The whole time I kept trying to figure out what the point of each episode even was
The show throws you into this wild, chaotic world with no real direction episode after episode feels disconnected!!
Like a collection of random events that never build toward anything meaningful
It has so much potential, but they waste it all on being random and ridiculous instead of committing to an actual plot
The world-building is interesting enough to make you curious, but the story never takes itself seriously long enough to capitalize on it
Would others enjoy it? Maybe, if you’re fine with style-over-substance and don’t mind a show that prioritizes cool moments over coherent storytelling But if you’re looking for something with a clear direction, this will frustrate you
The intro song and animation are…

First off, you are watching a world in a chaotic almost marvel-cinematic(if you know what it is all about) world which constant chaos and the only thing preventing the fall off are a couple of battle-hardened, scientifically modified individuals fighting all of the chaos and their perpetrators using their abilities; Our protagonists being the epithet of superhuman abilties, one would see that all would pale in comparison. This is the main kicker of this anime which would keep those starting to have watch it, keep watching it.
The setting's other aspects such as human and non-humanoids interacting living together in the same society which appears to resemble the modern 21th century rather than living in their own perspective societies, appears interesting as much it does not seem interest…

Kekkai Sensen (also known as Blood Blockade Battlefront) isn't just an anime... it's a vibrant, loud experience that demands to be enjoyed. While many series build to a single, climactic narrative, Kekkai Sensen understands its true strength lies in the moment-to-moment immersion that it offers. This is a show that invites you to breathe the strange, polluted air of Hellsalem's Lot and simply exist within its chaos.
-A World Brimming with Style:
The first thing that grabs you is the sheer aesthetic brilliance of Hellsalem's Lot. This former New York City, now a porous gateway between Earth and the Beyond, is a mesmerizing blend of modern metropolis and otherworldly anomaly. The anime leans heavily into steampunk and dieselpunk-like elements, creating a unique visual language. Flying contr…

*Brief Review-Reflections*
~~
There is a bit too much *Baccano!* in here for my liking. *Kekkai Sensen* gets overboard with having too much fun in its rustic soulfulness, which though befitting the chaotic milieu of Hellsalem's Lot and for the benefit of creative direction, is too magnified that it forgets it has a story on a grand scale and characters playing different roles to progress it. Speaking of its characters, every one of them rather feel more like proxies for different types of comedic humor (with *straight man* the main filler of the uneventful minutes as always) than organic vessels of unique and entertaining personalities. They can be further simplified as try-hard badasses with unexplained sources of combative capabilities of which sprouted skills named in the spirit of a…

Best taken as a slice of life shonen anime, which is a really weird description, but most episodes in season 1 are self-contained, with very little connections to past or future episodes.
The only exception to this rule is the attempt at an overarching narrative with White, Black, and Leo (an anime-exclusive narrative that certainly feels.. not fully baked). While the characters themselves and their interactions are great, the actual payoff was simply unimpressive, almost feeling rushed by the end (despite having a double-length finale, where unfortunately very little actually happens)
However, the individual episodes themselves are absolute hilarity from start to finish, and the animation is incredible throughout the season (including the finale). Despite the weak overarching narrative,…

A lot of fun (had no idea what was going on)
Pros: Overall, I had a great time watching this show. The series has the great character expressions, aesthetic visuals, and great animation I’ve come to love from Studio Bones. The world — set in a post-supernatural-disaster New York City — is immersive and interesting, well-crafted to show how two very different worlds have begun to coexist, though not without the expected strife and prejudices from both sides. There are some really cool surrealist scenes woven throughout, reminiscent of those in Soul Eater. Though most of the characters aren’t very developed (many are one-note, including the main character, and some major players don’t receive a backstory/have their motivations revealed until close to the end), they still have great interact…

I remember starting this anime out of pure boredom, thinking “meh, I’ll probably drop it after a few episodes.” And damn, I was wrong. The story is well-written, and the world actually feels alive. Even though I first watched it around five years ago, I still think not many shows since then have managed to build such a complex and vibrant world.
The art style may seem somewhat generic at first glance, but thanks to the massive city setting and the presence of many different races, it ends up feeling fresh and unique.
Overall, I was genuinely surprised by how good this anime turned out to be. If you're looking for a stylish, chaotic, and world-rich experience, I can definitely recommend it.

Kekkai Sensen is, in general, a light, chaotic and fun adventure. Centered around a city that is connected to some other world, we see the life of Leonardo, a boy with a great power trying to help his sister and deal with traumas from his past, all of these while living in this crazy city where everything can happen at any time and "monsters" live among humans.
Kekkai sensen plays mainly by the rule of cool. Cool characters, powers, designs, scenes and music. Even though we have a serious tone on whatever is going on in the background during the 12 episodes (especially in the last 2), my reason to keep watching was that i was having lots of fun.
I recommend Kekkai Sensen as a very well made cool adventure and i am happy there is at least a second season where i will be able to know more…

I have to redo my review because the previous one didn't explain anything (just like the show).
I personally love Kekkai Sensen, but I sadly have to acknowledge that it has big faults. Kekkai Sensen is a very frustrating show because it is one step away from greatness. When it comes to aspects that are normally very difficult to do, it excels. However, it fails at one or two very important aspects. If this show's problems were fixed, it might actually overtake my current favorite: Cowboy Bebop.
Its biggest problem is the lack of explanation when it comes to very crucial elements. There are three things that Kekkai Sensen never takes the time to explain or establish: The plot, the characters, and the superpowers. The extent of what each character can do is completely unknown. On top of th…

This is my favorite anime. An episodic masterpiece that while having its flaws, i couldn't help but laugh and cry.
As a big fan of Yasuhiro and all his works, Gungrave, Trigun, BBB. I was having a blast while watching this season. From the well animated fight scenes to the godlike score by Taisei, to the characters that while larger than life at times, still felt so minuscule in the world of hellsalems lot.
The episodic nature throws alot of people off, it's understandable but for me. It merely made me love it more, watching several separate stories, the characters grow and develop. Coupled along with the opening and endings that made me tear up a bit each time. This is truly one of the greatest thing's I've seen, not in terms of sheer quality. But with just how it resonated with me at t…

The story is pretty straightforward but explores many themes and ideas, helped by how these elements work together. Even though the different parts may seem unrelated at first, the story manages to connect them all.
There are countless things one could mention about a series like this, but the best way to appreciate it is by watching it yourself. If you're ready to dive into a mix of hope and madness, this is the anime for you. Its experimental animation style, fragmented storytelling, surreal setting, and atmospheric music captivate the viewer, creating an intense immersion experience.
The ending of this series has the best song, literally one of the best ED I've ever seen.

I watched it in english so it is probably different. Its way more obvious that its a Christian anime, significantly more than Trigun. Space Dandy is also my favorite anime right now so hearing Ian Sinclair again was nice. Its basically structured and put together like Space Dandy but with Jesus. I hope the special and the next season are just as good but I'm not sure my partner in crime liked it as much. Most of the english voice actors are from Texas and obviously I like Sinclair's voice acting aswell as all the fun callbacks to Trigun like the cat and coats ex..... I'm rambling now but regardless it was kinda goofy but I value fun over anything else and I had a great time.

Kekkai Sensen peaked my interest because of the soundtrack. And let me tell you, that was one of the best jazzy and blues-y OSTs I've ever heard. Additionally, I'd added soundtrack to the second season last year, not knowing that it was made for this show (yes, I'm gonna watch next season too).
I LOVED the friendship between Leo, Zapp and Zed. This was the best thing in the whole show tbh. Their dark bloody humour balancing the naive Leo's, arrogant Zapp's and straightforward Zed's natures. Nonetheless, other characters didn't catch my eye, sadly (as well, as the art - it wasn't something wauw).
Coming to the plot, I wouldn't say it was something genius, but I still loved it. I could sense (maybe I'm overthinking) how the series represented family issues, wars, human traffic, racism and…

If you really enjoy isekai anime then I highly recommend this anime. While it is not the standard isekai anime plot, the MC gets transported into a new world, I like to call this a reverse isekai, were beings from another world gets transported into ours. The characters are charming and often come off as comedy when they interact, and the serious moments are shadowed by the funny tones. The music, by Taisei Iwasaki, is a pleasure to listen to as well and wonderfully composed. The MC, Leonardo Watch, isn't all powerful or OP: he's a coward, easy-going, friendly, and determined to fix his mistakes. And I think because Leo isn't this great and all powerful being, that really drawled me into this series. And I love it.
I would describe the inhabitants as Dr. Sues like (just not as whimsical).…

I feel like I forced myself to complete the anime tbh. The anime lacked clarity in so many things and you can barely understand most of the events happening. It just feels like you missed something and I kept on replaying in an attempt to see what had I missed.
They wanted to make the main character as someone who has high values other than his eyes bla bla .. but none of that was actually portrayed, everything they say to make him all the more valuable member of Libra I found to be a cliche just to make him sound more heroic!

Makes no fucking sense, but the ending song+animation is iconic and is worth watching the whole series just for it.
The character moments are great for comedic and wholesome value. The supporting cast is generally well rounded and it's a pleasure to see them get used to the MC throughout the series.
The battles themselves aren't that interesting, but that might be just be growing out of shonnen anime and moving on to more lighthearted slice of life stuff. The concept of weapons made of blood, however, is interesting and I'm glad there was an anime about that.
There is some lore that makes no sense towards the end, and that's one of this anime's biggest flaws. Yes, it is consistent, but it's not explained well enough to make sense, even upon a second watch.

This review will cover both both the first and second season as a whole. This show is comparable to "Men in Black", where New York City has both humans and supernatural beings interacting with each other. The main character, with a useful ability given to him under tragic circumstances, joins a group dedicated to maintaining order and balance in the city by taking down the baddies.
This show to me is the perfect balance of the stereotypes of an over the top shounen with stylistic action, while also grounding the story in a somewhat realistic setting. The action is not the focus of the show, it is the unique characters that make up the group. The action is the icing on the cake done brilliantly by Studio Bones as always. It also features one of the best scores in all of anime, featuring ap…

As an avid anime fan, I was excited to dive into Blood Blockade Battlefront, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The plot was convoluted and confusing, with too many characters and subplots that never fully developed. The animation was lackluster, with choppy movements and uninspired designs. The voice acting was also subpar, with flat performances that failed to bring the characters to life.
The main character, Leonardo Watch, was particularly disappointing. He lacked depth and personality, making it difficult to care about his journey. The supporting cast was equally unremarkable, with forgettable personalities and uninteresting backstories.
The action scenes were the only redeeming quality of the show, but even they were few and far between. The pacing was slow, with…

A wonderful story. Leo is a great character and teeters the line between a reliable and unreliable narrator and that is what I think is fantastic. From our point of view, Leo is a kid prone to little outbursts here and there but for the most part, he's level-headed and most of the situations he gets in are due to his environment of living in a town full of humans, monsters, and everything in between. Watching Leo establish bonds with his seniors, White, as well as Black is so heartwarming to see. The soundtrack is SO UNDERRATED. Songs like On My Own and In The City, are by far my favorites on the soundtrack. It's jazzy and slightly reminiscent of producers like Nujabes or J Dilla. Honestly, the finale speaks for itself. This isn't the story of some super-powered kid or someone whose hyper-…

I just finished this anime after 7-8 days, i don't want to write a novel here, also i won't spoiler anything so feel free to read:
The creativeness of the art of this anime is so well-done, i really got amazed in some episodes.
The Characters are greate, one of them is looking familiar to me (Steven A. Starphase) just in an older version (sorry, might sound cringe, but true).
Outro music is actually a good one, meawhile the openning and background music are part of the "meh" chategory, but the sound effects are again a thing they made well in this anime.
Now let's talk about why i gave only 6/10 score to this anime:
After watching the 4th episode i was like i'm going to give it an 8 or 9, but i can't do that. The 5th episode got me bored, so it took me more than an hour to watch it, bec…
