The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2

Introduction

With another Wave happening in a week, Naofumi Iwatani and his party have no time to waste. However, when bat familiars raid Lurolona Village and the Wave countdown comes to a halt, the Four Cardinal Heroes reconvene with the queen, Mirelia Q Melromarc, for a quick briefing. The queen presumes that the odd occurrences are linked to the Spirit Tortoise—a threatening creature that has awakened from its slumber, back to cause havoc once again. A plan to put the Spirit Tortoise to rest is devised—but out of the four men, only the cursed Shield Hero agrees to help. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

You see this type of fall off pretty commonly sadly enough. Where the author genuinely has a great idea or gimmick that completely sets it apart from anything else you have seen and hits that specific idea out of the park…. At least until that idea comes to an end point or to a point where no progress can be made without solving it (think Goblin Slayer, Devil is a Part Timer, ARMSBS, and arguably even that time I was reincarnated as a slime). What happens if you were summoned to another world where you are supposed to be a hero but shunned and vilified for no reason of your own is a fantastic idea and storyline to follow and the writer did that idea justice with a first season I and a lot of others actually really like. But then now what? You have completed your MC’s character arc, the mai…

Well, I didn't enjoy this season as much as the first one. There was just so much happening that the story started feeling really mixed to me. It's like they kept throwing one thing after another into the plot and I was just sitting there thinking, wait, what is even happening now? 😂 It also felt like the story was moving without giving me enough time to actually get invested in what was going on. The first season had a much stronger feeling of progression, while this one sometimes felt like they just wanted to make a Season 2 and throw everything they had into it lol. There were still some good moments and I enjoyed seeing Naofumi and the others again, but overall it wasn't nearly as exciting for me. I really hope the next season gets back to what made the first season so good and give…

This season started great and right into a calamity, which is not so great. The planning phase was alright, the reveal was meh, the send off was inspiring, the battle wasn't that exciting but cool to see. The bit after on top of it was interesting, there was that one dumb bit but whatever, the inside was cool...sort off. I feel like it could have been better represented, kind of a mess, in the end they ended up being at the top??? After that silly sideshow there's a "locked" island escape, back to lvl 1 and we have to deal with looking at game like features again? Even if you're experimenting having the power to do that is ridiculous, but ultimately it meant nothing. what was even the point? After all he didn't have that much power? How lame. Well all in all it staved off boredness.

I’m going to rip the bandaid off on this one and say that this season was a MAJOR downgrade from the previous one. While I don’t think the first season was perfect by any means, it had its strengths, every single one of those was lost here. This season is split into two major plot points, the first plot point revolves around the revival of the giant Spirit Tortoise and Naofumi and an alliance of nations have to stop it. The second plot point is about the villain who revived the Tortoise, Kyo Ethnina escapes with energy from the Tortoise and the heroes chase him through to the other dimension where they are reset back to level 1 heroes. One of the biggest issues with this is that these two major plot points are given only 13 episodes in total leading the whole seasons pacing to feel compl…

"Side stepping into another world." As a standalone season, this one is a failure. It lacks both the momentum and intrigue of season 1. Why is that? 1. Lack of forward momentum. It seems the writers realized they needed to provide more backstory as filler. So, the season revolves around showing episodes teasing an encounter before back stepping and info dumping for many minutes at a time. This carries little to no intensity across most of the season. 2. All three new bad guys are not threatening. They actually all feel like filler, but without the fury inducing anxiety brought on by the antagonism in Season 1. Notice how much better the show is when it re-focuses on trying to fight the waves alongside the cardinal heroes. 3. Naofumi is now way too chill about everything new he encounters.…

When I first started The Rising of the Shield Hero, I was looking at the reviews of every season. I saw season one was considered the best, and that season two was considered the worst, even being called a disaster by multiple reviews. It didn't give me hope it would be good, but I like to see complete stories, so I decided to watch it. I'm sure it'll surprise many of you, but I actually seriously enjoyed this season. I definitely noticed a few animation errors, and the plot was a little rushed, but overall I really don't consider this a disaster. It was a good season, with a nice storyline, and features one of the best characters with the introduction of Kizuna. I'm certain fans of the light novel series were disappointed in this season since it was only 12 episodes (episode 13 being mo…

Everything that was great in season 1 becomes muddled in season 2. This season feels like an empty filler with unbalanced pacing. The show introduces new lore, characters, new problem and a new adventure. But all of these new aspects feel bland and uninteresting. They're all thrown out with lack of build up and it results in a poor storytelling. I can guarantee you that you will not remember any new characters introduced this season in season 3 or 4. Fillers can be fine if they can bring out interesting aspects of characters we already know in a refreshing or different way. We get none of that in this season. But despite all the negative criticism the show is still watchable. There are certain moments that work and if you like the core cast then you will still probably like it. But overall…

The season isn't actually bad. Yes, I said it. It just got the curse (shield) of being compared to the 1st season, that has set some high bars for it. The buildup and the conclusion of the first half are a bit less emotional for me personally, since I was comparing it with the light novel. However, the theme of betrayal and trust was very much present, making very much the same Shield Hero story. If you like the teary moments mixed in with high tensions, I'm sure you'll like it. There cast will grow larger since certain groups of characters will be introduced, and not everyone will get enough screen time, but with only 13 episodes to work with for all the story they wanted to tell, it's just how things would end up. It's probably the main reason why many people are dissatisfied with the sh…

- Mid season is as bad as filler from the second half of Naruto. - Not a single plot line in season 2 progressed the series's story, there was minimal character progress as well. - Magical beam 1 shot kills, evil bad guy that explains his entire plan. no body attacks the villain while he is standing around and chatting. - Random side characters hogging screen time. - Slide show animation. - Massive drop in quality from season 1 in art and story. - Isekai plot of saving the magical world devolves into a harem anime. - Season 2 is half the size of season 1 - To much corny hug box dialog between the female characters, it doesn't progress the plot or contribute to character development. - Villians get away with crime in this world. Commit espionage, terrorism, fraud and cause 100s of deaths, w…

The TL:DR if you want to watch the anime without being confused, you should read volume 6 of the light novel or read volume 12-13 of the manga. The season then goes on to cover volumes 7-9 of the LN and volumes 14-21. As should be clear, this is a lot of content for a 13 episode run, even with the skipped content. In reality, this is the main issue that the season suffers from, it is trying to fit what would have been another 25-episode season into a single cour season. That is why many people recommend watching after having read the manga or LN. Review: The second season of "The Rising of the Shield Hero" is a mess. For simplicities sake in discussion, it is often divided into two halves, the "rushed and incoherent" first part spanning from episodes 1 to 6, and the "actually kinda good"…

After the thrilling, emotionally intense journey that was The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 1, I went into Season 2 with high expectations. Season 1 delivered gripping conflict, an underdog narrative, betrayal, redemption arcs, and of course, the explosive rise of Naofumi from zero to hero. Season 2, however, took a noticeably different direction - one that may divide fans depending on what they valued most in the original. Season 2 focuses heavily on the Spirit Tortoise Arc, which introduces new lore elements, a broader world scope, and the concept of interdimensional threats. The story revolves around Naofumi and his party confronting the resurrection of the Spirit Tortoise, a creature with catastrophic power. Along the way, we’re introduced to Ost LaFane, a surprisingly well-written…

Bro dont watch this bosta, muito ruim pprt. Dont compensa! (copairriti só pra enviar o meu) Spoiler Free* There were some boring parts to it and I feel like some of it was rushed and underdeveloped, however, it's an overall enjoyable sequel if you're not the overly critical stuck up watcher. I wasn't a fan of Part 1 but it needed to be there, Part 2 was fairly entertaining even though the main antagonists were subpar, and Part 3 just felt like a little extra bit of fan service, could or could not be your cup of tea. It's not perfect in the slightest, but, it's nice to know what happened next after season 1 and the main cast developed pretty ...

Hindsight favors this season. The first time I watched it, it was a very heavy letdown; however, after watching it a second time, I find the season to be not as bad as I remember. I guess having the foreknowledge of what occurs later helps to lessen the perspective of it. Is it perfect? No series is perfect, but it's not unwatchable. Plot-wise: Having a more world-building is not that bad, and I think this season did a fair job balancing its more world building focus against the first season's more heavy thematics (which I find to be what truly distinguishes this series from most other isekai). Given how Naofumi was treated in the first season, having one honing in more on the world he is trying to protect is a good next direction. Antagonist: Uh... what was his name...? Ko? Kyo? He's a…

Well, this season was weaker then the last, but it's not as bad as people make it seem. The sudden focus on Rishia and people's irrational hatred of that character are both out of place . The one real upset is the animation. I really hoped they'd get a better budget this time around, since they did get to make a second third and forth season, but it seems they'll keep it mediocre all around sadly. Outside of the wierd change of focus for quite a while on Rishia the story isn't better or worse . It's maintained a streamlined quality . The unwaranted upset of the masses is akin to fearmongering . Maybe people expected the story to get better, not maintain the same quality, so their expectations were through the roof. But that's just me giving the benefit of the doubt to the mob. If you were…

I dont write reviews and usually I find deep, well written ones, so I will not attempt to do better than that, I will just be straight foward: this is not, even close, a good anime. The animation is ok, at beast. The fights? Forgetable. The best point: The world in wich the story is written is interesing, has some deep we can dig.. its fine, its good. The worst point: characters - none makes sense. Be aware, some of the worst conversations in your life. Characters that never grow, bad romances.. I just can't go on. I thought that, after 5 episodes from first season, this anime would bring something new to isekai... it didnt. The end.

It does not stand up to the first season, and I did not connect with the characters as much as I did the first season. The new characters were likable, but I wish we had more time with them. But it wasn't awful or anything. I found mild enjoyment while watching it, and the animation was about the same level with some moments that were great and consistent, and some(mainly the 3D animation) being just alright. Nothing too jarring. Basically, it was fun seeing the characters I already liked interacting with new characters and in new environments. And there were decent character developments as well. The second season was a bit lackluster, but it was not bad.

The second season of "Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari" is a disappointment for those who hoped for the continuation of an interesting and non—standard story. Instead of an exciting plot and character development, we got a boring cliched issekai, who adds another faceless harem to his piggy bank. If you are looking for something new and unusual in the issekai genre, then maybe you should look for something else. in the second season, it disappoints both fans of the original and casual viewers, turning into another default excision with a standard set of cliches and a boring plot. Let me explain in more detail why this series deserves a negative review. The first season of Heroes of the Shield offered an interesting premise where the main character Naofumi Iwatani is facing accusations of a cr…

Season 2 is predicably underwhelming, continuing to grow the loli harem of the shield hero while giving us a mediocre story, something I found irritating yet funny is how the new loli not only acknowledges that she's one, but also the type of loli she is (loli hag, apparently that's what child-looking adults are called in anime, you learn something new everyday when watching pedo-bait animes!). This season introduces a way for the adult-shaped loli to go back to her real form (a child) as well, this serves no purpose to the plot. Some really bad plot devices continue to be present, like Naofumi being able to find a way out of difficult challenges almost as if he knew the answer from the beginning, without struggle or challenge, he's also able to use OP abilities to overpower any challeng…

Story (5) : The story in season 2 has dropped drastically from the previous season. I like the environments in this anime like waves and others. But the execution is lacking. In season 1, he was bullied and then became strong, the execution was good. but because he is already respected, the way the story is executed is very bad. They introduce creatures or characters but something feels lacking. Characters (7) : This season there are new characters and they are not bad with what they represent. I said the villain was okay too, Kyo Ethnina was very egoistic and always lied to her subordinates and made lots of traps with her deep knowledge. I like that type of villain. Then the characters in season 1, L'arc, Therese, Glass, I also like their personalities in season 2 Visual (8) : The vi…

As I'm fairly sure I mentioned in my previous piece, Shield Hero has an identity problem. The show doesn't seem to know what to do with itself in the absence of Naofumi being unfairly slighted and oppressed by those around him. Matter of fact, the show starts by posing a problem the Cardinal Heroes need to solve and the 3 others straight up refuse to help for no good reason and walk away, almost as if it were written in their DNA that they just necessarily have to be assholes to make the story work. The saving grace is that other than a couple of throw-away lines a pop, they never show up as actual characters again for the rest of the season and don't have any speaking lines. I guess Bow Bro shows up in some flashbacks, but the point is Spear Bro is irrelevant as he should be. Also, I ju…
