Cromartie High School

Cromartie High School

Introduction

Takashi Kamiyama is your typical mild-mannered high school student—polite, aloof, and pacifistic, with a slightly above-average IQ. But would your average high school student really enroll himself at the infamous Cromartie High School, known as a breeding ground for the toughest delinquents out there? Apparently so, as that is exactly what Takashi does, though for reasons he'd rather leave unmentioned. However, one thing is for sure: the "hard-boiled rabbit in a den full of hungry lions" is never going to have another dull day. And how could he, now that he's surrounded by mohawked punks, obnoxious robots, and... gorillas? And was that Freddie Mercury riding a horse down the corridor? Follow Takashi as he earnestly dedicates his new high school life to better his school's reputation while his classmates are hellbent on wreaking havoc. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

DAILY LIVES OF DELINQUENTS WITH ROBOT, FREDDIE, AND GORI This is not a slapstick comedy, so if you're only looking for humor like the kind in Grand Blue, with exaggerated facial expressions and over the top voice acting, this anime might not be for you. But if you appreciate deadpan and dry humor like The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, then I think you'll enjoy this one. Every character here is very likable. I didn't find a single character annoying or unnecessary to the series. My favorite episode is probably the one where the MC, Kamiyama, talks about his psychological experiment on how people can notice even the simplest changes in our usual habits based on their prior judgment of us. The opening and ending songs are legendary. The only thing I didn't like about Cromartie High Schoo…

Nichijou for bad boys. Story isn't really unique. Art style is fitting for the story. Characters were all unusually strong, stupid, or just plain weirdos. Characters rarely react to anything in a realistic way (good thing). You will like it if you like absurdity and gag humor. Worth trying out. Again, Nichijou for bad boys. Hey MAL, not everyone needs 500 words to say what they think about something. I made a succinct and honest review so take the damn thing and post it. Okay I'm just adding random words now. Boobies, video games, music, weed, water, weight, kitty cat, blanket, pillow, beer, cigarette, gotta piss.

An overall enjoyable experience with an excellent dub. It’s something that is easily bingeable with friends, but not something that requires too much attention or thought. Watch if looking for a good laugh. The story is about Kamiyama, a regular boy who ends up enrolling at a school of foolish delinquents. This premise makes it seem like the other boys at school would be getting up to shenanigans, while Kamiyama acts as the voice of reason. Right? Wrong! He is just as foolish as the rest of them with a less violent attitude. Each new character does nothing but add more ridiculousness to the plot. The anime makes references to parts of the manga that weren’t adapted, but it doesn’t actually take anything away from the story. It just solidifies this show as being ridiculous. It is an anim…

Cromartie Highschool is the funniest series I’ve seen in a good while. The humor is almost entirely slapstick and gag humor, which may be seen as cheap to some people. However, I tended to not care as much because the execution of it is good. Laughter is an involuntary response, and while it can be intentionally produced, a good comedy relies on the instinctive reaction of stress relief. To find a word that is quite fitting for Cromartie Highschool would be “absurd.” No, really, it’s a series whose premise is entirely nonsensical. The series has the added benefit of episodes that are shorter than they would be in a typical series, so the twenty-six episodes felt as if they were completed in a blink of an eye. The first two episodes in particular are slow paced, but I found that the pacing…

Cromartie highschool is….strange? No. Retarded? Yes. Retarded. That’s the word. Please watch it. I gave it a 8 cause it kind of draaaaags when it’s funny, and sometimes it’s a hit or miss with its comedy. But when it’s funny? God. It’s so god damn funny. Like. Some of the funniest shit I have ever witness in my life. I could rewatch this for laughs. Secretly it’s a 10/10 but, in all honesty, it’s an 8, cause it’s hit or miss with jokes it’s dragging, and how short it is, which is, unfortunate! (They even brag in the anime how much longer the manga is which is so goddamn weird, but god, hilarious)

This show is so goddamn funny and clever that it saddens me that more people haven't seen it. I would highly recommend watching it because its really good. The only reason why you shouldn't watch it is if you are somehow not a fan of comedy. Visuals - This show has what would technically be considered bad animation. Instead of actually walking across the screen or face each other when talking, characters slide and bounce across the screen and character models are enlarged to show who is talking. Though this may seem somewhat lazy in something else, here it just adds to the comedy. Think about it, if the producers of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" could have afforded a real horse for the movie, imagine how many brilliant jokes would've been lost. The bizarre backgrounds and jerky moveme…

Cromartie High School parodies the Japan's obsession with High School and youth. The cast is composed of absurd characters, from robots, to gorillas, to a strangely familiar and shirtless individual. The show's format is that of a SitCom. Each episode is 12 minutes short. Choosing one theme that it makes its central comedic point. If you enjoy absurdist comedy, then this will be your jam, even main theme is a banger. It combines Japanese folk with a spaghetti western lilt. I highly recommend this show to anyone, even people who don't like anime as this show transcends cultural boundaries and takes little to understand.

Cromartie High School is just weird. I remember watching an episode one day just out of curiosity, and it dropped my jaw with that opening 'pencil' scene. The characters are as equally absurd. There's a guy whose hair (a Mohawk), for some reason, always flows in the air in ridiculous ways and the serious facial expressions that might remind you of old 80s & 90s character designs, there's a robot named "Mechazawa", a mute muscled-man named 'Freddie', a mascot character who's straight up a Gorilla, and the list goes on. The character archetypes alone can make enough comedy for 3 episodes. Each episode has somewhat of a setting, a somewhat of plot like riding a bus, saving a friend or just a bunch of daily life stuff like conquering the entire world, but the characters mix into this familiar…

This is my first review ever I love crazy out of context anime each character has its quirks and we have “Freddie mercury” that I really like. The animation is JoJo bizarre style type with a dramatic design the animators use the budget efficiently. Delinquents are quite entertaining as a premise but with wacky comedy is even better. I’m a sucker for breaking forth wall so it’s a plus for me. I watched both dud and sub and they were solid my fav character was mechazawa so both VA where on spot with his voice. The conclusion is absurd insane comedy such as Cromartie high school is my get to go anime. Peach out!!

I think some parts were pretty funny, but some episodes are fillers straight retarded. If a few words, this anime had too many extra episodes. Now, if the director would've cut some episodes you would've had a fine comedy. I voted 7 because some parts were hilarious but I firmly believe this anime is average and just for the boiss. There's a robot in the anime and everyone thinks the robot is like a human and some episodes were specifically about the robot in action scenes and some other boring asf stuff where nothing really happens and you are supposed to laugh for any ridiculous reaction of a character... This anime is for you if you already watched all other anime comedies and you have a lot of extra time.

This anime certainly is a one-of-a-kind in the world of comedy, a really witty comedy anime involving high school delinquents. There's no certain story nor the narration is linear, but the series revolves around the main character Takashi Kamiyama who joined a high school named Cromartie High School which is a den for the Tokyo delinquents. Kamiyama who's a decent guy adapts to be in the atmosphere of the delinquents by actually being himself. The series is about the routine of the delinquents in Cromartie High school which involves many bizarre characters. Cromartie has many rival schools with whom they fight a lot like a real gangsta novel, which is too hilarious and well put. The direction is good and the timing of the delivery of the lines is just perfect, the production is on a low…

OUTSTANDING COMEDY ANIME! I watch this series at least once a year since I've been introduced to it. I find it hard to put into words how I've felt watching this every time, but one thing I'm sure of is that it makes my cheeks and stomach hurt from smiling and laughing so hard. I also feel like this is the rare kind of anime where you can watch it with Japanese VA and enjoy it, then watch it dubbed in English and enjoy it again! Also, because it's a comedy, I feel that the art has stood the test of time. It can look a bit dated but the art style itself is used so well for many of the gags in this show.

The first abridged series uploaded to YouTube was YuGiOh! Abridged by LittleKuriboh in 2006. The first abridged series ever, however, was Cromartie High School in 2005. Each episode clocks in at 10 minutes, a shortened view time to other series. The humor feels slapstick: visual quality is sacrificed for the sake of comedy, often intentionally. The story is a parody of high school anime. All characters have gimmicks. Honestly, this is the quintessential abridged series, before they became a thing. The only reason this doesn't get a 10 is 'cause the humor is hit-or-miss. Won't tickle everyone's fancy. That said, this show is very approachable and doesn't require great commitment for a quick episode or three. Hands down the best comedy anime I've ever seen, doubt it will be surpassed.

Hilarious and deep at the same time, even though Sakigage ! Cromartie is a parody of the deliquent stereotype and also a kinda of homage/parody to Otokokuju, it has its own identity and a couple of philosophic questions inside it over the top crazy plot of a school for deliquents that has : A muscular Freddie Mercury that doesnt speak, a gorila (yes, the big monkey), a robot and his little brother (called beta/mechawatt) and a strong bancho(gang leader) that cant travel cause he gets sick inside vehicles, even though he loves school trips ! This anime is so crazy that will make you fall in love with it, the characters are totally parodies of cliches while they have an certain characteristic that makes the very unique, like the dude who is pissed of 24/7 at the street, but is a nice guy tal…

So I'll be the first to admit that comedies aren't really my thing, but I was on something of a delinquent anime kick, and literally every rec list pointed me in the way of Cromartie High School. And I have some thoughts. Cromartie is an anime that I didn't know I already knew. I started watching and found myself saying shit like, "Oh, THIS is the anime with Freddie Mercury in it", or "Oh, I remember that cup meme." There's a couple things that really stick in my head, like how blatantly weird the characters' behavior is, or all of the little animation gags (I laughed every time a character came into frame and their ear just... kept going). The comedy was quick and snappy and didn't keep you sitting around waiting for a joke, while also not being too busy, which is difficult to achieve…

I wound up watching this on the behest of a friend on the promise of how hilarious this was. I am very glad to announce he was very very right. Cromartie High School is a zany off-the-rails fever dream of a show wearing the skin of an episodic slice-of-life comedy set in a delinquent school. I'm normally not a big fan of what I like to call "drug trip comedy" where things just make no sense and gags will come out of nowhere, but CHS pulls it off every freaking time. Don't expect a lot of substance or a plotline. It's just weird adventure after weird adventure with little breathing room as everything just builds up on top of itself. The characters themselves are just fleshed out enough to be distinct and be a little more than stacked tropes, but not so complex that any wacky things they d…

Have u watched Daily life of high school boys? This is delinquent's version of that. Cromartie High School has toughest delinquents in this story. There many weird things happens everyday. MC Takashi enrolls there and does every dumb thing as serious. As expected nowadays some gags too old but some of them are good. There's no main point in this anime just full of comedies about sarcasm of delinquents. Animation was bad as expected. Too old. But art is ... fine. Even 10 or 15 years passed old one's voice actresses not bad. My boys did dumb and dumber things in this full of series. But i enjoyed a bit. Maybe you can waste ur time for some old comedy series.

Story: Where a normal looking student Kamiyama, goes to school an arrow full of yankees. And there is a, a robot with badass voice, a gorilla and a middle-aged foreign man. (ABSOLUTELY 10/10) Art: Art was at normal level. There is not much I can say about it, the output is quite good compared to the year. (Art 7/10) Sound: I love the opening song. It is a very good idea to adapt such a serious song to comedy anime. (Sound 8/10) Characters: The characters are all amazing. Especially Mechazawa and Freddie. And what really amazes me is the main character. I thought of Kamiyama as someone who complained about the constant environment, but I think he was one of the most freaking characters in the anime. (10/10) Enjoyment: The face expressions is killing me. In particular, Kamiyama's serious…

Long story short it is a great comedy, but terrible anime. For ones who are interested in more details... I propose to think what makes a good comedy anime, good? Your innate answer would be jokes, and essentially you are absolutely right in your thoughts, but aside from that the comedy ANIME just like all other genres needs to fit in strict time limitations, provide good visuals, have a good sound work etc. Which were the breaking point of this show in my opinion. So let's go through all of them step by step: Story - 1: Whereas story in purely comedy show is not essential, i think that this is the right section to explain why time limitation is such a severe problem for comedy shows. Fitting anime into the frames of episode is not an easy job, but while in the most shows you can creat…

This one's a bit of a hit or miss. You'll either really love it and think its the greatest comedy ever, or it'll kinda just make you smile sometimes. My experience falls into the latter. That being said I have developed a fondness for this show through a sort of self imposed Stockholm syndrome. I finished this because someone I respect really likes this show and I wanted to like it too. Overall you'll know if you like it after 3 episodes. Most people like it. But from what I've heard if you like it you will LOVE it. Its worth checking out. I'd give it a 6. (which is a better than average score) REDUNDANT SHIT: Animation is garbage but only for the sake of enhancing the comedy Characters are jokes Story is episodic Sound is the same as the animation (its worth mentioning the OP and E…
