Waiting in the Summer

Waiting in the Summer

Introduction

While testing out his camera on a bridge one summer night, Kaito Kirishima sees a blue light streaking across the sky, only to be blown off the railing seconds later. Just before succumbing to unconsciousness, a hand reaches down to grab ahold of his own. Dazed and confused, Kaito wakes up the next morning wondering how he ended up back in his own room with no apparent injuries or any recollection of the night before. As he proceeds with his normal school life, Kaito and his friends discuss what to do with his camera, finally deciding to make a film with it over their upcoming summer break. Noticing that Kaito has an interest in the new upperclassmen Ichika Takatsuki, his friend Tetsurou Ishigaki decides to invite her, as well as her friend Remon Yamano, to join them in their movie project. In what becomes one of the most entertaining and exciting summers of their lives, Kaito and his friends find that their time spent together is not just about creating a film, but something much more meaningful that will force them to confront their true feelings and each other. Watched this show years ago, but yeah, my feelings about it are still the same. The romance never felt real, the story never felt particularly worthwhile, and most of the drama felt like unnecessary nonsense. Storyline: The characters constantly make decisions that could be resolved with about 30 seconds of honest communication, but instead everyone chooses the most illogical and dramatic route possible. A simple conversation becomes a crisis, the crisis becomes a misunderstanding, and the misunderstanding somehow turns into another romantic complication. At some point, you stop wondering what will happen next and start wondering why nobody owns a phone. The romance is another issue. The series throws multiple characters into a web of attraction, jealousy, rejection, and emotional hesita…

I loved this anime. The emotions of unrequited love, and the love yet to bloom were very well shown in my opinion. It's emotionally devastating in its own way. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the ending. It was very clear what it represented, but it was a let down that they couldn't do another episode with more closure. Other than that it was amazing and I will definitely rewatch when I get amnesia. The art style is amazing and I put myself into the shoes of each character, and it made me cry a lot. I didn't like how pervy at points it was, but to each their own. If you like emotional romance, I would say that you should at least give this one a try.

Waiting for you in the summer. 7/10 Firstly, id like to say that this show is very underrated in the romance scene, not much people have talked about it eventhough its been more than a decade since its release. good points: The characters arent that bad and i honestly like their designs, its easy to recognize and has that early 2010s splash to it. The plot is honestly pretty generic but theres the scifi aspect of it which somewhat pulls you in. And of course, the romance overall was pretty releastic as to how you would generally deal with romantic issues and feelings just with a bit of anime cliches sprinkled here and there but overall it reminds me of my highschool days, god id hate to rmr that hahah. The OP and ED both are very good and it just gives off that 2010s era music with the s…

"No matter where you are, my camera will keep rolling to capture the summer moments that will burn into film." Waiting in the Summer Another anime by Tatsuyuki Nagai, this one was made in 2012. Although not as famous or legendary as his 2011 Anohana, the anime still achieved a certain level of success, with fairly good reviews in the community. The anime begins when Kaito and his friends, after finishing their exams, plan to make a film to commemorate their last summer of high school. During this process, Kaito meets a beautiful alien, Ichika, whose spaceship is damaged. They decide to make a film together until she leaves. + Content: The anime is a bit drawn-out, with a lot of unnecessary plot points, mostly due to the excessive number of superfluous characters. Except for the final ep…

I’ve been scrolling through the comments on this anime and damn, I get it—not everything’s gonna hit for everybody. But why do people gotta spew straight-up hate like this show personally ruined their life? Bro, I’m over here ugly-crying because I loved it so freaking much and I don’t even have the words for how it wrecked me in the best way.I’ve known about this gem since 2016, and guess what? I finally watched it on November 7, 2025—like, what took me so long?! Now I’m sitting here pissed at myself for waiting almost a decade. And the kicker? After all these years, there’s still zero news about a second season. They just left this beautiful, heart-gripping story hanging and walked away. It honestly hurts. Everyone who fell head-over-heels for it like I did got robbed. There’s this massiv…

📹ABCs As Dull As You Please °tepid° 💯%🔍only minor spoilers 🔠B likes A; C likes B; D likes C; E likes D; A likes B; & F gonna film it all. Sadly, overall, the show gets a "C" at best. 🚀In WITS a hot bimbo crashes to 🌍 on top of our ML, Kaito. It follows a group of school friends as they venture into amateur filmmaking, while at the same time, they're discovering eachother 's secrets. This is a man's (anime nerd's) idea of a romance. We've got the blushing-maiden-teen-boy and the gorgeous-open-and-over-sexualized-yet-unaware-and-innocent girl who is also quite available. Unfortunately, WITS has no wits about it. It's thoroughly room temperature and as captivating as a middle school paper on the history of home 🎥movies. 💕Inane shilly-shallying over relationships, simplified chara…

The MC looks like he might be a little more introspective from the first scene, giving the occasional wistful internal monologue, but he quickly becomes dumb, oblivious as your thickest romcom main. Worst of all, he's generic in his I WUVS you dynamic with his alien waifu, having nothing else to his character other than being a jittery mess (until he isn't) and wanting to preserve these precious memories, since there probably isn't a heaven or D-g or whatever. Most of the characters are shown to be pretty damn stupid and oblivious by episode 3. Those are some intense misunderstandings and a much-too-tangled love geometry. Of course, Kanna will eventually confess to the MC, and, despite the obviousness of her interest in him—implicitly announced by the dialogue and reactions when Remon is…

This anime has left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling that I just can't shake off. I'll be honest, I went into this series not knowing what to expect. But from the very first episode, I was hooked. There's something about the way the characters interact, the way the story unfolds, that just draws you in. And as you progress through the episodes, you find yourself becoming more and more attached to the characters. I mean, who wouldn't fall in love with Kaito's passion for filmmaking or Ichika's adorable quirks? What really got me, though, was the way the series captured the essence of summer. I mean, I'm a 90s kid, and this anime brought back so many nostalgic memories of my own summer vacations. The way the sunlight filters through the trees, the sound of the crickets, the feeling of freedom…

Ano Natsu de Matteru - A Mediocre Blend of Romance and Sci-Fi Rating: 5/10 Ano Natsu de Matteru is an anime series that attempts to intertwine elements of romance and science fiction, but unfortunately falls short of creating a truly engaging and memorable experience. While it has its moments, the overall execution leaves much to be desired, resulting in a mediocre offering. The story follows a group of high school students who come together during their summer break to create a film. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when they encounter an extraterrestrial being, leading to a series of events that challenge their friendships and complicate their budding romances. One of the shortcomings of Ano Natsu de Matteru lies in its narrative structure. The series struggles to find a…

This anime was one of my favorites for me, nearly instantly to be honest. I immediately fell in love with every character and the story made me actually interested, i watched this entire series in a single night and wish there was a 2nd season, even tho there may not be much content for one. The visual style of this anime was amazing imo, it gave off small-town japan vibes with a small friend group who liked filmmaking. In the anime, they made a film with old special effects that looked pretty crappy and had bad acting, but I felt like I was watching their film as I watched the anime, don't know how to explain it or put it into words but if you watch it you may understand The sometimes funny nature of the anime made it amazing as well I loved how it could go from depressing to funny in se…

I was kind of disappointed by other series (Golden time, Kokoro connect) and looking for some comedy, so after the first episode I was sold. I'm not usually into sci-fi series, but this one seemed to be fun. Comedy: check. Some awkward interaction between characters, but the plot was simple, and left little space for drama, which I found good. Romance: check. it was not the usual "one step forward, two steps back". The main plot was going in the right direction, and leaving some door open for possible side developments or afterthoughts, but I expected that everything would be solved at some point. First 10 episodes, quite good. It just bothered me that some side character popped up as soon as something was going to happen between the 2/3 main characters. Like: I want to go there with yo…

Average. Idk how people rewatched this or was saying how emotional it was, but for me it was pure cheesy and over-emotional lines with annoying characterization. The only thing i thoroughly enjoyed in this anime was the story ( a love pentagon) and that also sometimes made me regret watching this since suddenly a character repeats the same line and screams it louder, the other person enlightens and starts crying and makes a decision. Some characters were annoying on a ground level(llike remon) but even that's fine, but you can't enjoy an anime when the main characters themselves are sometimes annoying. Everyone's too kind to others, they blame themselves for a mistake they never made, and literally i was fastforwarding the last 2-3 episodes if i had to clearly say how bad the characters w…

It's a mixed bag as I see it. A slice of life genre movie or series usually is not one that glorifies or gives you goosebump moments like a mystery, war or a thriller genre series. It is subtle, authentic and very free flowing, hence having it's own way of pricking the audience conscience. Same goes with this series. The comedy placed in the series is surely 18+. This series makes you blush, laugh out loud, feel for some characters, feel paranoid about some others. So all in all I'd say the characters and their feelings are highlights of the series compared to the plot itself. The visuals are good, sound design is decent. Cheers.

Non-specific spoilers for the ending below. Ano Natsu de Matteru is a wonderful romance dramedy about a high school boy and the alien girl that comes to live with him. It suffers from just a few unfortunate flaws that keep it at the level of "great" instead of one of the best ever, but it is nonetheless well worth checking out if you like this kind of story. The characters are what make this show as good as it is. The main character, Kaito, is endearingly nerdy about film and his relationship with Ichika, initially based on a series of misunderstandings, blossoms into a very sweet romance. Kanna is also a memorably great tsundere character and the goofy and mysterious Remon steals most of the scenes she ends up in. There are no weak characters in this show, and the only real flaw is that…

No Spoilers Review While watching the first episode, it didn't really seem too great in my opinion. The Si-Fi style it had mixed into it didn't really appeal to me at first. But as it went on, I kind of got really into it. One thing that really got me watching was the romance between two characters. It was something that made me sort of smile while watching them grow closer. No only that, but it made me even root for them to get together at one point. I'm someone who watches a ton of Rom-coms and Slice of Life anime. But to be clear, this one sticks out from others. With the Drama and Sci-Fi added in there it gives it a great feeling. Something I'm not used to, but if done correctly; can be enjoyed very much. Now a big part of me giving this anime a 10, wasn't just because of its Rom…

I will not be able to express myself as well in English as I would like Sweet, very sweet, is what I think and feel when I watched Ano Natsu. Is romcom, don't expect anything else, but the clichés that surround the work are the ones we expect and, because they are done correctly, just enough. The MC is mature and coherent, the FMC is very cute and attractive, some refer to Onegai (I didn't watch it, I can't comment), but I saw a lot of Toradora! vibrations in this work, especially in the love triangles and in the interaction between the characters. Well, everything is so obvious and so common (based on the works of the genre) that just doing it with competence and a little caprice, it is above many others.

If you are now here you sure aren't a completely new weeblet, I bet you have at least already heard of Anohana, Darling in the Franxx and Kiznaiver, you probably have watched one of them and maybe you even enjoyed it, now, if you have watched more of them you may have noticed they are the literal same, mc with family problems falls in love with strange girl (ghost, dinosaur, just a strange girl) and then affairs of the heart come in the group of friends and ruin everything, drama, saddness and many tears flow. Before watching Ano Natsu de Matteru you better know the creators are the same of those shows I previously mentioned, and the plot is basically the same, and this is the matter indeed: you can tell more or less everything about how the show will go after just one episode, it's so pre…

THE STORY Waiting in the Summer follows the lives of Kaito Kirishima, Ichika Takasuki, Kanna Tanigawa, Tetsuro Ishigaki, Mio Kitahara, and Remon Yamano over the course of summer vacation as they set out to make a film starring the new transfer student Ichika. The series explores summer love as the characters start to realize their true feelings for one another, making the most memorable summer of their lives. I struggled with the story of this anime because while the whole series revolved around making this film and discovering love, there was another story that kept popping up every often; the story of Ichika. While I don't want to give any spoilers away, I felt that Ichika's story was more of a side plot device that showed up now and then, more so towards the end of the series. Also, I…

I have just realized that this anime was great. Though I find some of the sequels are little absurd. But I was still enjoying it. No problem what I was watching, the characters and of course the story is simple but interesting. I love it though I was really really late knowing this anime. 'osoi'...haha Hey are you kinda old? hummm...I don't mind if I am called by anyone as an outdated person or you say it. Oh I forgot, in this anime my favorite character's absolutely Ichika. But there is another reason to say that I am also attracted by Tetsurou since he performed in gentle and knew the proper way to treat the others like Mio and Kanna while they had a bad feeling. :) Such a good boy I think.
