Its an interesting anime that becomes a bit irritating as it goes on.
For two reasons. Firstly the constant yelling.
Secondly the over reliance of goofy chibi animation for comedy.
Ive never been a fan of when an anime switches to chibi to be funny. It just comes off as lazy.
And yelling is also not funny.
Its the story of a human trying to save vampires from a curse that make them go on a rampage.
But he goes out of his way to make himself annoying to everyone he comes across.
He even constantly sexually harasses a female vampire. And this is played for comedy.
The MC becomes less likeable as the episodes go on.
So there is no one to root for.
By episode 9 i was pretty much done.

Very interesting vampire anime! I especially liked the humor which seemed to me a combination of the styles of Hellsing and Full Metal Alchemist. It was frequent and often interjected into serious moments in what I feel was masterfully done. The show itself also feels like a combination of a shoujo manga and a shounen one. I'm talking flower petals and sparkles everywhere, wall slams, and hot guy monologues but also idealistic protagonist, satisfying battle scenes and interesting villains. Sometimes, you really can have it all.
Vanitas is a force of chaos, as likely to act on a whim as a conviction. It makes his character unpredictable and fun. And howbout them blood sucking scenes! Wooooweeee, they are intense! Really passionate, and I don't necessarily mean that in a sexual way. Very w…

This show is my top 10. if you like romance, mystery, action, comedy, and a beautiful art style/animation/music.
First, let's talk about the comedy and characters. Every character is hilarious during the non-serious moments and sometimes serious moments, and their interactions are some of the funniest parts of the show. But when things get serious their backstories are surprisingly deep. Trust me, you'll end up caring about most of the cast.
The romance is also crazy good and don't worry, it's not BL. What's wild is that the series isn't even labeled as a romance, yet the romantic development is better than a lot of shounen anime that is not or focus on romance. It's surprisingly fast-paced, natural, and gets even better on the second part of the anime. The chemistry between the character…

I watched this because it was hyped so hard a couple of years ago, and I'm not gonna lie, I understand EXACTLY why. All of the characters are so funny and strange, and this show has a habit of randomly inserting funny moments in between very intense, serious scenes that catch me off guard and make me laugh everytime. It is a rollercoaster of both lightheartedness and more darker moments. I love Vanitas and Noe so bad, as well as their respective friends, everyone in the cast is great, and there is so much romantic tension between a lot of the characters. It's not just 1-to-1 ships, I feel like a lot of the characters have romantic tension with multiple other characters, and I really like to see that in a show. It was very entertaining and I'm excited to watch season 2!

This not so much as a review, but a means to order my thoughts about the anime. Because it was a rewatch I was familiar with the plot. This allowed me to be more philosophical.
Two concepts became apparent:
1. Noe describes himself as 'callow'... defined as immature and/or inexperienced.
2. Why the fascination with vampires... other bloodsuckers (ie mosquitos) are annoying, yet vampires have intrigued our erotic interest.
Anime often combines innocence with erotism. Its a rather fan-service rife theme. Often it is also coupled with self restraint, I can only assume that this stems from a conservative Japanese mindset. So why dangle the carrot in front of people's noses only to remind them not to bite it? Its like saying "Hey, you feel this feeling we have deliberately evoked in you? Yea…

Acting as a blend of period piece perfection and comedic adventure, The Case Study of Vanitas truly has earned its place in my upper ranks. With its two seasons of gentle allure, it is hard to convey just what a work of art this show truly is. In many ways, it considers the social and cultural matters of the public despite its fantasy-like characteristics. growth of each character is further developed and the plot becomes more in-depth. This shows is considerate of many different watchers regardless of their backgrounds and understanding of the chosen setting. All-in-all, it is a worthwhile watch that I give a firm 8.

Starting to watch this anime, you cannot see immediately what it is about, and not even from the first episode you cannot see any main protagonistic vibes stemming from our protagonist, Vanitas himself. The title itself is not telling really, but what you will see is a steampunk vehicle and on it are not so interesting characters but one stands out in particular. Not to spoil, but our main cast is generated from this one episode. The appeal is as follows: the main character has a low-key, low profile device which can mediate a certain condition among, vampires. However, especially with the aspect of vampirism, for which this anime is vampire-tagged. Despite that, there is still something to look forward to and that is how does our protagonist use this device?
It just seemed to be an anime…

🦇 The Case Study of Vanitas — A Thoughtful, Stylish Review
(Grounded in the information from search results)
Jun Mochizuki’s The Case Study of Vanitas is one of those rare series that blends style, emotional depth, and world‑building into something genuinely memorable. Set in a fantastical, steampunk‑infused 19th‑century Paris, it follows the unlikely partnership between Vanitas, a human “va…

This anime completely captivated me from the very beginning. The whole atmosphere of the anime feels so unique, dark, elegant, a little mysterious, yet full of emotion and beautifully crafted moments. The characters are incredibly well written, each with their own story and motivations, and watching their relationships develop was honestly one of my favorite parts. I also absolutely loved the visual style. The colors, the details, the overall aesthetic, everything was stunning. And the music added even more charm to the whole experience. It grabbed me way more than I expected, and now I’m really excited for the next season. I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

The Case Study of Vanitas can be described as someone who grew up good looking. It is so incredibly beautiful to look at with above average animation and great color grading. But wow is it also just so boring to follow. The plot is just, there. I think the only reason anyone would ever watch this is because of the fact that there are vampires, and that the artsyle and character designs are just nice to look at (and that's fine).
Jeanne and Vanitas' dynamic was genuinely the only thing I found interesting and that's about it. I'd recommend to anyone like me who likes looking at colors and pretty things.

I have seen a lot of Vampire and Werewolf myth based animes and shows and I may say that this is one of the many works I could recommend to have anyone watch. The overall plot is intriguing ang the mere fact that the main lead is not all that serious with the whole love troupes and just usually goes along the flow of every event makes it more entertaining. I have watched so many shows that have eccentric characters in them and I guess that it will still depend on the viewer's point of view if they find the characters' character to be appealing to them or not.
This anime is a pure bliss for me. It focuses on a different kind of vampire and somewhat gives it a depth meaning of how the creatures of the night are longing for equality and connection; may it be within their community or with o…

I am pleasantly impressed honestly. When i saw some snipets of this show, i expected something entirely different.
If i had to give a surface level description of this show i'd have to say that it's colorful.Because it really is after all. The animation is incredibly stylized, and it's very good looking. The setting honestly....it's meh for me. I was never a fan of the Industrial Age if im being honest. I always prefered the Medieval Ages for a show like this. But i honestly got really intrested in the way they portrayed the vampires in here. Also, i find almost all the characters quite intresting ,no matter who's on the screen i almost never told myself "god damn this one again".... except when that Moreau guy came along.
Honestly the story is a big driving force in this anime. It's a sl…

To be honest, I was surprised by how many themes this anime handled well. It’s got romance, mystery, action, fantasy—even some comedy stuff. Basically, everything. And what makes this anime stand out is how well all those elements come together. Many shows try to mix genres and completely fail, but this one actually pulls it off. The story may not be the deepest out there, but it's more than solid enough to satisfy even more experienced or demanding viewers.
The art style isn’t anything mind-blowing, but it’s definitely above average—especially considering the show is already a few years old. It complements the atmosphere really well without feeling outdated.
Overall, if the genres and themes of this anime match your preferences, it's definitely a must-watch. Even if you’re unsure, I’d s…

ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
If you’re craving everything a vampire anime should deliver—this is it. Blood-sucking, blood-licking, the thrill, the intimacy (or not)… Vanitas no Karte has it all. It’s wild, it’s stylish, and it gets your adrenaline pumping from scene one.
Sure, the first episode doesn’t exactly hook you instantly, but stick with it—the deeper you go, the better it gets. What caught me off guard was the animation: absolutely top-tier. The fluidity, the expressions, the aesthetic—it’s chef’s kiss. The series balances comedy, drama, and plot progression in a way that feels effortless.
The serious undertones, emotional weight, and badass fight scenes give the show its edge. Add in a hint of romance between Vanitas and Jeanne (VaniJeanne, anyone?) and you’ll be shipping them hard. Meanwh…

The Case Study of Vanitas is trashier than people act like it is.
This show was made to appeal to two demographics: 1) teenagers who are just now deciding to explore darker ideas and aesthetics just for the sake of it and 2) people who think vampires are sexy as hell. Fortunately, there is a lot of overlap between the two.
The Case Study of Vanitas is about French vampires in the 1800s, and that fact alone should make the general feel of the show (and target audience) clear. It is edgy, tragic, and so, so sexy. Several of the blood drinking scenes straight up look like sex scenes, and it’s said vampires emit a substance similar to an aphrodisiac when they bite; it’s not subtle.
The story follows a docile, empathetic vampire named Noé, and his titular companion—the arrogant gadfly of a h…

Quick review here;
You will love or hate Vanitas no Karte depending on one thing: do you like the main character AKA Vanitas. This "horroristic", serius and dangerous world with vampires isn't something new, but the simple fact that here we have a lighthead protagonist who don't take things very seriusly at first, but he has an important mission and a complex, deep background. It's somewhat similar to Vash from Trigun. Both have a very strong charisma which will make you remember them forever or you will complitely hate them. Any other character is a strong mid. Not bad, but nothing special to talk about, except the Vampire of the Blue Moon. We know very little about him and I just simply want more. To talk about something else, the main story is trying to be very serius, but our main char…

Vanitas no Karte, also known as The Case Study of Vanitas, is a captivating anime that blends elements of fantasy, mystery, and gothic romance to create a rich and immersive narrative experience. Set in an alternate version of 19th-century Paris where vampires exist alongside humans, the series follows the adventures of Vanitas, a charismatic vampire hunter with a mysterious past, and Noé, a noble vampire with a deep sense of justice. This anime is nothing more than vampire FAN FICTION and just like most stereotypical fan fiction, it is VERY BAD. I do NOT recommend watching this. 3/10
----------------- PROS -----------------
• The premise of this story is somewhat unique. Sure, there are several other vampire anime, but it's not a very common genre compared to superheroes, romance, or slice of life.
• The action scenes are also pretty decent. It's usually fun and pretty creative, and they come regularly in almost every episode.
• The world is somewhat interesting. Steampunk Paris with Vampires and an Alternate History Storyline. The writing uses a lot of fancy words which is... fine.
• A lot SEEMS to happen very quickly and the show jumps from beat to beat with fast pacing.

It's not interesting if you watch it without knowing it, it's even worse if you know it. I can't say anything other than that this director should never touch a work by Mochizuki Jun again in his life.
The studio, the professionals involved, the promising staff; all this was a formula for success. The first trailer is great and the expectations were good from the start. It's a pity that Yuki Kajiura and her amazing OSTs are put in the middle of this mess; the openings and endings are also extremely good. Art is decent at best, not what you would expect from a team with such great names.
When a director doesn't like what they're doing, the viewer feels it; and that's clearly the case with the Vanitas no Carte anime. All he managed to embody in his work was "hehe hot women moaning" and occ…
