Kakushigoto

Kakushigoto

Introduction

Kakushi Gotou is a somewhat popular manga artist whose works are known for inappropriate content. Because of this raunchiness, when his daughter Hime was born, he vowed to keep his profession hidden from her, believing that she will be disillusioned if she finds out. This paranoia-induced belief leads Kakushi into hectic situations. Despite being a single father, he does his best and often resorts to extreme ends just to protect his secret, such as guising as a salaryman every day or holding emergency drills in case Hime somehow finds her way to his workplace. Kakushigoto tells the story of a father and daughter living side by side, maintaining their peaceful existence as the father attempts to preserve the status quo. However, there is a saying: "there are no secrets that time cannot reveal." In time, Hime must learn the reality behind the things she took for granted as she grew up. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Kakushigoto follows the story of a single father and his 10 year old daughter. The father, Kakushi is a relatively successful manga artist who earns his livelihood drawing raunchy and vulgar manga assisted by his team of assistants and his editor, Tomaruin (THE GOAT). The thought of this "secret" getting exposed to his daughter torments him and he masquerades to be a corporate salaryman and even goes as far as getting a designated suit for the same to mask his true Mangaka identity. Every episode begins or ends with a brief, quiet flash-forward to an 18-year-old Hime discovering her father's old studio. These segments are stripped of the bright comedy, carrying a bittersweet and rather nostalgic undertone that keeps you guessing about what happened to Kakushi in the intervening years.…

this review is spoiler free, but you really can't comprehend even a fraction of how good kakushigoto is unless you consume the entire story, so please watch it if you can. > STORY/ENJOYMENT: 9.5 kakushigoto is so much more than a comedy, and the process of slowly realizing that is honestly what makes it so good. it may feel like everything shown in an episode is just a short story for a quick laugh, but then you soon realize that it's all important to a greater over-arching story. it's utterly impressive how kakushigoto turns such a simple idea from a gag into something serious enough to be a meaningful extended metaphor and the theme of almost an entire episode. this also applies to the series as a whole. i also like how we ever so slowly learn where the story is going. it shows little…

Kakushigoto was an anime I watched right after Usagi Drop (Don't read that manga) I liked Kakushigoto. The premise was super interesting. And the comedy is good comedy is always subjective, but this time it's good. Story: About a Dirty gag manga artist who has a daughter. He works but keeps his job a secret from his daughter, Hime. All in all, it was a good story But there is one thing that is a little negative about this anime. It is a little *too* bland. There is nothing here that really stood out. Same with Usagi Drop. Maybe it is Anime burnout or I am tired I have 0 clue. But the anime similar to either of them, Barakamon, was amazing. The Music: Meh OP. I skipped it each time Animation: Also meh, better than Usagi Drop's animation but still nothing to write home about Final…

My only complain about this show, is that it is only 12 episodes long, so the ending can feel a little bit rushed (it concludes most of the story, but it makes more progress in the last 4 minutrs of the last episode than the average slice of life anime in 3 seasons, and I dint say this as an insult to slice of life). Other than that the anime has a great and touching story, with nice comedic elements sprinkled troughout. It will definitely piece your heart together, thank break it ind the last usually 4 minutes of each episode, and then build it again, just to make you cry, usually tears of happiness at the final episode.

Man, being a dad seems nice. This series is the kind of story that doesn't just warm the heart. It's a compelling narrative that, just as the name suggests, holds a secret for the audience. It creates a space that shows both sides of a coin: the fun, energetic tone of the past, and the sad, reflective side of the future. Both shine a lot more, because of the existence of the other. While it's a father and daughter story at its core, I enjoyed the comedy a lot, because of the strange realism. There's a grounded nature about the story, discussions of money, services, how much you need to live, who you gotta trust, and the way a loving father acts. It doesn't try to give you a bleak outlook, just how a nice life has a cost, and how much a good father can do for a good daughter. Including j…

"Kakushigoto" really is a hidden gem among numerous slice-of-life shows out there. This show got me hooked after watching one episode. the story follows a manga artist who is known for his lewd stories. Because of that, he has to hide his job from his daughter. Art/animation: I have to say, the animation is great in its own way. colorful templates were used to make a beautiful, cute, wholesome slice-of-life scene. The art is cute and unique. Hence the viewers feel very relaxed when watching the show. Music/ sound effects: The opening and the ending were pretty decent and fit the tone of the show. The sound effects were alright. I really have nothing to complain about the sound effects and music from this show. Plots: As I said above, I really got hooked on this show. "Kakushigoto" star…

tl;dr: An anime with decent slice of life that doesn’t successfully build up to it’s deeper, more serious aspects. Kakushigoto is an anime that has a lot of interconnected parts where it isn’t really clear what they’re all leading up to, but in the end they do manage to come together, kind of. The majority of the anime is centered around a father, Goto, who is a manga artist and single father taking care of his ten year old or so daughter, Hime, though he’s somewhat embarrassed by the fact that the manga he draws is perverted and thus he goes to extreme and absurd lengths to hide the fact that he’s a mangaka from her. The story itself for the most part is just the two of them living their lives in such a manner, but in the process the script delves into two very distinct themes, Goto’s l…

It was a very bland show. Just barely watchable at most times. The jokes were always stale to the point of being bad. They relied too much on the shows premise in a bad way, it really isn't that interesting how everything unfolds. The show feels like a bad rip-off of sayounara zetsubou sensei, especially the main character, just with a more positive vibe, which didn't work out at all for it. There were times I wanted to give it an average rating (5) but then they remind me why I choose not to right after. The characters were average at best, most times it felt like a group consciousness thing, instead of them being individual characters. The main, his editor, and the kid are probably the most eccentric and interesting to watch due to the situations it provides. However, even they are no…

What immediately hooked me was hearing the voice actor for Kakushi Goto, the main character, being the same as Araragi Koyomi. What later surprised me was that he isn't even the only one from the Monogatari series, Nadila, a supporting character, being voiced by Katou Emiri, who previously voiced Hachikuji Mayoi. But it doesn't stop here. The entire cast is filled with well-accomplished voice actors, and it shows: the voice acting is incredible. Heck, we even have Merry from the infamous pillow-tugging anime Makura no Danshi, here in the role of Kakushi Goto's editor Tomaruin Satsuki. The style of comedy ranges from light word-play and Nichijou-style overreaction to otherwise everyday events, to various verbal misunderstandings between characters having humorous consequences. I probably wo…

I absolutely adored this series, and I really didn't expect to at all. It sounded like a funny enough premise, but the emotion in Kakushigoto blew me away. I've seen a lot of people talk about this series being incredible because it touches on parents' secrets from their children, but the point I kept coming back to while watching this series--a point which I loved--was seeing how Goto-sensei was learning from his daughter in every episode. There were silly scenes and heartwarming scenes and bittersweet scenes where that was evident, and I found it so clever that that's how this narrative built up the relationship between Goto-sensei and Hime. Of course, there were also the general moments of interaction between the two that made Kakushigoto feel very inviting, in which Goto-sensei would…

My highest praise for Kakushigoto has to be in the animation and visuals. The "loose" animation style combines with it's distinct characters designs to create countless beautiful keyframes. Gotou and Ami are two examples of whenever they're on screen it really stands out how well they're drawn. Story wise - what stands out to me has to be its use of tones. Each episode -towards its conclusion- will u-turn into a much darker, cold-toned future. This future the story is hinting at should drag you down in thoughts and worries of what's to come, yet every time it has an ability to grab ya back and you get lost in the light, cozy, slice-of-life portions of the show. There's only one negative that stood out to me. This show is a Slice-of-Life, episodes focus on the characters and it's world, the…

Spoiler free review regarding the plot. Kakushigoto is one of those anime that have you waiting for the punchline. Even from the first episodes, it has you believing that the ending whether good or bad is gonna make your eyes turn into waterfalls. While I have to admit that in some cases it came close, it did not succeed. The premise of the anime itself (minor spoiler ahead), dealing with two different timelines, allows the series abrupt changes which in fact form its core. Neither the humor nor the plot are its strong points. The heartwarming scenes are sometimes a treat but on their own could not have kept me invested. It was the mystery it created that hooked me and got me to finish it. So, did the mystery deliver? No, not really. I expected something different, something better,…

I struggled between 7 and 8 on this one, but the obvious passion the creators have for the series pushed it over the edge. Their care takes an otherwise slightly generic premise and plot and makes it interesting. The main part of each episode consists of actually funny antics revolving around keeping secrets from Hime, childhood misunderstandings, and jabs at the manga industry. The producers also set a lot of time aside for heartwarming interactions between Hime and her dad. Each episode is capped with a look into a darker future, which is the focus of the final episode. This anime is well balanced between comedy and tragedy. The art is also split between serviceable character models and surprisingly detailed backgrounds (one night sky nonchalantly has an accurate rendition of the Orion…

One of the most heartwarming anime I have ever seen. A beautiful story of how a father raises his child alone. Some comedy in between of a heartwarming story. And don't just watch this anime randomly. if you have got depression by watching animes like Attack on Titan, Tokyo Revengers, and Tokyo ghoul you must watch this. it has a really beautiful story and the characters are also pretty good. you will enjoy watching it, but don't watch it with your family. this anime will suck your depression away. it's like this anime was made for the sole purpose of killing the depression inside of people.

Very mediocre story. The selling point might be that it's wholesome, but there are far better wholesome anime that actually leave an impactful impression on the viewers. The characters ranged from fine to dreadful. This might be one of those shows that goes completely forgotten after you finish watching it. The synopsis had great potential for an amazing story worthy of it's rating, but they dropped the ball and made it extremely bland instead. I can't help but feel disappointed that they mainly focused on the random tomfoolery of being in that situation rather than the more serious sides. The lack of communication between the characters was done for comedic effects, but they made it so incredibly bad that it wasn't believable majority of the time. That frustration with lack of communica…

A beautiful anime in every way possible. From the art to characters to the stories. One can't help but to become emotional while watching it. The art was a bit different from a lot of animes, which made it stand out in a positive way. All of the characters had amazing designs. The colors and how they where used was great. The best part of the story was the characters. The majority of them where loveable and well made. Yes, a lot of them had a lot of tropes in them. But it's not bad. The story made it's own touch to them. Which made them memorable. The plot was sweet and rather touching. A father caring for his young daughter while keeping his work a secret in order for her not to feel embarrassed. For the majority of the time it was between a 7 or 8 points review. However, the ending s…

First of, I know that this isn't "the masterpiece", but since I enjoy slice of life genre, as a whole and also appreciate a good story with a well rounded ending, I can't really do anything else, but give it a 10/10. I like how the story unveils itself little by little and basically drags you into binge watching. It makes me a little bit sad that it has only 12 episodes, but if I take everything in consideration, anything more would be a drag and the impact of the story and character development wouldn't be as good as it is now. I can say that it ends on a good note, which is something that I like and appreciate and the ending kinda hits home. I would definitely recommend watching this anime, especially if you like slice of life with a good story. I honestly started this anime because I lo…

Incredible, fantastic. Beyond my expectations, this anime has a very interesting storyline and has a happy and perfect ending in my opinion. Although the comedy in this anime is a bit lacking, the mystery at the end of each episode is finally solved in ep 12. Starting from What's wrong with Hime's father? Why did Hime's father stop drawing manga? This anime is very good and means a lot to me who has lost my father. My expectation is that this anime has a standard storyline and a light comedy that really refers to the slice of life. However, Sya was very surprised that this anime had a unique plot, the drama was quite heavy, and as expected, the comedy lacked taste. 10/10

I was scrolling through Funimation, trying to find an anime to watch when Kakushigoto appeared in-front of me with a "only on Funimation" banner... so of course I had to start watching it. Let's get right into the anime basics. Story; A young girl, Hime Gotou, receives a key to Pandora's box from an unknown address. Without thinking about it twice, she heads to the location to discover her fathers biggest secret; he makes dirty manga for a living. Go back into the past to discover the father and daughter live alone, a happy and normal life from the outside. But little do people know that Kakushi Sensei is a mangaka for a "dirty series" that's known for adult humour. Not a lot of people know because he hides it for the sake of his beloved daughter and never wants her to find out. Will he b…

This show was a complete package it was filled with a great sense of humor, refreshing characters, and a tragic yet wholesome story. I really loved the way the story was presented, it had that wholesome vibe to it throughout the series and it was very fun to watch this show. I really got attached to the main characters and side characters as well. The creators did a fantastic job of portraying the life of a manga artist trying to be a good father. Overall and I didn't feel detached from the story and I had a great time watching the show.
