Tsukigakirei

Introduction

With a new school year comes a new crowd of classmates, and for their final year of junior high, aspiring writer Kotarou Azumi and track team member Akane Mizuno end up in the same class. Though initially complete strangers, a few chance encounters stir an innocent desire within their hearts. A yearning gaze, a fluttering heart—the hallmarks of young love slip into their lives as fate brings their paths to a cross. However, though love is patient and love is kind, Kotarou and Akane discover it is not always straightforward. Despite the comfort they find in each other's company, heartache and anxiety come hand in hand with pursuing the feelings in their hearts. With the uncertainty of how the other truly feels as well as the competing affections of those around them, the road ahead is unclear. Even so, under the shining light of a beautiful full moon, Kotarou gathers his courage to ask Akane a single question, one that forever changes their quiet relationship. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

In the world of revolutionary stuff, unusual tropes, and mind-blowing ideas, just a regular romance story might seem boring. In a sense it is the same as a fork you use for dinner every day, which is boring, or the same as shoes you wear to the job every single day become a totally uninteresting sight, yet there is a great deal of work making common stuff into something top-tier. This anime is about it, crafting a high-quality story off a repeated countless times idea by pouring your heart and soul into it, turning it brilliant. As master craftsmanship work is valued, though the person makes one and the same thing all his life, making the best of a common romance story deserves a place in my eyes.

Inoffensively cute and introspective, but ultimately lacking in dramatic volume. With a declared focus on the relationship between two awkward introverts, Tsuki ga Kirei truly shines in its ability to characterise entirely through intimate, soft-spoken moments. However, in spite of an introspective tone, realistic character work and a rare comfort with giving silence its due, this quiet romance suffers from a lack of drama beyond its main duo, increasingly evident over its runtime. There’s a clear sense of progress and tangible characterisation, but it can also feel like little lands or lingers beyond innocent ups and downs in an admittedly sweet relationship.

tsuki ga kirei start like a Common sweet rom-com but end up one of my favorites, i like laoundraw's illustration the character design reminds me Kimi no koe wo todoketai art style. Studio Feel. is an underrated studio, The direction of this anime is gorgeous i know the 3DCG is annoying but I don't care. Characters feels real, Chinatsu is one of favorite, she is kind, cute and lovely, i think akane was a mirror of all girls in her age, she act, Laugh, Cry. The Ending Was Beautiful, it mentioned Natsume Souseki, Osamu Dazai, and every episode titles is a title of a book.

Tsuki ga Kirei is one of the most heartfelt and realistic romance anime I’ve watched. What I love the most is how simple and natural it feels. It’s not like many modern romance shows that are overly dramatic or flashy — instead, it focuses on quiet, sincere emotions and the subtle growth of first love. The story follows Kotarou and Akane, two middle school students who slowly grow closer. Their relationship develops in such a natural way, full of awkwardness, shyness, and small meaningful moments. Watching them grow feels almost like looking back at real memories of youth. The characters in this anime are well-written. Not only the main couple but also the side characters are given depth, motivations, and personalities that feel real. Even small interactions between friends, classmates,…

Most realistic take on young love I've seen - 8.5/10 Normally I do what I call the "5 Tropes Review" for romance anime, but seeing as how this show is utterly devoid of all 5 of my most hated romance tropes, I'll have to diversify my methods. More than anything else, this show is just REAL. Aesthetically it's gorgeous: the movements are well animated, the still images are masterfully drawn, and it all gives a very immersive and realistic feel. All without using that stale shot of power lines that I keep seeing in other anime. (what IS it with the power lines?!) Bonus points for that. The story honestly doesn't even feel like a story. It feels more like a memory, like it was pulled directly from someone's journal entries. There's no fantasy element, no excessive drama, no stupid tropes or…

German text below -------------------------- “Tsukigakirei” is a twelve-part, self-contained anime series about the first love of shy middle school students Kotarō Azumi and Akane Mizuno. First inconspicuously via cell phone, then secretly after school, the two take their first steps toward each other. The series is enjoyable to watch, even though not much happens. This calm, restrained narrative style fits well with the shy mood of the characters and makes the small developments all the more significant. The animation is beautiful, the soundtrack functional—it serves its purpose without being intrusive. I would like to note very positively that there is a proper ending and not, as is so often the case, everything is left open. “Tsukigakirei” tells its story quietly but honestly. Anyon…

I believe that there is always an anime hidden somewhere which is made for you but you don't even know that it exists. That is what exactly Tsukigakirei for me. I found this anime from a random video and started watching it just because I had nothing else to watch and I'm grateful to this day that I watched it. The art style also caught my attention. Before watching it I didn't have any expectations from this anime because I never got into romance anime normally but I never saw this coming that this would end up becoming my most favorite romance anime of all time and even end up in my top 5 list of favorite anime. I loved everything about this anime how simple and realistic it was, very different from the regular cliché romance anime with lot of fanservice, very much relatable especially…

Tsuki ga kirei, ah such a wonderful show that I would highly recommend to anyone out there looking for a nice refreshing romance anime. This show is an absolute hidden gem that I have never heard much being talking about online so I wanted to write this review to let you all know how amazing this show actually is and, lastly recommend that you watch it. As of writing this it holds a special place in my heart. Personal views: I first watched this anime while in high school (ironic I know since its set in early high school). I began watching it after I heard an anime youtuber called this "The most boring and realistic SOL romance there is" and that they fell asleep while watching it. Out of pure curiosity at the time I watched the show. With my initial viewing I reciprocated these thoughts…

Tsukigakirei is an absolute hidden gem in the romance anime genre. It is slow-paced yet feels intentional, which makes the viewer feel the awkwardness between the characters. The show captures the feeling of youthfulness that I experienced during my own youth. The keyword for why I recommend this anime is "realistic." Back then, I had no idea how to date a girl, how to communicate with her, what she wanted, or how to display my feelings publicly without getting embarrassed, etc. The issues raised by the main character’s struggles with family expectations also felt very real, and the way these conflicts were resolved brought me to tears. With its good choice of music, strong voice acting, and good-enough animation, this anime is an easy recommendation and deserves a spot in my top 10 anime…

A Simple yet Beautiful Anime . It might make you lose interest at the start because of how ... " normal " the Anime feels like but it soon turns it up as it progresses . It has like the most innocent/ wholesome romance between Akane and Koutaro . It just makes u feel warm whenever they interact with each other . The way Akane makes those noises ( i love her va ngl ) and Koutaro does the same stuff a bit more awkwardly . At the start , their whole conversation seems Awkward and boring but believe me when i say that it literally makes u tear up at the end . It might have not been the greatest ending and i would have been tweaking if they ended it without the post credit scene . Touyama's OP and ED was just Beautiful . Yui's VA ( ie Touyama Nao ) just has the most Blissful voice when it…

10/10. Not because it’s loud, or dramatic, or intense. But because in its silence, it says everything. Watching Tsuki ga Kirei for the second time, after the emotional whirlwind from Now and Then, Here and There (If you know this anime… I respect you), felt like stepping out of a violent storm into a warm, quiet room filled with golden afternoon light. It was a breath of fresh air. A gentle reset for the heart. A soothing balm for a soul that just went through hell. The first time I watched Tsuki ga Kirei, I admired how sincere it was. It was quiet, a bit awkward, and just felt real like watching two actual kids slowly figure out what love is. Nothing felt forced or overly dramatic. It just unfolded naturally, at its own pace, and that’s what made it so special. But watching it a second…

Tsuki ga Kirei is what happens when two socially anxious teens make accidental eye contact and decide that’s enough to build a relationship. The boy MC stares at his feet. The girl MC stares at her phone. Together, they generate the romantic energy of a dial tone. People call it “realistic.” Yeah, if your idea of realism is watching two people silently suffer through a middle school crush like it’s a hostage situation. The entire show feels like watching two NPCs glitch into a relationship without ever triggering the dialogue tree. Both MCs have the emotional chemistry of two Roombas passing in a hallway. Half their conversations are just shy glances and single-word texts with the weight of a grocery list. It’s like romance by Morse code. The pacing is glacial. I’ve seen frozen snails m…

A beautifully understated story about two introverted 15-year-old students falling in love for the first time. It doesn’t try to be grand. It’s intimate. It offers something rare: a grounded, sincere depiction of young romance—awkward, tender, and emotionally resonant. It’s not often a show respects adolescence without romanticising or trivialising it. No melodrama. No fanservice. Just a soft, unshakable truth: sometimes love is just about having the courage to hold hands. The animation and art direction are exceptional, often feeling movie-tier in quality. Visual storytelling is subtle but powerful, with careful attention to body language and environment. The voice acting is also a standout—especially Akane's voice actress, who brings out the nuance of a shy, emotionally layered characte…

Personal Opinion I’m totally fine with the shyness of them it’s cute. But the fact that they just won’t talk to each other is so annoying. The visuals frustrated me the most. I have no problem with 3D (if it’s done well) but even the extra background characters were moving like mannequins. Some scenes had characters running with Plain face! Like, what?? I do like the art style though. The character design is super cute and fluffy—totally my thing. But once you pair that with the animation... it just feels off. And the short stories at the end of each episode? The sad part is here some of them were more fun than the actual main episodes 😅 As for the direction, pacing, and script... It was just really flat Not nearly as deep or emotional as people hyped it up to be. I did like the fina…

Straight to the point, a complete anime in 12 episodes, clearly states what it wants to do and proceeds to do it, no bs around it, concise and to the point, I really liked it. Good animation, good pacing, good backgrounds, really good in general. A good palate cleanser after a lot of shows that fail to know what to do with their rom shows, just an anime about 2 introverts that are honest to themselves. The rating perfectly sums up this show, nothing explosive happens but it is also a good all rounder 8/10 Dont forget to see the end credits texts, if they arent translated look for ones that are.

I'm not going to write a very long review because there are just a few things to say, like: this anime is for people who, like me, enjoy slow and realistic romance. While the animation isn't particularly impressive, its simple style perfectly complements the story. Additionally, the anime offers a deep insight into Japanese culture, showcasing elements like school traditions, the importance of seasons, and subtle social interactions, adding a layer of authenticity and cultural connection The characters are endearing, although their development could have been deeper. In short, if you enjoy slow and realistic romcoms and are interested in Japanese culture, Tsuki ga Kirei is an excellent choice.

Tsuki Ga Kirei is an anime that left me with very mixed feelings. As an introvert person who also struggles with social anxiety, I could relate a lot to the main characters' awkwardness, and it felt refreshing to see an anime with shy main characters, but I think the show portrayed introverts in a quite stereotipical way. Okay, they're shy, but sometimes it felt like they have nothing going on in their brain. The two main charachters didn't have much connection, and their convo topics were incredibly boring. I just can't convince myself they're really made for each other. The plot itself was also more boring than interesting, it was supposed to show the ambition towards your hobby while finding love I think, but the whole thing just wasn't clear to me. The two people that had a crush on t…

Tsuki ga Kirei is a show that focuses on young love, on the budding romance between two people who grow closer with the passing year. Tsuki ga Kirei focuses on idyllic realism of love and the various stresses that could increases the pressures upon that very same love. For those much closer to their middle school years, Tsuki ga Kirei can perhaps be a bit painful to watch, its message and core theme perhaps hitting a little too close to home. However, as one distances themselves from their youth, that wistful nostalgia it invokes will inevitably seep in. Yearning for days that were, perhaps even yearning for days that could have been; that is the tone Tsuki ga Kirei establishes with much success. It is a thematic exploration on the growing pains of love and the perseverance required to m…

This is the second time ever I got to see such a realist rom com anime.. People who don't recommend it or hate are not such fan of calm and ambiguous warmth of love... If you're a fan of slow pacing, colourful, warm series then definitely go for it... It was such a relatable treat man I was astounded... The only area of improvement was animation. Though the characters are really very young so others may not relate with this type of anime... But it's a great yes that the characters handled their situations in a very realist way showcasing real life problems that mid schoolers face during a relationship. The story writing was quite great and unique in various ways but there were some flaws that could be noticed... The CGI and art style seemed little off according to 2017 but the VA were…
