Wagnaria!!

Wagnaria!!

Introduction

Due to his love for small, cute things, Souta Takanashi cannot turn childlike Popura Taneshima down when she recruits him to work for Wagnaria, a family restaurant located in Hokkaido. Takanashi takes particular joy in doting on the older Popura, which only fuels her complex over how young she looks. He also quickly learns he must stay on his toes once he meets the rest of his colleagues, including the katana-wielding floor chief Yachiyo Todoroki, the intimidating head chef Jun Satou, the dangerously well-informed and subtly sadistic sous chef Hiroomi Souma, the adamantly lazy manager Kyouko Shirafuji, and the waitress Mahiru Inami who has a "painful" fear of men. Powered by an eccentric cast, Working!! is a unique workplace comedy that follows the never-dull happenings within the walls of Wagnaria as Takanashi and his co-workers' quirky personalities combine to create non-stop antics, shenanigans, and hilarity. This will serve as a review for the whole series, but I will avoid any spoilers. Karino Takatsu really excels at characters. The characters she writes are predictable, but kind of in a good way. Maybe consistent is a better word. If two characters who have never been on screen together suddenly meet it goes about how you'd expect, and I think that's really fun. You get a great feel for all of them, which is part of why watching them develop (even if only slightly in some cases) is really rewarding. That said this series is almost entirely character work, so if you give it a shot and don't find yourself in love with them, then maybe it's not for you. I personally really enjoy almost all of the characters; I found my favorites to be changing with each episode. One thing I feel inclined to…

A very fun watch, starting with a banger of an opening song and ending with the some tone! The characters are great too however they lack development throughout the series, yet in the premise of the series they work like a charm. The standout character has to be Aoi, even with a late introduction which in itself was hilarious really gave the series a solid boost. While introducing a new character at the very and seems like a questionable more but it was a nice touch considering it has several sequels. Ending does a good job making the viewer wanting for more of the silly fun!

This was a very fun series that made me laugh a lot. The characters are great and the development throughout the series didn't seem to lack. This is a review for all three seasons + the finale special. The standout character of the Series was Aoi, she made me laugh the most. If you are looking for a deep down romance story, this by far is not it, the situations are outrageous, but I mean that in the best way possible. If you are looking for a good time that isn't centered around being in a school environment, this is defiantly a show to pick up and watch if you can get a hold of it.

I’m only giving this show a 10 because of a dumb joke I made about the Magic Hand bit. My favorite character was Janet (Maya). Being completely serious, this show was actually pretty solid. To quote myself, “Anime has a hard time being funny”, so it’s good to see that this comedy anime is actually kind of funny. The characters are interesting and are definitely the soul of the anime. I was surprised by the recurrence of bits from earlier in the show, which isn’t common with slice of life shows. The background music isn’t bad, despite the low track count, and the art is pretty solid too. There isn’t really a story other than Mahiru’s character development, but that’s fine. I’m surprised by the quality of a 4-koma adaptation, as from what I know, they seem to be hit-or-miss. The chefs are de…

Sigh. I thought this anime would focus on a hardworking protagonist striving to improve and achieve his goals. Instead, it revolves around a main character who is constantly beaten and does nothing about it, with the justification that he is trying to "heal" a girl with a male phobia. This girl has been hitting men for over ten years with no progress, yet we're expected to believe that attacking the protagonist will somehow help her recover, when it clearly doesn’t. Episode 9 was the tipping point, revealing the author's apparent disdain for male characters (perhaps she herself has a phobia) and a lack of understanding of human behavior. Not only is the protagonist relentlessly bullied without standing up for himself, but he even enables the girl's deception by putting on a facade. He aba…

Honestly one of my all time favorite anime's and the one that got me addicted to slice of life/ romance anime's. The story progression is really good! amazing and funny characters, there is also a ton of character development in all of the characters introduced which is rare but one of the key things that makes a good anime verse a shit anime. The key thing I enjoyed about this anime is the progression of the romance aspect. It wasn't rushed, where you have the characters date in the first episode, but it also wasn't slowed down to the point where they only confess on the last episode. It allowed us to view how things are between them after they both confessed and showed us how their relationships develop over the remaining episodes in the series. Like I said what makes or breaks an an…

I love this anime all throughout each and every episode. Basically each and every character here is unique in one way or another with everyone else. This doesn't have that super deep plot, but this show offers you humorous episodes from start to finish. There are character progressions and everything is simply subtle yet fascinating. I love shows that can make people laugh one way or another. Definitely this show is pretty much enjoyable. PS. The animation is from 2010 I believe yet its just well drawn at all levels. PPS. I hope you guys give this anime a try :) definitely worth your while

I just wanted to watch a comedy-slice of life anime to pass my time,im usually more into romance-drama animes and not into comedy-ramance,but i can say this anime exceeded my expectations by much.I thought it would be just a typical anime but it was a pure masterpiece. unlike many other animes, wagnaria had a great start and a great ending and the in-between episodes where as great of course.. It had many funny moments, many cute moments, many sad moments and perfect development of relationships between characters. They didnt overdo with the romance, thus building up characters feelings made it great not to overshine other great aspects of the anime.(etc. like "horimiya" which they developeted too many unnecessary relationships between side-characters,which became quickly boring). It was one o…

This first season took me over a month to complete, not because it was especially bad or I didn't have the time... but because it was so... average. There were things that I truly enjoyed about 'Working!!', but each one was counterbalanced by a bad decision that left a disappointing taste in my mouth. This is the first time I've experienced the anime equivalent of an equally balanced scale, equally bad and great. The story is your run-of-the-mill slice of life, which to give it credit, was what I was looking for, and what I got. After several heavier series I watched this year such as Steins; Gate among others, I just wanted something with a bit of charm and took things nice and easy. The overall cast, while varying in my affections, had some real standouts in both characters and voice pe…

I watched Working!! because I wanted something similar to Blend S. It ended up being wayyyyy better. It's purely a comedy slice of life anime. This is the most fun I've had watching anime by far. Every single character has their own unique personality traits that you will love about them (Inami might be a controversial character though). However, to get the "full experience", you will have to watch all 3 seasons + the special. The ending of season 1 will leave you feeling like "it cannot end here, I want to know the rest of the story" and you will want to keep watching. Personally, season 3 was my favorite. It's also very easy to rewatch and experience it all over again.

Working!! (2010) A marvellous show for 2010 in 2021 which has aged so well you could easily believe it was aired this year. The story is a nice slice of life comedy with some drama elements that has romantic development that appears that it will take a while to improve. This is great since it won't rush ahead more than it needs to. The art is really well done and detailed for its genre especially considering it is from 2010. Like I have mentioned I could honestly see this release in 2021 and people be none the wiser. I commend the studio for its artwork. The OP and ED are great. The OP is big and fun with a nice theme. The ED feels very American in an Elvis Presley era style. The voices are superb with Yamada being a great one to note along with Taneshima. The characters all have…

Recommendation: Definitely worth watching, especially if you like American-style workplace sitcoms. Wagnaria doesn't do anything innovative with the comedy formula, it just does all of it very well. There's no gimmick to this show, it's about a group of idiots working together in a restaurant. It has a relatively small cast of characters and almost never leaves the restaurant or Takanashi's house. Despite all that, it manages to get 3 very funny seasons out of its setup and rarely feels like it's overusing stale jokes. The main reason for that is the colorful characters that populate the show. They have strong personalities and presence to the point where you almost feel like you're getting to know them as people. You'll catch yourself thinking things like "classic Yamada" or "of course…

This is a hidden gem. I think my tastes are very diferent rom the average MAL user, but I really liked it. This is 100% comedy, no plot, the characters are very simple and yet their interactions are fun to watch, even if most of the times it's so predictable. Totally unrealistic, not trying to tell a complex story, just plain funny. All the characters have some peculiarity, and the story is consistent in its inconsistency. Maybe not a masterpiece, but definitely good. And for once, it's good to see something that's not set in a high school. There is even space for some workplace romance, never going too deep, but the selling point is its sit-com punchline-based humor without the canned laughter.

This series (the first of three seasons plus a closing one-hour special) is a long form romantic comedy that has the central plot arc of how the little character flaws, complexes and baggage we carry with us interfere with the ability to develop close relationships with those around us, especially when they all have issues of their own. This is a slice-of-life show in style, similar to shows like ToraDora! and Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) except it is set primarily at a neighborhood family restaurant instead of highschool. There are fated but fraught ships keep passing in the night or crashing into each other in spite of the best intentions, support and overall kindness of the broad cast of characters. This show takes a while to develo…

Well when you are down and depressed after some sadistic anime and need some refreshment and have a large laugh out the you can watch few episode of working!!. its a slice of life with little or no character development but the cast is enjoyable and watching them having fun is really a well time spend. since they don't have any character development so its hard to get emotionally attached to the cast. the plot revolves around a family restaurant workers have various personality disorder and how the depends on each other to coup up with the situation. well their is very low or say no part of actually customer and restaurant problems but its ok.

Alright this anime tries to be a comedy, even identifies as a comedy, but there are rarely any funny elements here. What they pass off as comedy in this anime is women hitting men, whether they are coworkers, customers or their own brother, interjected by a few short person equals kid jokes. Except perhaps the mc, the motivations of characters are very unclear as to why they stay together. Theres absolutely nil chemistry between the characters, most of them driven by some ridiculous motivations to do anything. Inami's androphobia started due to the lamest reasons, and it being the major plot point of the show, a bit more work could have been put into developing that. Instead they just want to use it as an excuse for her to hit the MC and hope people laugh. It was pretty annoying to watch.…

Poor writing. Poor animation. Poor script. Bad cast. This is really really mediocre. Meta humor is fun when it is used carefully and infrequently. You cannot base an anime around 2-3 main plot points and call it a day. Working!! is a poor example of what happens when everything a show offers can be seen in the first 2 episodes. This is a common problem in a lot of anime so audience for these shows are somewhat used to it me included however for some reason I could not overlook this show. One of the girls has an androphobia which causes her to attack every male she comes close to. Nothing original there however passable. Anyway, so she interacts with our main guy and slowly gets used to him punching him countless times along the way. For the first 10 times I watched the 10 second clip of I…

A true slice-of-life anime, there's really not much plot but the interactions of the cast (though, they just seem to playing around instead of working) make it a enjoyable show. My first impression was that the cast were trying too hard to be weird. Soon, I hardly notice that they were actually weird. The way they play around made me feel nostalgic about how my friends and I used to play around in high school. The banter, even if it's recurring, seem enjoyable enough. I especially like the opening and the ending songs. It's so fun to sing along. For the characters: they are generally enjoyable. I also thought Inami's violence are a bit too much, but it did provide a drive for a plot in the story. I enjoyed it. I would probably rewatch it sometime in the future.

This anime is wonderful. I found a few characters to be irritating but that's what an anime is about, it just shows how well those characters were written and displayed. With each episode and season one grows fonder of the characters and the story. It is basically a story about a few people with strange habits or interests who work at a restaurant called "Wagnaria" and about events happening everyday. Ofcourse, a bit of romantic angle only makes it better. I enjoyed it alot. I scored it at 9 because i still there was some room for improvement, but all in all, I enjoyed watching it. Don't go by the reviews which say it's bad, you don't wanna miss this anime if you're into slice of life big time! Have Fun!
