if anything happens to these two, i will kill myself. they're soooooo cute together and it might be kind of cheesy, but i eat that shit up with everything i got. if you like really pure romance with both characters being kind of flustered but fall deeply in love each other in the end, this is the one for you. it's almost pure fluff. there's also some side characters that i wasn't sure about at first, but i really liked everyone in the end.

Taisho Otome Fairy Tale tells a romance story rooted in healing, companionship, and quiet emotional recovery. Set during the Taishō era of Japan, the narrative blends historical atmosphere with a gentle love story that grows out of loneliness and unexpected kindness. Rather than relying on dramatic conflict, the series focuses on how two isolated individuals slowly rebuild a sense of warmth in each other’s lives. The story centers on Tamahiko Shima, the son of a wealthy and influential family. A tragic accident leaves Tamahiko with a permanent injury in one arm, destroying the expectations his family once placed on him as a potential successor. The Shima household values prestige, productivity, and reputation above personal wellbeing. After the accident, Tamahiko is treated as a burden rat…

When I first started watching Taisho Otome Fairy Tale, I expected something lighthearted and formulaic - a historical slice-of-life romance with the familiar "girl meets broken boy" narrative. By the end of episode 9, I was convinced this was a solid 7/10: sweet, comforting, but not particularly groundbreaking.
But I was wrong.
Episode 11 shifted everything - the tone, the emotional depth, the way the story touched me. And then came episode 12. The final scene left me still, overwhelmed, and quietly moved in a way that few anime have managed to do. That’s when I knew: this wasn’t just a pleasant show - it was something special. A firm 10/10.

This anime is the story set during the Taisho era of a young man named Shima Tamahiko and his fiancé, Tachibana Yuzuki. The anime begins with Tamahiko having lost everything and fallen into despair. However, thanks to Yuzuki he’s slowly able to regain his happiness, and more importantly he’s able to regain the strength of will to seek his own happiness and the happiness of others. Yuzuki was originally only someone that was forced into being with Tamashiko, but over time they form an incredibly powerful bond that withstands several major trials.
This anime is an adaptation of what is one of my favorite manga series. And although this anime is good in and of itself, compared to the anime I can’t help but be disappointed. The manga is five volumes long and this anime kind of adapts the enti…

After finishing the anime, I immediately read the manga and I can say that the manga has a more complete narration of the story and characters.
Firstly, the animation is fine, but in some scenes, the facial expressions are lacking. Secondly, the use of the song is very good. Thirdly, Tamahiko character development is good, but I wish Yuzuki character could be explored more deeply, such as being shown skeptical and sad when she first arrives at the Tamahiko family mansion so it doesn't make her feel like a one-dimensional character. The last things I liked is the development of love between tamahiko and yuzuki and how the author incorporated the historical genre in the form of culture and major events such as the Kanto Earthquake.
In the end, this is a good anime that you should watch, i…

This is such a heartwarming anime, and I'll kill if there isn't a 2nd season!!! So much to develope and conflit left (and since is from 2021 I have my hopes hell down *cry*)
Yuzu is so cute, positive and emotionally strong plus a good person that obviusly she is perfect for our pessimist Tamahiko. You-will-cry.
The year is taking place gives such a nice atmosphere to enjoy, with music, clothes, transport, the cowntry side... So perfect (and pls don't judge this era with nowdays eyes, because that's denial of history).
Definetely the romance anime that goes out of the nowdays ordinary (school and fantasy) and worth watching.
Only thing I would say is that if you are not into not completely closed endings maybe is not for you but it is still whatchable with a somehow closed ending... If…

❤️ A beautiful story that had pulled my heart strings and so will Yours! ❤️
if You are a big fan of slice-of-life and romance anime, this is the one.
Main Female character is of a petite build, but you can very quickly see her strength when the situation requires, the strength of her love, at first forced, but quickly changing into a true one is charming!
Main Male charter also shows interesting values which is a big plus, I like it that you can clearly see his character development with every episode till the very end.
The show also takes place a bit over 100 years ago and you can clearly see it's many charms. Most of the anime takes place in a nice countryside in the mountains. The lack of electronic screens and prevalence of books is very cool, and the tiny details like not making a l…

Looking for a romantic anime with a relaxed feel? I think this anime is the answer!
As the title suggests, this anime will be set in the Taisho era.
Honestly I'm a little confused about what to say about this anime, I know this anime is good, and it was recommended by me, but I have a hard time finding the right words to describe how good it is, and looking at the number of recommended reviews which is relatively small, while the score is quite high, maybe some of them feel the same way I do, it's hard to describe in words.
So I'll just give you a few key points, and hopefully this will help.
First, in terms of graphics, this anime has graphics that are not disappointing, and are very pleasing to the eye.
Second, it has a pretty good art style, the character details are not the best, bu…

Love carries the world through all pain.
That sentence alone is the primary takeaway from this show. You get to see the protagonist progress and change as the woman that is bought for him impacts his life and the life of those around her.
Many will get immediately worrisome at the age gap and odd start to this show, thinking of it as another loli/wish fulfillment show. This could not be further from the truth. A criticism that will be levied against this show inevitably involves the age gap, however, let us assume that the viewer, you, would be willing to give it a chance despite that.
What is found within this show is change. That a single person can shift the ideologies and beliefs of many through kindness and a diligent effort. The characters introduced in this show are introduced wi…

Ever had a knee jerk reaction just from a show's opening?
That's Taishou for me. A story about a sad boy being sad and the /manic pixie/ dream girl that "saves" him. I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. This genre was practically invited back then and it completely saturated the market back in the day. I guess Japan, like Disney, really is 20 years behind trends...
Now the catch here is that she's a granny. Nope, that's it. Think of the ideal grandma, the sweet one that does all the housework perfectly, makes the best food and can sew. Yeah, now place her in a childlike body and you have this show. Because heaven forbid we don't infantilize women. Sorta made worse by having the boy practically tower over her, I get that tall = handsome is most Otome stories but this just looks like a…

Wow just Wow. My gosh this was a masterpiece.
If you are looking for a feel good motivational anime this one is going to be right up your alley. The characters were amazing the MC’s growth through the 12 episodes was phenomenal and the heroine was just perfect. The art/animation was a straight up 10/10. The fact that this came out in 2021 and all the backgrounds were hand drawn and not a single bit of CG. The music was fantastic the op and the ed were great to listen to, I never once felt like skipping either one. It takes place in 1920’s Japan and well I am not going to give any more away cause I think its a must watch. No episode over stayed its welcome honestly a perfect 12 episode anime. I really want to read the manga for this one I need more of these two. 9/10

I do not generally like Romance animes because of the dramas involving triangulation ,manupulation and deception. instead of expressing their feelings they play mind games with each other. But for Taisho Otome it is not the case. The main girl is so good that she influences other's nature. Having seen the harsh world herself she is still kind to others, yet holds a special place in her heart for her (to be husband ).
The story is not very unique but is not a concept that you see frequently. A close one to this is my happy marriage.
The art style is decent. The MC and girl's height gap may seem uncomfortable but you can bypass it cus the age gap is around 2 years.
The characters are reletively idealistic while others are realistic. It is a story where characters are made for the convinenc…

What an incel fantasy... a pure maiden wife of some depressed man to save him...
First of all, I cant stand the "a girl too pure for this world" troupe, which is what the FL of this anime is. However, the story concept sounded very similar to my favorite webtoon (yes talking about Happily Ever Afterwards), which also had this troupe. So with that in mind, I decided to give this anime a chance. However Taisho Otome was not an exception like I had hoped.
First of all, the main couple has no chemistry - for good reason. They are two strangers thrown together through arranged marriage. FL was purchased to be a bride for ML, who was banished and currently living as a depressed shut in. FL appears as his savior, saying she feels sorry for him and takes care of him out of pity love. Thus the ve…

Now this is some goofy romance right here.
I am obsessed with the whole "arraigned partnership but it's okay because we end up falling super hard for each other but more importantly we become better people for it" trope, so when people started recommending this show to me I was in. And overall I do really enjoy this one. The art style is one of my favorite parts. It's so soft and simple and just makes you feel so cozy. And I love watching all these characters I kinda hate at the start grow and change into wonderful people. A part of me sees myself in Tamahiko; the way they depict disability and mental illness is very realistic. He believes he can't do a lot because everyone around him constantly thinks he can't do anything, so what's the point in continuing living? It's a very raw and pow…

One of my favourite. Everyone talks about AOT, demon slayer, jujutsu kaisen... But this one is too a masterpiece like them. It went all the way through my nerve and made my day. The plot is so good and heartwarming that it made me cry some of the time. There is no ntr, love triangle or harem. So the romance is pretty innocent and heartwarming. I love this anime very much. Really hoping that there will be a season 2 since there is further story in manga.
I think the rating of theis anime should be higher since there is very few romance anime with ntr(indirectly ntr). It is my humble request for season 2. Really looking forward to it.

The animation is pretty mediocre. No real flash to any of the scenes, character animation is just alright. Although the backgrounds are actually pretty solid. The characters are not all that impressive either, they're not shallow as a puddle, but they are not incredibly deep. The story has decent premise and leads to some fun hijinks, but that being said it's not too involved. The pacing is good for the most part, but the middle struggles a bit. Voice acting is pretty average. It's not lifeless, but it's also not at all impressive. The soundtrack is pretty good and the op/ed is also decent. Overall it's cute and I enjoyed it, but it felt a little dull. The voice acting plus the mediocre character animation just made the entire thing feel a little lifeless. I think that was really what held…

What a beautiful take on a beautiful romance story. Tomahiko was a product of his upbringing. He was miserable and dejected and completely unloved. He had been convinced that he didn't deserve to be loved. Although it was under terrible circumstances, he had his future wife sent to him. Yuzu is portrayed as a happy young lady, though the circumstances could easily not let her be.
I do think it's cliche that she's strong and happy for somebody who's not, but this was a nice way to handle it. The story progresses reasonably and nothing is left hanging and upon initial review, I don't find any plot holes or unfinished stories throughout the episodes.
The one thing that I do wish we saw was an actual verbalization by tomahiko that he loved Yuzu. It's obviously something that's well within r…

I'm not sure why the top featured review is a rant about female authors and calling this show an incel show but it's clearly just a romance anime. in short, nothing new or revolutionary. but it's also not the worst out there.
people aren't only liking this show because of who the author is. i have not read the manga and most of the time, i watch anime without even knowing who wrote it. that has nothing to do with it. but let's be real - if a man was the author of a manga with the premise of a young girl being sold as a bride to pay off debts, the content of the show would likely be a lot different. if we're generalising anyway, i'm sure you know what i mean. this anime is free of excessive fanservice and does not use overly-sexual humor as a crutch for romantic or sexual tension.

what to say, havent watched such a warm anime in a long time, just pure ancient romance which is enhanced by the songs sung by the characters within. The songs really makes the characters bonds more special and gives you a feeling thats hard to describe. The optimism of the female main character is so bubbly and positive that makes me jealous,i wish i had a wife like yuzuki. The plots are suprisingly simple but the show, the characters, the songs, makes you involved in such a way,you cant help but feel what the characters are feeling.I would give it more than 9 but less than 10 in rating.I guess it takes a certain kind of mentality to appreciate as much as i do but nonetheless its a worthwhile anime,WATCH IT! I AM A ROMANCE GEEEEK!!

Reading these reviews sure makes me sad about the state of our world. So much bitterness and anger, so much jaded cynicism and looking to attack others, that we can't even enjoy an anime such as this one without throwing around terms like Misogynistic, Predator, Lolicon, Female Fantasy, Male Fantasy, Feminazi, etc... It's ridiculous, man. Have we gotten to a point where we can't even watch what is basically a modern day studio Ghibli film without pulling the proverbial knives out?
This anime was a lovely anime about a teenager who was viciously abused emotionally by his family and outcasted for being soft, long before he was hurt in a car crash. It's about this boy finding hope in a girl (who is only 2-3 years his junior) who his father bought him to take care of him because he only has…
