The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest

The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest

Introduction

At birth, mages randomly acquire one of the four "crests" that represents the extent of their magical capability. Equipped with a crest specializing in creation, a man named Gaius reached the ceiling of his potential, becoming known as the world's strongest sage. Despite his overwhelming power, he is unsatisfied with his abilities and desires to possess the mark suitable for close combat. Knowing that a person's crest is unchangeable, Gaius decides to reincarnate far into the future, hoping to alter his fate. Thousands of years later, Gaius is reborn as Mathias Hildesheimer, successfully obtaining his long-coveted crest. However, he is surprised to learn that in these times, magic has vastly waned, and the techniques that were once widely used are now nothing more than just a speck of legend. Moreover, the crest that he painstakingly strived to attain is now considered the weakest—merely dubbed the "Crest of Failure." Nevertheless, Mathias naturally exceeds all expectations. He enrolls into the royal capital's Second Academy, acing every trial that comes his way. But soon after, Mathias discovers the dark truth behind humanity's downfall into magical mediocrity—demons—and endeavors to remedy the consequence of his millennia-long absence once and for all. In short, if you enjoy anime where the main character is extremely strong and you do not really need deep explanations for why things happen, this anime might work for you. However, if you are looking for something deeper, more consistent, or with a story that actually makes sense most of the time, you should probably stay away from it. The story comes from a light novel written by Shinkoshoto, with original character designs by Huuka Kazabana. The anime adaptation was produced by J.C.STAFF. It has one of those very long light novel premises: the strongest sage reincarnates in order to become even stronger. And honestly, that already tells you a lot about the kind of anime this is. Art: 6/10 The art is normal. It looks like many other fantasy anime about an overpowered swordsman or mage.…

This show is literally just aura farming. "Wow Matty! How did you do that???" "I did that a thousand years ago, oh wait, I can't tell them that!" That is the formula for every single interaction in this show. There is practically zero story, and I actually think they wrote one on the spot. They recall this scene earlier in the show, of him as a child beating up some other kid (maybe some Royalty??) like twice, expecting us to know what it is... WE DONT FUCKING KNOW. Did they cut out an earlier scene at the last second and just forgot to remove this?? They never even provide any reasons why Matty is doing what he does, why did he go to this random academy? Why did he reincarnate? Why could he not kill that one guy during his peak, but now he can kill him super easily, even though he's si…

Good art style, not a lot of CGI except on magic circles and some particles, there also doesn't seem to be any animation flaws that I'm aware of. It started so serious but it turned out to be a mild action show. Some funny and sweet moments. The battling has layers of strategy to compensate for the MC's weakness in his reincarnated teen body but he also has the experience and memories from his previous life which still makes him a monstrous force. The demons are competent on average but still powerless. We did get a big threat at the end but it wasn't all that exciting. Still, it's quite an interesting story.

There's hints of something interesting here, but the show goes at an absolutely blistering pace, covering 6 books in a single cour of 12 episodes. At that rate it has to cut to the bone and everything ends up feeling trite and plastic. The power fantasy exists to some extent, but the situations where the MC reveals his power come so frequently that any ordinary onlooker would quickly become inured to it, so it feels fake. The supporting cast also get shortchanged, essentially having any semblance of personality blown off in the show's rush to adapt as many books as possible. They serve as little more than cardboard cutouts to glaze the MC, and the blonde chick has designated moments where she gets blushy crushy over him, but it's so compressed that it's like she's ticking it off a checklis…

This is by far the worst anime I've had the displeasure of forced consumption. I would rather gain 100 pounds and have 46% body fat then to ever sit through this level of torture that is The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest. I genuinely cannot even think of a single good thing this show has to offer other then allowing me to appreciate that some shows that I thought were bad, might've not been as bad as I thought. The character designs are worse than generic. The plot is a snoozefest. The protagonist is a soyboy but somehow the characters find that alluring. The female lead is so incredibly degrading and boring to look at she might've been generated by a ChatGPT beta model from 2019. Animation is stiff and lackluster, and somehow even the voice acting seemed dull. Terrible watch. Sta…

I had high hopes for this anime, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. The story is quite average, scoring a 6/10 — it’s not bad, but it lacks depth or any real twists that keep you fully invested. The characters follow the same pattern: they’re serviceable, but nothing stands out or makes you care deeply about them. The world-building is minimal, offering just enough to support the plot without expanding into anything memorable. Animation-wise, it’s decent. The quality is consistent, and while there are no standout scenes, it gets the job done — another solid 6/10. Overall, the anime feels like it plays it safe in every aspect. It doesn't take risks, and as a result, it doesn't offer anything particularly fresh or engaging. If you're out of things to watch and want so…

Third time the charm! I rewatched this for the third time and realized it's very good. It didn't really hit me when I watched it at first, gave it another try but still didn't do much of an appeal then I focused more on the progress and it's fairly decent, the first 6 episodes were kinda rushed that it felt like full 12 episodes ngl and the rest felt like a new season 😂 , hoping for this anime to get a new season. I'll be honest with the rating, it should be at least 7 if not for the mediocre animation(it's not really that bad, it's ok but it's not the worst).

Probably being a bit generous here but yeah let's start with the positives. + Fast/Good Pacing + Can be fairly funny sometimes + Not bad in a "discomforting way" just a typical B series. + Iris is a mood, also DIO (even in a show this "meh" there's still good VA's) + It can have "charm" kind of like how Fairy Tail is "Charm > Writing" except unlike Fairy Tail it doesn't pretend to have good writing which does make it less "frustrating" to watch than a B show that pretends to be an A or an S. Aight, here's the bad things: -The "good pacing" is sadly because of an utter lack of writing. -Kind of anti-climax/bad ending. -The best parts were in the middle of the show, not the end nor the start which... is generally the opposite of what you want. - World Building = 0 Nor does it make any sense…

I wouldn't say I hated this anime because there's far worse shows out there. However, I wouldn't say I enjoyed weakest crest. Crest was by far one of the blandest animes I have watched in quite a long time. Normally my gripe with Isekai anime is how overpowered the main character gets in such a short space of time. Crest manages to go one step further and make him OP in the first episode. I get the whole reincarnation thing as that was the reason he offed himself was to get a 4th crest, but even with his abilities not to full capacity, he's still killing everything in 1 hit. I don't mind if a show makes it so weak enemies are killed in 1 hit, especially if the MC is strong as it saves time. However, with the exception of the final episode I can't think of a single fight Matthias struggle…

It's like a very bland ice cream cone, but at the end, instead of chocolate, it's poop. The ending is so dumb I honestly felt like they went to the special needs center to find someone to write ep 11. Episodes 1-10 alone are like a 6 or a 5.8. Episode 11 was honestly a 1. And 12 was a 4. I would recommend watching it. It stars of reasonably promising, but the paceing is honestly very off, it's like seo but even faster. I don't think the writer or director understands the concept if a middle every subplot is just beginning and end. I thought that the reason they were rushing through the exposition was because they wanted to get to the good part, except it never happened 😭😭😭. The spent more time looking for a sword than in the final fight. The characters are all clichés, nothing unique…

TLDR: My thoughts... this is an anime for kids to help them get into anime for what it is, which means it makes a killer anime to watch while working if you need background noise. Is the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway because you like this genre/set-up? The story was fairly predictable if you've watched any kind of kids show. It follows the same anime troupe with a hero and fantasy. Do you think the art style is fitting for the story? Yes, but I can't remember when an anime's art style didn't match for the story it was telling. Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws and strengths, or were they unusually strong/smart/stupid? It was one guy teaching the team so naturally while the team was on screen the focus was more based around the MC. Did…

The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest This anime is one of the reasons why quality control is needed. Why are the voice actors and animators paid for something so inferior? Surely there are better uses for the money and surely better manga, manwha, or novels to adapt. I have to admit at least one thing, the basic idea with the seals and the banishment of "wordless magic" was interesting. The demons weakening and controlling the human world in this way is a nice touch. But why is everything else so disappointing? And I'm not talking about the bad animations or pacing, no that's the least of the problems. [Story 2] The storywriting in the anime is so bad, you could compare it to an Indian action movie. Nothing makes sense, everything seems forced and overdramatized. The final fight…

The story given is really not interesting, the story doesn't really stick. Every time I remember this anime I keep mixing it up with other anime that have a similar flow. I don't even understand why he has to be reincarnated, more precisely I don't even understand what his previous world was like. The main character keeps saying what the world used to be like and compares it to the world now. But the more you keep watching, the more you can't imagine the world before. You have no idea whether the world now is worse than the world before or even better.

This is a nice diversion, a wholesome piece of simple entertainment and an all around fun few hours of showtime. The main characters are goofy and likable with Mathias being close enough to omniscient but needing to start from the beginning to compete for power in all the combat and warfare. He does it intentionally, hoping to overcome limitations he couldn't surpass while still being at the top of the world. It's a decent premise that neither brings you out of immersion nor brings any deep or true points to bear. It's just... entertainment. The genre is OP main character goes through new life like you would a video game with fairly low stakes but good fun - it's not meant to stress you out or keep you glued to the screen to see what happens next. And the show seems to know what it is…

The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest Review (6.3) The story is good but the pacing is fast and a bit rushed. The animation is not suitable for anime because for me it would be better if the animation is also good.MC good leader and side characters they did their part in the story well and they are also funny to watch. The song is good. STORY:5/10 The story is too fast,it seems a bit rushed but it is well understood and especially the funny scenes are really funny. ANIMATION:5.5/10 The animation is not good, the low effects are not suitable for anime. Because in this genre of anime it will be even better if they use high and beautiful effects. CHARACTERS:6.5/10 The animation is not good, the low effects are not suitable for anime. Because in this genre of anime,it will be even better i…

An OK series, the MC is also OK, he is pretty forgettable indeed, the story is decent, and the other side kicks of the MC are the same as the MC. I have a lot of mixed feelings about the season, there are some good points also but the negatives overshadow it sadly. The villains are also weak from my point of view as I have seen a lot of magic anime. The art style and the animation are decent. The magic shown are also Ok, they aren't that flashy and overwhelming when you compare it to other shows. I give this series 4/10.

It's pretty generic isekai trash, but I saw Iris munch on a flower in episode 9 which made me smile. On a slightly more serious note: the characters were overpowered to be sure, but each member made up for the weaknesses of each other and there was proper delegation of responsibilities within the party instead of the MC just doing everything. They're all bland though, with not an ounce of character development. Ain't good ain't bad, I'm just an avid consumer of isekai trash so I enjoyed it. Sheesh I gotta write more? The artstyle's alright, I don't really have an eye for animation but it ain't bad. It doesn't have much fanservice so people who avoid anime with that stuff would probably be fine with this. I liked that the protagonist relied heavily on strategy and tactics, though he's ba…

The concept in itself is pretty good but everything happens way too fast and everything is too easy. If the anime was longer, I think it would be more enjoyable. There' no world building and there's no depth to the characters, the fights are insanely boring and it's always the same thing : MC is always winning because he reincarnated, thus he knows everything and find weapons he created milleniums ago super easily, etc... he is basically the only strong human and the one true savior of humanity, which is... boring. He could have made the whole adventure without his team. It could have been a great anime if more work was put into it.

it's one of the most generic animes i've ever seen, but i enjoyed it a lot. it's one of those animes where you won't enjoy it if you've seen a lot of this genre, which is the isekai genre (?). it's in no way creative or outstanding when it comes to anything. the story is generic and the characters seem fake. the main character is fine. the side characters are entertaining. everyone else is boring. i wish there were more challenges for the main character, Matty. Matty was super strong and defeated enemies with relative ease. it would've made the story just a little bit more interesting if he got badly injured or lost a fight. it might not have made sense or made the anime more enjoyable, but it would change up the otherwise repetitive plot. overall, i liked watching it, but it was fairly…

a real shame: the base story, AKA the manga, was really great, but the anime studio did a really bad adaptation, it was way too rushed and it seemed too bland and with no actual motives behind it, where the mange clearly had, and this is neither the first nor the last anime butchered by a bad execution. i would only want one thing: if you do not want to make it even as a decent job, then leave it for someone else who will. As i earlier said, the story itself was great: you had a lot of surprises on top of the main protagonist being overpowered but still wanting more, and everything was good, i know some might not really like it, and i understand, but for me, it was perfectly great: everything was within what should happen, nothing too boring, surprises everywhere, but... most of it was rem…
