Wind Breaker

Wind Breaker

Introduction

From an early age, Haruka Sakura was made an outcast due to his unconventional appearance and lack of social skills. However, the rough treatment turned him into a proficient fighter, which is now the only thing he prides himself on. Starting at Furin High School, where it is rumored that strength is valued over academics, Sakura has only one goal—taking the top spot. Involved in a street brawl the day before his enrollment, Sakura happens to meet a group of his future schoolmates. Instead of the usual rejection, they fight alongside him, demonstrating that what the school actually cares about is protecting the town of Makochi from any harm—hence why the students call themselves "Bofurin." Surprised by the support and appreciation of the townspeople, Sakura has a hard time accepting their goodwill. Though unfamiliar with kindness being shown to him, Sakura must learn to push past his discomfort when Bofurin is pitted against formidable enemies. After experiencing the feeling of acceptance, he finds himself fighting for the sake of others for the first time. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Recommended for people who haven't watched a lot of similar anime, the animation is good, the fight choreography is great, and the characters are visually appealing. However, I had to pause multiple times to laugh because of how cliché everything was: the dialogue, pacing, characters, and story. At least half of the time, I predicted what characters would do and say, and it was entertaining but also disappointing at the same time. No surprises, whether good or bad. There was no motivation to continue watching except for the great animation. Therefore, it was hard to take it seriously as a piece of media, resulting in not being invested or interested in the plot, relationships, or characters shown.

First three minutes seem promising, but every second after gets just more and more cringy. The visuals and fight scenes are polished, but the script feels like it was written by a teenage girl with some social problems. If I had to estimate how much time is spent on fights vs analyzing “whether I even need those friends, or not?” it would be something like 10:90% And what kind of school is this, anyway? There are no teachers, no lessons and even the drawing on the board never changes. So they basically go there just to sit together, analyze their emotional problems, then hang out to beat up other guys with depression? And one more thing: they are supposed to be cool defenders of the city, yet there’s a gang around every corner? Then MC came and effortlessly beaten them up. Whaaat?

-It has plenty of energy and sells its fights very well, but i also feel it doesnt rise much beyond that, the physical action is handled effectively, the battles have impact, dynamism, and flashy choreography, when Wind Breaker goes into fight mode it becomes very easy to enjoy, i give it credit for trying to be warmer than it looks, because although it presents an image of gang rivalry, strength, and confrontation, underneath theres a clear idea of community, respect, and protection, that helps it avoid feeling like an empty series of people throwing punches, instead it becomes a story where the protagonist learns to fit in, to understand others, and to redefine what being strong means, that humanity adds weight and keeps it from relying only on spectacle, outside of the action and a few…

Wind Breaker feels similar to Tokyo Revengers because it’s about gangs, fights, and loyalty—but honestly, it does a few things better. The story focuses on street fights and protecting the town, not time travel or confusing timelines, so it feels more direct and intense. the mc isnt a crybaby and can fight in season 2 we can see his emotion even more. Feels more grounded and fights have emotion . if u like gang, rivalry and brotherhood u will like it and the animation is solid cloverwork did their job and season 2 villian are interesting too. CHractaer are likable and things feel realstic and i think u should give it a try especially sakura first big fight with slow mo guy

I don't really know how to feel about this anime. I didn't like the plot very much, and in part I found it extremely unrealistic. Everything felt like it was part of the power of friendship. Why set it in a high school? That makes it more cringe-worthy. It could be an organization or something else entirely. It's a school, but there isn't a single teacher. The characters are all stereotypes. When they fight the other gang, in the end, the leader of the other gang wasn't having fun? This is a gang fight, not a school contest. This is my first gang anime, and I think it will be my last. I really didn't like the plot at all. The protagonist's motivations seem ridiculous to me. On the other hand, I think the animation is very good, and the fights are quite enjoyable for that reason. Also, t…

Aww man I haven't had this much enjoyment out of a highschool anime in a long while! This had that sort of Haikyuu feeling to it that I haven't seen in an anime in quite some time! Normally I tend to gloss over most highschool anime settings since they all sort of have the same thing going for them but this takes me back in a good way! For starters despite the large cast the anime does a good job balancing everyone not to mention their personalities are engaging! At first I was a little hesitant about the whole school full of delinquents theme and how they were going to handle it but I got to say that I really enjoy it! Of course this anime has a lot of cheesy moments but the fight scenes and characters really draw you in. I wouldn't say this is my favorite anime of all time but this is…

Gave the first episode a watch with no context or prior knowledge, ended up really into the characters and general delinquent/Good Samaritan duality thing it has going on. Animation is nothing my untrained eye was super impressed by, but I had a pretty good time getting to see the first season's story play out. The comparison to Tokyo Revengers kinda only goes skin deep based on my memory of that show, the overlap only goes so far as "anime about delinquents who have gang fights" but where TR has its time travel gimmick, this one just focuses on the characters, which is just fine by me. I recommend it!

“We don’t fight to destroy, we fight to protect.” That line sums up the core of Wind Breaker, a story that might look like your typical delinquent brawl fest but is actually about community, respect, and strength used for good. The series positions itself as a high-energy shounen battle narrative that leans heavily on action, animation, and sound design to drive engagement. The story follows Haruka Sakura, a high school student marked by black-and-white hair and heterochromatic eyes whose past experiences with bullying foster a delinquent streak. Hoping for a fresh start, Sakura transfers to a town famed for its delinquent school, only to discover that its students act as self-appointed protectors who maintain order in the streets. By interactions with peers and townspeople, Sakura gradual…

An anime about a MC that was shunned away because of his appearance, which resorted to violence to fill the void of proving himself, actually getting really good at it, going to a high school that he knew was all about power and wanting to be the top there... but it wasn't like what he thought it would be. This anime has a few common elements with Tokyo Revengers in terms of schools having turf wars and keeping their territory, and also having somewhat of a hierarchy of power, which helps making the fights pretty hype. I will start though by saying this, one of the strongest points of this anime is the animation. The fights, and even other scenes like running ones sometimes, are really top tier ones. And there are quite a lot of fights being done in this season, so you won't be disappoint…

I recently finished Wind Breaker. let me get strait forward why the hell is this show so lame? Why the hell that basta*d Sakura blushing over every sentence is he a girl or something? Its so annoying and most of the characters look like cheap fan art of Tokyo Revengers. They even show back stories of characters in middle of a fight! How much more lame they can be?? But this series starts quite good and has some decent fight scenes. Yeah don't expect god tier fist fight animation like the scene where Ayanokoji beats the class c captain. But Wind breakers animation is pretty decent. But the story is lame and has no depth. Just some kids fighting and shouting about honor. I honestly do not recommend it unless you have lots of time to waste.

**Wind Breaker – Fights That Hit Hard, Emotionally and Physically** *Wind Breaker* isn’t just a great fight anime—it’s one of those rare shows where every punch carries emotional weight. The battles aren’t just there for hype or style; they reveal character, deepen friendships, and push the story forward in meaningful ways. --- **🔥 The Fights** The action in *Wind Breaker* is top-tier. Two standout battles for me were: * **Sakura vs. Togame** – This wasn’t just a fight; it was peak emotional storytelling. The clash of beliefs and personal growth made it unforgettable. * **Umemiya vs. Choji** – Absolutely fire. The buildup, the tension, and the meaning behind every move made this battle hit even harder. Each fight in the show feels purposeful—no meaningless brawls, just well-crafted mo…

I’ve been regularly watching anime since 2014 and this is single-handedly the worst industry plant anime I’ve laid my eyes upon. First of all, this show is a disgrace to delinquent genre, there is NOT a single delinquent character in this show and I’m not even joking. Are you kidding me? How come I don’t see anyone mentioning this obvious mistake when criticizing this show? Anime fans really turn their brains off as soon as they see a show with good animation I guess Story [0/10]: In the first episode we are told that mc, Sakura Haruka (probably the worst mc name I’ve seen in years) has been bullied his whole life for having two toned hair and heterochromia. Honestly who gives a fuck if his hair is black and white? What a lame ass backstory but I’d still try to accept this as a decent way…

Felt like they explained the characters inner turmoil too much. It was very much a "tell not show" game when it should be the other way around. Like, Kotoha and especially Umeme basically only made appearances to explicitly explain Sakura's inner feelings to us and to him. Like mansplaining to the audience. Too much explicit magic of friendship talk up in here. Anyways, I think it was a nice breath of fresh air to see "delinquents" portrayed in this way where no one actually hates them. And the fact that Sakura was liked right from the get-go. I still think he looks like a Gacha life character OC but oh well he's a sweetie. Anyways, this anime is lowkey boring and cliche. But it's a good anime to watch while you're working out.

I'm labelling this as “Mixed Feelings” solely do to my belief that the half of the population that has low T will probably like it. With that out of the way, let's get into it. Wind Breaker is essentially a feminist perversion of male geared content. Dudes have feelings and real platonic relationships that can be intense. There's nothing wrong with that. The way it's presented is far too extreme. I don't know squat about the creator, but I can tell from watching alone that they believe masculinity is toxic, and they are likely female without looking into them at all. The relationships are feminine in nature, the way interact, all of it. It just oozes female. I have no interest or plan to confirm those suspicions, but I would be very surprised if they were actually male with normal levels…

Whether or not you like Wind Breaker is entirely going to be a matter of taste. If you're looking for a delinquent/battle shonen, this isn't exactly it. There are definitely some cool fight scenes that get pretty tense at times, but I'd argue this isn't the main focus of the anime. You'll like this show if you like things that are emotionally earnest, silly, over-the-top, a little corny--AND if you like delinquent turf war type stuff. Lots of brotherhood / power of friendship, and the main character's whole arc is basically recovering from trauma (lower-case t) & learning what love / friendship / gratitude look like. This anime definitely requires some serious suspension of disbelief. These kids seem to live in some part of Japan with zero government infrastructure that is entirely run…

People often said Wind Breaker is Tokyo Revengers but better. The only thing that is the same is they're both delinquent anime. That's literally it, the concept of the story is different. People saying one is better than another is tripping lol. Even though I don't like TR, I can't say WB is better than TR. Now about WB, this anime is just okay. The story is not particularly light or heavy. The characters and their situations though, it's kinda lack of depth. Pretty sure they're written better in the comic, but in anime, they're making me say "That's it?". I understand because the selling point is the interesting fighting scenes, which CloverWorks definitely serves with that, but giving more background to the story won't hurt anyone. Sometimes this anime feels childish and a bit embarras…

Most compare this series to Tokyo Revengers except in that Wind Breaker is actually good, and I couldn't agree more. It can be compared to Tokyo Revengers, except it's so much more than that. The characters are so wonderfully written, than it's engaging to learn about their stories and dive into the world around them. The fights also genuinely have weight to them, and why they fight. It isn't for no reason. The characters are also really likable, and just overall feels like a great group of people. Also do have to mention that the animation is wonderful. Cloverworks is really proving they're a good studio and can handle these types of stories. It shows through all the effort put into this adaption, and as a manga reader it makes me very happy. Overall, if you want something similar to…

I tried watching Wind Breaker three times because the first two times I just wasn't in the mood for the vibe, but the third time I was ready for it and I devoured it in only a few days. The characters are interesting and engaging. We've seen similar premises but in the right mood, it's fun. There's a brutality to the story that runs both physical and emotional that really gives it strength, and I think that's what I was having trouble with the first two times I watched it. It wasn't bad, you just have to be in the right frame of mind for it. It's kind of like a violent male-dominated Breakfast Club at times, and it took me a few tries to watch that movie too. I also think this season suffers from something a lot of modern anime have been lately where we got 13 episodes when really it shoul…
