Your Name is one of the best animated movies. You can really feel that the movie was made with love, care and passion. The main topics of the piece are memory, connection and love; three important themes for human beings. It’s one of the most important anime movies of the 2010s. I can understand why it’s considered a masterpiece.
First of all, the animation and art style are exquisite. Every landscape is drawn with care. I love how you can feel the difference between Tokyo and the countryside. I love the “slice of life” parts; they were so atmospheric that I really felt like I was in the Japanese countryside. Everything felt natural and beautifully built. And of course, the scenes in the shrine (in the mountains)… uff, they were a delicious visual experience. I can’t really find another a…

In Your Name, semiotics is deeply connected to melodrama: the dualities of time, space, body, identity, and memory are not merely abstract concepts, but are incorporated into the mise-en-scène as ways of representing the relationship between Taki and Mitsuha. The film’s strength lies in making these abstract ideas perceptible through images. The red thread, the comet, twilight, their bodies, and the spaces they inhabit form a system of signs in which landscape, light, and composition acquire meaning through proximity and separation. As a result, the fantastic and the emotional dimensions of the film become inseparable. The fantasy does not exist merely as a narrative device, but as a way of transforming abstract concepts into concrete experiences through the image.
The world of the film s…

‘Excuse me... Have I seen you before?’
That question, simple though it may be, carries a kind of magical weight. When asked that question, you feel as though your fate is somehow intertwined with a stranger. As though... You knew them in another life.
‘Your Name‘ explores that question, and what it means to be part of someone’s fate. Plot:
The plot of Your Name is a fascinating one. It’s a Freaky Friday body swap between a girl and a boy. Of course, the first thing that the boy does is touch his newfound breasts. The movie’s definitely realistic...
I went into this movie expecting just that. A story about two people coming together through this magical routine. And the first half DELIVERED. Though the pacing was a bit hasty, it was entertaining and hilar…

After trying four times to appreciate this movie, I've only found it to be one of the most boring things I've ever watched.
I've given Your Name multiple chances because of how highly it's regarded, but every single time I've come away with the exact same feeling, boredom.
The animation is beautiful, the backgrounds are gorgeous, and I can absolutely understand why so many people love the movie. But none of that managed to make the actual experience interesting for me.
And honestly, the more I think about Your Name, the more I struggle with the praise it receives for its originality.
The premise is basically two teenagers who mysteriously swap bodies and slowly fall in love despite being separated by circumstances beyond their control. It's a perfectly valid premise, but let's not pretend…

"Your Name" is a movie that is a fun romance between two people who switch between bodies and time periods. The idea of them going through the story as the two get to know each other, given the odd circumstances, is a cool idea. This movie is the first of three movies that are part of a trilogy directed by Makoto Shinkai that are known as "The Disaster Trilogy" by some.
As this movie goes on and the relationship grows, I have come to appreciate why they care about each other. And at the end of the movie, when they met each other again after forgetting each other's names due to a comet, that was when it showed that their care for each other transcends time. So if you're looking for a good movie, I would recommend it for a movie night or whenever you get the chance to fully watch and enjoy…

A transcendent reflection on human connection, yearning and loss. Though a significant part of Your Name's immediate appeal comes from its vibrant, fast-paced romance and breathtaking audiovisual presentation, its true power rests in its moving exploration of memory, distance and emotional resonance. Makoto Shinkai creates a narrative far beyond a lighthearted high-school gimmick, dissecting the agony of feeling incomplete, and demonstrating how our deepest bonds serve as the ultimate solution to the endless, silent and deeply human search for fulfillment.
Your Name is a movie built on contrast. The wildly different upbringings, lifestyles and aspirations of Taki and Mitsuha grant the story an extraordinarily charming comedic first half. While subtly profound, the film delivers its romant…

Pretty visuals. Each time I watch an anime film, I'm reminded that it's one. The story kept me invested, however, it was dragged out. I would've been happy if it were cut 15-20min. shorter. It would've had bittersweetness to it, and I was personally most touched when handwritings were being exchanged.
I dunno who should be the viewing audience of this film, but as I was seeing this in the theatre, I was thinking of what my friend's grandpa thought about this or that scene (a friend of mine took his grandpa to this film, and the other option of a film was a melodrama. He said he hates melodramas).

Does Kimi no Na wa. still hold a place in my 10 Favorite Anime and does it still deserve the 10 rating.
TL;DR YES AND YES
After not watching Kimi no Na wa. for around 4 years I'd truly forgotten why I had loved this movie so much. I was getting to the point of removing it from my top ten list and was even wondering if it was still a 10/10 movie.
I think not watching Kimi no Na wa. for so long really made this second time watch just as good as the first. I knew the story vaguely but the details which made this movie special were lost on me. I think that is what made it special, would i recommend watching this movie often. probably not unless you want to cry every time.
I wish i could put into my own words how much this movie made me feel but instead, just watch it, not just the story is b…

Having heard and watched bunch clip of Your Name back when i was a little brat but have no interest in it. Now in summer 2026,with the 10th anniversary re release , my 18 years old self was having the most beautiful and unforgettable 2 hours that i will always cherish from now on
Right off the bat, the animation is absolute gorgeous and so beautiful for the time it released, powerful music along with likeaable main character like Taki and Mitsuha, heck even side character like Tessie,Sayaka,Okudera and Fuji. The plot may be confusing for the first time for some people so is recomended to watch it more than once. To the people who haven't watched it, do yourself a favor and watch it now(I wanna apologize to anyone who get confused while reading this reviews beacuse of my bad english)

One of the most famous anime movies and for very good reason. The animation is like a sip of ice cold water but for the eyes, it's astounding. The music is powerful, conveying emotions in even the most tame of scenes, and I find myself listening to it while I write my own stories. The story is one of romance, mystery, and time travel that can get confusing so I'd recommend watching it more than once. Body swaps themselves feel like a dime a dozen, but this movie is so fresh and fun with it, and is in my opinion one of the only body swaps that deserves its romance.
Even for people who aren't a fan of anime, I highly recommend this movie. It's a wonderful film you should check out on your own, with friends, family, with anybody! I never got to see it in theaters but I can only imagine what…

I've now seen Your Name 18 times, and every time I've been left with a deep hole in my heart and the wish to be with it for even one more minute. Its warmth is like that of memories I never had, its presence is as comforting as a love I've never felt, and its colors are something I'll never see for myself. I could regret all these things and all the ways in which my life and the real world aren't how I want them to be, but instead, every time I watch Your Name, I want to keep living. After seeing its story of true love, extraordinary circumstances, and the power of human connection, the only thing my heart wants to feel is the magic of this movie one more time — and all it asks is, “is it wrong to want this for me?”
On the surface, it's a romance fantasy about two teenagers who are drawn…

A truly beautiful film. Every part of this film brings it’s absolute A game. The animation/art is breathtaking. So many good scenery shots. The music is amazing and adds so much to many scenes. Sound design in general helps fuel the movie. Characters are very endearing. You’ll fall in love with all of them quickly. The story is incredible. Just a completely unique and original film.
There’s a reason this film is held in such amazing regards. You haven’t seen anything like it. You will feel so many emotions through this journey. From extreme chills to the happiest tears. It’s a film I think anyone (even non-anime fans) could fall in love with.

Your Name. is a good movie. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s still a pretty good movie.
You don’t need me to tell you that Your Name. is a beautiful looking movie. If Your Name. has masterful qualities in anything, it’s animation. The beauty in which everything is drawn reminds you of the world’s simple pleasures, and that life is worth living (Cue Justin Bieber). I particularly loved how cosmic events were depicted, as well as the equal care given to Tokyo and Itomori. And as standard as they are, I did enjoy the character designs. Their corporate-friendly nature melds well with this movie’s shaders. I happened to catch the dub of this movie, and I think the cast did a great job. The dialogue felt natural, in spite of the script’s anime-ness. I enjoyed the two leads’ performances, Steph…

Watched this movie yesterday in the theaters. I was sad that it was showed in dub though having heard a lot of great things about the sub but the dub was still very good imo. Anyways I would say the strongest feature of the movie would have to be the visuals + art. Wow was it so stunning and beautiful and it really does well to stir emotions within you and leave you breathtaken. Especially the scenes with the comets... it was just so beautiful.
Besides the art, I really loved the concept of the body swapping and actually liked how the movie was structured. I have seen online that some people disliked the structuring the movie and found it confusing or not well done but personally, I did enjoy the weirdness of the timelines coming together and drifting apart and the mystery behind the body…

This was really great. I liked this more than I thought I would. This felt like the type of movie where the emotions might feel too try hard to be effective, but that wasn't the case. While there are plenty of scenes that very much try to build up huge emotions, the whole movie feels so incredibly genuine that nothing about what it's doing feels insincere or try hard. It naturally builds up its emotions, and uses its incredible soundtrack at the exact right times to complement the tone perfectly. The visuals are absolutely stunning, and the animation is great. The editing works really well towards putting you in the head of each character, and it knows how to find the emotional connections so well. The story was always engaging to me, and while there were definitely some weird logistical t…

This was one of those anime movies I had been saving for a long time. Every time someone asked for recommendations, Your Name was always there, and I kept telling myself, "I'll watch it when the time feels right." Today I finally did... and now I completely understand why people never stop talking about it.
If someone who has never watched anime asked me to show them one movie that captures how beautiful, emotional, creative, inspiring, heartbreaking, and hopeful anime can be, this would probably be my first choice.
I've watched quite a lot of anime over the years, but only a handful have genuinely moved me. Your Name is now one of them. It made me smile, laugh at the awkward little moments, feel anxious, feel sad, and then somehow leave me with a warm feeling that stayed long after the…

This might be the most overrated things I will ever lay my eyes on what is this moive even supposed to be like what is it the 2 main characters barely know anything about each other but love each other apparently it doesn't make sense there is barly in pay off the end is them just seeing each other the lack of a theme in my eyes made the expenses just kinda ehh. Tho the animation and the soundtrack are great but it doesn't save it in my eyes also we barely see any of the main guys life like why I know a metaphor falling is more exciting then the main characters probably mediocre life but still I wish we saw more

Your name was one of the anime movies i really enjoyed it and this anime i can say that i watched it twice i guess, first time i watched it at school in high school when the teacher put it for the entire class to watch and now too,and i enjoyed it the second time more because i watched it alone and not with every one who are making noises and doesnt care about it.
The story was perfect, nothing to say about it.
The animation was just peak,i cant hate the animation at all.
So overall Your name has a deeper meaning in my heart because i really enjoyed i and i really liked it and from me has a score of 10/10 because how emotional and how well is made and i totally recommend it to anyone who wants to see a good movie.

The popularity of this truly baffles me. In almost every respect it is so poor - the characters have zero personality and the central relationship is not built up at all, the entire film is ugly and taking constant cost-saving measures, and the plot is thin and drawn out. It is bafflingly lacking in every creative and narrative aspect and then on top of that, it casually has our male protagonist sexually assault our female protagonist every single day.
We even have a scene at the end of the movie where, now reunited, the couple hop cutely from "why are you sexually assualting me?" to "do you like my ribbon?" as if her anger and upset (very clearly expressed) about the former literally do not matter at all. Okay. I guess it's unsurprising that the producer of this movie is literally a conv…

I watched Your Name in theatres back in 2023, and it was a once in a lifetime experience. The animation was superb with beautiful backgrounds and lighting, so many frames can be wallpapers. Blends of blue and green with a shine of sunlight kissed from the artist.
It's a Freaky Friday story told on a deeper level, delving into life experiences and tragedy. It's THE Ghibli movie not created by Ghibli. Even if you don't enjoy the story or it doesn't touch your heart, the art will touch your soul. A coming of age tale that opened my mind to what is possible for the genre. This movie will have a special place in my heart, and I definitely need to rewatch it.
I recommend Your Name as a good introduction into anime, and what it's artistically capable of.
sincerely, EuphoArsTaa
