If you watch a lot of shounen, this probably wouldn't be your first pick. But if you want your dose of 16-year-old kids suddenly fighting big organizations and trying to take down the system, go for it.
A lot of people praise the anime for its design—which is fair, because the characters go so hard and have such distinct features—but for me, it’s the story and their characters arcs. The anime nicely balances characters driven by their own personal interests with those who want to take over the world. It gives the cast far more depth than you’d expect. Especially with characters like Enjin and Gris: yeah, they’re people fighting trash beasts, but they also take breaks, eat, and care for others without necessarily having some hidden agenda (or maybe they do? who knows? that’s the best part)…

such good animation wasted on such bad writing. I would give it 1 star if it wasn't for the animation quality.
the story makes no sense. the plot is forced, and the explanations are handwavy, If you ever watched another anime with an actual story and any thought behind it, you will hate this anime. you will hate that it has good artstyle, because it is such a waste for this material. The whole story is very predictable and it truly is not worth watching. The first few episodes I watched, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I thought they were trying to quickly give all the info about the setting and the story did not feel well thought because of that. I thought they were just trying to quickly get through the worldbuilding so they can get to the good part of the story: but that part nev…

Gachiakuta has a cool premise, amazing art style, and lots of likable and dislikable characters with fascinating arcs and backstories. It deals with very heavy and mature themes but serves up some comedic, almost slapstick-like segments too. The pacing however, is a huge problem. Some of the fight scenes span multiple episodes, are loaded with exposition and internal monologue making them just a slog to get through. Therefore it’s not a particularly bingeable anime to me but if you like over-the-top fight scenes, I guess it’s worth a watch. Also, the music is FIRE!

I was very excited when this anime came out. I've been dying for something original with a good plot and good aesthetics, but have been fed nothing but pure slop save for a few gems in the past few years. I wasn't disappointed when watching this. It has such an original animation and style that isn't an eyesore, it's so cool and distinguishable and I love that. The plot is really interesting too and keeps you engaged and wondering what the full picture is despite only being given crumbs. I love the MC and the characters and how their relationships develop. I love that it isn't afraid to touch on dark topics and does so with the gentleness that's required.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this anime to people

7.5/10 ~ Fun Time
I originally started watching this because Riyo looked like Etna from Disgaea or atleast a spiritual successor of her, and yep that sold me lol
What I ended up getting was a weird mix of 'Samurai Champloo', 'Jet Set Radio' and 'Scarlet (Film)', with the grit of 'Borderlands' and some darker aspects of 'Ergo Proxy'; for atleast the feeling and look, and these are some of my favorite IP's. Unfortunately this is just another Battle Shonen anime, that felt too closely to something like Black clover... and yeah that was the WORST aspesct of the show by far. The only saving grace without giving some spoilers is that there was some subversion of expectations in the latter half of season 1 that made me just actually laugh out loud.
The music, general art direction, character…

Gachiakuta's garbage-collecting premise didn't give me much of an idea of what to expect, only for it to open up into a fascinating world filled with memorable characters. The Cleaners are the heart of the series, and I loved how accepting they are of each other and how naturally Enjin, Zanka, Riyou, and the others form such a supportive family around Rudo. Vital Instruments are another creative touch, giving each character a unique, badass ability while adding more to their personal stories. Rudo is unfortunately the weakest part of the cast. He often feels useless, and compared to everyone else, there's very little about him that I find compelling.
The villains are much stronger, with Jabber being one of the most entertaining thanks to his sadomasochistic personality and excellent voice…

Gachiakuta, sadly, is the first review I’ve written which makes me despair over the what could’ve been for this series.
In my opinion, Gachiakuta is a series with a strong air of incompleteness which pains me as it’s embedded with potential. One of my biggest problems with it as a series is that it’s marketed as a ‘new’ premise- a never seen before series with an eye catching artstyle to boot. But in all aspects other than the art and sound it lies flat as yet another stereotypical shonen. Here’s my problems with this series as a whole: (mild spoilers)
Story 4/10
I did not enjoy the direction of this show.
For example the story follows a linear path of:
- Get powers
- Join an organisation
- Fight monsters
- Fight the enemy Organisation
- Get Revenge
And there’s nothing that makes it st…

According to the World Bank in early 2023, a post-pandemic world. South Africa is the most unequal country in the world alongside Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini, Colombia and Brazil. This can be shared into different categories. But what matters it is the balance between the salaries of rich and pooe. Caused by many cases, but the legacy of Apartheid that separate both black and non-blacks to blacks or even people who are not South African is a result of this.
So why i saying this, well. I love Gachiakuta, describing social inequality has led me to learn more than school. At the time i became a adult when i discovered the manga (one year before the anime came out) my critical sense of doing positive and negative was upside down. Cause creating a almost comfront life towards the readers or vi…

A total breath of fresh air in every way. This series is a joy to consume in it's art style, characters, story, and of course its killer soundtrack. There are no typical weird anime tropes and the plot feels entirely thought out. They don't sexualize kids and have actually good black representation? Who woulda thought?
Gachiakuta does a PERFECT job establishing itself apart from other anime and uses cliche plot points in unique ways to tell a fun and intriuging story. I haven't finished the manga but from what I have read I cannot WAIT for season 2! I'm praying this anime inspires other works like it in the future.

It's incredible... That's honestly the best way I can describe it.
Gachiakuta is incredible.
Among this new generation of shounen series, very few stand out this much. Even fewer manage to feel this original and creative.
Honestly, I find it hard to come up with any real criticism. My only complaint is that there aren't more episodes because I just want to watch more of this show! So instead, I'll focus on what makes it so great.
Animation
It's a 10/10. It's gorgeous, dynamic, artistic, and visually stunning. But more importantly, it fits the series like a glove. It's honestly hard to imagine this story with a more "standard" anime style. And to all the MAPPA fans out there: chasing extreme realism doesn't automatically mean better animation. Gachiakuta moves away from the obsess…

If you liked Soul Eater and Fire Force, you’ll feel at home.
Great soundtrack, great animations and amazing art style. Unfortunately, season 1 by itself is a little underwhelming, world building is decent but all characters look like they have potential but are almost never told. The Amo episode really made me think the story would have become much darker, but unfortunately that never happened. Still great fights (and plenty of them), and 24 episodes were enough to introduce us to the Gachiakuta world.
Waiting for the next season, hoping they will put some more budget into character building and less in fights, which are really cool but do not add that much to the story.

This show is really rather disappointing, as it has a great visual style and interesting world building, but it's all in service of an incredibly generic shonen story. I have to say I was incredibly underwhelmed by the first few episodes, and was considering dropping the show until it slightly picked up in the 4th or 5th episode, but even then the story itself was never really what was keeping me interested. Rudo is simply not a very compelling protagonist, something like a cross between Eren Yeager and Denji, but with none of what makes either of those characters interesting. I adore the character designs and the idea of random junk becoming magical if you love it enough, the music is nice (other than you, terrible Mori Calliope insert song in ep. 18), and some of the fights and powers sh…

Gachiakuta has the worst story ever written in anime history, outside of episode 1 there are zero consequences for any action and basically zero character development. Nothing interesting ever happens. Once you've gotten past like episode 3, you can basically accurately deduce what the outcome of any event will be by spending 2 seconds thinking about what the lamest way the scene could end is. Yes, the animation is great. But the story is so bad it doesn't matter at all. In my opinion, the best way to interact with this series is seriously just to look up all the hype and aura moments on youtube, because you're losing nothing by not listening the horrendous storytelling.
tldr its worse than sao, its worse than opm 3, its worse than every trash isekai combined, and I'll never touch this s…

THIS IS A SPOILER-FREE REVIEW
In the year 2026, it seems to me that another generation of shounen has reached it´s peak and is starting to pass over the torch to a new generation. “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Demon Slayer”, the two flagship shounen of the 2020s are finished, and their anime adaptations are close to the end as well. Shounen Jump, the flagship shounen magazine, is struggling a lot with these losses, and now that even “One Piece” is coming to an end, many people are raising the question of what comes next.
Gachiakuta could be the answer. Besides “Dandadan” and “Kagurabachi”, Gachiakuta is currently establishing itself as one of the leading shounen manga. But is it enough to truly make a big mark on the industry, or will it just be a fun, critically acclaimed, but short-lived show?…

This is one of my favorite animes, one of the only animes without fan service i have ever watched. It has good story, goood plot, original designs, original power system, and an exelent writing, defenetly a 10/10. What i understood about the anime was: 1.(obviously) take care and do not waste anything and learn how to apreciate things, and 2. whatever happened in the past you should try and beat it, never let your past haunt you and always try your best. This anime also has a great artstyle that fits with the topic of trash, unfairness and the feelings the characters feel. Also the character design tells you a lot abput every character.

After a long break, Gachiakuta brought me back to watching anime. Everything about it, from its characters and universe to its music and story, captivated me. The way the world's grimy and cruel nature was so well-blended with the characters' emotions brought back that sense of "soul" I'd been missing for so long. Every episode showcases a meticulous attention to detail, both visually and narratively.
Rudo's anger, loneliness, and struggle for survival truly resonate with the viewer. The emphasis placed on the characters' inner worlds, alongside the action scenes, is one of the things that makes this series special for me. It's been a long time since I've felt the urge to immediately start the next episode after watching an anime. Gachiakuta achieved that.

I literally binged the entire anime it hooked me on so much from the first episode which doesn't happen to me often and it bacame one of my favorites, I haven't read the Manga but the anime is absolutely amazing, with great world building, characters that are likable and of course different from each other, including enemies. definitely recomend it if you like post apocalyptic kind of anime with mystery and powers. definetly liked the art style it's different in a good way, it sits the story so well and every character is unique in its own way with their decisions and scenes are realistic

Quick(ish) review here,
What can I even say that hasn't been told already. This anime (and the manga) became my absolute favourites of the last few years. Such an explosive and mysterious story, in a huge and original setting, with many standout characters, it really makes it awesome.
There are a lot of elements used from all kinds of media, but at the end of the day it can be easily told this is definietly an anime, due to how absurd things can get here. It's not Konosuba levels of stupidity, but you won't see a guy beating a 10 meters tall monster, made out of trash, with nothing but an umbrella. Combine it with a unique, but familiar art style, and it's new and cozy at the same time. Trurly a joy for my eyes. (If someone wonders, the artist and writer Urana Kei is a big fan of Soul Ea…

Gachiakuta seems like a breath of fresh air from the summer season 2025. It throws you straight into a dirty, brutal and unjust world, where people are treated like objects thrown in the trash… and "the trash itself can fight back"
The story goes on the idea of a divided society. And the system itself seems as dangerous as the enemy, the pace being intense, but not rushed, leaving space for moments where the tension builds before exploding.
The characters in my opinion are one of the strengths of this Anime, each having a special energy, and the dynamics between them feel natural and not forced at all. Their evolution does not come from free "power-ups", but from experiences that really leave traces.
The visual design and art style of the characters stand out immediately and is one o…

Gachiakuta was enjoyable to watch, and it might have the potential to reach the popularity of other famous shonen in the next few years if they keep this level of quality for the animation in the next seasons. Was it a flawless experience though ? Not really, the show has many pros, but unfortunately, it also has a few cons that undermine the whole result, I'll try to describe them in this review.
The positive :
- First things first, the animation is beautiful. It's consistent throughout the season and the fights are epic, the visuals look nice etc... It clearly stands out and is one of the main strengths of Gachiakuta.
- It's linked with the last point, but the cahracter designs are good looking, I assume it's faithful to the original drawings in the manga and this style works reall…
