Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches

Introduction

When Ryuu Yamada entered high school, he wanted to turn over a new leaf and lead a productive school life. That is why he chose to attend Suzaku High School, where no one would know of his violent delinquent reputation. However, much to Ryuu's dismay, he is soon bored; now a second year, Ryuu has reverted to his old ways—lazy with abysmal grades and always getting into fights. One day, back from yet another office visit, Ryuu encounters Urara Shiraishi, a beautiful honors student. A misstep causes them both to tumble down the stairs, ending in an accidental kiss! The pair discover they can switch bodies with a kiss: an ability which will prove to be both convenient and troublesome. Learning of their new power, Toranosuke Miyamura, a student council officer and the single member of the Supernatural Studies Club, recruits them for the club. Soon joined by Miyabi Itou, an eccentric interested in all things supernatural, the group unearths the legend of the Seven Witches of Suzaku High, seven female students who have obtained different powers activated by a kiss. The Supernatural Studies Club embarks on its first quest: to find the identities of all the witches. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I watched this one in my junior high-school but now i'm near to freshgraduate from uni and holy shiiii, this one is better than the first time i watched it. I was rating it 7/10 because yeah it's fun to see this character kiss this and that character. But i'm rewatching again and find it super fun to watch. The main thing i really like is the characterization is very diverse and well written. i mean this one use a ton of character but the author can make them not a one dimensional character. I mean just look at the first three episodes. We have Shiraishi and miyabi's vulnerable side. That makes the character so dynamic within the fast pace anime. And the author really can make a priority to the character. i'm amazed how yoshikawa miki (the author) can make a branch of the main plot. like…

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches The anime was a roller coaster, before I started watching the show I was unsure weather I'd like it or not, the first ep made my suspicion then the second and third ep had similar vibe . But somewhere along all of this I was enjoying the show more than anything the chemistry between Urara and Ryuu was predictable since the very first episode but the other witches oh damn I gotta say out of the seven witches 4 of em stole my heart I won't lie Urara, Nene, Sarushima and Takigawa they were my fav witches not just the ability fo their but their personalities are to die for especially Sarushima and Takigawa despite having less screentime they stole my heart ! Its a bummer that the anime had only 12 main episodes and a few OVA and Specials the series really des…

I liked it quite a bit. First, the powers part was great, and the kiss scene was a brilliant idea. The first few chapters have simple plots, but then it introduces a larger storyline, although I feel like the way it was going to be resolved was pretty obvious, which makes it feel a little slow. The relationship between Yamada and Shiraishi makes it more entertaining. At first, it seems like they're progressing very quickly, but when the final plot begins, I feel like it gets in the way of their relationship. I was hoping for a date episode or something, which I think could have been great. I liked the other witches. I think each character contributed something special. The only characters I didn't like were the president and his assistant; I felt like they were just there to annoy us. I…

Coming into this, you might see the genres and get intimidated it being a harem and all but upon watching this it really isn't that bad yes there is some fan service here and there, but it's very mild and won't ruin the show for you I've had this on my watchlist for a while now, but was too scared to watch because of the nature of the genre it's in but I was presently surprised by the wholesome plot and love story But I do think they introduced the witch plot line a little too late in the show and I think not all the girls plot lines fully are fully marinated. I like how they explain some of the girls back stories with a theory but they don't really delve into this theory for example the green haired girl the main character only assumes that she can't communicate properly she never really…

The whole show is just people kissing each other with a really uninteresting story. I assume this is an attempt to just ship people? The characters range from horrendous to tolerable. The female main character is the worst one of them all. Somehow, she has less personality than the shy girl. She doesn't say or do anything interesting she might as well just be a chair with boobs. The main character is also boring he's just the "misunderstood delinquent" archetype that seems to have been popular in the time period that this came out. Lackluster story. Boring characters. Terrible romance. It's a 2/10 because sadly, watching this wasn't enough of an insult to my dignity. But it was just so lacking in everything that I find it hard to get mad over it. Just completely forgettable.

This anime isnt watching anime but it sure did get me hooked on the harem/ecchi genre. The super catchy opening and ending and also the colorful artsyle + cute plot was top tier and i remember eating microwaveable french toast sticks while watching this shit it was so peak. The only thing i probs didnt like was the introduction of important cast members seen in the opening way later in the anime which kind of sucked lol. \ Anyways I loved everything from the vibe and the way the story progressed to the final episode def give this a watch and drink some tea and kick back to enjoy.

This is an enjoyable rom-com but I can't help but feel that from a pacing standpoint it feels fairly rushed once you get past episode 3 or 4. The comedy and jokes mostly work but by no means is this a side-splitting or exceedingly funny series. If I had to summarize the vibe I would say that it's cute and charming but unfortunately not that deep from a romantic development standpoint. What this series does best is tug on heart strings in a gentle way that doesn't ever feel excessive or self-indulgent. The dub is overall quite good and some of the VAs do an amazing job playing multiple characters believably which proves vital given the body-swapping trope central to the premise here. Overall this is a light-hearted, feel-good watch. Definitely better than average. I don't think you'll b…

Criminally underrated show with a great concept. Each episode to me felt wholly unique and intriguing, managing to keep my attention throughout. The characters were easily distinguishable and memorable in their own ways and the way they interacted was at some points purely for plot convenience but most of the time it felt natural. The pacing was relatively consistent and plot lines didn't take too long to reach their relevant conclusions which is often something that causes some anime to fall behind on. Overall, Yamada Kun and the Seven Witches deserves more attention than it gets and I would say is a good first time romance anime.

I'm still smiling thinking about this anime and writing this review. This anime defies its harem tag, expertly mixing school romance, mystery, supernatural elements, and hilarious moments. The premise hooked me - Yamada's accidental body-swapping ability leads to ridiculous situations. But what kept me invested was the slow-burn romance between Yamada and Shirashi. She's unlike any anime girl I've seen; her subtle expressions and conversations with Yamada spoke volumes about her feelings. No over-the-top blushing or melodrama, just genuine emotion. What struck me was how the anime balanced relationships beyond romance. Yamada's friendships, even with former adversaries, were beautifully nurtured. It showed that people can grow and reconnect. Now, I wish the anime had explored more of th…

The only 2 good things this show has is comedy and power concepts. The comedy isn't top notch per say, it is decent enough to get some guaranteed laughs though. The power system is a great idea; it wasn't used to it's maximum potential, more ways to use powers than just kissing for example or a longer story could have presented a variety of situations where the powers were more than just a plot device. The story beats pass by way too quickly; this in turn compromises the mystery aspects and makes everything solvable before the show presents it's ta-dah moments. I think you can tell no-one took this project seriously when both sub and dub voice actors sound like they rushed through it and/or just kept their first take. I'm not suggesting a slow pace like Monster Anime; I'm just saying thi…

This is said to be a harem and gender-bender series, but I'd say it's not really harem enough to be a harem and the gender-bender aspect isn't explored a whole lot. So how come I still think this is worth a watch even though my expectations weren't really met? Well... - Story & Theme A teachers headache and a teachers pet accidentally kiss and switch bodies. You might think you know how that will turn out, but the series quickly changes into something else and what could have been a predictable story about two different people forced to live each others lives turns into a search for others with strange powers and the friendships that are forged along the way. There is an element of romance in it, but it's played out in a way that feels more natural and part of the character development an…

Supernatural? Harem? School life? And even more, but you won't be overhelmed. It's suprisingly well balanced with some humor and action. When the show will going to the end you won't believe that you enjoyed it soo much. The animation is't lacking, plot twists and story is enjoyable, on other hand you have opening and ending songs with are definitelly not worst. No matter if it was my first time watching or re-watch 8 years later, I couldn't skip thru them, they give you no less fun than anime. Definitely recommend, also It's must have to read manga after the show!

For an anime with the key ideas of “Harem” and “Body Swap,” this anime is surprisingly not overwhelmed by fanservice or horny rom-com tropes and instead has care for how its plot and characters are developed. The story centers around Yamada and his ability to steal “witch powers” from the 7 witches that get special abilities triggered by a kiss. While the premise sounds really trashy, this anime was surprisingly not and instead a really chill school romance mixed with magic. For a harem anime with “7” in the name, I was expecting the girls not to have much attention paid to them, and while there were obvious “main girls” and side girls like many larger harems, even the less important girls had their time and their arcs. This show had much more careful attention to how it treated its chara…

Wanna know what, I wasn't expecting an anime with a premise as corny as this one to be as enjoyable as it was, but my goodness, I had a great time while watching it. Maybe it was the characters or the mechanism of the supernatural or the wonky premise itself somehow, but I was super engaged during every episode, no matter what new characters came in or where the plot went. There are a few bits of this anime that I noticed hurt the watching experience a bit, but if I were to go off and read this manga, I don't think any of those issues would be a problem. Since we should talk about those problems, I'll start with the first one: if you consider the conflicts these characters are going through, they're mostly melodramatic. There's a bit of seriousness toward the end, but for the most part, t…

Honestly, this is one of those shows I desperately wish would have a continuation, despite knowing full well that chances are the show would get worse and worse as it progressed. It's such a great concept to work with, it feels like a waste to only have twelve episodes, not to mention the amount of lost material to work with in the comics. As far as I've seen, the comics get way more complicated than necessary, and that jumbles things a lot. However, even if they're jumbled and progressively get worse and worse in quality according to people, I feel like many people forget that things don't have to be perfect. This show is by no means perfect, though it's very unique for the genres it inhabits. Since the show, as well as its ending, are already imperfect, what's the harm in making more of…

An interesting story, diverse characters and a healthy dose of action and drama are all this anime needed to make it the excellent series that it is. I'm going to have to keep this reveiw brief, as there is alot to say, and virtually all of it would ruin the plot to an extent. Steering clear from the plot, the real standout of this anime is the progression of the MC. It's truly extrodinary how natural the character arc feels, and yet how much he changes from the first episode. To keep it simple, if you enjoy romance animes, with a light dusting of action, a serving of mystery and a great storyline, then certainly do give Yamada Kun and the 7 Witches a go :)

This was one of my favorite fantasy animes and the main protagonist is actually a very cool guy, unlike some other harem anime characters. Overall, I really liked the plot and the art style and I hope a season 2 will come soon. The one complaint that I had about this show was that it was too short. They could have made more material (like 20+ episodes) based on the manga. I'm going to give this an overall score of 10/10 since the characters were well written and the story was flowing and not hard to understand. I really liked the way the animators decided to draw some of the scenes since it made me not lose interest as I have in the past. Another thing that I liked about the anime was the sound effects used. These sound effects were funny and made watching the anime more enjoyable. I recom…

Yamada Kun and the Seven Witches starts out pretty strong with some unique characters. I'm not positive what makes a show stand out in the beginning, however I do know what immediately turns me away. Fortunately, there's enough here to watch and find entertaining. I have an unfortunate tendency to try and see deeper than some stories go, it's honestly why I appreciate anime so much (the Japanese are great with storytelling and world building). This tendency often gets me in trouble if the anime is only surface level deep though. It feels incomplete because of it's lack of depth, but maybe that was the intention of the creators. That concept is my basic review for this show... "Pleasant on the surface, but lacks any depth". The show itself is pretty unique in its conceptualization, but th…

I'll be completely honest here when I say that this anime did not turn out the way I thought it would. On the surface, it seemed like it would abuse the "Harem" and "Romance" aspects, but it did the opposite. The story was very interesting. There were a lot of aspects and pieces of it that really stood out to me. Glossing over the synopsis really leaves you wondering what it all really means and what is done with it all. The body-swapping aspect stood out the most. The story is way deeper than it initially seems to be, and it was all attention-grabbing and leaves you questioning and wanting more, from beginning to end. From the very first episode, it lays the foundation quickly and immediately establishes the overarching aspect that will propel the story as it goes. However, that is one o…

Story (8/10): The plot is not very sophisticated, which makes it easy to understand. The powers are somewhat unique, but there are tons of other anime with magical powers. However, the way they use their power by kissing is very interesting. There are a few fan service and ecchi scenes which were nice, and it has quite a lot of funny scenes. After finishing the anime, I felt that the story was a bit rushed. I wished they showed more of the side females rather than mostly just the main, some even appeared only in 1 or 2 episodes. Art (10/10): The art was good. All the female witches are nicely drawn, all of them had distinctive hair colours so it was easy to distinguish them. Shiraishi is really cute looking as well. The art is definitely not as good as top-quality animes but nothing I can…
