So, i watch this anime decades ago. bassically when it was released.
I remembered about this anime's existence due to this random youtuber called Heralen uses this anime opening for a jeopardy question.
Truth be told, i have no recollection about this anime, not a single piece of bit, Granted because it's been years. However, what i do remember was my feelings when i watch this anime.
After reading some discussion i can sumarize that this is about the mc, and his collection of friends (girls), and the dangers looming about that something (no spoiler) is out for these girls. The mc then vowed to protect them. It's a story about survival.
It's a good anime, something you can expect from 2014. It's pretty good and neat albeit outdated to current modern day trends. It's very unique.
Somehow…

What a mess this was. It's hard not to compare Brynhildr to the classic anime and manga Elfen Lied considering its status in the community and the shared original author, but even on its own this anime does not hold up and neither does it stand the test of time 11 years after it aired. My favorite review of this I've seen dubs Gokukoku no Brynhildr "cry porn" which is more than apt for this, we are introduced to characters that we have next to zero connection with and are expected to be on edge when tragedy befalls them, the only reasons we are given are: a) they like the MC and of course we want the MC to succeed right? And b) they're attractive, that's about how deep the characters get. The constant focus on boob and sex jokes are incredibly juvenile and wouldn't even be passable in an a…

I recently checked out "Brynhildr in the Darkness" and wanted to share my thoughts. It's one of those shows that falls into the harem category, but it tries to mix in other genres too. Gotta say, it's alright, but it didn't blow me away.
Let's start with the good stuff. The animation is solid, the music sets the mood nicely, and the voice acting is on point. But when it comes to the story, well, it's kind of forgettable. You've got this mishmash of mystical, extraterrestrial, conspiracy, and harem themes all thrown together, and it just doesn't quite gel. The pacing is slow, and it feels like there's no real direction to the plot. Basically, it's about a bunch of girls with powers hanging out in a space observatory with one guy, and you can guess where that leads – lots of awkward situati…

Cry porn, you go in expecting trash, and it's cry porn trash. None of the characters are more than 2 mm deep and the show expects you to care about them. The big reveal at the end is disappointing and pointless. This show won't leave you wanting more, but you will want to finish it just for the sake of the overarching mystery. No spoiler, but the mystery is trash and it delivers no satisfactory conclusion. The only thing you'll have to say at the end is boo fricken' hoo.
Is it sad? Yes.
Is it good? No, not at all.
Why'd I finish it? The mystery element, which delivered nothing.
I cry super easily at good sad cartoons from Japan. This one just isn't good.

My brother in Christ, this is my first review on this site after years of watching both pretty good and downright bad animes. Why would I waste such a moment on an anime that I don't recommend? It's simple: because up until episode 12, it's a 6-7 star anime. However, episode 13 threw all of that into a blender and served us the most disgusting mess it could possibly result in.
"Why would the creator do that?" you may ask. So do I. And then, just as I'm about to smash my monitor into pieces, I read that beautiful part of this anime's description on MAL: "Gokukoku no Brynhildr adapts the first 10 volumes of Lynn Okamoto's manga series of the same name." Oh dear Lord, this explains SO much.
All the complex information they present, and then immediately simplify in the most fantastical way p…

This show is bait. I was baited so hard by at every turn in the anime. Rewatched it and still got baited. Characters explain the plot under the assumption that the audience only has three brain cells. Great watch, 10/10 would recommend my children.
This is one of those 'the source material is better' animes. However, I do appreciate the effort put into making some parts of the story less drawn out than in the manga.
All in all, glad I watched this when I was still young so that I can revisit this at a later time (today) to see how much I've grown as a person.

I don’t usually write reviews, not at all. In fact, I am pretty sure this is the first one I’m writing. Why I would choose this anime to review first, I’m not sure. I have feelings about it, less clear than I’ve had about others, but this anime, the same one which caused me to create my account, felt like the one to review.
To get straight to the point, I genuinely enjoyed it. I turned my brain off halfway and watched it for the second time since I had first watched and lost it years ago. I haven’t been able to just kick back and watch an anime without worrying about dropping it or thinking it was absolutely horrible in a while.
Even though Gokukoku no Brynhildr is a harem anime, featuring an assortment of girls of all kinds, I was also able to enjoy the story aspect. I wouldn’t say the…

The story isn't entirely original in all concepts, but it's original enough to not feel like a clone of something else. Unfortunately, I think the area in which it loses some viewers is that the first few episodes start with a distinctly ominous setup, but things begin turning into your typical fan service after a few episodes.
I'm not opposed to these inclusions myself, but I could definitely see how others may feel as though the anime takes a turn away from what they were seeking after the initial setup. At times, it does feel a bit forced and unnecessary.
That being said - it remained enjoyable to me, despite the change in direction. I found that there is enough mystery in the plot to keep one intrigued about what would happen next.
The cycling in of new characters regularly has both…

Gokukoku no Brynhildr
Murakami can't forget her childhood friend who got killed in an accident. To fulfil their agreement, Murakami joins the Astronomical Society and keeps searching for aliens. He then meets Kuroha Neko whose look exactly like Kuroneko. He wants to confirm her identity by checking the moles. But she called herself a "witch". She is physically modified, but the price was that she would die if she did not take the medicine of death one day. To recover (the sister of Ichijiku), the research institute sent a killer to kill the witches.
From the beginning of the story setting, I knew that it was not a comedy story. Despite that, the studio tried to include more fan services to cover up the cut scene (you will find the story is too rush even if you did not read the manga)

It's pretty average all the way through, until the final episode(s), where it goes from average to appalling. I've never seen a final episode that was so absolutely terrible - it legitimately ruined the whole experience, leaving me with a very sour feeling.
The ending aside, the rest of the show is pretty average and generic. It has some interesting elements; in fact I think the overall concept could've been used for a fairly entertaining show - ecchi pandering, shallow characters and poor story development ensured that never happened however.
Even if you're contemplating watching it for the overt sexual themes and ecchi tropes, I'd caution against it. That's how terrible I feel the overall experience of this anime is.

For the most part, I enjoyed this show. Nice story concept, good characters and development of them, etc. The part that takes this show from an eight to a seven is the ending and the unexplained from the abrupt end. I am still confused at what happened and astonished at how fast they tried to resolve the entire plot in about 23 mins when it should have taken at least three times that. Due to this, there is still a lot of things that are unexplained, such as the infertile alien egg and the whole valkyria sister thing. I am still giving this show an above-average score because this show is worth watching. Now it doesn't resolve cleanly, but I still recommend 11 of the 13.

This Anime is very special to me because, this was the first Anime I ever (fully) watched. I dropped watching SAO and Attack on Titan, because I watched the first episode of Brynhildr, and I loved the story more than the plot of SAO and Attack on Titan . It was so interesting to me at the time and it still is today! The end was however not satisfying in any way shape or form and overtime it felt a bit rushed. If you do watch this Anime, do not watch the last episode. Just DON't. Its for your own wellbeing.
The Protaganists ,Kuroka and Murakami, are interesting, they had clear motives and could easily relate to them. Very likable characters however everyone else was a bit annoying. Kazumi was way too flirty and dirty, Kana is kinda a typical tsundere except she's disabled and Kotari is just…

This anime was one of the most mediocre ones I've watched recently. I really wanted to know more about the characters, the facility the witches were in, the things that were injected into the girls, etc., but it offered like, NONE of that. All the girls were shallow stereotypes with too much fanservice for this kind of anime. with a serious anime such as this, i feel like nudity should be used sparingly and not just thrown in there for the sake of "BoObIeS". Also I watched the English dub because that was all I could find, and it was also mediocre.

I never did understand why "Elfen Lied" was considered a good anime. Its characters were extremely thin and uninteresting, and it prioritized shock value over any good action or storytelling.
If you agree with those statements, then here is the counterpoint: From the same mangaka, we have Brynhildr in the Darkness, which also includes girls with superpowers (except the explanation is clearer and better, there are multiple girls, and they all have distinct personalities that are engaging and intriguing, even if some are more likable than others), a government agency trying to pursue them to recapture them, and an unpowered boy at the center of their drama (except he's got a strong personality and intelligence and is likable).
From that description, you might imagine both series to be very…

"No way they're both insane"
---Ryouta Murakami.
What is it with Japanese media and torturing children ??
One Brynhildr needs a tragedy tag. Right from the very beginning Brynhildr is torturing kids particularly young girls. If this is bothersome to you stay away from this anime. No need to read further.
The story starts with kids falling from a great height, and it just goes on from there. You get an unending parade of kids being drowned, cut in two, kicked in the head, blasted, shreded, melted, dissolved, and having their minds erased. Brynhildr literally lurches from scene to scene of having a character do something endearing to seeing them killed in an outlandish fashion. It's a really cheap excuse for plot.
Even if you aren't familiar with the manga, by about the 7th episode, you…

Just a quick word, anyone saying "Oh this seems like Elfen Lied"... Guys, IT'S MADE BY THE SAME PEOPLE! Ok that's out of the way, Wow... This anime is awesome! How? Read below my young Jedi's... Yeah I like Star Wars to, sue me.
Story:
Really well! Now not anything crazy good but very good. It tells the story off without any spoilers, witches who are controlled by a secret organisation, they have to run away and some manage to and now have to survive! Now the way they have to, nope not saying. But the story is filled with very good drama, action and mystery. You know when an anime is good at mystery when you've watched it like 5 times and the ending still surprises you... Yeah it honestly does.
Art:
Very good also! Now again not anything mind blowing but good. Just your typical art styl…

Underrated, Unpredictable and Unfortunate.
There are the 3 words that come to mind when watching Brynhildr in the Darkness, Below I will explain my thoughts, opinions and why I think Brynhildr is an anime worth your time. This review will contain as little spoilers as possible. First off, this show is not Elfen Lied. For the sake of being fair, and not setting a bar of expectation I will not be comparing the two.
Expectations have caused this anime to be somewhat underrated and really; a hidden gem. The dark story is a big contrast to harem Murakami shares with his group of female companions known as ‘Witches’. The only drawback to being surrounded by these lovely ladies is that for whatever reason, they were brought back from the brink of death now with unique powers. The trade-off is,…

Let's get this out of the way: when I first watched Brynhildr, I hadn't seen Elfen Lied. So I come in here with no context about how its similar or dissimilar and... I think that's probably a good thing, at least to have the perspective of analyzing it on its own.
The basic story involves a boy (Murakami) meeting a girl (Kuroha Neko) who happens to be both the spitting image of his dead childhood friend, and a "Witch" -- in this setting a young woman given seemingly supernatural powers through (initially) vague mad science-y means. What it means to be a witch is essentially the hook for the whole story, because Neko and her witch friends are on the run from the lab that created them, and also need to acquire some resources in short supply if they are to survive.
And from there... it's ac…

I don't know, this series is just bland as hell..anyways since I have a lot of criticisms in this series I'll just do a positive/negative review.
Positive
1. I'll first start with the ONLY Character that Single handedly carried the show (for me) and that's KAZUMI, she first starts as a character who is just there but out of everyone she has the best character development.
heck even her willingness to give up her virginity is has a reason, (manga spoilers)
anyway from a filler character she became the most caring and exciting to watch, and I do feel that her feelings are genuine.
2. I do like the concept about the pills that witches need to take, if only they could have just focused there then things would turn out okay I think.
3. Murakami though I still dislike him does prove himself…
