it's a fun exploration of an antagonists perspective in a fantasy setting rife with magic, demons, dragons, knights and combinations of all the above and so many more! with this much variety in personality among the main cast, you do get a little dizzy going from story-line to story-line, but if you pay attention to the little details and look past some of the silly character tropes, it's an unsurprisingly fun but yet surprisingly in-depth story about a group of characters, their relationships and their desires to leave a mark on the history of the world. oh, yeah, it's also an issekai :P
Well, well, the Season 4 is a straight-up Masterpiece, continuing the series’ legacy as one of the best dark isekai ever made.
I’ve seen some truly braindead takes floating around saying this season is boring, not recommended, or that the story goes nowhere. Those opinions genuinely baffle me. As someone who has watched hundreds of anime and reads both manga and light novels seriously, I can confidently say this season is peak Overlord. It’s intelligent, ruthless, and deeply entertaining for anyone who actually appreciates good storytelling.
Season 4 dives deeper into empire-building, political maneuvering, and the terrifying efficiency of Nazarick. The pacing might feel slower to casual viewers, but that’s exactly what makes it great — it takes its time to show the cold, calculated realit…

I finished all four seasons of "Ovelord" along with the theatrical release "The Sacred Kingdom" (set between episodes 7 and 8 of the fourth season) and really enjoyed it. The best seasons for me were seasons 2 and 3, moving on to Ainz himself, who is a villain capable of bringing about the destruction of a given country in order to secure power, recognition, or the safety of his servants from the tomb, to whom he is personally attached. It's clear that our undead ruler is a rather unusual main protagonist (taking into account his moral compass) that I've encountered while watching or reading isekai. The art, animation, and music are top-notch, with only the CGI effects leaving much to be desired...
So, I finally rate Overlord an 8/10, becoming my next favorite isekai after Mushoku and Ten…

If you are looking at reviews to see if this anime is worth watching, save yourself the trouble and the time, it is not and it won't be.
This anime just does not innovate, same plot, same development, same conclusion. No drama, no suspense and nothing interesting at all ever happens. Everything just goes according to plan or even better. The main characters are just too overpowered and nothing really matters. The people that call it a masterpiece or a deep, "philosophical" story are clearly trolling.
And if you think that maybe it is worth giving it a try to see how it concludes at the very end... well, the author himself does not seem to want to finish the story, this season and the movie adapt up to volume 14 and he has been stuck for years on the last two volumes of the story (its con…

I just want to say that I love Overlord. However I have noticed a steadily declining animation quality for the fights. This goes for all of overlord, not just this season. The use of CGI is at times abysmal. Don't get me wrong, CGI isn't bad at all, however how Overlord does it is just so, so bad. There comes a certain point where I can just read the manga instead and get a better experience because I'd be imagining how the scene looks instead of looking at my screen and being disappointed. You'd think that the animation quality could only go up, considering that Overlord gained massive popularity as an anime, and is an anime that most people who watch anime know of, at least a little bit. It's like the people who are producing this are slowly and surely cutting budget and time just to see…

My most beloved and cherished anime to date. If Overlord were a song, it would be a ballad played before the ears of angels amongst a neverending starry nightsky. There are many beautiful aspects of Overlord, but the one that stands out the most is the side cast. The amount of development that undergoes these characters following the reincarnation of Momonga is a gallant journey with so much emotion and thematic expression that gives each side character their own spotlight and dedicated pull on their new world.
The only negative facet I think anyone with a functioning brain could make was the below average utilization of CGI for some creatures. But other than that, this story will always remain to be the #1 most enjoyable anime and the greatest isekai of all time.
And if that's not enoug…

There is no need to review Overlord. All has already been said about it. Overlord is now recognised as a classic in the animation and light novel worlds. The number of animes Overlord not only inspired in every genre but became popular due to the inspiration is enormous. It has to be in the hundred thousand. This season alone, there are at least two animes inspired by it.
What is great about Overlord is that It gets better every season which is rare. It's not the only show like this but usually the majority of shows gets worse over time.
Overlord does not become stale because of three reasons. First, the characters. The characters make a show. You can have the most beautiful animation in the world but with trash characters, the show is still trash. Overlord has a lot of characters which…

We've gotten to the point now with Overlord that the show has officially become extremely stale and the fanbase itself it starting to turn on the show.
The biggest issue with the show is, like many people have already alluded to, and you can already guarantee that I'm going to bring up, is the fact that the main cast of characters are way, way too strong for everything else that's going on around them. There's absolutely no suspense, no drama, and no point to anything that's going on in this entire show. It's crazy to see how badly the show has fallen off from what the show could have been in Season 1. In Season 1, we compellingly see Ainz go up against a manner of issues that he has to face and did not feel at that point that he was so powerful that the show basically didn't have a point…

Boring. Boring, Boring, Boring!!!
There truly isn't anything more to Ainz Ooal Gown, and in season 4 he becomes even less of a character in his own story. Just a (presently) catatonic office worker.
At least if Ainz was truly evil. Devious, scheming. You know, the good ol' super villain character? Instead he's just incompetent, stupid and weak-minded. 90% of Evil in this series is done in the name of Ainz being afraid of disappointing people he don't even consider people in the first place.
This is of no importance though, as he is too OP to ever be affected by his vices.
Completely spoiler free review. No point talking about the story, nothing happened much between season 3 and this. There is no point in reviewing the art, story or music separately. I am not an art critic and I will…

Story :
Overlord IV adapts Volumes 10, 11, and 14 of the light novel, while Volumes 12 and 13 were already covered in the movie Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom. This season continues Ainz Ooal Gown’s journey to expand the Sorcerer Kingdom and create what he calls a utopia. While the concept sounds noble on the surface, the execution leans heavily into political manipulation, power displays, and unintended consequences that keep the story engaging.
The first arc focuses on Ainz strengthening his position on the continent. He sets his sights on the Baharuth Empire and, through a series of misunderstandings, ends up turning the entire nation into a vassal state. His goal was simply to recruit adventurers and test himself against the Martial Lord, but the Empire's ruler, Ji…

This is my first review, please forgive any mistakes.
I think Good at early season, bad at last season, very disappointed. Lack characters development, story too short in last season so many not get animated. Even the story get boring in last season 4.
I dont know why the story get bad as new season coming. Story not unique, art style not fitting the story, character not well rounded, character to stupid in react to situations in a realistic way not good.
It just subjective but it a fact.
My opinion is just this. Just reminder This is my first review, please forgive any mistakes.

REJOICE! For you have or will be experiencing, indulging and caressing ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
The fact it is ending soon is the most vital sign of the upcoming judgement day to the absolute state of our modern society, and it saddens me, NO! It's not only me! HOW SELFISH OF ME TO EVEN GIVE THAT A THOUGHT? HOW UNSIGHTLY TO HAVE SUCH A NARROW SOLO PERCEPTION OF THIS WHOLE SITUATION!? Please, forgive me.
This masterpiece of a world has been cursed, just as Berserk animation was. Although the improvements over the god aweful animation we bled our eyes to view were something in Seasons 2-3, at least they tried here. And I am ever grateful. To be fair, it's not easy to capture the magnificent stature and elegance that is Overlord. Can't really blame them entirely although a flame rages in my heart.…

Overlord IV is, without a doubt, one of the greatest anime ever made—right up there with Redo of Healer in my eyes. This season is a jaw-dropping 19/10, and I’m not exaggerating. Whether you’re an anime diehard or someone who’s never touched the genre, you need to watch this. It’s that phenomenal. It takes the isekai formula, flips it upside down, and leaves other shows in the dust. This is anime done right—pure and simple.
Story: A Fresh Twist on Isekai
Is the story unique? Hell yes, it is. Overlord IV doesn’t mess around with the tired “hero defeats evil” trope. Instead, we follow Ainz Ooal Gown, a ruthless, overpowered skeleton lord who’s more villain than savior. This season ramps up his domination of the New World, blending brutal conquest with clever political maneuvering. Take the…

This show manages to make its MC somehow to be both intimidating and hilariously awkward. Watching him try to play the part of the all-knowing ruler while fumbling through his own confusion is pure joy. The show leans into its absurdity, balancing its dark tone with moments that make you laugh out loud. If world domination was ever funny, Overlord makes it so.
While being trapped in a world where you’re the most powerful being, surrounded by loyal minions who take everything you say way too seriously. That’s Overlord. It’s not just a fantasy anime—it’s a comedy goldmine wrapped in epic battles and questionable morality.

ah yes, the plague of most fantasy anime nowadays:
S1: lots of fun, lots of thing happening, lots of development
S2: it gets toned down a bit but still fun
S3: stale, slow, gets political
S4: goes full political and boring. Forget all the fun, all the action, all the development and all the things happening. Here are some episode-long dialogues that nobody cares about, here are some antagonists making sophisticated plans that have absolutely no value to the fun factor of the show and no weight because you already know that the god almighty protagonist will whipe them out in a second, so why waste screen time with that. Ah, and remember those well developed characters from the first seasons? well, now they're just hollow shells of what they used to be. This season could have been a 90 min m…

Story (5) :
In this season, it seems like something is missing. I just feel bored with this sequel to Overlord. It seems like the story is being slowed down, I quite like the story of going to war with this clan or that clan or inviting an alliance with another kingdom. but haven't really felt it yet. Their meetings and planning really take a long time to execute. Then Nazarick is very strong and can't be defeated, but there are no challenges so I just feel bored. They attack other clans but also get bored, as a result the war was very boring
Characters (6) :
In Overlord there are a lot of characters, in my opinion having so many characters is not good because it makes some people forget about these characters and they are not introduced well. Indeed, in the world of Overlord it should…

This is not a full review, but rather explanation why I feel Overlord stands above the standard.
Something are good because they are good, and somethings are good because they are something that others are not. For me, Overlord is good not because I feel it objectively shines above all other in terms of story and characters (though I feel they are certainly above average), but because it scratches a very specific craving I've developed over the years with excessive anime consumption.
To put it short, I've had my fill of holy savior protagonists, the messiahs, the good boys, the infallible morally just protagonists. I am also sick to death of the edgelords that talk all dark and edgy, yet also never do no actual harm to anyone who isn't literally so evil they eat babies for breakfast. Als…

tl;dr: Another solid season of Overlord with all that entails.
Welcome back to the story of a man completely out of his depth that is very much the living embodiment of ‘fake it till you make it’. Though as an undead lich he’s not exactly “living”. This season follows him as he continues to try to bullshit his way through pretending to be much smarter and in control than he is. Though his absurdly good luck and his subordinated lack of ability to even consider Ainz as imperfect seem to be the reasons it all manages to work out. Nazarick continues to get involved with all sorts of situations where they completely overpower any opposition, often in incredibly evil ways. It’s not dramatically different to previous seasons, but there’s enough new going on it doesn’t feel repetitive. If you li…

A fancy surroundings from MMORPG-like world, fire openings, nice background music, fantastic story and really good jokes.
This isekai brings a lot of fancy things together and make them work in a really interesting way. Since first season we could watch journey of main "hero" but from the bad side of the story.
The 4th season is quite an exception in the entire story - or possibly the beginning of something even more interesting? I probably didn't have an episode where I wouldn't laugh at least a bit. Those situations and jokes are something that will catch you off guards and make you enjoy few hours of pure joy.
Story in this season finally runs forward at a nice pace without some annoying aspects and Ainz, naturally, is even more confused than before.
One of the really amazing thin…

After whatever the eff season 3 was supposed to be, season 4 is back on track.
It actually focuses on Ainz and his team and doesn’t allocate 90% of screen-time to uninteresting characters and their menial lives.
You get to see other characters but it doesn’t overstay its welcome.
Although there is a lot of focus on diplomacy and politics its not boring. Ainz is focused on creating allegiances from many different warrior races. But also looking to find if there are others as powerful as him.
The writing is good. The characters are entertaining.
Its nicely paced. And funny.
At no point in any episode did i start to yawn, unlike the previous season where i could barely focus on the boring story.
