The Unwanted Undead Adventurer

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer

Introduction

While exploring a labyrinth, Rentt Faina, an adventurer with lots of experience but little to show for it, is killed by a dragon upon discovering its lair. Shockingly, he wakes up to find himself turned into a skeleton, the lowest class of undead monsters. As Rentt fights against the other monsters of the labyrinth, he discovers that slaying them gains him experience towards higher stages of undead evolution—even ones with flesh! With this revelation in hand, Rentt obtains a new objective in his undeath: keep evolving in the hope of eventually becoming a vampire, the highest form of undead that is nearly indistinguishable from human beings. Despite being forced to hide his past identity and monstrous nature under an unremovable mask, Rentt manages to return to a semblance of his former life. Granted shelter by Lorraine Vivier, an elite researcher and retired adventurer, Rentt assumes her surname and starts over from scratch as a rookie. Determined to pursue his childhood dream and become a mithril-class adventurer, Rentt must be cautious not to disclose his new bodily circumstances, lest the adventurers’ guild seek to exterminate the monster he has become. Short review: If you like complex and grounded characters in a well built fantasy world, that's one of the best anime i've seen in a long time. A shame it's short. You might dislike it if you only want endless battles with OP MCs as most things coming out lately. Longer review: What I most liked, is how natural everything was put together in a well paced story. The world-building is fantastic with how mysterious every corner and concept is, the explanations were delivered in a natural way while the battle and powerscalling made some sense, instead of pulling a random "status screen" that gives XP. The cast is mostly beautiful females, what gives a little harem vibes, but the only true ship is really good (but sadly the MC seems as dense as it usually goes). Music and animation are on the…

An easy going anime with a subpar mix of animation and plot but will give you a smile from time to time and leaving you wanting to know how things will work out on the end. The set up for this anime is pretty intriguing, catches you in the first episode curious for whats to happen. The art and animation is pretty subpar seems like a budget friendly anime studio with plain character designs and enemies. No one really pops out of the screen but that being said it has its charm to it. More slow and tame that your drastic adventure anime. Day to day of being an undead adventure comes off more of a slice of life anime than anything. The main character realistically deals with ‘undead’ ordeal accordingly how any other person would, which comes off charming.

Feels like watching a mix type of anime about solo-leveling + frieren, but better than solo leveling and worse than frieren. Have potential and is worth watching if you don't want a godlike type of anime but don't want the mid/trash ones too. The pace is slow and 12 episodes is quite few for the story but good just for explaining the core of the story, at least for the protagonist. The design is better than very famous ones and impressed about how they manage to use the 3D graphics in some episodes without getting ugly or poorly made. This impress even so that this production don't put ecchi, gore or violence just to seek attention and just have it in some occasions where's hard not to put it, but have when need it, unlike other animes that don't put it at all just to be on kind of age li…

This show took an interesting idea & kicked it down a flight of stairs. Each time it hit its head on the way down it got slower & duller. It should have followed the plot it started to follow but abandoned. It would have been an interesting, kinda funny, (maybe-romance?) story about a guy who’s given a second chance to become stronger than he was before he became undead, facing challenges b/c of his new appearance, fighting alongside a newbie girl adventurer w/ a chip on her shoulder (presumably). Pretty similar to a lotta other shows, but the undead thing was interesting & it coulda been entertaining. Instead it turned into a mid story about an already overpowered low-rank guy talking over mundane crap with his researcher friend as he does side quests. It became as derivative as it coul…

This one was very good. The premise is nice were the mc has to struggle to fit in. While the mc is a bit flat in terms of being a classic hero. The story relationships and power progression more than make up for it. The action scenes are nice and the animation is as well. It has some slice of life elements without completely dragging out the story. Also there is power progression but the mc doesnt become a litteral god by episode 2 wich is always a plus. Overall I think most people would enjoy this anime and id recommend it.

Isekai slop to watch if you're a half-hearted ghoul. Mc dies and reincarnates as a skeleton. Initially it's lighthearted and tasteful with the plot moving along quickly. The animation is standard, never offensively bad and certainly entertaining to watch. The CGI is well-done and properly integrated so it is only rarely (perhaps in one or two scenes) a little jarring. Towards the second half of the season, the show loses the charm that made the first half so special. The show becomes generic, and, without the support of epic animations, a generic plot can not stand. It is not offensively bad, and the Isekai format is especially appealing to sensitive and passionate overweight-men like myself. So, I say The Unwanted Undead Adventurer is not-ghoulish-enough/10.

(Hood Review) I ain’t know what to expect going into this anime, but it turned out way better than I thought. Nothing about it jumps out at first glance, yet somehow it’s still fire. The story just felt fresh and different to me — I honestly never seen an anime like this before. Me personally, I’m a gamer, and if you’re heavy into video games, this anime gonna click for you. It really felt like a video game brought to life, almost like an RPG. Everything the main character was doing? That’s exactly what I wanted him to do. This ain’t no lighthearted, “power of friendship” type anime either. It keeps you guessing and makes you wanna binge it. You constantly thinking, “Aight, what he about to do next?” — and that’s without me spoiling anything. The music didn’t really stand out. The figh…

So the entire show is very generic with the typical I get stronger with more enemies I defeat. The only unique concept is the self evolution of going from a skeleton into a more humanoid form. While almost losing himself in the process of self evolution basically. Only two good characters in the show are the main leads. There is an annoying rat that's for some reason louder than the protagonist when he speaks. The rat makes loud noises that are a straight rip off or inspired sounds from Zelda breath of the Wild korok seeds. The only saving grace is the rat is only in two episodes max out of the twelve. Anyway it's a good show if you have nothing else to watch or don't want anything you have to fully commit to since it's quite short. I will say the ending song is quite elegant and really th…

Honestly, this anime had a really interesting start. It’s about a regular adventurer who dies in a dungeon and “comes back” as an undead. At first, I thought it was going to be dark, mysterious, or full of existential struggles — but after a few episodes, it turned out to be much calmer than I expected. I actually like Rentt as the main character. He’s not the usual overpowered MC, but he’s also not the weak type that makes you frustrated. He’s realistic, composed, and kind of sympathetic — which is rare for an undead 😂. But the pacing is slow; most of the story focuses on Rentt adapting to his new body, exploring dungeons, and interacting with people at the guild, especially Lorraine. Lorraine herself is one of the reasons the anime stays enjoyable. Their interactions are soft and slig…

Finally, a work that doesn't pretend to be the best anime ever made. It's essentially a fantasy Slice of Life, with good characterization and a linear, yet more than enjoyable, character development (no pathetic protagonist suddenly getting a power-up). It has a good visual impact, more than decent animation, a few missing points here and there , and even some original and interesting points. Even qualitatively excellent anime often struggle to keep me watching without interruptions. This is usually because works with high expectations and claims often fail to be 100% continuously engaging. The Unwanted Undead Adventurer however, manages to make you interested in its world, its characters, and the protagonist's thoughts. It's a little gem that you won't regret starting and leaves you s…

This anime is insanely underrated. I genuinely feel like there is not a single bad point about this anime that I can talk about, everything is 10 out of 10 and captured the plot magnificently for example the music which was bitter sweet and captured the feeling of a human who lost his humanity but still wants to be human , the animation amazingly fluid especially in fights , the main character is really likable and the story even has a touch of romance to it, the plot is unique and the evolutions of the main character gives a nice sense of mystery which kept me really entertained, absolutely a masterpiece. Genuinely peak it has my approval.

It had a promising start, but due to slow pacing, and some embarrassing/out of place fanservice it kinda fell flat in the end for me. Like, from the start it had a nice power progression of the main character, and the girl he meets didn't have a fanservice-y design. I was thinking there may be some cool adventures/progression, but it's mostly just side quests, and scenes with another woman who just has her breasts out all the time. Like, you'd think I'd be desensitized to this kinda stuff at this point, but it's just too ridiculous. Plot wise, I wouldn't mind a slower progression if it at least had some interesting characters/stories. It's mostly kinda tame, and stuctured as sort of feel good side stories. Some of the plot points are really wild though. At one point a character writes so…

Overview: YES. YES. YES. Give me this level of execution in an anime and you'll have a noted winner every time. Brilliant work. Things I liked: Basically everything. MC is absolutely likeable, but not in the "he's so pure, he doesn't know how good he is" way. He IS smart, he IS self-aware he ISN'T overpowered (for the most part) and you are non-stop cheering him on. The "sidekick" if you will is also very fun. They aren't (mostly) fawning over MC, they can stand on their own, they aren't an open book or predictable and they add to the story. Not a ton of accessory characters, which was a great choice, as this show is really about watching the MC grow as a character, but when they do play roles it'd enriching to the plot and not annoying at all. The plot is simply wonderful. I've seen so…

Cool little concept, lots of characters with distinct designs and looks, pretty badass looking main character and for the most part decent animation. Unique take on the design of the "dragon", it's not what comes to mind when someone describes the typical appearance of a dragon. Still unsure if I like it or not, but it's different for sure. It was a pretty fun watch, it's just that everything was sort of basic and there are so many animes that are similar (in the sense of the main character dying then coming back to life as something else.) I'll likely watch season 2, but the story itself seems very predictable and I'm 90% sure of the way it's going to end.

I have to admit, if it weren't for Solo Leveling I wouldn't watch this ever. I think I enjoyed Solo Leveling so much that I wanted more of it and this is one of the recommendations that I looked up, "The Unwanted Undead Adventurer". The story starts with Rentt the MC as a lvl 1 mafia that ended up discovering a lvl 1000 type dark souls boss. Unfortunately Rentt was easily defeated but wakes up as one of the "lowest class of undead monsters" which is a skeleton. I'm not going to lie, the story really starts so slow that I felt like passing out but I don't think the story is really that bad. Since you hopefully read the sypnosis, Lorraine Vivier helped Rentt to live rent-free literally. Lorraine's design is obviously for fan-service and I'll admit that that it helped me with at least havin…

Anime is very misleading. Like they show MC with a blond girl who actually, is NOT a main character in any way or form. So to cut corners: anime is great, however, there are some elements mixed into that ruints it (reason why I gave only an 8 and mixed feeling) The anime starts extremly well, better then many others I saw. Sadly, it just gets stuck. It's like you started an anime that you are sure it will be an amazing one, but, from drama, mystery, advanture, it just becomes a slice of life, sometimes they talk about the world, but that's it. Nothing deep. And this keep until a certain mouse character was introduce. You know... the mascot... something all children anime have..... Yep, this anime started as great, got stuck there, and became one for the whole family, slice of life... I…

People don't watch it because of the many negative reviews, and many stop watching it because they expect it to be just another ordinary anime about a man turning into a skeleton or monster, etc. But this show doesn’t stop there. While much anime about a man turning into a monster focus on them never being able to return to human form, this anime tells the story of a man trying to reclaim his humanity. We don’t see a stupidly overpowered protagonist becoming a god within 1-2 episodes. This show has real progress to tell, showing the struggle from zero to hero (and even by the finale, the main character is still not strong enough, which leaves room for a much-needed season 2). When you watch this, you're watching a slice-of-life isekai story. The progression might feel slow because it ca…

If you are looking for a dead man turned into a skeleton then this is the right anime for you. I swear i’ve read the manga version a few years ago and im surprised it comes from a light novel The story is kinda unique since its rare for an mc turned into a skeleton then turned into something more than a skeleton( i havent watch any skeleton anime besides Overlord so forgive me) I like the art style, my eyes likes it and it fits with the story so far anyways, im glad i get to watch this and cant wait for season 2, definitely 9/10 cuz of the ‘Plot’

Started out semi-interesting, but then the pacing took a nose dive and just became kind of a chore to get through after that. The action is pretty basic, the level detail in the characters and backgrounds too. The characters are lacking and so it the depth of the story. At least it had the common sense not to make it an isekai for no reason like every other anime of this genre. The pacing was insufferable after the first few episodes and really never recovered. The voice acting was pretty mid, not the worst, but really not very moving. The soundtrack was fine, but the scenes the tracks were used for were ill fitting and overall a bit cheesy. The op was alright, and I thought the ed was pretty good. Overall, I was a little disappointed by it all around. Immediately it was apparent that the…

Just came here to laugh at all the reviews talking about the anime feeling like a filler arc. People who complain about "filler arcs" in a show that isn't shonen to begin with should probably stop watching trash and fix their taste in shows. This is a proper fantasy anime that tells its own story. It doesn't care about shoveling action down your gullet in order to cater to the people who can't watch a tiktok without Subway Surfer on below it. It focuses on the story and characters. It has some action, but only as much as needed for the story. The characters act like actual people and not cardboard cutouts being used to push along someone's revenge fantasy.
