The second season is the same as the first season. The main and side characters all get lots of screen time and behave the same way as before, just in new situations. A few new side-characters are introduced, but they're not very relevant to the overarching story. It's all the same awkward comedy with some light romance on top. If that's what you want, then the second season is great.
However I expected more. To me the comedy had worn off after the first season. Romance naturally takes over as the main plot, since Komi's goal to make 100 friends was a trivial matter to begin with, given her almost supernatural popularity.
So I expected character development and some light romance. A little bit does happen in this regard, but not nearly enough to be worth an entire season. Many episodes ar…

A very strong second season of Komi cant communicate.
Where the first season wasn't much of a romance and more of a slice of life comedy mix where Komi went through her day to day life trying to make friends, The second season definitely focused more on the dynamic of the relationships between the characters and I was all for it, something about their charming and comedic moments together was so wholesome, Every episode of this season was packed full of amazing and comedic moments that were a blast to watch through, seeing all these likeable characters engage together and seeing such a wholesome dynamic was really heart warming to say the least and makes me crave for more.
This anime is a must watch for anybody who enjoys slice of life and or comedy and romance. It is an incredibly stro…

As someone who's followed Komi's journey from the beginning, I was blown away by the show's consistent excellence. This season is a beautiful exploration of social anxiety, friendship, and personal growth.
The animation is stunning, with vibrant colors and expressive character designs that bring the cast to life. But what truly sets Komi apart is its thoughtful storytelling. The show tackles complex themes like communication disorders, empathy, and self-acceptance with remarkable sensitivity.
Komi's character development is particularly noteworthy. Her gradual progress from a silent, isolated student to a confident, expressive individual is genuinely inspiring. And the supporting cast? Absolutely lovable! From Tadano's unwavering support to Najimi's infectious energy, each character adds…

Story: 7/10
The story is pretty standard—your typical romance. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it's still enjoyable and keeps you hooked.
Characters: 9/10
The characters are definitely the highlight. I love the new additions, especially Katai. They bring fresh energy and uniqueness, making the show even more fun to watch.
Art: 9/10
The art remains fantastic. It hasn't changed much, but that's perfectly fine because it's already great. The visuals truly enhance the overall experience. Overall: 8.5/10
Season 2 is a solid improvement. With awesome new characters and beautiful art, it’s a must-watch for romance fans. I'd definitely recommend it!

Second verse same as the first; if you liked Komi Can't Communicate Season 1 you'll like Season 2. If you didn't like Season 1 you won't like Season 2.
"More of the same" can easily be used as an insult but I think in a lower stakes Slice of Life like this one it's actually a compliment. Season 2 keeps with the formula of Komi experiencing various different social difficulties and making new friends across an episode, rinse and repeat. However, the frequent introduction of new, strange students with different social problems than her keeps it fresh and fun.
This isn't to say that I don't think there were improvements made. The animation seems better, the new characters were even more dynamic, and the jokes were funnier. I think it took what I liked in Season 1 and amplified it, making an…

I think I started the show because the idea of a socially awkward girl trying to find her own voice and make a 100 (!) friends sounded interesting and fun.
Many aspects, like where she wanted to ask a question but was too shy or embarrassed to do it, or when she was overthinking her actions and second guessing herself and losing sleep over her thoughts, and when she tried her best to say yes to others to get involved in their shenanigans even if that 'yes' was communicated through notes, all that and much more was what I found a bit relatable and what I liked a lot about the show.
The characters grew on me and Najimi's voice actor did a great job in making her (him?) sound hilarious. I also loved all the pun-names of all the characters, specially Tadano Hitohito xD
It was a little slow…

Komi Can't Communicate second season. This was definitely a season in anime.
I will give one reason why I enjoyed it:
**Comedy**
I am a Slice of Life Fanatic. This, is Slice of Life. That does not mean I do not have my gripes about it. I will get to that later. But at the end of the day, this slice-of-life anime made me laugh. And I enjoyed it.
Gripes: They do not really go into the main plot point of the anime: 100 friends. They touch it once. That is all.
They do not even update us apart from an instance.
The new friends? Who are they? I do not know. Thats a problem I have. What do you consider a friend? A person you know? Then everyone is friends with everyone. She made some friends Komi made, she talks to them like once or twice.
The Music: Op better than season 1
The animat…

"Communication is a skill you can learn. It's like riding a bike or typing. If you're willing to work at it, you can quickly improve the quality of every part of your life."
I want to make it clear that this season brought a huge improvement to the show, it stopped being a little comedy without salt and showed moments that were cool to see with significant scenes, which will not happen in the previous season.

Story: No meaningful story progression. The main characters still have their goals of making Shouko have 100 friends. What changes and the events that happen during the course of the show, in them there is an advance in Shouko's relationship with Tadano, and in the way she interacts with other classmates.
This jump in progress that occurs fr…

Personally, I think some people are too critical over the reviews for this show.
I really enjoyed both this and season 1 of Komi. I will admit, I found the first season to have a little more substance and I found it a little more exciting to watch, but I loved and thoroughly enjoyed this season too.
The animation is gorgeous, the opening is adorable and so is the ending. I don't think it is a show that needs heavy criticism- it's a feel good, wholesome show that I think everyone should give a chance.
It appropriately demonstrates someone living with anxiety in a beautiful way and it is heart warming to see her progress as the show moves forward. I am a big fan of both the anime adaptation and the manga of Komi and I hope another season is underway!

I owe you all an apology.
My first review of Komi Can’t Communicate did not do it the justice it deserves. I did not address what was distinctly wrong with Komi.
What’s wrong with Komi-san? Shallow characterization aside, her problem is that she is afflicted by severe social anxiety, and no one takes that seriously. Every episode begins the same; the narrator will cut in to tell us “what a communication disorder is.” Their definition is “Communication disorders cause difficulties in communicating with others.” If that reads like gibberish, it is. They’ve not researched mental disorders for a show that preaches about anxiety and in turn created an offensive portrayal of anxiety. Komi’s perspective is reduced to close-ups of her one vacuous expression. Not every anime will have accurate po…

English.
It is an anime that I really do not know what it wants to do, according to the trigger of the plot is that Komi has 100 friends but in truth that is not the focus, but more a love series and a series that you see eventually, if you did not see each chapter every week that came out it will cost you work to start it since nothing interesting happens in the entire anime.
What shines the most is the animation since it has a great style and it feels refreshing compared to anime from the same era.
In my case, I didn't like this one, the story is predictable and although they put in the social anxiety thing, they don't really give it so much relevance, it's just a trigger in the whole plot.
To conclude I will say that this is a generic love anime that although it gives some interesting i…

I'll keep it a buck fifty with y'all.
This anime is literally not for anyone who is not into slice-of-life anime. I would give it an 8 on MAL if I could but it just misses the mark a little too much. In my mind, a 7.54/10 is the most ideal for this show. It is a pretty well-rounded anime with comedy, school, adventure, and even a little drama and romance as subtext when the need arises.
If you're bored and not finding anything to watch, then you can simply binge-watch this 12-episode anime. No episode is too boring. As a matter of fact, despite it being quite simple, every episode manages to keep your eyes glued to the scene until the end.
You don't usually want to ask for more because of its lack of next episode preview but you know it's not going to disappoint. It is in no light a mas…

Is it just me that found that this season felt very pointless... I truly enjoyed the first season! It had great character development and you got to see this unique relationship that grew from it. We got to learn more about each of the main characters and that was great.
This season on the other hand felt like it was not really doing anything in regards to character development. It felt like the second season was just season one part two with little to no development. I think they might have phones it in on this season. The first second really did have all the foundation laid for true development between all the characters but all it did feel like was the entire second season was filler, nothing changed.
I did expect more from this series but if they are planning on doing the same thin…

I always have mixed feelings with romcom anime. Their use of comedy and writing can be either good like Kaguya-sama or poor like Rent-a-Girlfriend. Those kinds of anime, in my opinion, are in 2 sides: good or bad... then there's Komi-san which surprisingly isn't bad but... at the same time, far from a good one. The last time I watched the first season, I got bored simply because the comedy got stale and the writing felt rather basic. What about the second season? Will my thoughts be different? Well... only one way to find out.
Before I get to the writing quality, I just wanted to talk about the artstyle for a while. The artstyle, while I do really like the visuals surrounding the show (JoJo references lol), didn't click well with me. Character designs look rather shallow just for Komi's l…

*contains minor episode 11 spoilers*
i just want to bring up something i don't see discussed much
the plot aside, what happened to the animation? just beware that after episode 9 (by far my favourite, we get a lot of scenes of komi just having fun with new friends) the animation declines so much. some panels appear so distorted that it's genuinely disturbing. it's most noticeable in those chibi looking close ups and SIDE PROFILES. overall everything just seems janky and hastily put together. i'm hoping they fix it before the blu-ray is released atleast.
they made a concerted effort to include as many characters for komi to "befriend" in episode 11. specifically these two characters who are facing some issues but after an encounter with komi, she magically resolves their problems. i fou…

+ People said that having a good look meant that you already winning in life, it is true but if you got severe anxiety like Shouko Komi those things meant nothing. It is portrayed in this anime really good, it still needs the will to change from oneself and kind understanding people around too.
+ Shouko's design is unique compared to other characters in the series, she is portrayed like modernized pretty girls from the '80s and '90s anime (e.g. Sailor Moon), but her looks will "change" when she is in a relaxed mood and much more in line with other characters.
+ The series itself did a great job to give context and portraying how Shouko (and other characters that have anxiety) communicate, whether using on-screen context, narration, or just a slight gesture from the character. But that al…

Finally ! Komi Can’t Communicate Season 2 ! One of the most highly anticipated animes of the Spring 2022 season. I was a little late on it, but I had several other shows on my to watch list. However, I managed to finish up all 12 episodes pretty quickly.
And what did I think?
It was good. Not great. But good.
I didn’t write a review for the first season, so either you can believe me when I say that I gave the first season an 8 or you can take a quick peak yourself on my list.
I gave this season a 7. And I have my reasons why.
Story - 8/10
The story and the layout of season 2 are pretty much the same as season 1. Komi is trying to achieve her goal of obtaining 100 friends, and she has her friends from the first season assisting her and going through everyday highschool life right…

While for the first season I felt especially at the beginning it was not matching up with the acclaimed manga I had heard it to be, I felt it got progressively better as it went along. I am not a manga reader of Komi mind you just anime only so my judgement is based on what I experienced not really on how accurate a source it is. That being said I really felt all the characters and situations in this season of Komi ended up being either good, funny, or moving which led to an overall magnificent season. For this season especially there are some characters who i usually find cringe inducing that delivered on some funny jokes such as yamai or agari. I think for myself that this season was worth watching if you were somewhat disappointed with the first.

After an incredible first season, it was announced very quickly that Komi Can't Communicate would be back for another season, with more time for Shouko Komi to add to her ever growing list of friends! I'll assume you've seen the first season for the purposes of this review.
Story & Characters: Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 continues our story of how Komi continues to go about high school life, more specifically, her first year of high school, with way too much social anxiety to communicate with anyone in ways that doesn't include her pad of paper. We get to see Komi in different settings around her high school life, most of which don't even take place at the school itself. These include her house, and even on a class trip. After the first season mostly took place at school, this does mi…

My exposure to slice-of-life romcoms has been pretty limited until this point. As I continue to watch more and more in the genre that I like (Such as Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun), where my tastes like becomes ever more clear: Besides the need for a solid narrative hook, style trumps everything else in importance. I don't mean to say that substance needs to be sacrificed for style, but the latter is the core piece for me of creating immersion in slice-of-life material with a light tone. Fortunately, Komi Can't Communicate nails this perfectly.
The first part/cour/season partially succeeded with a strong narrative hook; Komi's godlike complex created from minute one within the school felt fresh and witty, and luckily maintains a "wholesome" feel that doesn't soil the dynamic (The few moments/…
