But she's hilarious. Koshitan is great, generic tsundere but she's so ridiculously over the top that it's hilarious. And basically everyone being against her in the show despite loving her is just glod entertainment.
There are some stupidly funny animations, some hilarious bits of voice acting (and singing) and tons of fun moments.
If you go in to this with any seriousness, you probably will dislike it. But if you go in just for shits and giggles, I bet you'll love it.

Absolute brainrot, Notsu!
This anime was dumb but entertaining. Nothing makes sense but the show knows nothing make sense and leans into it by breaking the fourth wall and doesn't take itself too seriously. What is there to say? It's an anime about a deer-girl and a high school girl making a deer club and getting into some weird antics with some parts that defy the laws of physics and make their town seem as if its in another dimension of its own. Most side characters were nothing special and that isn't to say they were bad, they just didn't appear much as much as those three student council characters, but whenever they did appear they were entertaining.
If you want to watch something light hearted and funny to pass the time then yea you should watch this.

In terms of comedy anime, Shikanoko nokonoko koahitantan is easily one of the best ones that have been created. Not only has a lot of references to other pop culture things but it's well animated and it have an unique personality. Thus, some clichés are also criticised with a humorous vision and the animation is very nice.
Also the main characters have nice writing, is not a serious anime, it isn't a seinen or a difficult anime, it's only made to have a good time so you are not going to take it seriously.
It's really worth it to watch, if you like comedy anime, pop culture references, cliché criticism and some goofy stuff, this is definitely for you

It’s crazy how this anime was popular in the first place, it is so painfully unfunny because it relies too much on randomness and the jokes felt repetitive. I know it’s a brain rot anime, but that doesn’t excuse how atrocious the writing and its jokes are. The voice acting are annoying asf, it gives me so much rage to hear the characters’ voices, might be just as bad as listening to vocamid 💔. Also the pacing is way to fast, I can barely tell wtf is happening at some points. This show tries so hard to prioritize enjoyability over writing yet fail MISERABLY at both 💔.

Some of these other reviews are taking My Deer Friend Nokotan way too seriously. It’s not serious. It’s a gag anime, don’t get all freaked out when the plot is just the main character being weird. For what it is, it really isn’t that bad.
When this anime first came out, I thought it was just going to be some weird plotless high-schooler story. And after finally watching it, I can confirm that it is exactly that. There is no real “plot”, the jokes range from strange to confusing, and it follows the basic high-school girl tropes. But it does so in the best way possible. I can’t think of a single time where I was bored watching it. The show knows that it isn’t some life-changing story, but it plays to its strengths.
My Deer Friend Nokotan has a lot going for it. Each episode is around rou…

So stupid, yet so much fun — it gave me some really good laughs. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it this much; it honestly surprised me.
The highlights of the anime are definitely its dumb, simple comedy and its characters. Shikanoko is absolutely brilliant, and all the other characters are also great, each with their own unique and funny personalities.
I think people should appreciate anime like this more instead of all those generic Isekai or Shounen shows. Lately, I much prefer watching a silly, nonsensical anime with its own identity rather than yet another fighting anime that’s the same as a hundred others.
LONG LIVE THE DEER GODDESS SHIKANOKO! 🦌✨

Heading into deer hunting season, "My Deer Friend Nokotan" is the perfect watch. Putting that aside, this show hooks you in with all of the meme-potential content, but then doesn't really have anything else to provide. Just like the deer crackers the show is so fond of, all of the events that happen in the show just seem like empty calories.
For the best and for the worst, this show is very free-form in it's writing. Events happen with no reasoning and 4th wall breaks can happen whenever the writers feel like it. Unfortunately, the only character development that occurs to any character is the side character Bashame and her rice story arc. After character introductions, no other character gains or loses anything throughout the series.
This show is very much a manzai with Koshi being the…

I watched this to completion so I could provide a review after seeing all episodes.
Premise: Noko gets helped by Koshi and tells Koshi she knows about her past history of being a delinquent. In an effort to conceal her past, she decides to be nice to Noko. Noko then guilt trips Koshi into forming the deer club with Noko, a club centered around taking care of Noko. Antics ensue.
The premise is actually pretty good for a comedy and the first episode set-up isn't so bad. It's funny that Noko created a club called "Deer Club" but is just an excuse for Koshi to basically be Noko's caregiver. There's also hints that Koshi might ruin her image or record if she fails to do so since she is the president, which keeps the comedy going as Koshi feels obligated to clean up after Noko.
It's a clas…

It's genuinely bizarre yet pretty funny having the VAs of both Hatsune Miku and Mafuyu Asahina talk about becoming deer. This is just one of the least ridiculous things to happen in this series that's all about ridiculousness. There is no pacing to this. Just chaos. Pure, untamed chaos.
This is hard to recommend as a must watch. If logic and deep stories, or heck even a solid storyline, are thrown right out the window, then it's a great series, cuz this is basically brainrot but anime and really well done at that. If not, then their absence is very jarringly evident, to the point of it becoming unwatchable. It being a slice of life type anime does make it prone to that, but given how the episodes are kinda divided into two parts, this more so feels like a compilation of short unrelated cl…

Will you like this?
if you liked Osomatsu-san, Ueno-san, Nichijou, Danshi Koukosei, Chiyo-chan, Grand Blue...
it's very unlikely you will like this.
Good
- Premise focusing on an animal and its ecological, zoological aspects
- Visuals are consistent in their quality, with exceptions such as in episode 8
- Novelty interest in the use of photogrammetrized (?) super-realistic 3D models alongside 2D illustrations
- Novelty interest in superimposing 2D illustrations on unmodified photographs
- Opening and Ending themes Bad
- Premise is not explored with the quality it frankly needed
- Koshi is, on paper, a Mary Sue, but in effect, she is not even the protagonist, she's an agency-less punching bag made to suffer abuse and violence from those around her, and moreover in an disinteresting way
- N…

I remember the day so clearly when seemingly everyone everywhere online was talking about this anime and how 'brainrot' it was. Many months later, I remembered this anime and how the entire internet was hyping it up to be this amazing masterpiece of a comedy.
And so I watched it, and... was left pretty disappointed. Had to take a long break after five episodes, and literally forced myself to watch the rest just to get it over with.
There are many things Shikanoko does that are just subjectively done bad, but the biggest by far was the comedy.
Shikanoko is an anime where it's comedy is partially derived from 'the crazier it is, the funnier it will be,' which leads to some of the most bizarre 'stories' (if you could even call them that) you can ever witness. However, most of the time they…

I initially dropped this at 3 episodes, then tried again and dropped again at 5 episodes, and finally forced myself to finish this a year later just so I could contribute to the rating of this going down without any lingering doubt in my mind as to the quality of the later episodes. This was the most overhyped, underwhelming anime I have ever watched. I thought it was stupid and cringy from the beginning in the way that corny movie trailers are with inappropriately placed jokes contrasted with action sequences. How are people able to critique those but still think this is good? Anyway, a large percentage of the population seems to have (at last) come to the same conclusion that this show just purely sucks, so my faith in humanity has been restored a little. And STOP with the deer puns, the…

I unironically recommend this if you generally like anime. But, only about 3-4 eps, and if you still find it funny afterwards, your humor is really cooked but feel free to continue watching.
This was the most stupid and pointless anime I've watched, and I've watched one called Merman in my bathtub so it really isn't an understatement. This anime feels like starting a bag of chips that got really hyped up all over the internet, and you realize it's not really that good but you still keep reaching in and in because you hope it'll get better, but it really won't, and when you finally finish it you don't know how to feel like, it feels like you've wasted your time but you don't really regret it because it still filled you up, somehow.
All that aside, the animation and details in this are real…

Honestly this anime fell off very badly. Idk if it was the creator who was trying to make a comedy anime as the same level as Nichijou or Azumanga or it was the community thinking this would be the new era of comedy anime. This anime was definitely far from being Nichijou or Azumanga as the jokes feel bland and somewhat beginning to become unfunny. Back then when it was released it was really hyped as the jokes were random and funny, but after several episodes it started feeling bland. One good thing about this is their character which actually has character of its own with their own unique trait, especially Nokotan and Bashame. I tried so hard seeing the jokes funny and enjoying this anime but it wasn't that special. But still this anime is still worth watching but I wouldn't really say t…

I’m pretty sure this show made me dumber. I very much enjoyed it! I do feel after a certain point though it stopped being as funny, but the production value made up for it! The voice acting is very well done, and the animation and character designs are very cute and pretty to look out, and the CGI use was absolutely immaculate! However if you want “dying-laughing” humor, this might not be for you.

It hurts my heart to do this as this was my most anticipated anime of the year. I cannot in good faith recommend this show as for a comedy show it is not all too funny. A lot of the dialogue hardly made sense and the comedic moments (practically every moment) were lacking. Maybe I just didn't get it, a lot of the jokes didn't land and perhaps I am not the target audience for this brand of humor, but the show was so overwhelmingly brainrotting that I was unable to get into it. The general aesthetic and concept of the show is charming however that charm runs thin quick. The deer motif while "en-DEER-ing" (that wasn't funny) is not enough to support the show on its own. With a show of such little substance the comedy NEEDS to carry its weight and it simply doesn't leading to an underwhelming…

60-SECOND REVIEWS
The show labors under the delusion that "random = funny," which it often doesn't, at least not if the punchline is simply being random for random sake. But in a brainrot era, it makes sense. It's obvious this show was tailor-made to be shared in short clips on TikTok to go, "Wow, that show looks so crazy and random! I should check it out." Honestly, it probably worked, because this was one of the most talked about shows of the season--at least until everyone realized that it kinda sucks.
It makes for a handful of good memes, but while some gags work, most don't, and I imagine most people will stare stone-faced at their screens, waiting for one of the nonstop barrage of insane, loud things happening to actually be funny.
The best part is the OP. Just watch that for 5 h…

Take Azumanga Daioh or Luck Star and add the FLCL randomness. A refreshing break from all the Isekai and serious rom com high school stuff that is too serious. The character types are rather traditional for the setup, but they are well thought out and balance each other. The story revolves around regular anime high school stuff such as sports day etc, but the randomness they added is next level. A fair warning, a lot of the jokes are on behalf of anime stereotypes (like one punch man) so if you don't watch a lot of anime you miss a lot of the fun. The only downside is that certain jokes get a bit repetitive over time. Also character development is rather slow to non existent.
Nevertheless, a good show, totally worth watching.

This show is exactly what i needed in-between the hard hitting anime and the incredibly dissapointing ones. It's comedy. Just that. You don't have to think hard about anything. The show itself makes it clear since episode 1 that it won't take itself seriously and neither should you.
Now,since the show is so simple in it's essence , the question is but one:Is the comedy good? Does it land ? Yes, yes it does. Not everything, but close enough that it doesn't feel like you're dragging your feet towards the end.Im not sure how to categorize this sort of humour really... but if i had to choose one word it would be.... morbid? In a good way that is. The opening is also one of the best in recent years, and above all else, memorable and catchy. The worldplay in it is really tight as well. Also, using…

A personal 10/10! Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan hits differently, and for me, it was an absolute riot. I understand its specific brand of surreal humor might not click with everyone, but watching the chaos unfold around Noko, the enigmatic deer girl who's practically a deity, was pure gold. The story is utterly unique a former delinquent trying to maintain her image while dealing with an antlered force of nature. The vibrant, often bizarre art style perfectly complements the non stop gags. Characters thrive on exaggeration; Noko's unpredictable deer like antics and Torako's reactions are hilariously over the top, far from realistic but perfect for the comedy. The opening song? An absolute masterpiece and pure earworm fuel! If you love deer, senbei, and completely unhinged absurdist comedy…
