"what if we combine the pop culture references of a family guy cutaway, the absurdness of gumball, the pacing of a YouTube skit, and mixed it all together?"
I remember catching this show on toonami back in like 2018, and I hated this show so much. I just thought it was stupid and confusing, and id always turn the channel off and go back to playing advanced warfare or smth. anyways fast forward a little under a decade later, and I catch this show on my Crunchyroll, and I go ahead and give it another try. when that first bob epic team skit came on (I think it was the one with them feeding the hippo), I felt like Danny devito in that always sunny clip, "oh my god...... I get it.". after that point I was laughing practically non stop for most of the season. sure, there were some stinkers and…

Even if you can't get down with this type of humour, you have to appreciate the amount of effort that went into this adaptation, the different artstyles, animation styles, the live action segments, stop motion... the fact that there is two different versions, one with male voices and other with female voices, while constantly changing seiyuus for each one, is truly an experience. Just for that, I gotta give it to them. It's an amazing watch. Jokes won't always land, but it's truly an experience. Highly recommend.
Apparently I need more text than this so I guess I'll keep glazing it a bit more. Idk. Watch it. Its good.

Hoshiro Girl Drop is a cliché but interesting musical idol anime. The last few episodes get pretty hardcore, from disappearances, memory problems, near-death, and a marriage proposal. The good thing is that a second season has already been confirmed :,D
Well... no... that's just the joke part of the real Poputepipikku anime... which is a comedy anime based on parodies and the first random things the guys came up with.
Personally, I don't really like that type of anime. The parodies and grotesque sarcastic humor don't appeal to me...
However, I loved seeing the wide variety of animations they used in their series. I did like that...
And so, if you like parodies and dark sarcastic humor, this one's for you.

It is Recommended for those who dares challange the absurdity of japan shitpost show.
Very likely you will love this one, it is one of those show that has no context yet interesting to watch. the visual it self may be not into your liking because the show is very cartoony just some jokes lying around then animate it. there is no Plot, it is shitpost imo. the characters just some bunch high school girls adventuring some goofy ah world. the voice actor is also one of the thing that keeps me amazed, they showed how this show is gold. Well.. folks if you didnt watched it yet, then try it .

I always like to start my reviews off with a brief personal tangent, in order to give a bit of extra context for why I feel a certain way about a series. And this one...this one's got some baggage. In fact, despite not having watched a single second of the show until just yesterday, it wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration to say that this anime
ruined the past few years of my life.
Yes, really. Back in ~2019, I was browsing TV Tropes and managed to stumble upon the page for this show. Seeing the cover for the first volume of the manga, and seeing the two main characters flip me off, caught me off-guard and I closed out of the tab immediately. For the next few weeks, that was all I could think of, those two adorable anime girls telling me to eff off. Eventually, it was too much. I open…

Pop Team Epic is commonly referred to as "Garfield as anime" or "Family Guy as Anime", but I think it is something that both pays tribute to its comic-strip origins and builds upon it. The VAs (both male and female) bring something new to the table with every sketch, and the producers seem willing to try anything and everything to make the experience fun for all. My favorite episodes (no spoilers) are all novel in their presentation, like Hellshake Yano, The second iteration of "forest cabin", and the Mafia skit towards the end. It is not for everyone, comedy is, of course, subjective, but as someone who grew up reading sunday comics in my local paper, I feel a definite love for the feeling Pop Team Epic portrays. Great job all around, highly recommend.

That certainly is an interesting experience. Comedy is subjective so not everyone is going to find this funny but honestly I don't know if my sense of humour is broken but I do actually laugh at some of the skits like the Donca Sis segment or the Marilyn Monroe skit. What I can acnowlege the show does really well though is the different unique animation styles they're using like the puppets, eight bit pixel animation, skecthy 2d style and others. The hellshake yano flipbook segment is also really creative and cool.
Howver, sometimes the anime can be too self aware like I appericite it knowing that it's shit but maybe they might of overplayed the meta a bit too much like there's at least one joke in every episode where they called out themselves for being shit and it can be really tiring…

I like Pop Team Epic. I think it's funny.
You might not, and that's okay.
What you and I think is good anime is subjective anyway.

This series is made up of short skits starring two schoolgirls with attitude, Popuko and Pipimi. The humor is about 50% pop culture references and 50% general absurdity, and often you'll be unable to tell which are which as some of the references are quite niche. Each episode is 11 minutes but broadcast twice with different voice actors for the two girls (a set of male and female voice actors for each episode). Every episode has one longer bit, several short sketches, and often a short musical number. There are parodies of other anime, manga, video games, Hollywood films, and anything else imaginable.
"Anime Robot Chicken" is not an entirely unfounded co…

Dear god, I’d like to confess something before getting into this. At the point of writing this review, I have watched over 200 anime and read countless manga and novels in hopes of filling the hole left by said shows. Frankly, I believed nothing could really faze me.
Boy was I wrong.
In terms of what it offers, Pop Team Epic is like 4chan. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes annoying, and almost always trolling. You get to see pop culture references pulled for reasons you couldn’t find with the Hubble Telescope. You get to see crassly drawn high school girls with literal UwUs on their faces threaten haters of the show with spike-studded baseball bats. You get to see an…

Yassified Space Dandy. Truly this is the LGBTQI+ representation we needed in lieu of Citrus.
Citrus:
1 x blue-ish haired girl
1 x blonde girl
1 x school aged
Pop Team Epic:
1 x blue haired girl
1 x blonde girl 1 x school aged
They're also gay for each other.
Therefore, Pop Team Epic is clearly the superior reimagining of the sexual assault genre, in that it contains no sexual assault, but is rather a well-coordinated assault on your occipital lobe.
Oh, and it has some funny bits.

Yeah, not much really to say here its a pretty purely comedic anime, and I didn't really find it funny that's about it. I'm sure it's fine if you like the jokes but I laughed at like 1% of the jokes in the anime that's nothing but jokes so not really a huge fan of this one. In terms of overall quality id probably say it's like a 7 just because its job is that it's trying to be this like skit anime where it's just the constant jokes and I might not be into it but it does what it sets out to do pretty well so id say in terms of quality it's like a 7 but in terms of my personal enjoyment it's like a 2.

Based on the gag comedy four-koma manga series, Pop Team Epic focuses on two middle school girls, Popuko and Pipimi, dealing with mundane and bizarre situations that they respond to in equally bizarre and exaggerated ways. The series is set up in two quarter-hour segments per episode with various skits featuring the two girls, with both segments playing out the same skits with the girls being voiced by male or female seiyuu in each one and usually have slightly different dialogue between segments. To my understanding, this is a deliberate choice by the show's creators as each pairing voicing Popuko and Pipimi have some sort of real-life relationship with one another involving friendship or being involved in prior projects together. The anime is mainly reliant on its absurd format with the…

there is no story, but that isn't the appeal to this masterpiece clearly.
I guess the best way to sum up what goes on would be to say everything is very stupid
every minute was so good, packed with references and shit posts
I found myself laughing audibly quite often
I think I enjoyed it because I found the things the characters to be very silly! Every second there is something dumb happening, if you think that would be funny, this may interest you
It feels like something out of a 6 panel newspaper comic (which might be what this is)
very cute anime >_< watch if you are .

this show rules. it's like if SNL were actually funny and you combined it with the eric andre show. if you've seen a clip of the eric andre show and found it funny, you will find this funny.
pop team epic is such a great show to go back to when you're feeling sad because its absurdity will make you laugh. it also keeps your attention by changing to different sketches, which i liked.
the animation is also fun and dynamic. they go from stop motion, to weird ms paint-like drawings, to the original style, to a traditional shoujo style, etc., and it miraculously works.
if you think this might be funny, watch it. if you hate fun, stay away; it's not for you. this show is for fans of absurdist humor ONLY.

Watching this felt like a drug educed fever dream, and I enjoyed every bit of it. The story? I honestly dont know, i mean... is there even a story?? I cant even comprehend it, 1/10. The art is very good. There is quite a variety of art and animation styles presented in this anime, I find it really cool, 9/10. The music in the anime isnt very memorable, but the OP and EDs are pretty good, 7/10. The characters, Pipimi and Popuko, are amazing. I also like that they get different voice actors every episode, 10/10. Enjoyment? 10/10. Overall? 10/10. y'know i kept calling this an anime but its really more of a shitpost. I also like all the references it has. Also the animeman from youtube is in it so thats cool.

(Why the hell would you need a TLDR review?)
It has come to my attention that Pop Team Epic is excruciatingly misunderstood.

Pop Team Epic
In this review, I coded it so that I have to speedrun my Pop Team Epic review before MAL has a 504 Error. Can I finish my review before MAL goes down?
Also, according to MyAnimeList statistics, only a small percentage of people reading this review have actually given this a helpful vote. So if you end up enjoying this review. Consider giving a helpful vote. It's free, you can always undo the vote later. Enjoy the review. Does Pop Team Epic actually try to be comedy 🤣 god 🙏 ? Well yes, but actually yes. However, one could look at Pop team Epic as more than just some gag anime. It is a way of life. The a(pog)ee (who tf makes these words) of b…

"There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased that line." -- Oscar Levant, American composer, comedian, actor
The above quote defines Pop Team Epic and the gang of nutters/mad geniuses who have put their efforts into making it. Is it genius? Is it insane? When the line between them disappears, can't it be both simultaneously? This anime exists -- as things deemed to be "art" often are -- solely at and for the pleasure of its creators. Whether or not you or I "get it" is, simply put, besides the point.
The several dozen skits and shorts that comprise Pop Team Epic are a tour de force in high satire, sight gags, out-of-the-box presentation, and social commentary. The art styles vary from skit to skit based on which of the half-dozen or so crews created it. There are many…

I….don’t know what to say about this anime. I don’t want to unequally say that it’s a terrible anime, but I certainly don’t want to say that it’s great...I don’t even want to say that it’s an average mediocre anime. Whatever county you live in you have your specific kind of pop culture references to memes, art, music history, etc. and you’re going to immediately grasp what it means and why it’s funny. The only things I was able to understand were a few handfuls of references to video games and anime. But the show is deeply mired in Japanese lore, folktales, music, and just...all things Japan. I know I’m not supposed to take it seriously because I know that it’s not supposed to be taken seriously in the least, but it’s bad enough that there were extra long segments that were in Japanese. In…

This anime is surreal to the max. The best way I can describe this anime is the shows that you would find on Adult Swim at 3 in the morning. Surreal as heck.
I did like this anime for how strange it is, and the rebroadcasting after the first part of the show, having different voices and lines(? and Bob Epic Team, hell yeah!
I did not like this because, well, the story is non-existent to being bland later in the series. Plus, the jokes are bland.
Overall, this show is what it means to be lost potential. This show could have been really great, but the jokes and "story" hold it back from being great.

Pardon what I’m about to say… but what the hell did I just watch? No, seriously, what the hell did I just watch? It started out like a typical anime romantic comedy and then suddenly went into these strange chibi style mini segments with the school girls voiced by men. That was about 5 minutes of the first episode so what am I getting myself into?
The premise of this show (from what I gathered) was that it was going to try and parry as many shows as they could fit in a 12 minute episode as possible. They don’t really hold any punches. The original story was a For panel surreal comedy webcomic created by Bkub Okawa and I sort of feel like I am really missing the comedy part of the anime. This might be because of the gap between my culture and the culture of Japan. It just felt like it was…
